Nam Song New Briggate in Leeds

Lovely little restaurant,serving delicious food and drinks. My only gripe was that, although the food is delicious, there are other places in town that serve bigger portions for the same/less money. It was good food, but I left feeling a little hungry!

Been meaning to go here for while now and was not disappointed, had Lemongrass Chicken rice bowl and a Vietnamese coffee. Very tasty, great atmosphere and delightful service, would definitely recommend.

Very nice atmosphere with pretty lanterns dangling all over the place! On the other hand, the food was not tasty and was quite heavy (cari curry and beef bun). Service charge was added by default although service was a bit annoying. Expensive for what you get, there are much better options in and around Merrion centre.

Tasty food, plenty of options and friendly staff. They have good promotions as well if you go before 6pm. The atmosphere of the place is also lovely (and I recommend to book in advance if you want a table in the floor with the comfort of the pillows)

One of my favourite Vietnamese restaurants of all time, no question. Even as a vegetarian, the food is incredibly tasty and satisfying. Incredibly good. Everything seems to be homemade from the marinades and sauces to the spring rolls. The lunch menu is also great value, however, the beware that, unfortunately, it is not the quickest service and if you only have an hour to spare, you will be very tight for time indeed. I think almost every lunch break we’ve gone, I’ve either had to bring something with me to-go or barely finished eating in time to leave, which is such a shame as they would be very busy at lunch otherwise. The service and atmosphere is great. The menu also seems very authentic. Again, I highly recommend (and I definitely wouldn’t change the speed of service, if it meant that the quality of the food was compromised in any way!)

Lovely restaurant xx I got chicken bites and Vietnamese ice coffee which is amazing 🥰 it brings me the Hoi An vibe . I would highly recommend if you like somewhere to chill and relax with nice food and friendly staff

I was content with my vegan mushroom pho. I am used to having a much salter broth base, more bean sprouts, and a wider bowl. (Lifting the noodles with chopsticks was a bit of a challenge with this smaller bowl.) Overall, I was happy with my meal.

Had the pre theatre menu, great portion size for the price and comes with a drink, excellent service, lovely decor, would recommend!

Popped in for a bite to eat just before a show at the nearby Leeds Grand just after 6pm. The place wasn't that busy and I was seated straightaway and ordered within a few minutes. As I waited, the place began to fill up and I overheard staff saying to people entering that there was a 25 min wait, so got in just in time. My first pint took a little while to arrive so that did start to me make me feel bit anxious given that I was limited on time, however once it did, the food arrived shortly afterwards complete with chopsticks (knives and forks on table). Spot on grub, I've had various Thai dishes before and the Vietnamese food is similar in style - so I enjoyed it. Even used the chopsticks which I was proud of. The automatically added 10% service charge to the bill pushed the overall cost up a bit but I enjoyed the meal and I'd had a couple of beers by then, so c’est la vie. Overall a good experience.

The food was very tasty and colorful, and the staff is very friendly. I highly recommend if you like eating different flavours and like spicy (not mandatory hot) asian food

My friend and I usually have a wonderful experience when we have a meal at Nam Song but sadly today was not the case. We both ordered pho (chicken and prawn) and were disappointed that they arrived luke warm/cold and we had to ask for them to be reheated. My friend ordered the ginger phojito mocktail because she really enjoyed it last time but she was served the alcoholic phojito instead. This wasn't good since she is pregnant but luckily she realised after 2 sips. We arrived around 12:40pm and understood that the staff were busy with the lunch rush but found it disappointing that the quality of the food/drinks was significantly different. On a positive note, the waiting staff were wonderful and our server was appalled and instantly took our meals to heat them up when we told her our food was cold. She also ensured that my friend received the actual drink she had ordered when we expressed concern that the one she was initially given was alcoholic. I am giving Nam Song 3 stars because of how our server tried to remedy the issues. I would be willing to try their food again but am a bit nervous that the same experience will happen again. I'd say try to eat here outside of busy meal times to ensure that your order is properly delivered.

I am not satisfied with the beef pho for the price I am paying for it. Broth was lukewarm. The temperature of the broth was unable to cook the thick cut red beef they served with the pho. Besides, the noodles were undercooked and not fresh. Lots of restaurants with better value out there.

The very attractive blonde manager/supervisor got us seated ready for a mind blowing gastro experience. Flavourful facial, my lips are tingling and my nose is running, in the best way. I had the lemongrass chicken curry, if I had to some up my experience in 3 words it would be: very hot manager.

We had a delicious vegan dinner of pho soup, ban salad and the bahn mi starter was heavenly! Despite being busy we managed to squeeze in and we're so grateful, but definitely book ahead if you want to visit on a Saturday! It's popular for good reason

Amazing place to grab some top quality Vietnamese food. Staff were great, seating options and decor were stunning. The food cannot be faulted in any way, both price, portions and quality were perfect. Highly recommend the spring rolls and pho! Thanks for a great experience all round!

really enjoyed a lunch here we a close friend, service and food very good. like that water brought to table without asking. Only drawback the table we had as quite badly damaged and kept catching my clothes - would suggest changing it. However great atmosphere and very welcoming

Great place! The owners has definitely been to Vietnam. Great food, decor and atmosphere. Only one star down on food as my Pho soup was very salty. It tasted really nice but the salt was just too much.

I ate at Nam Song a couple of weeks ago. The atmosphere, food and service were fab. Myself and some friends were served by lovely Bethan who gave us personal recommendations which were all perfect and even let us do a draw at the end where we won 10% off, so we will be sure to be back soon!

It was my first time and I absolutely loved it. I was looking for a place to enjoy my own company and have some head space. The staff was very friendly and helpful.I had a beautiful mocktail the ginger phojito and the seasame chicken bites let me tell you they are delicious and the portion is very generous. I really enjoyed my time here and I will definitely come back. Well done Kara your service was exceptional!! thank you for the pen and paper :)

Other than the great ambience, the place is a little over hyped. They first time we visited the host was little being dodgy about giving us a table. He made us wait for 15 mins and later told us there was no free table though there was one unreserved table right infront of us. The next time around we got a table and tried couple dishes which were on the pricey side for the quantity and taste.

Mixed feelings so I have to give 3 out of 5. The cafe/restaurant is absolutely gorgeous and the food was presented beautifully, clearly made with fresh ingredients... BUT not hot?! There was no steam coming from our pho and the chicken wings were just warm - I'd expect that I shouldn't be able to pick them up for at least 5 minutes! I would expect this when paying £45 for the meals. However, it has to be said the summer rolls (which are meant to be cold!) and dip were lovely. Our waitress was friendly, but service slow. She cleared a large table and brought the bill to a table who arrived after us all while we sat waiting for 20 minutes with our finished meal still on the table. We were also a bit annoyed by the price of the beers - £5.75 each for a 300ml bottle - although imported, we wouldn't expect this much! There are no prices on the drinks menu and these should be clearly stated. Finally, there is an automatic service charge on the bill. We didn't feel we would have tipped due to our disappointments, but it's too awkward to ask for this to be removed.

Incredible service here ! Molly was a super attentive waitress and the decaf coffee was great ! Love the sit down tables upstairs it’s great space for doing work.

Starters were amazing and as were the drinks so I was really excited for my main. What came was a cold selection of noodles and salads (I am aware bún is supposed to be room temperature) but it just felt a bit lacklustre when I’ve had much nicer and flavourful bún in other places in Leeds (even pho in the trinity!) I’d like to come back and try the bahn mi another time but wouldn’t come for much else. Felt rather expensive for what we got.

Twice I visited here, both times have been ok, service can be slow and sometimes it can seem poor during busy times but the staff are working hard but not enough of them sometimes. Food is good with a good choice on the menu. Service is included on the bill and even when requesting we would like to leave cash for the tip it was taken on the card regardless.

Really enjoyed our meal here.. the vegan Pho was really good. Could potentially have done with less tofu and more noodles. The summer rolls were delicious.. Service was very good, will definitely be back!

Big disappointment. A bowl of Pho Ga with beef was close to £18 for an underwhelming broth and... not even beef broth! They're a Pho-focused placed that don't even do a Bo broth. Wild. There is better pho for much less in Leeds. The pineapple marg had no detectable quantity of alcohol in it either. The venue is nice, but it's overpriced and underdelicious. With pretty slow service to boot. Can't recommend, unfortunately.

Food is my love language and Nam Song is now one of the reasons why! We had the sesame chicken bites to share and a Prawn Curry each and it was the perfect amount, they are both reasons to visit Nam Song! Super cute decor too (and they do pineapple margs)

Amazing Vietnamese coffee and curry with a very relaxed atmosphere

It's sorta telling that their whole brand is 'We were young white backpackers in Vietnam and have tons of photos of ourselves/other white backpackers in our restaurants'. Aesthetics and the 'vibe' of Vietnam are the draw, food is not. Vermicelli bowl had all the 'right' components, but noodles were overcooked and soggy, and sauces were too sweet. Vietnamese coffee wasn't v strong.

Avoid at all costs! Wish I’d looked at reviews beforehand, staffing issues have obviously been ongoing for months with blatant disregard to their customers. Booked in at 7:45 on a Friday night, it wasn’t busy or full but there were a couple of large parties in. We waited 20 mins to order drinks so ordered the food at the same time, didn’t get the drinks for 40mins, was told at this point the food would be 10 mins. By 9pm still no food, drinks finished decided to leave. All this time we had had to try and catch someone’s eye, walk up to staff, no follow ups, no apologies. As we were leaving who I assumed to be the manager said our food was coming. I agreed to stay if it was coming straight away, waited again I asked for the bill as I didn’t want to wait another 30 mins for this to arrive after the food. We’d been given another round of drinks and told 25% had been knocked off the bill. The food came and it was burnt! I ate it as I was ravenous by this point and knew we wouldn’t get in anywhere else. Didn’t bother saying anything as we’d already got the bill and they clearly don’t care. Other tables were also waiting, food wasn’t all coming out at the same time for big parties, people weren’t getting served in the right order, other peoples food was given to our table, no apologies, ignored, sub standard food, the list goes on… such a shame as it’s a great concept. They should have stopped taking bookings/seating people as they obviously couldn’t cope with the work load and rather than focus on people they had in and making sure they were ok they’ve just overwhelmed themselves and now means bad reviews and no repeat custom.

Food is terrible but freaking expensive. The rice noodle was not cooked. And the curry is super spicy, there’s hardly any rice in curry… I don’t know where are these good comments coming from. I would give 0 to be honest.

Went for dinner on a Friday at 8:30. We waited 50 mins for food to come to our table, and when it did arrive it was COLD. Because the broth in the pho was cold, the noodles and veg weren’t cooked. Noodles were all stuck together and hard. We think because we had a late booking, the cooks just gave us what was left. So I recommend coming earlier, however I have seen other reviews complaining of slow service as well. Overall would not recommend at all.

We had walked passed Nam Song many times before finaly booking for dinner after some good life news. It's a now new favourite place to eat in Leeds! Interested to try the Breakfast lunch and post dinner food after also hearing positive reviews for all the meals from Ellen at the Leeds Food Tour. The staff were friendly and the food was amazing. We chose to eat on cushions on the floor and the cushions were very comfortable and we really enjoyed the experience.

Beautiful coffee, and a lovely menu selection. We did have an issue that brought the rating down as a whole due to the Pho being exceptionally salty to the point of having to be remade. The staff were kind about this, but the speed of service was slow in resolving such an issue.

Really wish I could be more positive about my experience considering the cost of the meal (£35 a head for two courses and a drink). The food was delicious and the atmosphere is super relaxed and cosy, but one of our party who has severe allergies was served a dip that contained sesame oil after more than one lengthy conversion with serving staff. They didn't want to make a fuss on the evening, but I was shocked that it happened. On top of that, we were there over an hour before our mains were served, and had a sarcastic comment from a staff member when we asked for glasses for our table water. Don't think we'll be going back.

We tried this place based on reviews.. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, food was well presented but unfortunately not good value for money. Would probably return again but me and my partner have since found other Asian food places within the centre which tick all boxes.

Colourful and chic , the decor and the food. Loved the lunch we ate. Banh Mi was perfect, tickles the taste buds with delight and so does the Pho. The freshness of the ingredients and the flavours performed a delicious ballet. Limited seating and popular. Recommended.

This place is really cute. A perfect location for lunch and a bit of relaxation. I had my lunch on the cozy carpet zone, with the cushions - super comfy and relaxing. The Vietnamese coffee was great, the Pho was average in my opinion (possibly overpriced for what it was) but the atmosphere made it much better. The service was great, Bethania was really friendly. Overall it was a nice experince.

Quite simply the best food I’ve had in years. Fresh, delicious and plentiful- amazing twice fried Katsu tofu and roasted pepper. Pineapple margaritas now my favourite cocktail. Charming and attentive staff. Just perfect.
