Great service very good food. A joy to stumble across.

My favourite south East Asian food in Leeds. A no frills taste of Vietnamese, friendly staff, diverse clientele and a real feeling you have stepped out of Leeds and entered Hanoi. The food is always fresh and so tasty, prices are low, couldn’t recommend it more highly and number of my Asian friends in there speaks volumes.

Found this place by chance. Had ban xeo and bun cha ca. Reasonably close to expectations. Made me miss Vietnam. Recommended for a visit. Bit pricier than Hoi An though!

I visited this lovely little Vietnamese restaurant twice and both times food has been delicious flavours and fresh having visited Vietnam several times. This is pretty authentic.

It's an open secret amongst the Vietnamese community in West Yorkshire that Viet Bistro does inauthentic and bad Vietnamese food. This comes from testimony from many people from Vietnamese people who have eaten there to a chef in the kitchen. After trying it for myself, I'd have to agree with them. People settle for less because they aren't familiar with true good quality Vietnamese food. I'd give this one a miss, although I can't fault the staff here

Delicious vegan pho and summer rolls, lots of other great-sounding vegan options too. Will definitely come again.

I ordered a soup. It was not Vietnamese at all. Flavor missing, no herbs and spices. Really Poor soup probably the worse one I ate. Staff was nice. Restaurant abit Dirty and outdated. In Addition the sriracha spices are really bad they have flying goose bottle but they put something cheap home made.

This is the first time we have visited, and definitely will not be the last. The food was so fresh and tasty the staff so warm and welcome. Can not wait to go back.

My favourite beef Pho and prawn summer rolls in Leeds. I've been to this restaurant multiple times over the passed year and never been disappointed.

I love this place! Such tasty food, especially the salt and pepper squid/prawns with the noodles and sauce 🤤 I got wings for the first time the other day and they were fantastic!

Food was fresh and filling. Please get the Pho you won't be disappointed.

Where to start 😌 The food is bursting with flavour and let me tell you about the PHO. I had the trio of meat that accompanied the PHO, rare steak, well-done beef and chicken. From the first sip, you can tell that this dish will warm your soul and fill your belly :)) Rice noodles cooked just right, easily melt under the tongue. Well seasoned from the kitchen but there are plenty of options on the table if one wants to add some extra flavours and seasoning. That bowl could easily feed 2 people but in the end, managed to finish it off:)) As a starter, I had the Squid and when it came out I thought that it was meant for two people. Juicy Squid in a lovely crispy batter. To refresh the taste buds ordered a Coconut Bistro, Malibu-fresh coconut-rum-pineaple juice. Could not ask for anything better to enjoy on this rainy grey day. Definitely recommended this place and will re visit next time I'm in Leeds.

Was the best Vietnamese food in Leeds. A rebrand and possible change if ownership has meant their Pho isn't quite the same anymore and unfortunately not quite for us.

Very relaxed and kind of casual place but for what you pay the food is so tasty and all the ingredients look very fresh Been loads of times never disappointed

Never again. The service was slow and the food was tasteless. Google map was misleading.

Some dishes were ok, but I recommend the tofu noodles

We ordered Rare Steak Pho, Well-done Beef Pho, Pad Thai and Spring Rolls. The serving size is satisfying. The beef is not a thin-cut. It seems that the broth is not hot enough to “cook” the rare beef. The Pad Thai is not what we expect….

Good experience, service could be a bit faster (to take our orders, delivery of food was very fast!) Food was great but a little bit less seasoned as expected. This was okay though, we enjoyed our food nonetheless

It was viet guy before and now changed to viet bistro. The prices increased £1 for the rare steak pho which is fine but they added service charge on the bill without informing me. I only noticed when I walked out paid and looked at the receipt. Very cheeky

I am a frequent customer of the restaurant; I was very disappointed that they have reduced the portion of the Pad Thai, and not only that, the taste is no longer the same. Lack of flavor compared to what it was before. I prefer that the price of the dishes increases but that the quality does not decrease, much less the flavor.

The staff were friendly but very busy, as there was only one person serving/behind the bar. Overall, the food was good and we'd go back.

Phenomenal food, and extremely nice people running the shop. It was great authentic food and I loved every bite of my meal. Honestly, this is the best food I've had in Leeds. I would come back any day and the great prices add to my enjoyment.

Slow service when it’s not busy. Food should come out together for those on the same table, not 20 mins apart. Friend finished their food before mine arrived.

Richly prepared food with generous portions, though the toilets are a distressing vision of hell. With a relentlessly positive disposition, I suppose one could consider them as a part of the wider authentic experience.

Fast and good service. Big portion. We ordered pho chicken, spicy noodle chicken, veggie spring roll and vietnamese coffee. Everything is good. On top of that, the chicken is halal. Will come again to try another dishes.

Delicious food always! I often get the rare steak Pho and Summer Rolls. Often whoever I am with will get a different filling so we have one of each. Service is always polite and attentive.

Downgraded from my 5 star to a 3 star as I have been eating here years and the last two times the Pho standard has slipped. The depth of flavour in the broth is lacking compared to what it used to be. When the food is excellent you can forgive the restaurant for the tired interior and the grotty toilets. When the food is becoming a bit 'meh' then I am afraid I am having to give it one more chance to redeem itself. I am not sure if there is a new chef or if they are trying to cut corners but if the Pho broth isn't up to standard that day I would rather thee waiting staff told us to order something else instead rather than give us a bowl with little beef flavour. There is no way to do a shortcut or hide with Pho.

Here for lunch on a weekday having read the reviews. Not that busy and could have done with some heating in the restaurant. Ordered Pork Hai Noi noodles. The service was fairly prompt, and the food was well presented. Strong flavours in the food and was distinctive compared other restaurants in Leeds. The temperature of the food was a little cold, hotter food and warmer in the restaurant would get the 5th star

I was really keen to try Vietnamese food, and based on it being the first authentic one in Leeds, thought it’d be worth it to try Viet Guy. I was disappointed with my vegetarian BÚN BÒ HUẾ. Broth was made out an oxo cube - not pleasant would’ve expected a homemade broth and overpowered any other flavour (if there was any). Promised hot and spicy - it wasn’t. Pak choy end wasn’t trimmed so all the leaves were still attached to the root - unlikely to have been washed throughly. Not a great eating experience having been told how authentic it was going to be.

I usually try my best to avoid 1 stars, but this place has by far the worst pho I've ever had in my entire life, and I've had a lot of pho in my life. I ordered a rare steak pho and the colour of the broth resembles clear water. Pho broth is supposed to be light brown in colour, especially if they claim that they simmer their broth for 6 hours. Surely enough when I took my first sip it was absolutely tasteless. I actually thought I got covid and lost my sense of taste, and had to quickly eat a spoonful of hoisin sauce to make sure that wasn't the case. The broth was very simply put just boiled water. The noodles and steak themselves were fine, they're supposed to be flavoured by the broth; so when the broth is water, I was just eating noodles and meat soaked in water. Absolutely dreadful meal and made me question my health.

Excellent Vietnamese food, speedy service, friendly staff and very reasonable prices. As always my go to dish at any Vietnamese place is the summer rolls and I was not disappointed in the slightest.

Building needs a bit of maintenance but really tasty food and friendly staff, would recommend!

We wanted to try an original Vietnamese pho. In addition we ordered fresh summer rolls with prawns and coconut sizzling with beef. Only coconut sizzling was eatable for us. Taste and smell of the pho was extremely off-putting...

We visited for dinner on a Saturday at around 8pm and found the restaurant was quite empty. We had drinks, a starter and main course. For starters we had the spring rolls and summer rolls these were excellent the summer rolls were a real standout and I could just eat those as a main course.. Fantastic. For the main course I had one of my favourite dishes pho. I can live on noodles and make these dishes at home all the time but it's great to visit a restaurant to show how to this properly. I think I had a chicken pho. It was amazing. The broth was delicious and the noodles had an excellent bite. Brilliant restaurant. The staff are excellent too. If I lived in Leeds I would eat here daily.

I’ve had to come to Leeds over the last few months for some work training and this was my favourite place to visit while I was there. Staff here were always super welcoming and accommodating which made it the ideal place to come and relax in the evenings. Also good food, good portion sizes and the ideal atmosphere for what I needed. Finished my course now, however, hopefully I’ll have the opportunity to return to Leeds soon so I can visit here again!

A lovely lunch! We also had some prawn summer rolls which were delicious. Staff were really friendly and attentive. Couldn’t fault it!

The staff here was very welcoming and lovely, I would give 5/5 for the staff. Nice & chill atmosphere, a bit dark though. In terms of the food here, from my perspective as a Vietnamese, it’s a bit bland. But it’s edible, definitely could have given a bit more flavour into the dipping sauce and the marinade for the BQQ pork, but I’m impressed with the amount of meat I got, very generous. Spring rolls are nice and crunchy with tasty fillings, big portion again. 4/5 for the food. Will definitely try other dishes when I come here next time.

Staff was friendly and nice, place was clean and cozy. However, the food we ordered did not meet our expectations. The rare beef pho soup was a bit cold when served, and there was a layer of oil floating above the soup. Did not resemble the original Vietnamese pho well.

Had Pho Bo Tai. Its really nice. Perhaps the best bowl of Pho you can find in Leeds. HOWEVER... I did find the portion to be alot smaller this time compared to my last few visits. Hopefully it's just a one off. Highly recommended regardless.

The food here is phenomenal. The vegetarian and vegan options are mindblowingly good. Try the morning glory, curry, salt and pepper seitan and the spring rolls!! This is my go-to place for good food, it never dissapoints❤

My wife decided that she wanted a birthday meal with friends and family that was different. We booked at Viet Guy for an evening meal for 14. I have to say, the owner Phuong and his staff , really exceeded my expectations. We were greeted and seated like friends. A variety of Vietnamese dishes were laid on the table for starters. If they had been the meal itself we would have been satisfied but then they took our orders for the main course, It seemed like everyone had a different choice but they all arrived together, hot and were delicious. We had taken a cake which was brought out by the staff accompanied by music as they sang a much cheerier 'happy birthday' song than is traditional in the UK. After that no-one could face a sweet so I can't comment on their puddings. They stocked every drink that any guest wanted. The staff were really good with us, the meal could not be faulted and I was very pleasantly surprised at the cost. Thank you Phuong and all your staff for making my wife's birthday special.

Personnel were lovely and helpful, the service was really fast. The beer was from exportation and nice to explore. All good things said, on the other hand the food was quite disappointing. The bowls had no flavour, I felt like I was eating noodles in warm water. I decided to put some sauces in this "water" to try and put some flavour and made it slightly better... still quite bad. My partner had a really similar problem with a totally different noodle and flavour chosen. Some mains were fine. I like to try local restaurants and normally they can make incredible food as they do not have the hands tied, can be imaginative or change recipes... in this case I did not feel any of that. I am sorry but I cannot recommend the place. PS: I should have taken good pictures.

What an amazing place. Food was just perfection. Chatting with Kevin the guy who designs the dishes.... Heart shaped rice on a plate, dishes looked like pieces of art.

I have been to Viet Guy many times, but the experience today was shocking. Today four of us arrived at 8 something, probably 8:25. I was quite hungry, the restaurant was quite busy, so I asked from the start how long we would have to wait for food, and was told it would be about half an hour. We ordered and sat down. Because I was hungry, I ordered a starter and quite quickly finished my Vietnamese iced coffee. Half an hour passed. No food. Then 15 minutes passed. No food. Another 15 minutes passed. Again, no food. No words from the staff. We saw other people around us getting served, but we were not. After waiting for more than an hour, I complained to a waitress. At 9:44, another waitress came to our table and said they were prioritising our food and it would be ready in 5 minutes. I said, I gave them 5 minutes and if there’s nothing, we were going to leave. 7 minutes later, there was nothing. Not even my starter. Other people were getting served, we were not. My mother now said she wanted to pay for the drinks and leave, so the waitress called the kitchen to ask if the food was ready. Apparently they hadn’t even started! The waitress said they didn’t have enough ingredients. Then why didn’t they say so when we ordered? Why didn’t they apologise and ask us to switch to something else? And if they really didn’t have enough ingredients, why did other customers get what looked like what we ordered? Not only so, when we left the restaurant, with an empty stomach, at about 10, they did not offer a discount for our drinks. The behaviour of the staff was shocking and unacceptable. I myself have worked in a Vietnamese restaurant, there’s no excuse for such incompetence, lack of professionalism, and lack of effort. Going to be a long time till I come back.

越南服务员小姐姐真的好温柔，好纤瘦。 但是，这两个菜真的都挺一般的。尤其那个鸭肉rice box有一种偏咸的中国家常菜感觉。 图4是他家厕所，有一种地道探险的感觉。有味道，而且厨房也在地下…… 以后应该不会再来了。 这样我想起了，之前在网红店my thai的点了非咖喱的套餐:猪肉rice box也是这样的偏咸中国家常菜感觉。 难道越南和泰国菜，离开了咖喱就不行了嘛？ 好失望啊😞

Hands down the best, most authentic Vietnamese food I've had outside of Vietnam. This place is a gem! Everything is delicious but I'm addicted to the Pho. Service is excellent as well, all the staff are so nice and helpful, I always have a laugh with them. Try Viet Guy, you won't regret it.

Stopped by here after attending a nearby festival and decided to get some takeaway towards the end of the night. The staff were very accommodating and the food was absolutely delicious. The vegetable spring rolls were the best spring rolls I've ever had! There was an impressive choice of vegan options which we both had. Both the Seitan and Tofu dishes were fantastic! Will definitely be visiting here again when I'm next in Leeds.

First time to try this dish "bun sa gon"(?) South Vietnamese noodle. It's so good!! I was thinking it may too dry but actually it's kinda juice. Service also great, a friendly sweet girl staff :)

Fast, friendly service. Portion size was great. Pancake a little lack of flavour but was fresh. Decor was slightly out dated but would visit again!

Poor service, mouldy walls on the way to the bathroom, rubbish recommendation from the waitress. Recommended a mixed combo which was plain vermicelli noodles with plain salad and beef. The pho was OK. Asked for the bill and the young lad said speak to that lady and pointed at the waitress. No asking or interest of how our meal was. Really disappointed.
