Viet Bistro in Leeds

We have ordered takeaway several times from Viet Bistro. Menu is grouped well. Each dish you can choose meat or tofu. Being plant based eaters this is a real plus. The summer rolls with peanut sauce are amazing. The pho is great & you get a large portion. Coconut sizzling is to die for. Both curries are good. Mango lotus salad is very good. Would really recommend you give it a try.

Went with my lady for Valentine's Day who used to go when she was younger and the place had first opened. She showed one of the staff a picture of her with her dad there when she was young and they showed all the other wait staff. Really passionate and friendly people and good food

Relaxed and informal place that feels like an authentic cafe you might stumble upon when visiting Vietnam. The decor is charmingly retro and the food is very good and reasonably priced. I will definitely visit again!

I ordered the special pho. The broth is tasty but I‘m a bit disappointed because there isn’t much beef and chicken with the noodles it really doesn’t worth £14.5 with the mandatory service charge. The staffs are friendly though.

Been here twice on first occasion they forgot 2 starters, and on 2nd time one of the main courses was forgotten. Food good organisation very poor.

Waited 1hr forgot to put order in. Laughed when told me this. No one checked to see if we wanted drinks or asked if we were ok. Phone call after offering voucher for next time, hard pass on that one

The best Vietnamese food in Leeds, the staff are all amazing and very kind, and the food is even better- my favourite place to eat lunch or dinner in Leeds and is always my go to choice

This is my first time visiting Viet Bistro and the third Vietnamese restaurant I have tried in Leeds since moving to the UK. The restaurant’s decorations truly capture the vibe of Vietnam, making me feel right at home. While I am still unsure about the food, I can confidently say that the coffee here is the best I have had in Leeds - 10/10! The portion is generous, and the flavor is exactly like the authentic Vietnamese condensed milk coffee I used to drink back home. Additionally, I also want to say thank you to Duc (Douglas), Mr. Khuong, and another tall man (Hieu) for their conscientious and friendly service. Their hospitality made my visit even more enjoyable. I always appreciate restaurants, or somewhere else which have the staff loving chatting like this restaurant. I will definitely come back next time!

Great little bistro I would have given 5 stars but we had to send a drink back. Food was surprisingly authentic. We had the og crispy pancake with prawns, great flavours, the pancake was not crispy though , but still good flavour. The rare beef pho, which was very good, seafood coconut curry, delicate flavours and not in the least overpowering. Flat noodles with prawns which were also amazingly good as you can see from the pics we were nearly finished before I remembered to take some photos of the food! All in all a really fantastic experience and staff were helpful, friendly and obliging. Good value for three diners.

Service was slow and poor (we were the only ones in the restaurant and I had to get the attention of the waitress on numerous occasions). My partner witnessed the staff using the toilet and not washing their hands afterwards. This really did put us of our meal! My partner ordered the Seabass and it was full of bones and I do not believe it was Seabass. A service charge was added to the bill and I was not happy with the service but felt obligated to pay

Tasteless beef noodle, the portion was small and all beef are so thin as paper. Service is okay but no return.

The best Vietnamese pho and bahn mi in Leeds. Very authentic. The bread is incredibly light and fluffy and crusty, just like in Vietnam. The bone broth has incredible depth. I can’t rate this place highly enough!

Good was delicious, had a variety of Pho and all were spot on. North Vietnamese curry was also great. Service was perfect!

We order rare beef and well done beef pho and it was average for a pho lover. The broth did not have enough depth but is a quick fix for when you have a pho craving. Weirdly enough this place uses lemons and not limes for pho. Also got seafood cake summer rolls but it wasn’t wrapped tightly enough and it didn’t have the classic pickled carrots and turnip. The dipping sauce was nice and sweet though. The viet lemonade was bit too sweet for my liking. Good price overall but place felt a bit dirty. Love that it had many options on the menu and the egg pancake with filling looked very nice. Might go back and try Overall rating out of 10 - 5/10

The food here is fantastic. Great value and really tasty. Went for an early dinner on Sunday evening and wasn’t busy at all. Treat yourself and give this place a go.

Stumbled across this place on the way back to the station. One of the best Northern curries I have ever had. Squid was superbly fresh too. Wish we lived closer!

This used to be a favorite of mine in Leeds especially for the pho with seitan, but unfortunately today I ordered it and I received was tasted like a basic vegetable soup with fried flour triangles instead of the delicious spiced broth with savory seitan they used to make :/

I've been coming to this restaurant for many months and it's been always amazing, service is great and wholesome vibes. HOWEVER something has changed in the last weeks. Quality of the food is a little poor, the broths are very bland with less spices and the seitan option dropped to very low standards. From the best seitan to what appears to be fried mushy flour pieces which don't compare to seitan. Lots of love for their staff and the friendly and patient smiles.

Visited with my spouse & our two kids on a Wednesday evening. Only one front of house person managing 5-8 tables at the time so they were stretched thin, but we’re patient so it wasn’t an issue. Prices are what we consider to be mid-range for dine-in authentic Vietnamese cuisine. Completely cleaned every plate we ordered. My late mother-in-law set a high bar for banh xeo standards. Ordering banh xeo is always a risky choice as a result - her banh xeo was magically light and flakey. I’ve yet to find somewhere that makes it in quite the same way. Here at Viet Bistro the banh xeo was light and crispy. While it didn’t match my MiL’s, it certainly hit all the right flavour points and *almost* all the same texture points too. I’ve accepted I may never find a banh xeo that matches MiL’s but this was a Damn Good substitute. We will be returning again (& again…) to support this independently owned local business and I will order two portions next time. Will probably aim for ‘Happy Hour’ (11AM - 6PM : 20% off, yespls)

We got a tofu pancake, curry, fried udon and spicy beef pho. Everything was amazing and came quickly to our table - tofu pancake was defo a highlight!! The food felt fresh and tasted truly delicious, presentation was good and portions were very generous. The waiter who served us was polite and very nice. A lot of vegetarian options avaialble too. Honestly, I would 100% reccommend this place. Prices were reasonable as well. The only downside was a slightly weird smell/damp near our table, but I think it was from the building itself.

The food was delicious and plentiful. Fresh flavours, heat, depth. I had the summer rolls, big and filled appropriately, and the rare beef spicy noodle soup. Not too spicy, but you can always add more chilli from the sauces on the table. Don't go there for the decor or the music, but for some rightly priced delicious food and a warm welcome

One of the few Vietnamese restaurants in Leeds, and in my experience the best. Offers a selection of both North and South Vietnamese dishes, and all the ones that I've had have been good. Ample vegetarian options (predominantly tofu and seitan). Mild spice. The condiments and pickles on the tables are also very nice.

The service was amazing and the food was so good!! Perfect portions and the best Vietnamese food I’ve had in a while. The waiter was really sweet, I was having a bad day and he just immediately provided such a warm and welcoming service! Also, he let me try 2 different kinds of spring rolls - both of which were amazing, especially the one with avocado!

Visited at the beginning of October (Sunday mid-afternoon for a table of 5). Friends recommended and it did not disappoint. Food was absolutely gorgeous, really good portions and they have a great offer on of 20% off food everyday from 11am-6pm. Servers were attentative and food arrived promptly. If I lived closer I'd definitely be a regular :-)

I’m a meat eater and even I found the seitan in the pho was amazing. The staff are friendly and attentive. The menu is good to cater if you just want a small bit or something more substantial.

This restaurant offers some really quality Vietnamese food. It doesn't look great from outside but it is friendly and welcoming. The food, (we enjoyed the Udon Noodles with roast duck and the Coconut Sizzling roast duck), is terrific and it is really worth finding this excellent little restaurant. It is licenced and offers a range of beers and wines. Would certainly visit again.

We stopped by this restaurant on our way to another place, and we’re so glad we did. Danny, the waiter, welcomed us and showed us the menu. Right from the start, the service was great. We tried different starters and mains, and the food blew us away. Everything was spot on—great service and amazing food. We were all really impressed and can’t wait to come back next time we’re in Leeds.

I really love vietnamese food and mostly eat it in the US. This place was really amazing. Service was great and they were really kind and helpful. The northern Vietnamese curry was awesome, good and spicy - not sweet at all. The red wine broth pho was incredibly flavorful and packed with meat and noodles. Just an all around great meal, I’ll definitely come here again.

Lovely Vietnamese in Leeds. Chicken Papaya salad was delicious and the 2 pho’s we had were very tasty. Service was fast and friendly and a 20% discount on the food bill was great.

Comfortably the best Vietnamese food outside of Vietnam. The only thing that was missing was the humidity and the plastic chairs. 10/10 food, they didn’t have Bun Cha but the waitress suggested the next best alternative - Bun Saigon I preferred it! I will be coming back every time I’m in Leeds!

Don’t walk past this place, it’s easy to do as from the front window you can’t really see in and tbh it doesn’t really sell itself. However once you’re in it’s lovely. Spotless clean, great menu and lovely friendly staff. I got the spicy pho (can’t remember what it was called) the other half got the stir fried flat pork noodles. With a sparkling water and the 20% happy hour the bill came to £21. Both dishes were amazing. We will make this a regular whenever we visit Leeds. Don’t overlook this if your passing this way 👍🏻

I tried the chicken pho which was tasty and not too salty. Plenty of pho and chicken. Much better than some other ones I had in Leeds. The spring rolls were delicious too. The toilets need a little upgrading and the service was a little slow.

My first time trying Pho and it was honestly delicious. I got the prawn Pho. The customer service was amazing it was really love lady serving me. They food came quickly. I paid £12 for my food it’s very affordable price. I highly recommend this place if you want real authentic Vietnamese food.

The food was perfectly fine for the price, the spring and summer rolls were both quite nice, and although I’ve certainly had pho broths with much greater depth of flavour, after adding the lemon, mint and chili to it, I ended up with something fairly decent, at least by my own standards. The service, by contrast, was not quite as forgivable - the place was horrendously understaffed, with one single woman taking care of everything - newcomers, people wanting to pay and leave, table cleaning, taking orders and providing people with their food. This obviously became more and more of an issue as a greater number of customers started to trickle in. I wouldn’t have minded, except for the fact that there was a 5-10 minute delay between when my partner’s food arrived and my own food arrived. Okay, not the most horrendous thing in the world, but still not something that one expects or particularly wants to experience when eating out, and ultimately something that could’ve been solved by having just one other member of staff on hand to pick up the slack. The waitress, as respectful as she was, also mis-charged us at first, and required us to make up the extra money she’d forgotten to add to our bill before we left. Again, not an experience-ruining event, but something that indicates a lack of situational awareness or control, particularly when viewed alongside the aforementioned long wait time for food. Probably due to being overwhelmed with the work of more than one person, if I had to guess. Overall not a terrible experience but I probably won’t be going back - had the food been truly superb it might be enough to risk the poor service another time, but in future I’ll probably be taking my chances elsewhere.

My favourite south East Asian food in Leeds. A no frills taste of Vietnamese, friendly staff, diverse clientele and a real feeling you have stepped out of Leeds and entered Hanoi. The food is always fresh and so tasty, prices are low, couldn’t recommend it more highly and number of my Asian friends in there speaks volumes.

Found this place by chance. Had ban xeo and bun cha ca. Reasonably close to expectations. Made me miss Vietnam. Recommended for a visit. Bit pricier than Hoi An though!

Very small portions soup had a weird taste

It's an open secret amongst the Vietnamese community in West Yorkshire that Viet Bistro does inauthentic and bad Vietnamese food. This comes from testimony from many people from Vietnamese people who have eaten there to a chef in the kitchen. After trying it for myself, I'd have to agree with them. People settle for less because they aren't familiar with true good quality Vietnamese food. I'd give this one a miss, although I can't fault the staff here

I ordered a soup. It was not Vietnamese at all. Flavor missing, no herbs and spices. Really Poor soup probably the worse one I ate. Staff was nice. Restaurant abit Dirty and outdated. In Addition the sriracha spices are really bad they have flying goose bottle but they put something cheap home made.

This is the first time we have visited, and definitely will not be the last. The food was so fresh and tasty the staff so warm and welcome. Can not wait to go back.

Where to start 😌 The food is bursting with flavour and let me tell you about the PHO. I had the trio of meat that accompanied the PHO, rare steak, well-done beef and chicken. From the first sip, you can tell that this dish will warm your soul and fill your belly :)) Rice noodles cooked just right, easily melt under the tongue. Well seasoned from the kitchen but there are plenty of options on the table if one wants to add some extra flavours and seasoning. That bowl could easily feed 2 people but in the end, managed to finish it off:)) As a starter, I had the Squid and when it came out I thought that it was meant for two people. Juicy Squid in a lovely crispy batter. To refresh the taste buds ordered a Coconut Bistro, Malibu-fresh coconut-rum-pineaple juice. Could not ask for anything better to enjoy on this rainy grey day. Definitely recommended this place and will re visit next time I'm in Leeds.

Was the best Vietnamese food in Leeds. A rebrand and possible change if ownership has meant their Pho isn't quite the same anymore and unfortunately not quite for us.
