When my girlfriend booked here for our 6 month anniversary I was excited, I have always wanted to go here, upon arrival we were greeted very warmly and shown to our table, we were served quickly for drinks and as it was a special occasion for us, he gave us doubles instead of singles, which I greatly appreciate. He then bought out all these cute little presents so we could take pictures as my girlfriend had mentioned we were going there for a date whilst booking, food was bought to us very quickly and we even got free spring rolls and chicken dumplings, these were delicious but the food was absolutely to die for, I had the Cantonese chicken and my girlfriend had the chicken pad thai and I was so jealous, she let me try some and it was amazing, I definitely had food envy but that’s not to belittle how incredible my Cantonese chicken was, I recommend this place to anyone who wants to explore the Wolverhampton food scene and have the best Chinese/ Thai meal of their life.

We were the only ones in there, which is always nice to have a quiet restaurant but it does make you wonder why it's so quiet on a Friday evening. It was really cold when we first went in but it did soon warm up from his storage heaters which are placed everywhere. It did almost feel we were sat at someone's house rather than a restaurant. It probably could do with a makeover, updated to a modern look. The guy brought out his eggcellent fried rice on a wok and was cooking it in front of us. He said it was the best fried rice i will ever taste, unfortunately it wouldn't even make the top 10. I ordered duck pancakes to start, I was disappointed with the presentation of these. I would of munched preferred the duck to have been shredded rather in chunks. I didnt touch much of the main, sweet and sour didn't look appetising. I then had some of my partners chowmein and with that I wasnt over impressed either. The food was average, there wasn't much flavour. It is basic and plain. The staff are friendly, made an effort with our son. He was teaching him king fu which my son loved. I wouldn't choose to go back there, however, I am glad I did go as he was a character that made us laugh.

Wow. They could not have been more attentive. The food was great. But what was more unbelievable is they had set up our table with birthday and love in mind. Specifically for us. Everyone loved the food. A healthy alternative to your typical “takeout”. I adjusted a lemon chicken to a pineapple chicken and it was amazing. Don’t expect your typical Chinese , it’s all cooked authentic, and I loved every bite. Will recommend. My new local Chinese. (Please note I’d demolished half the food when I took the photo 😂)

Arrived at 5.45pm to order a takeaway meal. The place was empty & that includes the restaurant. The guy behind the counter told us there was a 45 minute wait. I presumed he thought we wanted to eat in. When I explained we wanted a takeaway he said he had 5 orders & told us to go to the Chinese takeaway across the road. Disgusting attitude. We won’t be returning.

The fact is, the owners have a passion for what they do. These kind of small, family run resturants appeal to me rather than big chains and the same old same old. Its the best chinese I have had around here and puts the takeaway to shame. And I order a lotttt of takeaways. It was so authentic and the food was cooked fresh to order. They dont really advertise takeaways, only if its busy. That's because they focus on the resturant.

I’ve visited tiger wok a number of times over the years and have never been less than very happy. The restaurant is a little unusual, quirky, eccentric? But that’s its charm for me. It’s a small, family run place, husband is the waiter, wife is the chef. Wife turns out some superb food whilst husband organises and entertains the guests. He may even sing you a Chinese song if you are lucky. Payment is cash only. I paid my bill and husband came over to me and gave me £10 back. He said “ I think you paid me too much” I took the £10 back gratefully telling him that I thought that some people might keep the money and say nothing. His reply to that was ;”sir, £10 does not buy my honesty”. It bought a tear to my eye, such a nice chap.

Found this place through trip advisor looking for an authentic Chinese restaurant and by the reviews that had been made decided to go. The restaurant itself is a quiet and quaint place full of lovely chinese decorations. The owner is a lovely hospitable man who clearly shows that no request is too much. We called in advance to book the table and he had set up candles and plaques about love which was a lovely touch. The food was absolutely amazing, meat was so tender, and the fried rice was freshly done and tasty. I visited here on Friday night with four mates. We booked a table but didn’t need to bother as the place was empty although the takeaway service was very busy. As other reviewers have said, the place is a tiny, quirky restaurant which holds about 20 people maximum. The owner is also quite a character! He could easily be perceived as rude but I think he is harmless to be honest. The food was lovely. I had red chicken curry which was tasty with a nice kick to it. The owner gave us complimentary spring rolls which were also very nice. Beer cost £3.50 a bottle which is standard. Five meals with few plates of chips and two beers each came to £100. I would definitely use the place again for a takeaway and probably try dining in again.

The owner is delightful and had so much prepared to bring out when we told him that we were celebrating a birthday just as we sat at the table. Photos are attached of the range of signs Stevie the Wonder chef brought out, the birthday card he got us to sign and the complementary cake ! The restaurant, very petite and cosy, was decorated with ornaments and hanging lanterns and had a very welcoming and homely feeling. This was our family’s first visit but definitely not our last. I hope to go here again in the near future !!

I can't quite decide how I feel about this place! The food is very tasty - though the Pad Thai didn't taste quite as good as in Thailand (and other Thai restaurants I've tried in the UK) - but the service is somewhat strange! Is the owner quirky or rude? I suspect the former, but think he could be mistaken for the latter... for example, he openly told us he doesn't like the restaurant being too busy, and that if large groups try to book in he tells them no thank you, go somewhere else! Then there was the moment he took my plate away while I was still eating... but the real corker was when instead of bringing out a dessert menu, he brought out a multi-pack of Magnum ice cream lollies! He was also very helpful in other ways though, so I think probably quirky... certainly an experience! I might just stick with using it as a takeaway though in future, as I think that's where the owner's heart is anyway...

So clearly it's not exactly like China... or so I imagine. But it's got very unusual decor that's very interesting. Little things show the authentic influences, such as the waiter writing down our orders in non-alphabet letters. Never seen that before! Really attentive service. We were offered extra rice for free to go with our meal. We were given an extra chicken swiss roll starter with our starter order and free prawn crackers as well as fortune cookies. I really enjoyed my starter and enjoyed my main and my wife enjoyed her starter and really enjoyed her main. Most unexpected touch was that as we left... we were presented with a free box of Chinese green tea! I don't drink tea but my wife says it's nice. All in all, we'll be back. And going on a Tuesday night? Had the place to ourselves! Not the cheapest of places, (£34 for 2 starters, 2 mains, 1 beer and 1 coke) but I will be back, for sure. Recommend. Oh, you might wanna know. We didn't see any desserts on offer. Except fortune cookies. I didn't care. You might. Also, book a table if you go at the weekend as there's like 5 tables in the restaurant!

Having been diagnosed with coeliac disease just over a year ago I missed Chinese food and thought I’d never be able to have it again. Thankfully someone mentioned Tiger Wok to us and apprehensively my husband rang to see if they had gluten free meals. “Yes, we do”, enthusiastically said the owner, then went into detail how important healthy food is for everyone and that he knows where all of his ingredients have come from. I had the sweet & sour chicken and it was delicious! We have only ever had take away but apparently the owner is very friendly and quite personable, especially if you dine in the restaurant.

I have been a customer of Tiger Wok since it was opened. The owner, Steve Cheung, is a passionate believer in healthy food and campaigns tirelessly to convince people of the need to support and eat British chicken. His chicken is sourced locally from a "Farm Assured" supplier. The food he serves is varied - primarily Chinese and Thai. It is always beautifully cooked and always full of the flavours you would expect. It is a small restaurant but Steve has striven to make it cost and full of character. It is tucked awqy, just off the main road, but it should not be overlooked - either to eat in or as a Takeaway. For all his efforts and the qualityity of his food, Steve's restaurant , Tiger Wok, deserves your support.

If you're looking for good quality fast authentic chinese food made fresh at the table Tiger wok is the place to go. We were given an amazing service so much attention was provided that we felt we weren't at a restaurant but had been invited to the home of a couple originally from Hong Kong who are extremely proud to serve good quality locally sourced food. The owners mission is to spread the message of live well and eat well.. and this was accomplished on our first visit. He was attentive, kind and generous and ensured our drinks were always topped up and our plates always full. I'd definitely visit them again. This is great for those who don't mind missing the usual ordinary restaurant experience where staff take your orders because they have to.. and for those who would rather be served personalised dishes made with pride by friendly staff who are happy to chat about what good homely food means to them. This was easily the best chinese restaurant i have been to in Wolverhampton without a doubt and the most attentive staff I've had the pleasure of being served by who provided us with a wonderful cultural culinary experience- demonstrating the importance of supporting local restaurants.

I have visited this restaurant for the past 10 years and I have to agree that eating in is an experience in itself. Perhaps not for all tastes but hey, you get your own personal chef and the owner is very attentive.I do however, have one main reason for frequenting this restaurant. Pretty much every other Chinese or Thai take away in the West Midlands serves the same old salty, bland, sweet, freeze dried veg and chicken that is bulk purchased from the local Chinese supermarket, hydrated with water, and then served up as authentic Asian cuisine.Tiger Wok is different. The food is great and genuinely cooked from scratch. you can taste the difference. I dread to think what some of our local take aways dish up as chicken....it doesn't even look like chicken let alone taste as such.Tiger Wok serves good quality, home made Asian cuisine. It is a strange place, but that's what makes it intreaguing. Many a time I take time out to review the "SALE" section of the various oddities that can be found for sale in the waiting area. Those that find this kind of thing too wacky, should perhaps pop off to their local Chiquitos or Franky and Bennys and basque in the monotony of the service that awaits you there.

Myself, my partner and friends came here for a birthday! A lovely quirky little place, full of personality! Decorations were put up for my partners birthday and we were sat on the birthday table! The host was absolutely brilliant very funny, friendly and made it one to remember! The food was gorgeous, and the portions were huge, we couldn't finish it all (not through not trying) the dumplings were amazing! I can't wait to go back, a very special little place!

Been here's several times and this place has never disappointed. The gentleman who owns this place is very passionate about his food. By his own admission he doesn't enjoy it when it gets too busy as he wants to deliver high quality food without rushing.Highly recommended.

Drove past this place so many times but never been in. Fancied trying somewhere different tonight so rang up and booked a table. It's a small quirky restaurant, the owner Stevie is the nicest bloke made us both feel welcome delicious food lots of different dishes that your typical Chinese restaurant doesn't serve and all sound so tasty that we struggled to choose one. Once we had decided we were not disappointed we had a starter each and a main course I had salt and pepper spare ribs which were amazing. Absolutely going to visit here again.

We have visited Tiger Wok several times with both friends and family. If you've never been before you may be surprised as you pull up on the small car park, the building is reminiscent of small restaurants found in parts of Thailand, unusual, small, homely and dare I say a little crazy.Once inside the premises you will be greeted by "Stevie", aka Stevie wonder who who what can only be described a fantastic host, waiter, cook and if your lucky singer!Once seated in one of the five or so tables your attention will be drawn to the unusual decor, but give it a chance and you will quickly feel like you are in the home of a long lost friend from the orient. The food is tasty, filling and best of all free from many of the nasty additives that we often find in UK based Chinese food.Stevie and his wife are passionate about the food they serve and wont cut corners in terms of the quality of ingredients used which they deserve credit for when there are far cheaper alternatives available. Sadly on our latest visit yesterday we were the only people dining in, it of course was still great for us with super quick service etc but we couldn't help think that Stevie deserves a busy restaurant 7 days a week.Embrace the difference, enjoy the novelty of this place but most of all enjoy the gorgeous food! We visited for the first time on Saturday evening. We arrived at around 8.30pm, just at most of the other diners were leaving. It's a very small restaurant with only a few tables. The only remaining couple were so close to our table it felt like they were part of our group. Luckily they went just after we finished out starters. The place is very cluttered and the decor is so random, I've ever seen anything like it! To be honest, we were very disappointed with the food. We ordered a selection of starters to share with out friends, I didn't enjoy the dumplings and the beef skewers were chewy. I ordered a veggie Thai green curry, it didn't taste of anything. I was do disappointed as its my favourite dish. Our friends thought the same. We finished the meal quickly as we wanted to go, we started to feel a bit uncomfortable as we were the only ones in there on a Saturday night and it wasn't late. We ordered a bottle of wine to share and spent £25 per person, which I thought was expensive when you look at the quality of the food. I definitely won't be going back.

I have been coming here to eat both inside occasionally, but to take out at least once a month for at least 5 years. Without exception i have never had a bad experience. saying that i do not judge my eating experience the position of the building to the road, or the place being quiet especially as it only has 3/4 tables! Atmospherically it is quaint, friendly and simple. There is no pretence, it is functional. The service, the mainly one man show (with some help in the kitchen) is also honest and real. I am sure he has good days and bad like us all but he gets the job done and even (often anonymously when ordering over the phone) i have never encountered any rudeness. Now, the important thing- food. Like is advertised by the numerous awards and articles displayed informatively in the lobby area much if the ingredients are locally sourced and free range. I do not eat meat, my partner loves meat and it is nice for me to be included in the main menu and be able to eat the same food/ have the same choices as my partner. I have not known any eatery be able to be so informative about their own ingredients, be so aware of dietary needs and even be able to provide written evidence of how certain foods can effect your health. The food is no nonsense fresh tasty natural. There are no artificial colouring's and reduced used of non necessary grease, cream and salt. This is not always preferred by the usual western pallet, given modern commercial trends and refined altered food with enumbers and colouring's. The vegetables are varied, the rice is always fluffy, the eggs and chicken are organic and free range. The spring rolls are always crispy on the outside, full of varied vegetables in each one and the prawn toast not greasy and curries are not eluminous yellow for no reason! Knowledge of the how the food is cooked can be provided if you have any questions. My 92 year gran with mobility disability has also been made welcome, respectfully and unannounced and she can spot cheap meat and frozen veg a mile off!Overall, after eating, i know i have eaten good ingredients cooked well because i do not feel bloated, i do not suffer with my usual IBS symptoms. My Partner does have his usual takeaway symptoms (i am sure you need no more detail!lol!) we both feel energised as if eaten home cooked clean food. Thanks Tiger Wok for being one on your own, a healthy takeaway that tastes real and home cooked.

We decided t try this out after driving past it for many years. A very small restaurant with that 'home' feeling to it. Absolutely beautiful Chinese food with a really good choice on the menu. Steve was very polite and hospitable. Would certainly choose Tiger Wok over the other Chinese take-away and buffet places in Wolverhampton

We have been using Tiger Wok for Steve's speciality Thai dishes for fifteen years and all the family have their firm favourites including vegetarian dishes. The lamb massaman, green chicken curry and bangcok beef are all regular winners and he uses very good ingredients with good portion size. The yummy spare ribs are the best I have had anywhere in the world. The meat is delicious and just falls off the bone. Steve will also avoid putting MSG in the Chinese dishes if required. Bostin' grub.We mainly use it for take aways as we live close by but Steve makes you feel very welcome.

An amazing experience at Steve's love shack! Starter of chicken and beef spring rolls between two were beautiful. Mains were very tasty and plentiful, very generous portions! Steve (the owner?!) is very charming and makes you feel very welcome. Despite being the only two people in the restaurant (takeaway service very busy) Steve provided enough entertainment through singing, fun facts and humour to make eating out a unforgettable experience. Go and do not let the Tiger Wok become extinct!

Similar experience, almost identicle, to that of maybemofo on October 25th 2016.This was a dreadful dining experience that I would not like anyone else to have. Neither of us could eat the bland food and it was also quite expensive. We were the only two people in the resteraunt and at 8 o'clock on a Saturday night I was quite surprised at the time.

Perfectly friendly atmosphere and staff. The man who served us today gave us spring roles and beer on the house which was a lovely gesture. Great food and generous portions.

Me and my girlfriend drive past all the time and wondered what it would be like here, being keen restaurant goers, we expected a certain standard. On arrival the owner seemed shocked to have customers. After being seated, "stevie the amazing chef"pulled up three heaters right up to the table, as first impressions that wasn't good. After ten minutes of him talking to us about love, we ordered our starters, specifically one portion of two separate dishes. The order was noticeably doubled but he said the extra was for free as he poked the food explaining what was what. After serving the food he then sat a few tables away and kept popping over every five minutes to show us his certificates or sing to us about cowboy chicken whilst we were trying to eat. It was amusing at first but then grew to be uncomfortable. the starter was extremely bland plus the pork dumplings had a very strange taste and texture. Giving it a pass we ordered our mains, of which the quality wasn't any better. Just before the mains were plated we heard an argument in the kitchen. As it seemed to die down, stevie rushed out the kitchen with a wok of egg fried rice, giving my girlfriend one spoonful and scraping the rest on my plate, the meat then came out and it Essentially felt like we were paying for somebody to prepare a microwave meal for us. Not finishing our mains we decided to take it home in a doggy bag, we then asked for the bill. Shocked at the price especially compared to the quality of the food. We paid anyway because we were happy to be leaving. We got home and both complained about feeling ill. We both threw up multiple times then decided to write this. For anyone who is looking to try this out we highly recommend you give it a miss, over priced and horrible quality.

It's a pity that this, once favourite, place to eat has resorted to scamming its customers. The business has ceased trading. Yet you can still place an order from the website, pay for it (funny that 🤔) and then have it's status immediately change to 'closed' upon receipt of your money. The telephone number for Kimono just rings out and the new sushi business trading from the exact same address uses ignorance to bypass what is obviously an incredibly underhand way of taking funds from unsuspecting patrons. Its fraudulent. No confirmation email. No food. No way of contacting anyone from either business. I would avoid HiTokyo, the 'new' restaurant too, that's based on my experience of trying to resolve the issue. Just dreadful. Zero stars.
