Tiger Lotus in Midlothian

We tried tiger Lotus tonight for the first time and wow outstanding! Food was 10/10. So fresh and tasty, chicken was melt in the mouth. Although we sat in tonight and a 20 ish minute drive from where we live I think this will be our new local takeaway for Chinese food! Staff are so welcoming, friendly and chatty. Restaurant is lovely inside and very cosy. Thank you for such a beautiful meal and fantastic service.

Had a quick Google search and thought we'd try this place whilst working in the area. Had a warm welcome from the nice waitress so was looking forward to some food. The food was very good and spicy like we asked for. We ordered our food and the waitress said she thought it would be too much food for us so we took some off and she was right as we only just managed to finish what we had. We both really it here and will definitely return

Anyone that knows me I would travel to and far and wide for a great Chinese and WOW ! this is one of the best Freshly cooked and the food is amazing Beef Curry & Mongolian Beef are to die for. Staff are very friendly and a lovely Atmosphere in the Restaurant I traveled all the way from Thurston Manor and it was well worth going I will be a regular customer from now on Thank you 💖

The food was extremely bland and overpriced for what you get. The restaurant is very bleak inside, someone said it’s like a bus shelter and I have to agree. Unfortunately the service wasn’t good either which was the cherry on the cake.

I really enjoyed the food in your restaurant and customer service. However, being in the restaurant was like sitting in a bus shelter The colour or lack of it. White!!! Makes the surroundings very stark and certainly not welcoming. Subtle warm tones are required ! Apart from that perfect

Delicious food, congratulations to the Chef!  Particularly enjoyed the chicken satay which was very tasty.  Excellent portion sizes for all four of us.  Friendly and helpful staff.  Lunch menu was very good value for money. We will be back. I recommend 100%.

Very good food and service. Varied menu. Booked earlier in year as we were going to be in Dalkeith over Xmas so didn't know what to expect. We weren't disappointed. 4 of us had different dishes, all very good. Would recommend.

Five of us went for a variety of dishes. The place was nice and warm and very clean and tidy. Service was excellent and allowed for a relaxing atmosphere. Food was delicious. Piping hot and presentation was very good Good value for money and drinks sensibly priced All five of us agreed we will certainly return again and highly recommend

Just had a takeaway for the 1st time here. Order process was easy, and the delivery was very quick! Ordered beef noodles with bbq sauce, which was nice but the beef was a little fatty/chewy. Also ordered the sweet and sour chicken which was lovely! Chicken was soft, tender, and tasted great. I also ordered the salt & chilli chips, which were a hit! The banana fritters also tasted fresh and soft. Would recommend to others and will order again.

We have been using Tiger Lotus for the past month. I am quite picky but we have to say the food has been excellent 10/10. The best take away we have ever had. Service is also excellent. FIVE STAR ALL THE WAY.

Fabulous meal. It was lunchtime, so quiet, not buzzing, but it's a nice space and I imagine extremely agreeable at busier times.

They forgot my dumplings & free prawn crackers. Food excellent and fresh as always just a shame I didn’t get my full meal. Though when I called they did offer to give me credit towards my next delivery when I asked for a refund. Didn’t see point in waiting for the dumplings when I had waited an hour for food. Appreciate they are busy on Saturdays

I tried to order here just for myself but of course what I wanted didn't add up to their minimum order. Most places I have been before are around £10. This means as a single person I have to order extra food that gets wasted just to meet this.

Got a Thai dish, peking ribs, sweet and sour chicken and noodles. Quick service and tasted good. Probably the best chinese I've had around the South side of Edinburgh.

Fairly recently opned, I gathered. Dined there twice. Staff gave guidance with the menu for which we were grateful. The cost was very reasonable and the service very good.

Generally a good place with nice food but I won't be back after being over priced by £3/4 even after getting the price down closer to the price I typically pay (no price rise on menu to justify this). Staff unorganised and have poor understanding of the menu.

Visited this restaurant for the first time tonight, food was delicious. The waitress was really friendly and great with our son. He had a great evening and said everything was yum 😋 highly recommend Tiger Lotus!!

Had dinner Christmas eve beautiful. Ben once since NOT good, just had takeaway still not good. Chicken king po, basically sweet n sour with nuts, chow mein tastes nothing like chow mein.... noodles covered in Chinese 5 spice and tasteless boiled beef. Definitely will not be back or order take away.... sorry guys don't know who's cooking but you seriously need to change your chef

Possibly the worst Chinese curry I have ever had. Sauce was congealed and tasted gross. Filling was mainly thick onions. Shame as I liked place previously. Wont be using them again.

First time trying this take away. 1 chicken curry, fried rice, 1 Thai green chicken . Plain curry was very bland and green curry was so hot there was no taste, it was inedible. Disappointed as heard good reviews

Excellent food and service at very reasonable prices.

Order was due to take 45 mins, it ended up taking nearly 2 hours to arrive. I called twice and was told both times that my order was 5 mins away. Obviously untrue. Was then offered 20% discount for the inconvenience, not received. Food was ok which is why I have given 1 star but not worth a 2 hour wait. If your food is going to be late don’t tell me it’s 5 mins away.

Ordered Chicken Pad Thai, it was all heat and no flavour! Also ordered Crispy Chicken with noodles and BBQ sauce. Chicken was OK. Noodles were a tad dry. Was expecting more Bbq sauce, it was almost non existent. Don't think I'll be rushing back to buy again.

Lovely spacious restaurant with very attentive staff. I tried something different which I wasn't keen on however the rest of food was lovely and i definitely would return and try something different. Excellent customer service and reasonable prices too.

We would actually have liked to give minus stars.We got a takeaway from here last night, it is not a mistake we will ever be making again! It was without doubt the worse Chinese food we have ever had - we got chicken curry, salt and spicy chicken, 2 fried rice, 1 plain chips and 1 salt and spicy chips. After a couple of mouthfuls of 5 people trying it and spitting it back out, it went in the bin! Both lots of chips and the salt and spicy chicken were not cooked properly. The curry was meant to be extra hot, as well as not being even mildly hot, it also just tasted like a bland chicken stew! A pot noodle tastes better and I don't even like pot noodles! Complete waste of our money!

Have had 3 takeaways from Tiger Lotus and each one has been excellent. Food has always been delivered at the time we chose and is piping hot. Have tried a few different dishes and really enjoyed them all. Hadn’t had a Chinese Takeaway for a couple of years due to poor quality of food but now we’ve discovered Tiger Lotus have had 3 in 3 months. Recommended.

This place is really nice. Most important is i was totally delighted by your service. Me and my brother went today for our Lunch meal in your restaurant. We ordered chicken hot&sour soup,chicken noddles and chicken fried rice. By some reason my brother not liked the smell of meat. But it’s quite okay for me. As he is not enjoying his meal. We requested the waiter to change it to veg noddles. He completely taken all information what actually he likes and dislikes and he made a special dish for my brother which is really so good to taste. We really enjoyed by your service. Will visit again

A special shout out to Li, Victoria, Wilson and Alex for tweaking our menu to include sandwiches, along with the most delicious Asian finger foods (and wines/beers/juices). What topped the afternoon off (beside the incredible service) was the offering of banana fritters, banana splits topped off with towelettes and fortune cookies. We have ordered regularly from Tiger Lotus as take away customers. Although our meal was nice. I specifically asked for no carrots in my husband's extra hot beef curry. I also asked for a extra hot curry sauce. But neither were extra hot, and I still had to remove carrots. Its such a shame because we do enjoy their meals. But the person answering the phone needs to listen carefully.

Visited Tiger Lotus restaurant tonight for first time with family, there were eight of us together. Staff were absolutely excellent, excellent service, food was just perfect and everyone of us enjoyed it. Will definitely be coming back here again A+++

Decided to try some Chinese food, having just moved to the area we were unsure. However, the reviews already detailed here assisted us and we chose to order from Tiger Lotus. Really earthed good and up there with the best we’ve had. The peking crispy duck was particularly good. We’ll sit in next time. 🥢

We have been regularly eating from the takeaway menu over the past year, and have never been disappointed. Had a meal there last night with my wife and daughter. Food was delicious and very reasonably priced. Can't praise the staff highly enough. A thoroughly enjoyable evening.

We had a party of 11 people for a meal. I highly recommend tiger lotus not one person was disappointed with their meal. I have visited tiger lotus once before and have also had a few home deliveries again was not disappointed with any of the food. I will definitely be back and also having food delivered. The best Chinese Restaurant in Midlothian is the Tiger Lotus, in Dalkeith, Midlothian. The food is amazing. We have takeaways from this restaurant and tonight we decided to eat in for the first time. The food is delicious and very well presented. The staff are also very friendly and welcoming. Anybody that likes Chinese food must try this restaurant, you will not regret it.

I just went in for a takeaway after hearing good things from my family. Disappointed is putting it mildly. A chicken curry that was loaded with onion and very little chicken. It was also surprisingly bland. Felt so let down. Would have scored a zero if it was an option
