Sunflower in Midlothian

The food is brilliant and the service is good. An old friend in the village asked if we could order a chicken chow mein for dinner. She is singing their praises as are we! The auld yin is very Choosey with food and we were fair chuffed she enjoyed the tasty food.

Arrived quick! Would have given 4 stars but they gave me pork instead of chicken. Bamboo shoots and water chestnuts weren't great, not sure it actually had any water chestnuts in it tbh. Overall it was fairly decent and the prices are pretty good, cheap and cheerful so to speak

Waited 1 HR 45 mins and phone call later only to be let down with this new establishment 😭 Food was bland Rice didn't look freshest No dipping sauce for spring rolls/crackers Chips had more salt than the ocean Bland beige food Feel gutted trying the place out

Delicious food especially the salt n chilli chicken, the salt n chilli battered chips, delicious curries and the general tap’s chicken is a must try and the portion sizes are plentiful, The munchy box is definitely worth the money

Pleasant owner quick service and reasonable priced

Just had the most amazing chicken chow mean with green chilli and chips. Meal delivered on time ,driver very friendly and the meal was hot and tasty.

Got a lemon chicken last week the sauce was like a lump of jelly the wife phoned Davie the answer she got was next time I will give you a bigger portion no bring it back I will replace or next time you will not be charged don’t think I will be back I have been going to sunflower for about 30odd years

Been using sunflower from a little girl and there is no other chinese place for me from costumer service food and delivery you cant fault it really nice family very helpful known dave most of my life

We have had the opportunity to visit China on a number occasions and this takeaway is as close to authentic we have tasted in Edinburgh. We shall continue use Sunflower for many years to come.

Had a view meals been fine but one night I got a hair in my meal I let him no he gave me one free but charged for the rice I I told him and he said the boss wasn't happy I told him I wasn't happy getting a hair in it and can't believe there attitude so am not been back they should ware uniforms and hats cleanliness go along way specially if u want customer to come back

Worst Chinese that I have had in a while. Not really any flavour just chilli and everything was greasy. Will never be back.

Been going to this takeaway for over 30 years and have never had a bed meal. Always our family's first choice. Brilliant.

Recently moved into the area and this was our first choice tried a different Chinese takeaway and this was leagues above it.

We use Sunflower often and the food and speed is always incredible. Owner Davie is a great guy, very kind and generous. The shredded beef is very good and chicken wings are excellent! Hugo & Lisa x

The chicken was undercooked the order was completely wrong and I did not get what I ordered the delivery driver was rude and ask for a tip my advice to everybody would be to just starve

We called for delivery it was easy enough and rather fast. They have the food hygiene pass which is whatbi look for at any place I eat in or from. Partner had shredded chicken in a honey chilli sauce (his usual choice) this one had more veg in it than hes used to/likes but he enjoyed it The egg fried rice seemed heavy/ greasy the curry sauce was alot darker than what were used to (isnt their fault) it's what we are used to. We have since found another local Chinese that suits our taste.

By far the best Chinese in the area. Food is good, delivery and service is faultless. Dave is a legend.

Never ordered from here before and read the reviews so thought I would give it a try. Can safely say I won't go back. I couldn't eat it.....it was all very salty, the prawn toast was burnt to a crisp, there was no wontons and the spring rolls were flat. Probably one of the worst Chinese food I've ever eaten.

I am not to happy with the Sunflower as I phoned 15 times tonight to place an order only for the phone to ring and ring then cut out.

Went along having ordered 4 meals, food was ready and service pleasant. I had the chicken curry that was tasty and chicken seemed good quality. The fried rice dish was pretty greasy and chow mein didn't have a huge amount of flavour.

We really love the chinese chicken curry they do here. Fried rice and prawn crackers are also great. Other stuff on the menu is a bit hit or miss but they are quick, good value and friendly. We'll be going here for many years to come.

just average Chinese takeaway.used to be good 20 years ago went down hill.not keen on beef cury.and sauce not the same.they do do delivery

Been getting our take-outs from the Sunflower for many years. The service is excellent, very friendly, whether ordering in-house or over the phone - Davie the owner will make you any meal you ask for - with or without your preferences. Best Chinese in the area!
