Beijing Banquet in Midlothian

Cold, congield food, tasteless. Food that had been sitting for ages and not replenished in the 75 minutes we were in the restaurant. Roast duck container sat empty throughout our visit, even after I asked 2 staff to replenish the duck. Not interested.

In for an evening meal mod week. We arrived early so to get the freshest food experience. We opted for the full buffet and a bottomless fizzy drink each. They have menu options and you can make your own takeaway box too. There is ample parking at both the front and rear of the building. We stood at the bar for about 10 seconds and were shown to a seat and gave our drinks order and said we would like the buffet. A reciept ticket was ppaced on our table with 2 large glasses and asked to go help ourselves. The terms are basically, you have 90 minutes per sitting. Its not obvious but I did see it written on their website. You can book a table in advance also. There is a big range of food from chinese soups and starters to sushi rolls and mussels on ice to yorkshire puddings and veg then a wide range of chicken, pork, beef and prawn dishes with some hot sauces too. It got fairly busy before 6pm but it was never crowded at the hotplates. The desserts were not the most appetising but thats personal taste. 5 stars would have been given if the tables were a little more spaced out (an unusually high proportion of the clientelle took up a lot of personal space 😉. The interior could have easilly been made to feel more Asian too which would have added to the experience. I do reccomend a visit, I have been twice (a couple of years apart) and the food has been consistantly good quality and tasty.

Arrive early because the replacement of what has run out stops.

We used to go a lot, but I can't accept my 10 year old daughter to be charged as an adult because she is 153cm. She is a child and her portions are much more smaller than adults ones...

Great selection of food, service was friendly and quick, plates were cleared in a timely fashion. Will be back for more soon. Thanks guys 👍🏽

Disappointed. After having used the Falkirk branch which has always been excellent. We decided to visit one of the Edinburgh branches. However, everything was subpar compared to our usual branch. Staff not friendly/approachable. The food was not very warm and the selection was not great. Won't be hurrying back.

Surprisingly good... Usually these Chinese all you can eat places give me the fear, or an upset stomach. But the food was remarkably fresh and tasty. The staff were also pretty friendly and welcoming. Only issue I had with the place was it looked a bit old fashioned inside and could have done with a freshen up. The honey sesame chicken was a highlight for me. Probs one of the best I've had.

Esta fue nuestra primera visita en un tiempo a Danderhall, ya que hemos ido a la rama de la colina de la vista en su lugar debido a la logística. Danderhall tiene un menú más pequeño, aunque la mayoría de los platos están en ambos locales, sin embargo, no hay pan y mantequilla en Danderhall, que fue un poco decepcionante, pero no el fin del mundo. La comida era de alto nivel, estuvimos allí a las 5 pm y el restaurante no estaba demasiado ocupado. Algunos platos nuevos en Danderhall también, que era agradable. Food was lovely. Plenty of choices. Too busy though. Waited a while on drinks but staff were friendly.

The food was good, however after booking a table for 5 we were cramped into a table for 4, leaving one of us sitting into the walkway in an already overly furnished room. I don’t expect a fine dining experience of course but a reasonable amount of comfort. Food wise, wide variety of food available not too much put out at a time so it’s refreshed frequently, this may mean you’re waiting a little for a dish you want but I’d rather that than food that’s been sitting for ages

Food is usually always very good. Sometimes it can be a bit too crowded for my taste but it's a good time out. Good value.

We went for a late lunch on a Friday. There was lots of space as it was pretty empty, but all the food offerings were fresh and regularly replenished. I woukd recommend the Cumin Beef, absolutely delicious and I'm not even a huge fan of cumin or beef

Kids prices are determined on their height not their age!! No pre-warning of this on their website!

Excellent! Great price and value for money. We were a family group of 8, 6 adults, an 11 year old fussy eater and an 18-month-old toddler. There was a GREAT selection on offer for everyone and all very fresh. It was our first visit, but it definitely won't be our last...!!!

Busy place, eat as much as you like, buy 1 soft drink and top up for free, reasonable price, definitely a banquet.

Tremendous selection of everything and food was great

It's quite delicious. It's based on white people's taste. It's overall sweet. It can only be regarded as a Chinese-style buffet, similar to General Tso's Chicken.

Great food and friendly service

Atmosphere was quite nice when we last visited. Was able to find a table very quickly and could start on our buffet straight away without a wait in the queue. Decor is lovely. Toilets were easy to find and clean too! Can be busy at times but was lovely when we last visited. Recommend for sure. Restaurant itself was quite clean. Very reasonably priced for what you can get. Quite a variety of well stocked dishes and plenty to choose from, even something for the fussy eaters that may just like pizza. Dishes were hot too and looked freshly made. A selection of desserts were on show including the chocolate fountain that was on at the time. A couple servers kept checking the dishes and replenishing them when they were getting low. Will be visiting again when next in the area.

Had a great visit. I especially liked the chocolate fountain and the cream cake with the nuts on top. Reminds me of bea sting cake in Germany. Friendly staff. :) Recommended.

Can't get enough of this place although no crispy seaweed available here unlike in Sighthill

Well, that's gone up since I last visited a Beijing Banquet! (A while ago right enough) £22.99 on a Sunday evening Food good and plenty of it. Service for drinks a bit slow and a lot of kids 🙉

Llegué para nuestra comida y un miembro del personal estaba fumando justo fuera de la puerta de entrada, lo que resultó en que nuestra familia tuvo que caminar a través del humo de cigarrillo. Nos sentamos a la mesa e inmediatamente nos pidieron nuestra orden de bebidas, no se nos dio la oportunidad de mirar el menú. Las bebidas tardaron unos 20 minutos en llegar y estaban mal, la camarera no parecía impresionada y tomó unos buenos minutos para explicar esto. El personal fue grosero y se topó con mi hija muy embarazada en más de una ocasión. Cuando se trataba de pagar la factura había una cola y otros dos colegas le ofrecieron ayuda al miembro del personal, con el que fue extremadamente grosero. No puedo culpar a la comida, pero toda la experiencia no fue buena.

Great food, tasty hot and lots of choices. Wee bit music in the background would enhance the experience - overall great and will definitely be back to visit.

Amazing as always love this place

The food was decent and the staff seemed friendly, although there were a couple dishes that should be pre-cut (e.g. customers were using their bare hands to tear pieces of pizza for themselves, leaving behind the rest of the pizza they handled). A few dishes were either empty or had been out for too long, and were dry from being on the warmer too long, but this is to be expected from time to time as not everything was freshly cooked and put out at the same time. Considering it's a buffet, table service isn't typically necessary, but we didn't actually see anyone aside from when we were initially seated which I thought was strange but it didn't affect my overall satisfaction. The food was better than most other restaurants I've visited in the area and the prices were reasonable. Would definitely recommend, and will visit again, but hope to see a few small improvements in the future.

Had previous pre-COVID experience of the sister restaurant in Paisley so it was good to be able to visit this location. Food, service, atmosphere all superb- very highly recommended

Quite satisfied, the food is not as Westernized as Chinese food than expected. It's called fried squid tube, and the shrimp is worth trying. The Xingzhou rice has some surprises, the freshly baked pizza is not to be missed, the shredded bananas are delicious, and there are plenty of parking spaces. On weekdays, the lunch and dinner markets are more popular, changing the perception of Westerners' Chinese food.

Absolutely no meat free options other than rice or spring rolls which never stated they were vegetarian, will not be going back any time soon

Manager was horrible and argumentative when we quietly told them about the cold dry food and how we were not going to pay £40 between us for half a plate of inedible food. They kicked off and brought the staff team over trying to berate us while telling us they’ve “never had a complaint”. Wouldn’t ever go back, sighthill was much better.

This was a very bad start at this restaurant as a small ginger lady I think the name was Millie I’m not too sure but she came over to me with an attitude and told me I need to stop eating and to go gym because I’m getting a bit plump and I need two seats I really felt hurt by this please have a word.

Everything tastes delicious, the restaurant is worth recommending, let's not get hung up on the prices because it was already cheap

Food and staff were fantastic. Very small food area though, was difficult to get near anything or walk through to get to the toilets or exits as it was busy and very crammed together

Food is good value but bit of a nightmare with regards payment. When a large group we had to pay in advance because we wanted to split bill. No biggie but more sort of chased out at 9pm. So don't expect anything later. Food is good though

We booked a table a 7:30 but by 8:00 the food was nearly gone only 4 of 5 things left. £30 each on a table of 5… and it was Friday night.

Eat as much as you can Chinese lovely food and a dessert bar well worth visiting, just make sure you ask for the refillable drinks

If you want to guarantee you get the WRONG ORDER, Then order food from Beijing banquet. They consistently send the wrong food for delivery and then when you call them asking to correct it they just say "we can't do anything just get a refund from just eat and reorder..." because 2 delivery charges and 2x40min delivery times is more than okay with them. Even when you leave an additional note explaining exactly what you want they still get it wrong... frankly it's almost unbelievably bad. Clearly incompetent kitchen staff who don't know their own food or cannot read, has to be one or the other. It's a crying shame as well because the food is actually decent... you just never get what you order.

Very nice food, a bit smaller than some Beijing banquets I have been to, meaning the choice wasn't as great as others but the quality was great from what was there.

Truly dreadful experience. Food was ok, nothing special but as expected. HOWEVER, 6 hours later started having diarrhoea. 7 times in 7 hours. I had plenty time to Google symptoms. Told restaurant next day and they point blank refused to accept they had not kept food at correct temperature. There is no doubt they made me ill. I reported them to Environmental Health.

Ordered online, still waiting after 2 hours. The restaurant pointing fingers at Just Eat and not willing to help us saying that Just Eat still needs to assign a driver (after 2 hours wait) and it is not the restaurant's fault that the food has ot arrived after 2 hours wait

Order for delivery and not gotten half of what I’ve ordered. Called to talk to the manager who couldn’t care less, told me to just get my money back through just eat. I’d rather get what I paid for, really not hard to do. Seriously suggest going somewhere else. The food I ended up getting was disgusting and cold.

meat was very strange consistency. No bite to it. This was my first and last visit to this one. We usually go to the Sighthill onr and love it. It was cramped too. Much less choice compared to Sighthill. Can't fault the servers.

The food was tasteless, bland and had hardly any options. When this was brought up we were told this was the first ever complaint and was not given a discount or anything. Avoid in my opinion.

This is an "all you can eat" buffet style restaurant. The food is well cooked and there is a wide variety available including aromatic duck and pancakes, spiced dishes and plain dishes. Vegetarian options are limited.

Absolutely delightful find. As much as you can eat for one price. Delicious food, hot and frequently replenished. Wide range of choices. Used dishes cleared quickly by smiling friendly staff. Only unpleasantness, was watching unattended children lift and put back food from their plates. Not restaurant fault but spoils enjoyment of meal.

Our family of 12 dined here on Boxing Day. The staff were extremely friendly and available. The food was to a very high standard for a buffet with plenty of choice and always enough there. We will definitely return.

There were 10 of us and we all found the food was not hot in some cases it was cold. Very disappointed as I reccomend this restaurant to my friends. Also the staff that took away the food hardly spoke English and hounded us all the time watching what we were eating

This place is a rip off my granddaughter went on Monday night with friends for Christmas meal 18/12/23 she is only 13 years old and her friend is 13 years also her friend was charged for a kids meal and my granddaughter was charged for a adult meal because she was 2 inches above their hight limit £14.99 for kids meal £24.99 for adult meal £10.00 more for the sake of being 2 inches think this is discrimination against tall people

Freezing cold when we visited. People sitting with coats on, other customers also complaining. Food also lukewarm.

Had afabulas night. Food was fresh and hot and really really good. Very good selection to choose from.

So where do I start we were there on Wednesday for our daughter’s birthday. Upon entering they made the whole group pay for there meal before even being seated and also the waiter was right in my face saying quite rude things about paying.Any of the group that wanted to go to toilet or for cigarette they were to ask permission before they left. The way we were treated was appalling and we didn’t get seated together when I asked when I phoned. Would not recommend if that’s the way they treat people.

Not bad experience, all you can eat food

The food was lovely but unfortunately the restaurant was freezing cold. Lots of people going to the buffet with their coats on. The heating clearly wasn't working and my elderly parents were freezing. We mentioned this a few times from the start but there is clear a fault with the heating system.

It was a spur of the moment. the food was fresh and a good choice. to finish it off ice cream and cheesecake 😋

Have been twice now. The food is fresh and full of flavour. The staff are friendly and attentive. Plates are cleared quickly and drinks ordered the moment we were sitting down. It doesn't suffer the bland same taste across all dishes that some other world buffet restaurants. Would highly recommend to those who like Chinese food. There's also basics for the kids, pizza / pasta

Second time being there , thought food would be better but so disappointed food wasn’t good didn’t enjoy it one bit , also was shocked to see when people phone in for orders they were taking food from buffet been lying there for while , i would be wanting it fresh specially for take aways absolutely shocking.
