Lee Garden in Midlothian

The best Chinese restaurant I have been to since moving through to east Lothian. Always call beforehand and pick up my order as they are constantly busy!

I phoned my order in at 17.50 was informed it would be ready by 18.50 arrived at 19.00 to pick up and was informed by the lady that took my order not ready I asked her when it will be ready again she replies not ready. After 20 minutes and 2 customers waking out I asked again. Not ready was the replie I asked how long she went to the kitchen muttered something in her own language kame back and said 45 minutes then abruptly said you want to cancel or not. I cancelled and walked out. Needs to get here manners sorted out. PS I spend on average £45.00 pounds a week in this Chinese.

An excellent choice for a takeaway Chinese meal. The special fried rice was very good value and the portion size was enough for two. Other dishes were hot and tasty and the preparation time at twenty minutes to collect after ordering was impressive. We shall certainly be back.

Cash only. The member of staff on the desk was pretty rude when we arrived and realised this having nipped out without any bank card. Ended up going elsewhere.

DONT NOT ORDER FROM HERE!!! Ordered a delivery waited over 1 and a half hours for my whole order to be wrong, so I phoned back to ask why it was all wrong, to be then met by a very rude employee on the phone saying that’s what I ordered and they wouldn’t do anything to sort it had to then reorder all my food which first cost me over £50 so now £100 down with no intention to be going back save your money and do not go here for food absolutely terrible.

Food was delicious it’s just a pity they don’t do deliveries but with food so tasty it’s well worth the trip.

An excellent wide ranging menu combined with speedy service at a reasonable price means that this is my Chinese takeaway of choice when in this area. Great tasting food with good sized portions. I'll be back!

The food is good but why does it take so long to be delivered?

Pre-ordered for Christmas eve. They let us down. We spent less time with family. Never in a million years Will I ever use Lee garden again. DON'T USE THIS TAKEAWAY

Got salt chilli chicken wings they tasted like they havnt changed the cooking oil in there fryer for about a year. Also got a chow main was ok nothing special

Great food. Large portions. Chicken satay skewers are lovely. Spring rolls home made and excellent. Would recommend anything.

Everything was brilliant but chicken curry bit tasteless n dry it looks like they cooked the chicken n poured sauce over the top pity

Always a tasty experience. Food is great every time. Consistent flavours and textures. My only thing is they don't do large spring rolls, I'd love those extra large ones you get in some other places. Other than that, I have no issues with the menu. This is a cash only premise. It's the only time I have to use cash nowadays so it is a bit of a pain trying to get money out then spend it all so it doesn't jingle in my pocket 😉

Great food. Fresh ingredients, good portions, and reasonable prices. Quick & friendly service - we didn't order in advance, and our food was ready within 15 minutes. Dishes were well packed, including double wrapping the soups. Very tasty, we'll be back again.

Got Chicken chow mien and boneless salt and chili chicken for a quick lunch. It was one of the best Chinese takeaways I’ve ever tasted. They use fresh green chilis and the flavours are really good!

First time using lee garden take away, service was great placed my order and food was ready really quickly. When I got home the the sauce tubs were wrapped in film to stop any leaks and the portion sizes are very generous. The food was hot, fresh and very tasty, I have not had saty sauce like that in years! Delicious. Will definitely use lee garden again 😊

We went here for a family dinner around 7pm. They took our order 15minutes after, then we waited an hour for the food to come. When we followed up, they said to wait another 30minutes for the food. Like are you serious? Those who come after us got their food and they told us that they only got small orders. Is that acceptable? NO. Also customer service is ridiculous, even the manager has no manners, didn’t even apologise. So we wasted 2hours of our time waiting for the food. My kids are all hungry. Chinese take away is better than this restaurant. We won’t be back again in this place again. And wouldn’t recommend to big family dinners cause you’re gonna wait for at least 2hours to get your food.

This is a cracking Chinese. Really tasty and very generous portions. Been a number of times now, tried something different every time and always enjoyed it. Be aware it’s cash only.

Beautiful meals. Lemon chicken with sweet and sour sauce - delicious. Charsui with mushrooms - very tasty. Noodles - smoky and delicious. The best Chinese we have tasted for a long time.

This is one of if not the best take away in Loanhead. We have been ordering here for a couple of years every Monday ! I should have given them 5 stars 2 years ago but Covid came .... The staff are lovely and the dishes are great. I would recommend lots of dishes but the beef in black bean is one of my favourites and Mr Kerrs loves the mixed meat curry. Shout out to Lee garden 😊💕👍

Phoned an order to collect ,told 20 minutes it was about 10 minutes late ,but they where busy food was lovely as always ,just wish they would give realistic times definitely use again

Food is normally lovely, service is always poor. Terminally long wait for delivery, so much so that they’ve now given up telling you how long you might wait! (It’s happened the last 3 times) Unwilling to tell you if you can expect it within an hour, 90 minutes, 2 hours or more…?! You’ve finally lost a long-standing frustrated customer.

This is hands down the best Chinese ive ever eaten! Very fresh, lots of options for vegetarians and vegans also. Truly delicious with excellent service by the lovely staff!

Very very poor no taste now just so different not a good as it used to be

The timescales promised for both delivery and collection can vary by up to an hour! 2nd last order was so late my wife had to leave for her nightshift before it eventually arrived (55 mins late). Last order I was told it would be 35 - 40 minutes, arrived 45 minutes later only to be asked to wait another 25 - 30 minutes. They even take the phone off the hook when busy because “it keeps ringing”.! Will not be back.

Enjoy the occasional Chinese meal and like the fact that they have a record of what I enjoy on their menu Also their delivery service is quick and friendly.

Not as nice as it used to be. We had char Sui chow mein and chicken egg Foo young, we always enjoyed the food there but the last couple of times have been a bit disappointing. Shame.

Ordered mix starters these were fab roasting hot when they arrived thourghly enjoyed . Chicken chow main fab fab fab piping hot lemon chicken and fried rice all hot and enjoyed the lot . Fast delivery for a Sat night and they are busy busy busy , 20/10 dab keep up the good work

My daughter ordered a meal through Just eat and said on app will accept cash at door great I said use cash in My pocket so one hour later get a message on app saying ordered cancelled with no reason tried to contact Lee Garden for over an hour with no answer Not a happy person it's not the fact order was cancelled it's because I just needed to the reason why will make sure everyone knows about this in all social media so it will not happen to anyone won't use them again

I ordered my food at 5:05pm this evening and it still hasnt arrived...2 hrs is a bit much...although the food is good I wont be using them again if we have to wait this long...to add to it the food was the worst I've ever had...the chicken was dry...batter was soggy...rice wasnt edible and as for the satays on skewers the coal for my fire isn't as black as they were...whole meal went in the bin so definitely wont be using them again

Another great takeaway from here, it’s always busy and I know of friends who come here from different parts of the city because they also rate it highly so it must be doing something right. The chicken curry is by far the best I’ve tasted anywhere, prices are good food is great and it’s a only a short drive away, the happy meal is also great value. 5 stars for the food every time though.

Tried this place for the first time last night. Easy to order and the delivery came on time. Good prices across the menu and lots of choice. The duck in black bean with the Singapore fried rice was excellent. The portion sizes were good too so you won’t be hungry afterwards. This will definitely be somewhere I will go to again. Excellent quality food at good prices.

Large portions.Not too expensive.Never had anything that I haven't enjoyed.Only downside is that on a Saturday very busy and you would have to wait a while so order in advance but worth the wait.

I have been going to this chinese now for well over 10 years and have never had a bad meal. Their sweet and sour chicken is to die for and I’ve never heard any complaints about their other items. The delivery is slow due to everyone in the local area using it, but it’s worth the wait in my opinion. Would highly recommend.

I’ve decided to finally write a review of my favourite Chinese which I’m sad to say I will never eat at again! It’s not the food, the food is lovely. It’s the service at this place, and by service I mean the horribly rude arrogant woman that answers the phone. Her manor is absolutely disgusting and should not be front of house for this lovely little Chinese. She should not be allowed to speak to the public. I’ve let it slip for years because I enjoy the food so much but no more. I’ve had enough. I have a food intolerance and she literally has no time for me, I’m simply an inconvenience. So been recommended to use another Chinese in Loanhead by my friends called The Peony and that’s where I will now go. Shame. Avoid.

Without a doubt the most repulsive meal I’ve ever been given by a Chinese restaurant. The chicken was full of disgusting black bits that I wouldn’t feed to a dog.

1hour 45 to deliver food on a Monday that was ordered for opening time is unacceptable. Quality of food has deteriorated. Been a regular customer but we have now decided to never return.

Sadly, my recent experience has not been the best as fot a second weekend running there hasn't been any Salt and PepperTofu on the menu. Poor show.

We decided to order from here as recommended by a family member. Firstly the meal arrived late and was a bit cold but tasted ok on the most part. Portion size is generous. Would probably try again in the future.

Normally the food is great but last few times have been unedible. Dunno what's happened. Prawn toast was burnt couldn't barley bite through it- asking for extra sauce on noodles ( instead get burnt dry noodles- was horrible. Defiantly won't be ordering here again.

Placed an order before 7pm and told it would be ready for 7:15, stood about like a right dingle in the shop until 7:40pm waiting on food. There was people coming in after me and placing orders and leaving with the food quicker than I was. Absolute disgrace if I'm honest, foods not bad but don't expect it in a hurry.

Excellent food, good prices, delivery times good

Not our usual Chinese and we definitely won't be using again. The 1.5 hours to deliver on a Tuesday night after 9pm wasn't a great start and the food wasn't any better. Dry, over cooked chicken satay skewers and the "crispy" beef was chewy and tough as old boots. Chilli salted prawns and crispy wontons were just ok but nothing special. Not worth the money, definitely avoid!

Best Chinese I have had when you collect. However they need better service when it comes to delivery. 1.40 then cold on occasions. To summarise if you would like the best Chinese at dinner time then collect it from here. If you want an ok meal at dinner time then go for it. If driving is not an option then order outside peak hours. 1700-2100.

Ordered bbq ribs from Lee Garden the sauce was RED!! it was thick and gooey, no taste, looked like someone had put tomato sauce on top. The ribs them self were very dry. I could not eat them so washed off all the red sauce and gave ribs to my dogs. Main meal of chicken & ham fried rice was not much better.. Rice was almost dark brown and very dry. Did not eat it. This is not what I have come to expect from the Lee Garden.

Very quick service and good food too!

Firstly i ordered a meal for delivery and when it eventually came it was nice but the problems were: 1. Inaccurate delivery time. It was 30 minutes late. 2. They sent the wrong order. By this time it was pointless complaining further. 3. Extremely poor service, the manageress was rude and unhelpful with no desire resolve any problems. Avoid at all costs

Utilizamos este llevar mucho en los últimos 2 meses hasta la última noche la comida ha sido genial por desgracia última comida era repugnante filetes de ternera noches duras como las botas viejas. Hemos cambiamos de la Alegría (o la nueva alegría, ya que es ahora llamado) después se detuvieron totalmente verduras eliminando el tofu en su menú. Estado en el Lee Garden un par de veces y he estado impresionado con sus platos de tofu. El servicio es rápido también - el viernes por la noche fue de 10 - 15 minutos, pero una noche entre semana debe de haber sido menos de 5 minutos!

Práctica ubicación, gran variedad en el menú, y el personal es muy amable. Súper rápida preparación y entrega. Carne y fideos crujientes son mi recomendación!

This Chinese is great. They are able to cook without using MSG. A family member is allergic to it and has been able to eat Chinese food again since finding out Lee Garden can do food without it.Always polite service and food is always hot and fresh.

Never had a horrible meal yet. Like there kidz meals there chicken balls are huge. There sweet chilli chicken is braw. Nothing's overly greasy either would recommend.

Decided to give the Lee Garden a try but unfortunately it was really terrible. Dry, overcooked, overpowering flavours, not very hot, unpleasant to say the least. The only decent thing were the prawn crackers. None of our party will be ordering from here again.

Our go to Chinese, by far the best in the area! Great food every time and good value for money considering the portion sizes! Delivery can take up to an hour but its worth waiting for something nicer in my opinion than having one delivered in 20 mins when its no good! You will wait an hour for any decent Chinese takeaway on a Saturday night so no point quibbling about that! The salt and chili dishes, honey chicken, chicken in plum sauce..everything is really nice!

My wife and I regularly collect dinner from Lee Garden..This staff are friendly.. The Thai red curry is amazing.. I often get the chicken and sweetcorn or the won ton soup to start both very good

Ordered crispy shredded need and rice. What arrived was been and black bean sauce. When I called back, I was told, this Ia how crispy shredded beef should be cooked. I explained there was nothing crispy at all and was then hung up on. Avoid. Do yourself a favour and avoid.
