Szechuan beef was pretty grim, everything else was good

Tried something different was great even order for someone else they loved it

Duck Pancakes - sauce watered down, pancakes not cooked. Sweet & Sour chicken - sauce watered down and horrid. Prawn crackers were stale. A shame and the food is normally good but tonight horrific

The last few takeaways have been really salty and soooo dry and chewy even !! All my family said the same !! Don’t know what you’ve changed “, But. Food was back to being tasty and excellent , well served and presented x

Absolutely revolting. All you could taste on the shredded beef and chilli sauce was vinegar and it was gloopy. The noodles were disgusting and tasted like muck. Chips were dry and obviously yesterday’s. Rice was all hard. The only decent thing was the prawn crackers will certainly not be back.

Had reservations after last time however on this occasion absolutely amazing thoroughly enjoyed it , driver was chatty and friendly top marks to him and to my food !

Worst Chinese in penicuik. Food is salty, service is rubbish and loyalty scheme is a con, you don't get the credit they promise. They don't respond to complaints or help when they get things wrong . Don't order from here plenty of other good options

2nd Chinese in a row i’ve had now that had been wrong or something isn’t good ordered a box and came with chips instead of rice and there was 3 bits of salt and pepper chilly chicken in it

Food delivered on time and piping hot! Generous portions in both dishes and an adequate portion of rice. Will oder again.

Just as basic as a Chinese meal gets. Spicy chips had zero flavour just cheap oven chips. Both the chicken and beef in different sauces were just stodgy and bland. Won’t bother again after giving it another chance.

Awful experience, food worse than sawdust with onions. Tasteless with half a container for the chop suey. The other meal morel onions than anything else. Never again!

We ordered a delivery at 10pm the order came with all the wrong stuff, tried calling shop but they are not answering.

Kung Po was not the usual and had enormous amount of chilli seeds, the mixed veg was literally bean sprouts, a mushroom and onion and was just under 8 pound??

had Lemon chicken. it was so tough I struggled to get my fork into it. my knife struggled to cut it as well. fairly disappointing.

Chicken so overcooked you could hardly cut it rice was old and prawns on toast were absolutely stinking they were old,not happy with meal and won't be ordering again from golden bell, disgraceful.

The meat was overcooked and dry to the point it was very tough to chew. The meal was poor quality and there was too much salt which was probably an attempt to mask the fact that the food was bad. I haven’t ordered a meal from the Golden Bell I’m years, so I thought I’d just give them a try, but I won’t order from there ever again…disappointed! ☹️

Chicken balls hard and rice was dry

Well I was very disappointed I ordered lemon chicken was wanting it really badly and got it but tasted of nothing and the sweet and sour sauce for the battered chicken tasted of vinegar and was very very runny in all I don’t think I will get that again or be ordering from here again

Mixed meat chow mein was very dry and tasted strange, my husband order was half the size of what we usually get... more like a kids portion.

Ordered tonight after saying I wouldn’t but everyone deserves a second chance….. but tonight food was so salty we couldn’t eat it and 1hr20mins for delivery, so sorrry won’t be ordering again

Probably the worst Chinese take away we have ever had. And after spending over £70 you would think that at least one meal would be ok( maybe that was the meal they never gave us ).

Meal was delivered very quickly and the portions were moŕe than adequate. In fact I have enough left over for tomorrow. The dishes were delicious, tasty and well presented.

This meal was basically ok I guess.For what we received it was very overpriced.I’ve ordered house special chow mein and fried rice all over the UK and I’ve never received such a small portion for the price charged.Also the noodles in the chow mein were super thin which is something I’ve never experienced before and don’t ever want to again! The rice was mushy,not nice.The sesame prawn toast overdone and super greasy as was the batter on the sweet & sour prawns.Not impressed, won’t order again.

The pork balls were overcooked, the beef was very salty and the sweet and sour sauce tasted like washing up liquid! not a great food experience, I've had food there before and it was amazing and this time around it's put me off from ordering again from them.

Over 90 minutes for delivery. Over an hour later that stated time of delivery. I would not have received my order unless I had called. Apparently, ‘just eat’s computer system’ went down!? Must be too difficult to pick up the phone and explain a delay. Just pure incompetency.

food said it was delivered on the app when it hadn't been delivered which was the issue rather than that it being late( as that was only about 8-10 mins ). the food was ok

3rd time I’ve had to complain about their drivers, 3rd time in a row they’ve purposely left my gate open after being asked and seeing a BIG sign on the gate asking them to close it because I have 2 dogs, 1st time my dog got out he was on the main road and had a bad leg after doing so. Tonight we were lucky he came back. It’s not hard to do a simple task but apparently it is. Called up to complain twice n no f’s where given as usual. Don’t care as long as they get money.

Just had my usual a munchies box which I used to order regularly but stopped for a while a the main chefs been on holiday n 8m glad to say I think he is back lok was lovely with not a complaint will b back

My brother and I ordered food, which we’ve done many times before however we put in the wrong address. After requesting that the delivery driver return the food to the restaurant where we would collect Upon return to the restaurant the driver proceeded to become very confrontational and made a point to try and make my brother feel bad because of the mistake and how hard it had made his night then completely blew Off the apology and stormed out. Staff in the restaurant were lovely but I’ll never use again as that driver is employed. There was no excuse for his behaviour

Mushroom chow mein is fantastic! The curry sauce needs work though

Food was okay other than the missing item that took 25 mins to arrive. By the time the rice arrived, the rest was cold.

Food was really disappointing in comparison with usual standards, it was tastless, luke warm and I honestly couldn't eat it....had to return it.

Absolutetly horrid! Everything was cold, tasteless, bland and very salty! The chicken and cheese spring rolls were half the size, burnt and no sign of much filling!! Totally awful and greasy 🤢 Phoned to complain and decided to drive there and return it! Couldn't speak to the chef as the kitchen was "really busy"!!! I'm now waiting for a refund from Just Eat as £40 is a lot of money to waste on disgusting food. No way will order from this place EVER again or recommend to anyone. Stay away!

Delivery was on time but wasn’t up to usual standards. Chicken balls- over done, bbq sauce had no flavour and noodles weren’t burnt. Disappointed.

This place was very good, don’t know what has happened but I’m finished with it… shame, delivery is terrible… not the delivery guys fault. Just using cheap ingredients.. won’t use again sorry

Food was barely warm, late, partially wrong and small but expensive. Ordered spicy prawn crackers but just gpt plain. The chicken fried rice had less chicken than the very crispy wontons. Not worth the money or the wait

So firstly delivered the wrong food, then when I did get my food, it had been sat in a box for an hour and a half, stone cold and the box had melted into the food because it was dripping wet with either rain water or condensation.

Quality of food was good, but wasn't very warm, had to stick it in the microwave for almost 2 minutes. Delivery was good.

Delicious 🤤 as always, prompt delivery. Delivery staff so nice and friendly and respectful. Food always piping hot and fresh. What's not to love!. Thanks guy's. X

Will never be back. Delivery never turned up and I was accused of lying and trying to con a free meal. If I was trying to steal, I would have ordered more than £10 worth of food. Woman on the counter is scum. Was only replaced after I threatened to come down to the shop with my ring doorbell footage.

Easily the worst takeaway food I have ever had. The chicken curry sauce tasted like hot water that happened to have curry food colouring over it. The chicken was awful and the noodles were rancid. First and last time going here.

Quite possibly the worst food I've ever tasted in my entire life. The chicken curry sauce was essentially hot water with a chicken curry food colouring and the chicken itself was anything but chicken, just fowl. Now for the noodles. I got the vegetable chow mein. The noodles tasted rancid and the vegetables were no different. I sincerely hope anyone reading this is more careful than I was. I regret not checking the more recent reviews.

i ordered sweet & sour chicken i was given chicken balls...Gave this place a second chance but it has not changed !!

Tubs are consistently half full. We've complained, and they apologised, but they still send you half of your food. We're not going back

Chips were great, the did it well done as requested which a lot of places don’t. Beansprouts also fairly good. Peking ribs were absolutely awful, fluorescent orange sauce and some mushy stuff over it🫠

Fried noodles where hard burnt and stuck together and was only half a tub rather than the full tub you normally get. Peking beef was cold soggy and gloopy again nowhere near what it’s normally like salt and chilli prawns cold and soggy all three were inedible and got put straight in the bin.

No taste. Got Ho Fan noodles, which weren't even Ho Fan it was rice vermicelli noodles. It had no taste whatsoever ended up having to fry it at home to add sauce and flavour which defeats the purpose of a takeaway. General Tsos chicken was also bland. Wish we just made our own dinner. Waste of money. Only positive was it was made fast and on time

Order was very late, elements missing without explanation. We ordered mixed starter and instead of seaweed we got some more spare ribs, but that’s not what we ordered. Food was barely warm and it’s very annoying that on the just eat app it shows our order was delivered at 19:15 when it was actually just shy of 20:00.

Food certainly not fresh, how many times were your chips cooked? They were rock solid and basically oil crunchies. I think I counted 15 chips aswell, possibly you have a hungry delivery driver?? Very poor and I feel like I'm being kind saying that. Portions sizes are ridiculously small from other times. Im so disappointed in my local takeaway. I tried to give you another chance after finding chicken in my veggie girlfriends chips, but now I won't be coming back ever. I'd advise others to only go to takeaway golden bell if they'd like to be disappointed with a Chinese in penicuik. It's went down hill unfortunately and food cooked like that shouldn't be available. I'm unhappy and wasted my hard earned money on the poor quality takeaway. I advise people to not do the same unfortunately. Extremely poor from you golden bell, I was a good customer but you have given me too many disappointments to come back from, unfortunately no Thanks 👎

Excellent value meal for 2 plenty to eat

Part of the order missing Fried rice hard and cold Beansprouts tasteless Tiniest pot of curry sauce - lumpy and vile Beef Cantonese - sauce tasteless Wish I’d read all the reviews before ordering. Worst Chinese I’ve had (or not had as it was binned) in years

Ordered salt and chilli chicken, rice, noodles, and curry sauce. Took 2hrs to arrive on a Monday. Sauce never came, food had no flavour, and portion sizes were small for the price. I ordered on JustEat as it had a decent star rating, but many of them were 5 stars but with a poor feedback. Trust the folks on here, it’s not a great takeaway at all you would be best going elsewhere for decent food at the same price point.

Food is bland. Everything tasted of nothing. Delivery was 30 minutes over time despite the app showing delivered. On person didn't eat any of their food at all beyond tasting (or a lack of) it.

Delivery was over an hour late, it came 45 mins after i phoned them and was told it would be with me very shortly. 1 starter item I ordered was missing, the Satay sauce i ordered never saw a peanut in its life it was basically a pepper gravy. Portion sizes were pretty poor too, not worth it in my opinion so i will not be ordering from them again.

Food was average, collection was excellent. Gives free food if you spent more than a specific amount of money. Rice was a bit above other restaurants prices but other than that was great. First time using this take away from Penicuik.

Order from here quite a lot but been noticing standards dipping a bit. Ordered the Spicy Garlic Chicken and it was inedible. You'd need teeth like jaws to get through it! You expect the odd chewy bit of meat as they try to offload the older stuff but this was every single one! Time to go elsewhere, luckily we're not short of Chinese takeaways in Penicuik!

Forgot my juice and it took over an hour for them to bring it out, food was average at best also, curry sauce never had much of a taste to it and the chips where cooker on Wednesday, would not go back or recommend
