Tiger In Chinese & Thai Takeaway in East Lothian

We are poorly catered for in east lothian for takeaways. Where we live we have to drive to the tiger Inn, as its too far for delivery but the food is worth it. The Thai food is a particular winner.

Got a great takeaway meal when visiting the area. Really helpful lady on the counter. Food was prepared quickly and was hot and tasty. The mixed starter for 2 was exceptional. and enjoyed the rest of the meal also.

I don’t normally write reviews but just finished my dinner and it was lovely, everything was fresh and piping hot, great food and really nice staff when on the phone.

Tiger In, in Port Seton is a great Chinese, very accomodating, best curry around. Food always well cooked and prepared. Highly recommend this Chinese! Can never fault them

Been coming here for a few years now must admit its my go to for Chinese. Never had a bad meal yet .staff at the front off the shop are always welcoming and polite if you need something extra or a meal tweaked. They are happy to try and accommodate your needs. Plus gives my cooker a wee rest.

Twice in a row I got a wrong meal, tonight went in and the atmosphere was awful, 2 sisters working there, full blown arguments between themselves in front of customers making for a horrible atmosphere, food terrible again, no idea what has happened so sadly we will not be back.

Picked up Pad Thai, shredded beef and tofu in black bean sauce on Sunday. Everything was prepared in 10 mins. All good and tasty. Friendly service. Cash only.

We have used both Cockenzie and Wallyford never disappointed always a great meal

Ordered Chicken chow mein for £7.20 Unfortunately was mainly noodles with no flavour. Not much of any other ingredients. More like an over priced noodles side dish really. Disappointed enough not to go back.

Called to place an order 20/07/24 and lady on other end made we wait a few minutes then was very rude and sharp on the phone. Hope the foods good as the customer service definitely needs improving.

Had several dishes. All were way too salty. Chicken was reheated and tough. Thai prawn dish was bland and did not smell good. Spring rolls were soft and cold. Poor value for money. Cash only.

This is the 3rd time we have used Tiger in now, having tried most of the local options to us, without success. This order was for 11 people, the person taking the order was incredibly helpful, and cheerful. The food was ready quickly. We collected as we are outwith the delivery area. The food was fantastic, there's a great selection to choose from and its fresh, and delicious. Every meal, out of the 11, was spot on. It was so good, I'll be trying different dishes, every time to see what else I like! 😂 Highly recommend and glad to have finally found somewhere that does really good Chinese and Thai!

First time ordering from here. 2 duck dishes but neither marked as to what they were. I had quoted the T numbers. One dish was acceptable but the other was full of fat skin. Disgusting!

Wonderful Takeaway: THE BEST FLAVOURS !!👌 We always look forward to our trips in and around Cockenzie, made extra special, as we get the chance to order Chinese food from our favourite Tiger Inn Chinese/Thai takeaway !!! We had chicken and sweetcorn soup and beef on skewer starters, BBQ ribs 😋 all good and flavoursome. We also had chicken fried rice to share with our portion of beef/cashew nuts and chicken/cashew nuts. Generous portions, tender cooked meats, with added chinese vegetables to meals, delicious once again, the flavours are wonderful. I've tried a few Thai dishes on other occasions which were gorgeous and some tend to be more spicy, but u can say not too much chilli or spice and they make it milder. Always helpful lady on the phone taking orders. Very popular takeaway on weekends not surprisingly, as its always great food. 👍 Thanks once again !!! See you next time x 😊 😄 x

Popped in placed order waited 30 minutes for the food got back home the order was cold and flavourless called back up explained to be offered money of next visit I said forget it I won't be back threw food in the bin as even the dog turned it's nose up to it what once used to be a great takeaway is no longer save you're money and make it yourself

Was so looking forward to this takeaway.. The food was lukewarm but the chips were actually REVOLTING.. saturated with grease and cold.. can't believe I've paid for this. Won't return.

Friendly counter staff. This place is cash only but they will take you order and you can go to the ATM while it's cooked. Food green curry and red curry was quite watery and not much veg in it either. Hardly any onion or pepper. Jasmine rice was very good and a large portion. A bit pricy for what it was but it was fresh. Just remember to bring cash and not card.

Absolute Shambles… Shame, because we have eaten from Wallyford a number of times, and the service and food is amazing there. Chose collection, we were told 20 mins. Got there and ended up waiting a further 20 mins. Clearly taken on more than they can cope with. Due to being overstretched, the food wasn’t up to the higher standard of Wallyford. The whole experience wasn’t great, we won’t be ordering from here again…

Always come to this takeaway when visiting Musselburgh and it never disappoints, absolutely lovely takeaway food

Asked for Thai satay got given Chinese satay. Coconut rice tasted only of lemongrass. Massaman curry was salty but meat was good. Prawn crackers were good. Asked for Thai coconut soup and got a Tom yum soup.

Very good Chinese food. Have been getting our Chinese food from here for sometime. Have tried a few other Chinese food restaurants locally but found them not to be as good

Order placed prior to Christmas for delivery between 3,30 - 3,45 on Christmas day, £30,20 paid as deposit. On arrival which was on time, the 2 packs of beancurd was inedible, this totaled £13,00 I called to inform them and request a replacement, only to be told they did not have anymore, on pressing further it transpired there was more beancurd but it was for other orders, Having voiced my displeasure I asked for the beancurd to be refunded and brought by the delivery driver, they said 45mins, that was at 15,39, no show, have called back and was told driver had just left, I had to tell them the two packs of spring rolls were inedible as well, not to mention the free spring rolls were missing! asked for refund and was told the driver had left and that they were very busy, The tiger in have totally destroyed a family Christmas meal and have done very little to rectify it, offering free beancurd next time was not helpful. Also rather presumptions as we will not use this incompetent chinease again, disgusted at the inability to provide edible food or rectify the situation,

My family always use the Tiger Inn at Cockenzie for our Chinese Takeaways and have never really been disappointed. However, I was a bit disappointed tonight. Don't get me wrong the meal was lovely but after spending almost £50 on the takeaway the only free extra we were given was Prawn Crackers. They advertise if you spend over £30 you get free Spring Rolls and over £45 you get free ribs but neither were given even though we spent over the £45 mentioned. Maybe it is just the rise in cost these days but they have increased their prices as well. This won't stop us using them as we still think it is the best in the area.

Had the beef curry from here, the curry was beautiful, the fried rice was perfectly cooked but it lacked a bit taste. Locals we asked where best to get food from, all recommended this place. It's not the best food I've tasted but it's by far, not the worst. Staff are friendly, service is quick.

Not long moved into Cockenzie and as most house moves go you can't or don't have time to make a meal with everything else going on, we ordered food from here and it really hit the spot it was hot,tasty,good sized portion and a reasonable price one of the best I've had in a long time and eating out in some of the big cities that's as good a endorsement I can give 👌💯

Having almost given up hope of after exhausting most of the Chinese takeaways in East Lothian, the Tiger In was our saving grace!! Brilliant beef curry, lovely and tender Beef. Getting the order wrong was a bit disappointing, asked for a mixed beef and chicken curry, like a special curry but only with chicken and beef. Seemed to be a problem processing this through the till, they decided to put it through as a beef curry with added chicken. Needless to say no chicken added. Didn’t think it was a complex request, nevertheless brilliant food!!

Food is very good. Always busy. Best done as ordering for collection as delivery can take a long time due to popularity.

Great food, if card payments were an option it would be more convenient. Service slows down during payday rushes so best to catch them off peak.

The food is awful. Keep driving and go to Lana Thai in musselburgh. Their food is ten times better.

Got crispy beef in chilli honey sauce and fried rice, and chicken curry and noodles. Well it wasn't crispy and it didn't taste of beef. And I've never seen square chicken. On the plus side the rice and the curry sauce were quite nice. Beef dish wasn't chilli either

Veg spring rolls are frozen from supermarket. Crispy beef is served with little/no beef content. Both above facts confirmed at follow up visit to verify experience as "normal". Prior visit was good hence 2 stars. Will not return to test more menu options!!!!

Gluten free meal awful. They took out all gluten ingredients leaving the dish unrecognisable and tasteless. Plain chicken in red water. For reference they mentioned leaving the MsG out but it doesn't contain gluten!? Awful won't be back.

As always fantastic. Every time I eat from there the quality is always excellent. Fast, clean, value for money.

Staff rude. Couldn't be any less interested. Took 40 minutes then got given the wrong order, then they "fixed" it, then it was still wrong. Over an hour for the food to come out wrong twice. Food is OK but the service was shocking wouldn't recommend them to anyone.
