Christmas menu lunch prebooked for 6....waited 45 minutes to be served. Certainly not festive.....crackers produced only when we asked.

Met some relatives here today for lunch, talk about a disappointment! The whole place looks like it’s straight out of the 70s. Toilets were stinking and the doors didn’t lock. Food was very basic, it was cheap but not great . Got a large steak pie and chips, would hate to see the small one as this was just a few chips and peas on a plate with a pie top on a bowl of meat in gravy. We did opt for the small Christmas dinner, this wasn’t a child’s plate but you can see how poor the meal was in the pictures.. Thank god we don’t have to go back

What a horrible hotel, avoid if you can! We stayed here for 2 nights, the room smelled so much of chemical cleaning products that breathing normally was a challenge and the window had to be left open. On the street side (418) and therefore a lot of noise. Every morning (between 5 and 6) a truck comes to unload stuff, making a lot of noise. The room was not cleaned in between and no clean towels. There is clearly no maintenance in the hotel, everything is broken and/or empty. NO free WiFi. Definitely not worth the money.

Welcoming staff, great little restaurant downstairs and solid breakfasts. Get the brie bites with one of their cocktails and you cannot go wrong. Room was overall nice. Comfy bed and very helpful Scotland guide that informed where I visited. Great shower with shampoo etc but the carpet was rough. Also, noise carries from downstairs and the hall at night and people tended to be noisy.

Old fashioned hotel with lovely staff. We had a nice room, but with a few tweaks, it could be gorgeous . Chairs in the window rather than a sofa so you could enjoy the sea view. A wardrobe more in keeping with the rest of the furniture. The four posters need dressing, not necessarily full-on drapes, but something the wall end. Also, the kerb appeal .we arrived via the train station, and we could see weeds and litter in the car park and seating area. The seats all needed cleaning, and the front door needs cleaning and Painting. We loved the bar really quaint. We wouldn't hesitate to stay again .

Stayed here for one night as a solo traveller in May 2024. It was just a stopover on my way by motorcycle to the North of Scotland. I did not have great expectations as it was at a good price. My expectations were well exceeded. Lovely friendly staff, nice bar area, decent enough room and big bathroom. Good room in fact for a single. The breakfast was faultless. I was greeted on my arrival by a staff member called Abigail. She was lovely (as were the other staff) and made every effort to reassure me about parking my motorcycle and its safely. I am not particularly precious and knew Dunbar was a decent enough area. Abigail really went out of her way and offered to get me something to use as a cover (which I didn’t take up on)…but thanks for the kind offer. The hotel does need a bit of love and it would have been a grand place in its day. I do appreciate the costs involved in running such a place. Just a bit of a spruce up here and there outside but it was very clean to be fair. Would be my preferred place to stay over in Dunbar in the future and I will certainly be back. Thank you Abigail (and the other lovely staff) who made my stay such a pleasant one. I know you are generally called Abi but you prefer Abigail/Abbey National (so one of your colleagues told me :-) .)

We were recommended the steak night, we went along with our dog as staying at another hotel and didn't n want to leave him. We were sat in the bar area across from the bar/reception. The steak was nice enough, atmosphere for me was a bit small and cramped, 5 tables at the front, I imagine as we had a dog this is were they sat us. As your beside the reception you can't help hear staff chatting away, these days you get used to trying to unhear personal talk amongst companies colleagues. We didn't see the rest of the hotel as we weren't staying there, but I hear the reviews are ok.

We stopped here for lunch today and it was excellent value and quality. The mac and cheese was delicious and very good value at £6. My partner had the ciabatta which was also very good. Service was excellent. Will definitely be back.

Very disappointing service, forgot or made errors with 2/3rds of our order after a wait of almost an hour. Then tried to charge a full service charge and were annoyed when we refused to pay this. Astonished this is rated a 5 star hotel What food was delivered was of a high standard

The service was great and the staff were very attentive when asking if we needed extra drinks. However, either the pricing or the food portions need to be adjusted! My meal was £23 for literally a small chicken breast on top of a dollop of mash potato, with a haggis ball and a drizzle of thin gravy/sauce - no vegetables or some sort of greenery added at all. My partner had the steak and guinness pie which was bigger in comparison, but the mash he was served was probably a tablespoons worth. Both meals tasted lovely, but definitely not worth the price charged.
