I was a bit concerned when reading reviews but was unexpectedly surprised with the great service and good food. I ordered a starter and a mixed grill and everything was cooked perfectly. Would recommend this if staying in the premier inn hotel (location of restaurant)

The food at Thyme is eatable but rather average. At this establishment it is best to keep to the basics such as steak and burgers! Our waitress was personable and efficient. Keep your expectations low key and you will be satisfied.

Ate here on two occasions whilst staying in the Premier Inn above it. We'd pre-paid for the meal deal, otherwise we wouldn't have gone back the second night! We waited over an hour, on each occasion, for our meals, despite the restaurant being quiet. We then waited a further forty minutes for our desserts! The fish and chips was terrible - the fish batter was so rock hard, I literally couldn't cut it. The chips were black and there were very few of them. The portion of mushy peas was the smallest I've ever seen! We also had the BBQ chicken melt which was black and burnt, to the point that you couldn't even see what it was! The chicken was rubbery and dry, with a mess on top. The waiting staff in the restaurant were working incredibly hard and having to pacify a number of guests. Our bad meals were replaced with average meals.

Myself and some colleagues stayed in Winchester for work and needed a quick breakfast before a long day. I've visited restaurants attached to Premier Inns before for breakfast and the experience is often good. This time however I'm wondering what we spent our money on. My vegan colleague was given cows milk for his cereal and in his coffee. He only realised after a mouthful of coffee. We waited 30+minutes for cold toast, bacon so overcooked I slapped it against the table and it didn't break, and very dry eggs. There was no point sending it back for more as we had to get on to work, and wasted enough time waiting for inedible food. The waiter also seemed put out when I asked for some sauce and salt. It wasn't at all busy so I am struggling to excuse this for £10 a head.

Visiting Winchester with my wife over a very busy Bank Holiday weekend, meant that staff in the restaurant were stretched to cope. The food was of an average standard for this type of restaurant, but was good value, both for morning and evening meals. We had three breakfasts, but regrettably one was served no more than luke-warm. No complaint made as the staff were obviously trying their best to cater for the demand.

Staying at a hotel with own restaurant is a plus in my books esp if raining cats and dogs and you don't want to travel out. This restaurant has the hotel feel.. But the food and service was amazing. Server Craig is a credit to the restaurant team. Prices are bout right for what I'd expect.. Great stuff.

Enjoyed two meals and two breakfasts here whilst staying at the Premier Inn. Nice ambience and helpful staff. Probably the best place to eat if staying at the Premier Inn. You could save a few quid travelling further afield but at least you don't have to go without a drink because you were driving. Unless you've driven here to eat that is!

We were staying at the Premier Inn for 3 nights. We had dinner in the restaurant on the first night. We waited 20 minutes for our drinks order to be taken. The starter, Tomato Bruschetta, was good. I ordered a Cobb salad and was told that there was no stilton. Eventually the main meals arrived, and instead of Cobb salad, Fish and Chips was produced. The waitress offered to change the meal and said that it would be 9 minutes for the salad to be prepared. As I don't like food wastage, I said I would eat the meal in front of me. Breakfast on two of the mornings was good, although the bacon was extremely crispy and the baked beans were lukewarm. On our final morning, the fried eggs were solid. We have stayed in Premier Inns on numerous occasions and the breakfasts have always been first class. Our experience of eating in an on-site restaurant was rather disappointing.

These in-house Premier Inn restaurants are always convenient and good value, particularly if you opt for the meal deal.

Stayed a few nights and had the breakfast here. A good selection of hot and cold food. Not a big hotel (100 rooms) so the turnover at the breakfast buffet is not as great as for some, but only a small wait on one occasion. Quality of food and drink was very good, the staff were friendly and the tables and room were kept cleared and tidy.

First mistake was going to the toilets before food came. Unisex toilets are never a good thing. Surely the MOD, reception or restaurant staff would notice that toilets look like they hadn't been checked for cleanliness in at least a full day of use.5 meals ordered but one didn't make it to the table for approximately 10 minutes after everyone else's. They did not charge us for that meal. Service was friendly and the food was decent and cooked well. Chips weren't hot and clearly waited for their mains to be prepared. A bit of tightening up on management's part and it could be a good place to go with the family.

More than just the usual full-English: light pancakes, tasty bubble-and-squeak, a smoothie, and a toaster that actually worked. Oh, ad a cheerful and friendly chef, Dennis.

Ok so food was quick and obviously this is no al a carte but fast food with a fork. Curry was tasty and the chicken in breadcrumbs really juicy and flavoursome. Biggest issue is lighting and warmth and the fact that they cannot deal with high level demands. Many tables have a spot light directly down on you so very glaring. And it’s not warm enough to take off scarf etc :( Waiting team try hard and manager was brilliant.

I can't praise the staff in the Premier and Thyme restaurant enough. We were a large group of 14 who all arrived at different times through the evening. We had originally booked a table of 6 but this escalated and the staff were so accommodating to our family. Service was super friendly, the food was timely and delicious. We were accommodated as a group again on the Sunday morning with staff helping to move tables. Breakfast was also fantastic, plenty of everything, including sauces, and with the breakfast and meal deal it worked out an absolute bargain! Temperature control in the rooms worked! And I had a lovely comfy nights sleep - first full night in about 2 years!

Excellent service from Joanna. We had the fish cakes and soup to start. Fish cakes were small about the size of a milk carton lid. Though adequate for a starter. The soup was luke warm but full of flavour. Our Pizza was ok, though my rocket was missing and it took awhile to get someone’s attention to get it. We had a mini dessert and coffee for dessert, the bakewell was quite bland though a decent size. We had the meal deal and this is ok for the money though if it had not been raining heavily we would have chosen to eat in the city centre.

The hotel is spotlessly clean and smart. Staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious with great coffee and a full English breakfast. This is a great stop over or for a few nights to explore the area.

Despite staying in the hotel and the restaurant being empty we could not have a table as apparently the chef could not cope with the 3 tables (one a large party) that were in! Not offered an alternative time and not instructed by reception that as staying guests we would have to book. Had to venture out into the City which was precisely what we had tried to avoid by staying here.

We dined there a couple of times as we were staying in the hotel. They have a reasonable range of food, which promptly arrived, nicely cooked. Wines by the glass seemed rather expensive.

I was inspired to write this review by seeing a Greggs eating numpty slamming the place for price. Yeah, they're not cheap but you're paying for quality ingredients and an amazing product which is value for money. For less than a fiver you're getting a huge sweet treat with complex flavours, a very satisfying, delightfully flaky pastry and a very satisfying and filling experience. If you want a hit of sugar and bland white, air filled bread? There are cheaper options! You won't get a limp chicken pasty here. If you want extremely satisfying bread made with high quality flour and an amazing crust? If you want tasty, sweet pastries with a delicious zing? If you love good food rather than ultra processed? Then this won't bust your budget and will fill you up. The venue itself is a warehouse with some benches other branches are much nicer.

Well said clearly on receipt espresso on the side. Obviously cannot read. Coffee was vile so returned and got snapped at. Won't be coming back here.

Have not been here since pre Covid. Other reviews were not so good, but we had no complaints. We were early on a Sunday morning so although quite a few people the service was not slow. The coffee was excellent, and the carrot cake jolly tasty. The toilets were very clean. For me I trod carefully on the terrace which did look a bit slippery.

Excellent as always, delicious food, reasonably priced, I wish I’d had room for a pud. Lamb shank is a treat, tender as anything with proper veg.
