A lovely hotel in a beautiful setting with a view of the sea. It has a friendly feel with nearly all the staff saying hello and smiling. Everyone was keen to answer any queries we had. The bedroom was spacious and clean with a large balcony and chairs to sit and take in the view. The spa facilities are very good, we both had a massage which was expertly done. We enjoyed the outdoor pool, it has plenty of sun loungers and a nice bar. The food in both the restaurant and the pub was excellent, we will definitely visit again.

Enjoy a room with balcony and sea view, topped up with intense deep-fry extraction fan smell - if you complain the answer is ‘it will stop at 9pm, when serving food is finished’… Also enjoy style of food from the 90’s, served by a waitress with zero warmth and complete lack of interest in the beauty of hospitality. The answer to a simple request of removing the pineapple from your child’s pizza is ‘we can’t because it’s all prepared’ but it’s ok as I had managed to convince the host to speak to the chef, if he/she could kindly accommodate this small amend. Be prepared if you order a bottle wine, you’ll be asked to say the number displayed on the menu next to the wine, rather than the grape type and the region; and don’t be shocked if you are also asked to confirm if it was red or white, so the server can take away the right shape of glass prepared on your dining table. No point to mention the disappointment in quality to the management, as you will be completely ignored, with a meaningless ‘we are sorry’. I don’t quite understand how you can get away with such a poor experience in a place where you pay £500/night, please don’t waste your money on this hotel, find a cosy place nearby with kindness and personality.

We celebrated our Gojden Wedding there and what a wonderful experience. Food service gardens views and most importantly we didn't need to use the car until we came home. A real treat.

An absolutely beautiful place to stay. The view from my room was amazing. Was my first time in a 4.5 star hotel and I was blown away. The room was clean and well equipped and comfortable and the bathroom was was lovely. The hotel staff were very friendly and welcoming and the breakfast served was very good quality and very well cooked but a large selection of foods to choose from. Was there for one night on business and said to my colleague that if I ever won the lottery I would live there in the room I stayed in. A wonderful experience.

We arrived on a grey rainy day. The hotel stood as a massive rendered tired concrete building. Outside seating areas obviously empty with no pillows or umbrellas up. We sat in the lounge area overlooking a car park in front of a fire place not lit. The lounge was comfy and the children loved the chess board! It was certainly the highlight. We then moved to the bar area which had a much better view of the sea in the distance. The service was great and appreciated the time spent in preparing our drinks. We then ventured downstairs into the ballroom area where we enjoyed a little table tennis in what felt like a forgotten room tucked away that most of the guests would not even know existed. We then ventured into the garden area and noted the rendered walls surrounding the swimming pool area locked away. The golf course and tennis courts looked great though. Overall, it could really do with lift. Perhaps it was the grey day and timing. I'm wondering if it needs architectural changes, maybe creating an underground parking area so cars do not feature in the view. Also completely renovating the exterior of the swimming area to fit the stone/ slate of the Devon landscape. Maybe even some olive trees at the entrance. I don't know but it needs something!

My family and I had a fantastic and reasonably priced meal at the Imperial on Saturday. The food was tasty, plentiful and well presented - and the young waitress who served us was smiley and friendly. Will definitely return.

Christmas lunch for 12 of us. Pre ordered from a balanced and varied seasonal menu that included fish and vegetarian options. Excellent value and we were very well looked after. Exceptional selection of well cooked Vegetables, recipe for the red cabbage please . Some of us were disappointed that we didn't have room for a desert ! This is a family owned proper pub with helpful competent staff. Parking right opposite but payment by card challenged some of us oldies.

We realise that this restaurant cannot provide a large menu especially during the autumn /winter but on our evening the fish choice was not on (replaced with a lazy prawn dish) and out of two desserts the crumble was also not available! Feel this is lazy as there is so much fish available locally and the excuses to not provide an apple crumble is in fact rather lazy from the kitchen. If you only want to offer pizzas and burgers, fine but don’t disappoint people with omissions.
