Thorntons in North Tyneside

Went for coffee last week and discovered that this cafe had closed down. It must have closed within the last few weeks. Always thought that it was quite popular.

The staff were friendly although slow when doing the drinks. The food is nice, I would recommend the bacon sandwiches , which were good quality and large. The decoration is plain, but there are pictures on the wall of local places. The cafe is in a good location in the shopping centre, in the center of Whitley bay. The milkshakes are very big and taste amazing! The strawberry is definitely a family favourite. The hot chocolates are delicious with just the right amount of chocolate ! The cafe is quite clean although, sometimes there are dirty cups etc on the tables that haven’t been cleaned up. The prices are quite expensive and they don’t take card payments.

We came here for quickness whilst shopping in the centre. The service was disgusting with both waitress' sat on phones at a table despite seeing me stood awaiting service. The flood was luke warm and terribly overpriced for what you get. Will not be returning!!

Staff are pleasant and good location but the food is terrible. Cheese had tasted off before in a children cheese sandwich and rubbery in a toastie to the point where I couldn’t chew it and had to leave it. The coffee isn’t great Costa over the road is cheaper for food and better quality. I would avoid. £4.60 for a rubbery cheese toastie.

One of our local cafeterias which we tend to frequent regularly. The hot chocolate with marshmallows, cream and flakes is one of our favourite treats. We have always found the staff to be very pleasant and friendly. We have tried the carrot cake and scone too and they have be tasty. To be fair, we usually call in for a drink and sometimes we may have a piece of cake too but we have not had any other dish to comment on. But our experience has always been pleasant. Friendly place to spend sometime enjoying a hot or cold drink.

Lovely staff but far too pricey. As for the food, l would describe it as somewhat average, which is a shame.

Visitamos un aperitivo rápido almuerzo con mi daughterinlaw, su hijo de 3 años y de 1 año de edad del bebé.Pedimos un sándwich de queso, un queso sabroso y jamón y comidas infantiles, un café moka y un americano. Me dijeron que si yo pedí un café de filtro era "en especial" y sería mucho más barato.El panecillo de pan era pequeña pero suficiente de llenado y unos cacahuetes en el lateral. La sandwichera era bastante estándar, pero la comida de los niños era una broma! !Nos trajeron una bolsa de papel marrón, retorcida en la parte superior y paquete en frente de Erin. En la apertura, encontramos dos sándwiches de jamón (una pequeñísima porción de pan), un paquete de diminutas frutas, whatsits - disparar bebida y un paquete de leche de chocolate (botones Dazzels con sprinklies. . . El snack bar. No en el menú.Había media hoja de papel bordeado de un libro de ejercicios y dos lápices. . . . . . . Apenas suficiente para mantener. Un niño de 3 años entretenidos. Tiene que ser la comida peor los niños que he experimentado en mi ocho años de ser abuela! ! No abundante, y realmente lleno de basura, todo a un precio de 3 libras. 95. Lo que una estafa.Para este "almuerzo" pagué 16 libras. 10, desearía que nos hubiéramos ido a Costa a la vuelta de la esquina, pero no pude entrar, estaba lleno. Ahora sé por qué había un montón de asientos vacíos y la actitud del personal deja mucho que ser deisired.Me sorprende que un reputado Thorntons están dispuestos a poner su nombre en este lugar! !

If I go for coffee in Whitley Bay I always go here they make a lush latte,the staff are very friendly and the cafe is very clean

Como otros críticos, solía venir aquí mucho hace un tiempo. Fue encantador? Como dijo el personal especialmente son horribles ahora AL CLIENTE NO centrado. Después me paraba en la barra durante un rato mientras chico joven termine un café, finalmente convertido y me ignoró totalmente. Me molestó, dijo estar bien... es todo aquel que sirve. Su respuesta fue el último insulto.. o así que pensé.. me dijo que estaba ocupado y que estaría de vuelta!! Yo me a decir a mi compañero nos íbamos. En este punto el teléfono sonó detrás del mostrador y otro miembro del personal de la tienda se lanzó contra volver a responder?? Mi comentario fue, teléfonos conseguir más atención que los clientes de aquí? Qué lugar? Fuimos a la costa, personal, café comida eran preciosas.

went in the other day. staff so rude. was meant to be hot chocolate but wasn't nice. slice of cake was more like a slither. worst cafe iv ever been to and so expensive

Utilizamos para venir aquí en una base regular probablemente alrededor de 3 o 4 años atrás, y era realmente precioso, un café acogedor con un personal agradable y muy buena comida. Era una alternativa más barata a Costa y nos gustaba aparece en un café después de ir de compras. Ha empeorado en los últimos dos años, es más como una cuchara de grasa de una cafetería. La comida es normal en el mejor de los casos y el personal son simplemente grosero (léase: común como porquería) no sé si ha cambiado de manos hace algún tiempo pero es realmente horrible ahora. Tan pronto como entras en el olor de grasa éxitos y apestan estancias en tu ropa y secador durante todo el día. Evitar. Costa a unas puertas es mucho mejor.

Food wasn't too bad but visited at 4.35 (they close at 5) and I had to sit eating and drinking whislt they put all the other chairs in the cafe onto the tables, mopped the floor and the staff having a good natter about where they were going that evening!
