Very over priced chips gravy and a sausage £5-50 where are the potatoes from a gold mine day literally robbery

A great addition to the Thornton area and has become a favourite stop for tea or dinner when I'm passing. Owner is friendly and staff are pleasant with fast service.

Smallest large portion of Chips I've ever seen. Really are chips that expensive not good

Deep fried haloumi fries were soggy. Asked for sweet chilli and got hot chilli called up and staff were adamant it was sweet chilli. Only waited 20+ years for a decent chippy in Thornton. First and last time ordering from here

Just recently moved to the area and very glad to have a nice chippy round the corner. Been a few times and had a lovely large fish, chips and peas yesterday. Batter was crispy on the fish, chips were great and was a really nice meal. The place looks very well run and clean too. The menu is also really varied with lots of options including kebabs and greek dishes too. All in all very good chippy and I'm sure we'll be there many more times visiting.

Food is amazing and staff very friendly, only thing I would say is that the portion of curry and rice is very small for the price, should be more rice and definitely more curry as it was very dry.

First time in after opening. Staff friendly and chatty and food was beautiful best chicken tikka I’ve ever tasted. Pity I could t eat it all portion size great. See you again.

Overpriced for what it is, small portions, doner meat felt bitty.. strange texture and a lack of mayo in the wraps just made it really disappointing. Ordered a meal of 5 chicken strips and only got 3. only real redeeming feature was the chicken strips tasting good.

There are many reasons why being local I did not want a chip shop on my doorstep, however I know the mindset of most is that Thornton has needed one for many years. Now open and on passing this has been busy, I went tonight, and will be my last. This is not because of the reasons why, I didn't want a Chip Shop and simply an honest opinion. On entering there were five customers, one was complaining that they had to pay a service charge when paying cash. The customer left saying "ok, I bring my business and I am charged for that, makes no sense". I presume the chap ordered online to pay in the chippy. Next person complained as she was over charged, it worked out they had got her order wrong, and i'm guessing if she had not calculated the bill whilst waiting, she would not have noticed. I was then served, and this is my biggest issue - It is simply the quantity vs cost structure. The tubs for the sauce are small for the cost The "large" size of chips I would suggest this should be regular The chips were soft, and for me, undercooked but i'm sure for many this would be adequate. The small fish, for £4 is small (and yes I know foodstuff is not cheap). I'm not overt in paying a reasonable amount for food as long as the quality and quantity is represented to what I deem as fair. Until today I would normally travel to the Seabreeze in Maghull for my food and sadly that is where I will return. Whilst many would say the cost of Thornton Fryer is not expensive (see example vs one other), if you compare the size of their portion size, this is where I feel the main issue lies. I suspect they are taking advantage of the lack of immediate competition in the area and as such hoping people will accept smaller portions and continue to frequent due to the ease on being on many peoples doorsteps. Example of costs:- Chips Thornton Fryer £2.30 - £2.80 Seabreeze £2.90 - £3.30 Fish Thornton Fryer £4 - £7 Seabreeze £2.00 - £7.30 Gravy/Curry/Peas Thornton Fryer £1.30 - £1.80 Seabreeze £1.80 - £2.50 Sausage Thornton Fryer £1.30 - £1.80 Seabreeze £1.50 - £2.00 Pies Thornton Fryer £2.20 Seabreeze £2.70 There are clear positives to the Fryer.... It is clean The gent cooking, made an effort to say bye to each of his customers The young lady who served me, was polite, although it took her three attempts to get my simple order right I hope Thornton Fryer, takes time to read the reviews and think if they want to be part of the community or take advantage of the lack in competition. For me, as stated I will continue to get in my car and travel to Seabreeze where I may pay more, but due to their portion sizes, I will actually pay less due to less food needing to be ordered and more importantly for me......... I have never had a poor experience with them or the food.

Hardly any Salad on the kebabs

Best fish and chips I've had in a long time!

Ordered 2x chicken tikka kebabs, generous portions, hot chilli sauce serves a kick and the garlic mayo is the best I’ve tasted in a long time! Mrs opted for the sweet chilli sauce instead and was equally pleased! She could only eat half of it. Great value for the portion we got 10/10 guys!

When I eventually got in the shop through the teenagers,couldn’t hear myself think cos of the noise of them.chips were anaemic and cold,dinner meat was cold.first and last time in this chippy.not much choice on menu.

Visited on Thursday 18th 7:15 had fish and chips twice curry sc. the best fish chips in Liverpool I’ve been looking for the last 8 years and I am glad I found your chip shop. Also tried your chicken tikka kebab meat which was Fantastic. Keep up the excellent work see you soon.

First time here and the large fish (haddock) and large chips were lovely.Will definitely be back on a regular basis.Staff were great.

Food ok fish not cooked inside not worth the £7.00 £2.80 for chips nice couldn't find any had to purchase extra realy expensive won't be going back

OMG 😧 absolute joke. New chippy opened in Thornton by The Crescent Shops. This ‘portion’ of donner meat is the smallest box of food I’ve ever see . Fork added to show size of the the tray This isn’t even salt & pepper donner meat this is just plain and the tray wasn’t even full £6.50 wow 😮 absolute joke for a brand new chippy just opened

Was a good chippy but messed up my order 💔💔 I asked for gravy for my pie and chips and they gave me curry sauce, a bit disappointed but food was nice.

I recently visited the Thornton Fryer and got their chips and curry as well as the chips, rice, and curry. The curry was incredibly flavourful, hitting that perfect balance typical of a good chippy curry—not too spicy but bursting with taste. The rice was wonderfully fluffy, complementing the curry perfectly. The chips were simply fantastic: well-seasoned, delightfully crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside. It is cash only, but there is a cash machine on Tescos, the food is well priced and for less than a tenner a meal for two is amazing. The staff were very nice, and the service was impressively quick. It’s such a pleasure to finally have a chippy in Thornton, and I’m thrilled that it’s a great one. Highly recommend!
