Thikanaa Bristol in Bristol, City of

Feb'25. Stayed in Bristol for one night and thought we'd try an Indian resturant. Thikanaa was an excellent choice. Sometimes when you see the word 'authentic' you end up disappointed but not here, this is really authentic indian food. We had the butter chicken, lamb karahi, jeera rice, chicken tikka and garlic naan's. All of these were tatsy and cooked just like they should be. The proces are reasonable and the service is quick and pleasant. I woud recommend this restaurant and would go there again if we are in the area again. Thanks Thikanaa.

We ordered samosa chat, bhel, pav bhaji, chole bhature and chai. Everything was absolutely delicious and perfect. Bilkul India ki yaad dila di! The chat n bhel didn't have enough emly chutney but they served us some extra on request, that made the dish perfect for us! Pav bhaji was completely cold, tasted good but would have been much much better if hot. Service was super quick, didn't have to wait much but everything was served together, right one after the other, may be the pav bhaji got cold while we were finishing up chat first otherwise that would get soggy! It was a race.. lol. And portion size for samosa chat n bhel was wayyyy toooo small for the price charged. Hence they felt over priced. Other things were fine. Staff was very sweet, respectful and polite. Even offered to click a picture for us. Interiors are beautiful 😍 absolutely loved the ambience, the wall decor, songs, even the toilet is beautifully n thoughtfully designed! Overall pleasant experience, but pricey.

Was recommended to visit this restaurant by a friend as it's local and very tasty. They were perfectly honest.. It is one of the best Indian curry restaurants I have eaten in a long time. The curry was delicious. I will be back soon

Living so close to this place is dangerous. Their food is so flavourful and delicious. They have lots of options for veggies and meat eaters. Their butter dishes are superb, and their smaller starters are so tasty. We love this place. Although their prices have risen a lot recently which is a little gutting, but still delicious

Unbelievable place for authentic Indian food. Been to India many times and I’ve never found the great tasting food in the UK until now! The thali was incredible. The butter chicken was exactly like the version I have in Mumbai every time I go. So excited to have found this gem. We will be back. The staff are so lovely.

We dined at the restaurant two days ago and were thoroughly impressed. The Pav Bhaji was absolutely delicious, just like the authentic flavors you’d find in Mumbai. The Pani Puri was equally delightful. This place truly captures the essence of Maharashtrian Indian cuisine. We ended up ordering so much food that we had to take some home in a takeaway box. The staff is also very pleasant with excellent hospitality.We’ll definitely be coming back again!

Update: the prices have inflated massively since we used to visit earlier in 2024- it's now £4.50 for pilau rice, and £4.00 for naan, and £3.00 for a can of diet coke, and the mains have increased by £2 each which is pretty obscene. Pretty disappointing. We saw this new restaurant open recently and had to try it because of the reviews and it didn't disappoint! Food was incredible, portions were good and every single dish tasted completely different. Hopefully this is the start of more restaurants to come on Southmead Road!

Definitely recommend this hidden gem.. Food delicious but dare you to try the starter bun with chilli and eat the chilli if you want a tear from your eye.. The service 100% Thank You for your ethic taste from your home to my very full belly xx

This place is must try if you're in for some well made side dishes, we loved the Thukpa and misal pav. The service can be slow if you visit on busy day / time given they are new but it's worth a wait, hopefully they'll pick up the pace overtime. I would recommend sitting outside on evenings and inside can get warm. Worth a visit and would definitely go again.

Thikanaa is one of our new favourite Indian restaurants in Bristol. The food is outrageously delicious and we feel very lucky to have found it. Last time we visited was over Diwali, the kind waiter gave us a free tasty sweet plus a discount off our bill. Lovely staff and delicious food. Looking forward to coming back!

Just had a family dinner at Thikana. The food was absolutely amazing and service by Aruna is ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Best place in Bristol for Indian food. We had special thali, vada pau, Hakka noodles, pau bhaji and rajma chawal.😋😋😋 I think this is the only place I have been to who does fresh rajma( not the can ones). Highly recommend this place. Planning to go again to try the paranthas😋😋

A family run business lacks hospitality management! Service- Got moved from allocated table for 6 ppl against 3 of us so we cooperated. Later found out the owners sister and 1 friend ( not immediate) occupied that table. It felt like stereo type to me. Service was polly lot of room for improvement. Food- Ordered Chole bhature (oil soaking in plate. I also hope that it was fried in separate oil than non veg items), Panner Kadai Veg and Naan along with rice was ok. Vada Pav (hot and nice) Gobi Manchurian (room for improvement). Interior - it was a mumbai based theme the same you see in India in an average restaurant. Pricing- Sky rocket high pricing yet lacks orders taking over tables on a table basis. Order Placing- I was asked to order at Till after which I realised they wanted me to pre pay for the order which no where in the restaurant it says Order at Till and Pay First. When asked Owner- he started comparing with Pappu Doda, KFC, Nando’s they have same system. Also added “Indians too lazy to come to till for order and Pay at tills, to keep the running staff costs Low”. Would you like such experience when your relatives take you to Dine in!?

Fantastic restaurant. I ordered a chicken Kadhai special & vada pav, was given the paneer version by accident. I'm not a big fan of cheese but now I'm converted. The food was delicious. Will definitely return.

Truly the best Indian food I've ever eaten. Go in, find a place to sit, then order at the register. It is hard to find a table when it is busy, so we waited for some guests to leave and took that spot. The waiters came and cleaned the table straight away.

Our server was attentive, friendly, and the owner who was super friendly made excellent recommendations. The most amazing Indian cafe in Bristol. Has the best Vada Pav and Chai. Absolutely heartwarming food. Don't forget to try the Aloo tikki chat also cause it just made my day. But the highlight for me was the Dal Makhani and the Butter Garlic Naan. My god is it sensational. I felt like I was back in India. Best hangout spot with your friends and family. They even play Indian and Punjabi music and the decor adds up to a classic desi dhaaba ambience. Shabby loved this place so go check it out cause SHABBY SAID SO!!!

If you want to try real Indian desi food in the UK, this is right place for you. Must try vada pav, momos, aloo tikki chaat, chicken Tikka. I must say that everyone must try this without any doubt. Staff is also amazing. Will come back for sure.

It was great eating pani puri here, the place is nice with full Indian vibes because of Bollywood/cricket theme painted walls. The panipuris were tasty will try other things soon.

Not very often one gets to taste the authentic Indian food in UK which is value for money. After Crispy Dosa Bristol, we're so glad to have found another in Thikanaa. As mentioned in other reviews, their staff has left no stone unturned to cater Indian street food the way it should be. In particular, their vada pav can't be missed on any visit to this restaurant. The veg hakka noodles were delicious as well. Looking forward to try other items from their menu on our subsequent visits. Seriously hoping they maintain the standards they've set out so far.

To be honest i placed my order on uber eats when they are available but after 1.5 hour of long wait i got my food in that time i can fly to Europe and come back guys very poor time management please do something about it..

Recently ordered chilli chicken and asked for it to come with a little gravy (proper Indo Chinese style) as was really keen to have this. I was really disappointed it did not come with any gravy inspite of specifically asking for it. Portion was really tiny and was served with some lettuce which was completely unnecessary.

Wherever I eat here I feel like I'm in India. I love painting and atmosphere. Food price is affordable as well as the test is delicious. I just don't like the order and pay system, it does not feel like a restaurant, I feel like I'm at street area.

If I could give minus stars I would. We paid £8.50 for three pieces of chicken. Myself and my partner paid for two of these which came to £17 in total. It came with one portion of salad which consisted of one tomato, a sliced bit of cucumber and one pot of sauce between us. The biriyani had barely any chicken in also which was disappointing. Don't bother ordering from here as it is a complete waste of money in regards to the portion sizes. Absolutely disgusting. Here I am making myself dinner because I am incredibly hungry after my three pieces of chicken.

Just had a cup of Indian tea with my friends but it didn't taste good (was sweet )

They have a Large selection of Vegetarian options. Mahaarashra and North Indian themed restaurant. Good seating capacity and courteous service. We had veg grilled sandwiches, Hakka noodles, Samosa Chat , Misal Paav and tea. All items are definitely worth a try Will definitely visit again to try other items on the menu. 2nd Visit - had Thali and Kulicha- Chole, both were really good. Only Gobi Manchurian was not up to the mark. It was more of raw Gobi sauteed with some spices and onions.

Friendly, casual dining with a range of Indian snacks and light meals, plus some Thai dishes. The food is simple and tasty, including dishes suitable for people unfamiliar with Indian food. A very nice place for a quick snack or an informal meal.

The overall experience was good. The ambience was nice 👍, a friendly customer experience by the staff.

Really lovely atmosphere, bright, with nice pictures on the walls and good music. We really loved the mango lassi and especially the Pani Puri - it was all delicious and very authentic. Our server, Raj, was excellent, and even told us how to eat the Pani Puri!

Incredible and delicious food. Last night we visited the place a little late to celebrate one of my friends' birthday around 9:15 PM. The staff didn't hesitate or pushed us to order food fast and didn't felt us that restaurant was getting closed by 10. We enjoyed it till 10:30 PM even later.Cheers to them. The food at this place is really great. The vada pav schejwan vada pav truly freshened my memory of Mumbai vada pav.The gobi manchury, veg manchury, veg noodles, and especially makhani Dal was wonderful. I can say the taste is one of the best in the area.

5 star, when they offer at the price, probably no one in Bristol can offer. When Asians looking to wake up their sleeping taste buds , this is where you should venture. From momos to Mumbai street food, they have it all covered.

It's the best desi/Indian street food restaurant in Bristol. Before thikana, there were so many things that we craved but had to travel to London or Birmingham for them. I haven't tried all of the items on your menu but I surely intend to do so one one by. All the items that I have tried so far are just amazing. Vada pao at £2 is such an amazing deal and taste is 100 percent authentic. My other favourites are ragda patees, misal Pao and Haka noodles. Must must must visit. It's such a huge value for money.
