So gave £20 note and only realised when I got home that only got 80p change and was missing a tenner. Rang them up and they insisted the till was correct. I only had 20’s on me and after arguing who was right they said they would give me £10 back. Went in the next day and they argued again who was right and admittedly I made mistakes as should have queried it there but manager was good enough to give me it me back. I asked if cctv could be checked but they said it wasn’t clear. If for some reason I’m wrong I ensured I would be back in and give it back. Very grateful they gave it me back but feel I can’t go back now. I would still love them to check the cctv

Horrendous, only good thing I can honestly say is the steak and kidney pudding was hot. I needed a hammer and chisel for the chips, peas were mostly water, gravey was ok. I will never go there again

Only 2 stars because the food was actually OK despite half of the menu not available. Didn't like the attitude of the girls serving like they were doing me a favour by being there and bizarre that a meal deal means I can't have my peas seperste in a dish it has to be over my food so the pie was soggy.i understand they probs do this so you don't have as much however I'd be happy with smaller amount of peas then it being all over my dinner. Won't return again

Absolutely vile paid 3.70 for cheesy chips to be given cheese slice that goes on burgers for them then to be placed in the microwave to be heated up absolutely horrible gone right down hill

Best chippy in Timperley. Know how to make huge fish and crispy dry chips to perfection. Superb and never anything less. Bought at tea time cos we're up North.

How can you make steak pie and chips bad, easy pie crust hard pastry dry and filling dry too and chips looked and tasted like they were leftover from earlier. Wont return.

dont go here!! We went in and it absolutely reeked in there of bad fish. We ordered anyway thought wed give it a shot because fish doesnt generally smell good anyway, but we made a big mistake. The fish was raw and soggy, when we came home my flatmates told me the smell is so bad that it has literally clung onto me. I had to take about 3 showers, light 4 candles and give myself chemical burn from all the deodorant and sprays to SOMEWHAT get the smell off me. I didnt end up eating the fish but my friend did and she got food poisoning. I literally never give reviews but this place was so bad im traumatised.

Would not recommend very mildly cheese and was inedible absolute joke.

Ordered cheesy chips, they came cold with 2 lumps of cheese on either side of the chips and was not melted. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS CHIPPY!

Used to be the best chippy in the area now it's very poor list food they don't have and haven't since COVID ! An when asked why still on the list they replied we just say we don't have it ! Also out of other stuff at 7pm even tho they are ment to be open for another 2.5 hrs very poor

Decent chippy, curry sauce isnt the best and chips slightly rushed. But maybe a bad day, had better from there. Had better at other places also.

Tasty, tasty. I was recommended to try their salt and pepper chips when I was looking for this food when all Chinese takeaways were closed during Lockdown 1. Turned out I was asking at the right time: they had all just reopened! I’ve had S&PCs from many places but finally tried this place on Friday. I think I’m addicted to them again now! This place does either my second or first favourite version of them! I’ll have to keep trying them to see who wins the competition. I had them again last night and will have them again as soon as I can 😇

Best local chippy by a mile. Chips are the right balance of dry/greasy. Fish is great, I usually have the chicken breast with chips and the hot Chinese curry sauce

Chips, gravy and peas and a large chips for over £10, shocking portions as the large chips came in a polystyrene tray and wasn’t enough to feed one let alone the two it was for! It also costs nothing for a smile, staff are always miserable!! Won’t be heading back any time soon!!

Been going to this chippy on for years, but over the last three years, or so, my experience has been very disappointing for a number of reasons. For example, the fish and chips have, on many occasions, been dark, hard, over cooked and bitty due to, I expect, the use of small potatoes; the fish and chips portions are shrinking every time I call in and yes, as another reviewer said, one particular, more mature, member of staff uses the poly' tray trick to give you small portions.This member of staff always looks miserable and has a snotty attitude. I remember calling in and asking for a portion of chips and getting a snide comment about only buying chips; this was in front of other customers too. I'm not going there again. I'm writing this review as a consequence of actively looking for an alternative chippy.

We have not been to Theo’s chippy for a while on our last visit very poor portions and fish under cook, today Thursday 8th July family having a Chinese meal I decided to try the chips and I can honestly say that it was the worst chips I have have had. They were warmed up about three times all dried up manky and there was many little scrap bits which if you bit them they would have broken your teeth, I am afraid to say that I will not be going again and have saved the whole family from suffering the sane fate.

1st time I've tried here and the fish was greasy and batter was soggy, was very disappointing, should of known with it being empty on a friday. Want be going back again, chips were just ok

Spent £35 on very poor overcooked dry food could not even eat salt and pepper chicken portions so dry complained next day offered 2 free meals They said i did not take back. But I had offered to take back what was left as inedible but was told not to probably did not want anyone in shop complaining . They offered £10 off so tried fish and chips and doner kebab fish was fine chips like last weeks re fried. Meat in donner dry (when do you ever get dry donner) Have had many good meals in the past but quality seems to be going down lately will not visit again.

A while back i bought a kebab with salad which is included in the price when i asked for the salad seperate i was told i would have to pay £1-30 extra what a rip off i have used this chipy for many years my average bill usualy around £20 but never again extra salad i can understandbut the attitude was ill do it but not again

Just visited for first time.... And last... Chips undercooked.... Not crispy and pale looked raw.... Pudding was okay.... Despite asking twice for lots of salt and vinegar still had to add more when home... Threw it in bin so did partner... Waste of money

I always over indulge when ordering from Theo’s, my particular sin is the mixed kebab but I have to have chips with it as they are so awesome. Really great food.

Great food and service and brilliant value for money

Food was lovely. The way a young member of staff was spoken to was completely out of order. Mistakes happen but speaking to your member of staff in front of a shop full of people was completely out of order. The poor girl was shaking trying to do my order. I did ring to complain and I hope she gets a very big apology off everyone. Really shocked!

This site needs updating with a menu list and current prices, and one that is available to update whenever the prices or food change. If this is set up properly it is easy for Theo's to make menu changes easy showing date of changes. When we have a few visitors it would be good to order on phone and have it delivered. Also needs updating to accept current and credit cards.

Seems to be going down hill. Portion sizes are small and fish isn't great either. Overcooked and overpriced for the size. Chips were coated in black bits too. Used to be a good chippy. Shame it's not what it used to be.

I deserted Theo's as the Portion sizes are getting ridiculously small even tho it's one of the more expensive chippies , i now go to timperley fish bar which is much cheaper with massive portions👌

I come here alot but been abit put off recently due to one member of staffs portion sizes, I buy a kebab and normally get served by Alex who is fine but recently there has been a taller slimmer Greek looking guy working the kebab section who gives you ridiculously small portions. Will still use the chippy but only get kebabs when Alex is on 😁👍

Chips weren't great and they didn't give us our other portion of mushy peas otherwise good service and nice haddock

Never been to this chippy before so gave it a try tonight. Seemed to be better value than my regular chippy & the portion was big but the chips were not cooked enough and the young female server absolutely drowned my food in chilli sauce making it completely inedible. Very disappointed.

Came here as my local wasn’t open, wanted fish chips n peas, it was all piled on top of each other in a tray looking like slop, the fish was soggy and covered in pea juice! Would not feed it to my dogs! Defo won’t be going there again

A Fine Kettle of Fish, also known as Theo's, which is on Shaftesbury Avenue , Timperley, is expanding. Yeah ! Its expanding into the old newspaper / sweetshop next-door. Its going to do alot larger choice menu , including pizza's and a lot more . They are doing the work now, so look out for the opening.

went to theo’s last week. the food was lovely and the girls very friendly. however, i was taken back by the bad attatude the polish? lad that works there. his attitude towards the younger girl was beyond belief. the older girl did stand in and stick up for her and tell him to leave her alone. i wouldn’t mind if he was telling her off for doing something wrong but he wasn’t he was really being a bully and could see she was scared of him. i have been coming to theo’s for years and i try my best to not to be served by him because he’s always ok with staff but rude with the girls that work there. overall food is perfect need to get rid of that lad though

The challenge burger is something else. Happy days.

Best chipshop in Manchester by a mile could do with better sauce for Kebab's

Have been in tonight to buy 3 portions of chips and mushy peas ( cooked fish at home as daughter is gluten free ) and the chips were awful , it was obviously the end of the batch and there were so many bits in each portion.Normally the quality is very good not sure why it was so poor tonight .

Called in on my way to work ( night shift ) at approximately 16.30 on Monday. I was hoping to get some donner or chicken meat with salad but whilst looking at the meats cooking and trying to decide a member of staff grunted from a distance a mainly incoherent sentence about certain foods not being available on a Monday. Now as I was quite clearly looking at the meats on the “ spit “ I took it she meant those were not available which I thought was strange however I opted for fish n chips instead. No less than 2 minutes later a guy walks in and asks for donner meat on a barm ( each to their own ) which he promptly received. Slightly confused by this I advised the lady cooking the fish I had changed my mind and that I wanted a chicken salad to which she replied “ you can’t, we cook to order so you will have to have the fish “ ! I was slightly taken aback by her comments and the tone of her voice because if I don’t want fish I don’t have to have fish. Anyway, at that point I had a decision to make stick with fish n chips or leave I opted to stick with fish n chips cos I had 30 mins to eat my food and get to work. It goes without saying I will not be returning, well not until Nora Batty and Olive Rudge anyway! Ps Fish n Chips were average.

5*** rating love this chippy only down fall is been asking for a menu when get delivery but driver always forgets but never the less love theos Just maybe think about giving a menu with every delivery order...

Didn’t think about reviewing the local chip shop Would probably say this is a 3.5 All good but nothing exceptional Fish fresh and chips tasty Kebabs are normally good from here. However you can’t beat the original Fine Kettle of Fish !

Went to get some fish and chips from this fabulous chippy to find the door open at 9.30pm all the lights on and I was greeted by a hard faced woman who was arrogant and nasty "we close at 9pm" she shouted at me. Doesn't say that on the door I replied, to be hurled abuse and shouted at is not what I or anyone would expect from a reputable chippy. Never seen this woman before and I hope Theo gets rid of her.

Golden batter, white sweet fish and chips to die for. What a great meal in the paper the kids loved it.

If and whenever we are celebrating any special occasion I always go to the best fish n chip place around. The staff are always polite and the food is always cooked fresh

Excellent. Delicious. Fast delivery. The fish was beautifully cooked, the batter crispy and the chips perfect. My vegetable Singapore noodles without carrots and with double egg was, as always, scrumptious and there is enough left for lunch tomorrow yum. Thank you.
