Review for Mr Chips: Upon entering found the staff to be fairly friendly and a good atmosphere of the premises with the radio playing in the background and a perfect number of people. The place was neither too packed nor abandoned. I found the food preparation time to be slightly longer then average unfortunately but I'd say at least the prices where very good for a variety of the options they had presented. The staff I'd have say as a bonus where sociable yet still ensured to do there job to a good quality. As a bonus they were very attentive to ensuring all tables, sides and so on were kept spotless. This is a very clean establishment. The food I'd say was a fair quality not amazing but not awful but worth it as of the good price I paid. Another bonus was the outdoor seating availability which is perfect for the lovely weather at the time. Overall I would recommend this establishment.

Excellent food, staff where very nice and attentive, the fish and chips was georgeus. Would definately recommend this chippy to friends and family.

We visit Mr Chips as often as we can. The quality is spot on and the staff are second to non. Well worth a visit.

I popped in here for lunch one Monday. The staff were really friendly and helpful and I was seated quickly. The menu is simple but plenty of choice and great prices. I ordered the fish, chips and peas along with a barm cake. The fish was excellent and cooked well. It tasted absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was great and staff both friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

This particular fish and chip shop brought back all of the childhood memories in regards to the service which was second to none and also the quality of the food was 10/10 highly recommended waitresses and behind the counter staff were all so welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed

Been in this chips many times over the years,always impressed with the quality of the fish but not today. The cod wasn’t nice ,grey and tough not flakey and white not sure if it’s changed hands. My husband enjoyed his chips but I didn’t enjoy mine at all.

Have been on numerous occasions propped in last week for a sit down chippy lunch,excellent food,staff friendly, will definitely use again.

Chips were nice but portions seemed to have shrunk considerably since my last visit. Fish was cold and had to be sent back. Only one staff member was working hard the rest in the dinning room seemed disinterested. The food was brought out after a long wait then we had to ask 3 times for cutlery as the food got cold. Used to be a great chippy but wont be going back.

only use this chippy occasionally when in town besides the usual fish and chips there is also a good selection of meals to be had in the cafe adjoining the chip shop where you can also get a beer or wine and such whilst enjoying a very good meal good prices and great food 100% recommend

Been in here for lunch ordered jumbo fish chips and peas think the fish had swam through the batter had more fish in a fish finger peas tepid and chips were not that good to say they deal as fish and chip shop won't be going there ever again bloke next to us on table said he came straight from hospital as he couldn't eat the food there only to be severed substandard food here not GOOD

Only had a chip barm but chips cooked fresh. Nice and dry and not greasy. Let down by a very poor quality barm cake.

without a doubt the WORST chippy in Wigan, had to give minimum 1 star should be much less, Staff are too slow to serve, prices are ridiculously high, best to avoid and use another chippy

Nice little Chippy, can only rate it as average as there was nothing special about the food or premises. The only negative for me was the bread, if they are charging 40 pence a slice I’d expect it to at least be fresh!!Call me fussy but if I’m making a chip butty I expect to be able to fold my bread in half.

Me and some family members bought a large chips from here many years ago, the food was delicious and we certainly enjoyed them.

Fast service, but we were overcharged, I queried this with the staff and was ignored - "you have been charged for a large fish" - no large fish on menu. Was given a receipt for the total and not itemised. Also food underdone. First and last visit - sorry.

Staff act weird with you if you are under 30. Horrible dry food and forget what you've ordered. Charged me for curry and didn't give me any. What a dive.

Este solía ser el mejor "fish and chips" en Wigan. Las patatas fritas y pescado eran verdadera calidad y la salsa era para morirse. Por desgracia visitamos hoy para encontrar lo que sólo puedo describir como el contenido de un centro de la ciudad de bin en la bandeja. Puede muy bien haber sido roadkill. El chico tiró algún tipo de pescado en la bandeja (no tanto como un pez, me tienes que llamar Torchwood), y luego cubierto con unos 10 reseca, sobre patatas cocinadas. Realmente no sé cómo él tenía la mejilla para servir. Después de pescar a unos 3 chips que tenía que vierten nuestros comestible sobras en una mesa afuera. En serio, es tan malo, solo supongo que ha sido tomada y ahora está siendo dirigido por alguien que no tiene ni idea acerca de la ejecución de un buen "fish and chips". El chico tenía vergüenza de servir.

Reading the reviews for this chip shop we must have gone on a bad day the chips were cold stewed as though they had been warmed up my husband ordered a fish with his chips asked for one with not a lot of batter as a young lad had one on the next table and it looked like it was thick batter it came within 10 seconds just looked like the one the lad had no different so haven't gone to the trouble of cooking one with tin batter he couldn't eat it he said it was like rubber we ended up leaving most of the food and just paid the bill the girl could see we hadent eaten much but just took the money without asking was everything ok we usually go the the chippery don't know why we decided to have a change but deffinatly won't be going back to Mr chips again

Lovely staff,very friendly, good portions majority of the time, I've in the restaurant on a couple of occasions, always a good meal.

Nothing wrong whatsoever here, a very nice chippy and very friendly service, at the end of the day it's a chippy but if you do the simple things right then you can't go far wrong, try the chips and gravy.

got to be the best Chippy in town very reasonably priced good sized fish crispy chips and of course mushy peas they also have a dining room attached next door fully licenced where you are able to order more than just fish and chips very good reasonably priced place not surprising its so good as it has the same owner as Gallimores

We have been here for a chippy tea a few times and have found the chips to be nicer when they aren't so busy so the chips get cooked a little longer and drain a little longer also but I suppose that's true of most chippies

I called into this chip shop / restaurant. ( it has two halves ) at just before 3 pm. The chip shop part was just closing , I said "Thats ok , I just fancied Fish and Peas " , I can call back earlier in the day Tomorrow. The young lady serving was so lovely and understanding , saying. " It's freezing outside , sit in the Restaurant section , I will put you a fresh fish in as we are now cleaning the Chippery part of the business. ". ,,! I then received the biggest most succulent fish I have had for a long time. Well a Done to Howard and the Girls. XGary Dever.

Can not find a better fish and chips the cafe can not be beaten eat in or take away you have to try it

This cafe situated near to the bus station serves chip shop items and breakfast items as well as other things such as potato dinners. Friendly service, the only thing we could fault about the place is that the breakfast items and chip shop items came out at different times as they were cooked in different part of the cafe. Every time we come to Wigan we eat here. It's always sad when we have to say goodbye to Mr Chips..

Belting . proper chips un fish ,me and the wife have tried a lot off chip shops but this comes out on top,it changed hands about two year ago and we thought the standard of the food and service would fall but it has not ,we travel about 4 mile on Friday nights and the odd time at dinner time, cant sing the praises loud enough , if you go expect to queue which is not seen much today but is a sign of a good chippy.

Not the best fish and chips . Local restaurants now offer take away and better ingredients . Much healthier then their deep fried style these days .

Simply ' the Best ' Fish and Chips I have known in my 68 years. Very friendly service and they serve an Excellent cup of tea in their small back room Restaurant. There is also take away at the front.Thank you for a wonderful meal and service ... I am now a regular customer and travel 15 miles once a week to eat there.
