We booked this motel in the full knowledge that it would likely be noisy, being next to a main road. The bathroom masked a lot of the top notes of the traffic, but the lorries were well and truly heard. I think its important to mention that if you're a light sleeper, this is NOT the place to sleep. The beds are clean, mattresses a little lumpy and the pillows could do with a good clean/air as they were stale smelling when they warmed up under body temperature. The body wash/shampoo was watered down (one bottle was thick the other like water). Towels were good and clean and smelt nice. Bathroom immaculate, and shower has good pressure. Theres a good selection of beers and drinks from the on-site bar/restaurant area. The barman was friendly, but exhausted the poor sod. Breakfast was fresh, fast and tasty - the basic fare. Tea and coffee from vending machines but orange juice and milk for drinks were jugged and brought to the table with a smile.

Found this little gem purely by chance on Hotel.com. Previous reviews were excellent and the many pictures looked good, so we booked it. Easy to find, but the car park entrance/exit is on a side road not far from a very busy road so take care when turning in. Plenty of car parking spaces and the reception can't be missed. Very friendly, welcoming people and we got through the check-in process very quickly. The room we booked (of which, there were several choices) was the largest available. The rooms are in 2 blocks, a short distance from the Motel reception. Room was spotlessly clean, with a good amount of secondary furniture (chairs, desk, etc) and there was tea/coffee making materials already there. (Ironing board on request.) Beds were comfortable, linen was very clean, with daily housekeeping. Bathroom a good size, with lots of towels. Very clean too. Some small soaps for use. Shower was over a bath & the water pressure was good, but the shower head awful (we just unscrewed the head & used the water that way) Breakfast between 7.30am & 9.30am in the main part of the Motel. Spotlessly clean breakfast room, tables & chairs. Pre-packaged cereals (help yourself), superb coffee machine (help yourself), cooked to order breakfast from a small menu. Full English was superb. Toast to order. Orange juice supplied. Pros: Very clean, conveniently located, great parking, great people, superb breakfast, great rooms. Cons: Noisy main road (traffic rarely stops) can be heard & sometimes felt in the room. Walls between rooms are paper thin & any sound is transmitted through. Other than some very small niggles that can't be overcome, a superb place and highly recommended.

Just excellent! Usually my review would repeat how each stay leaves us relaxed, refreshed and not wanting to leave, - as on this visit, but just have to give extra praise to the outstanding preparation the team have worked on, to give me confidence to book during these scary times. Meeting family in York each day, but too intrepid to book accommodation with unknown standards, it made more sense to Park n Ride from near the Motel; Rooms, comfy, stylish and with high spec en-suite, the instant feeling of being thoroughly clean was apparent. Friendly owners and staff were so welcoming and obliging; Breakfasts were fresh and hearty; room tea trays, varied and full. Being able to park ( for free), just outside your room door in true Motel style, made bag packing easy as spare weather jackets and foot ware could be easily grabbed from the boot without bringing everything into the room. Staying here is easy and spacey, and currently so important, in safety. Great location for a stay base, and great value.... I Googled availability through agents sites, then chose my dates and rang direct and booked. (Why pay a middle man who banks huge profits overseas without paying proper U.K. tax? Paying cash to family run establishments like this Motel, also helps keeps costs down as credit card companies inflict huge extra charges....Another middle man getting in the way of our value for money.)

Stayed here for one night only during a very brief visit to York and the surrounding area. What a little gem of a hotel this is - just a pity it's not even closer to York city but if you don't want to stay in the city I would highly recommend this. The staff were excellent in every way - very helpful and knowledgeable and brilliant customer service. The choice of food and drinks was very impressive and reasonably priced - not what we expected from a motel type of establishment. The room, although described as chalet-style, were brilliant and bigger than most hotel rooms. The facilities on-site really were very good and we wish we could have stayed longer. If you are ever in the area make sure you visit and stay or at least eat there - you won't be disappointed. Free parking together with free wifi and a lovely breakfast in with the price too - very good value for money.

called here for an evening meal with wife and granddaughter. Had a good main dish and then desert. Child's dish had salted chips which we commented about to the waiter. We did not complain but just made the point that children's food did not ought to come ready salted. Very pleasantly surprised when we went to pay the bill to be told the childs desert was free because of the chips. We would definitely go there again. Service was good with pleasant young waiter and food quality was good.

Had some friends coming up from Norwich, and having passed this Restaurant/Motel umpteen times, decided to book Sunday lunch. On arrival, we were welcomed by two smartly dressed young men, who checked our reservation, and asked us to choose a table where we would like to sit. Being close to Xmas, I was amazed to see, that there was only one more table occupied. This sadly caused the atmosphere to be a bit flat. The overall presentation of the dining room was good, and looked very clean. Our drinks order was bought to the table and we ordered our meals. My wife and I had the Sunday Lunch, we requested a bit of turkey, and a bit of beef. Our friends had home made pie and chips. We also had 2 types of gravy, to add to our meals. Despite the restaurant being quiet, I have to say that All the meals were well cooked, piping hot, with good size portions. Three of us had a sweet, which was also hot and delicious. I would have liked a drought Stella, Peroni, or a more premium lager, instead of San Miguel, but that is me being a bit picky! I will definitely go back, and would reccomend the food to anyone. I just hope the restaurant gets busier. The motel also offers rooms to stay, so I would like to think the residents would eat in, making it busy. Because the establishment is on a corner, on a main road, it is difficult to assertain what the Yorway offers in terms of Food, and Bar facilities. Maybe, a Sunday lunch/ Bar Banner, Accomadation from £, Opening times etc, on the main road would encourage people to sample what's on offer.

Thought would give this place a try as had heard good things aboiut it but was sadly not what was expecting . Staff were friendly and helpful but the food and wait time was shocking . the place did not look that busy and thought service would have been quicker . Ordered a steak which was supposed to be cooked medium but came out looking cooked on the outside and then it started bleeding on its own on the plate and i instantly knew that was not medium and it was red raw on the inside when i checked - had to be sent back and was ok after . Overall felt it was too expensive for the wait time and the quality of the food so will be spending my money elsewhere in the future - Dont mind paying a bit more but its got to be worth it .

Stayed here for two nights recently as the B&B; we normally use in the area wasn't available over the Christmas period. Rooms were clean, but the noise from the very busy road assured an early start ! Our biggest disappointment was to arrive on what was forecast to be one of the coldest nights of the year to find that the heating was turned off in both the rooms we'd booked. We whacked the radiators up to max and went out for something to eat - one of the rooms had nicely warmed up by the time we returned, but the other never really got warm the entire time we were there. The bed in the other room was also very uncomfortable so it seemed we either had a comfy bed but cold room, or a terrible bed but warm room.

Stayed two nights whilst golfing in the area. The place is about 40 years old but appears to have had a fairly recent makeover. Standard motel layout with a covered walkway in front of the rooms. Waitress moaned about how tired she was when w arrived, came to take our order yawning - then walked away before taking Lloyd Jackson order, blaming it on being tired! My soup arrived and when the waitress put it down commented you it was home made - should think so in a restaurant charging £4.95, then when I tried to break my bread roll it was it was rock hard - been microwaved to a crisp and served with totally melted butter. I then had to go looking for the waitress to ask for my roll changing - telling her what was wrong, she then followed me back to our table and said 'What the matter Honey'! I replied 'Number 1 I am not your Honey and secondly as I have already said my bread roll is rock hard. Main arrived Katy Jacko had ordered the Pie of the Day Chicken & Sweetcorn to receive Steak & Ale that was not on the menu! Then when the brought the correct pie there was 2 pieces of chicken in it with undercooked pastry on the bottom. Lloyds beef-burger was as dry as cardboard with 2 mysterious breaded chicken strip under the beef-burger!. Just to cap it all I had roast beef served with a poor excuse for vegetable, apple sauce out of a jar, no cracking but the string still on the pork from when it was roasted. Only Sarah Jackson had a decent meal - must of been because it was a farmhouse platter and did not need any cooking. Surprisingly we will not be returning or recommending.

Stayed at the yorkway on 19-03-16 for one night whilst visiting family in Pocklington. We have stayed here a few years pervious and it was very basic but no issues at all, we saw on the website that the place had a big overhaul and the pictures looked awesome, we were excited to see the changes. On arrival we were very happy to be let into the room an hour before check in, initially everything was fine with the room, clean and smelt fresh. We did notice there was an ironing board propped up against the wall but no iron? We left our luggage and then went visiting family. Later that evening after having a delicious meal at the feathers hotel we returned to the room. After being worn out with travel and visiting we wanted nothing more than a shower and sleep. Unfortunately I went in the bathroom to run the shower and found an army of ants on the shower floor and walls, as I'm sure you can imagine that totally put me off and couldn't use it. It totally freaked me out for the rest of the night, I couldn't sleep for itching and wondering where else the little things were. Next morning for breakfast, my husband told the young girl on reception what had happened and she didn't look shocked at all just said 'oh sorry' no offer of a reduced rate for sharing the room with our little any friends. We then went for breakfast, which was not explained how it works, ie cereal in the foyer milk and juice there too, I read the menu and realised you could ask for croissants which is exactly what I did. However after the first bite I realised that it was still frozen in the middle, I don't mean cold i mean frozen solid! I again called a waiter over who took it away said sorry and said do you want to order your breakfast now. That being said the cooked breakfast was actually very nice. Overall it wasn't a great experience and I'm very disappointed that no one offered any explanation as to why the ants in the room had not been sorted. Or at the very least offer a reduced amount to the £75 we paid! I've stayed up and down the country and in high middle and low end hotels and I've got to say this one has been alongside the worst :-( Sorry yorkway, had we have had a better response from staff about our problems maybe this review would have been different. We stayed in room 5!

We went for a Christmas meal last night with friends. We had a good night but the food wasn't as nice as it could have been. There was plenty of it and it was piping hot. The soup was very nice but the turkey on the main didn't seem get quality. The desserts were overcooked but did come with an apology and taken off the bill. The main issue was it was so rushed. Christmas meal booked for 32 people this lunchtime - very disappointing... Instead of serving a table at a time - thus ensuring people sitting together ate together - meals were served to all tables together in order of menu choices (turkey, steak and ale pie, salmon en croute then the vegetarian option). On my table half the meals arrived at least 10 minutes after the others. Those who choose traditional Christmas fare got their gravy 10-15 mins after the food, which they had already started eating to avoid it going cold. I ordered salmon en croute which was served with roast potatoes, parsnips and inedible Yorkshire pudding - totally inappropriate accompaniment for the main dish. I recommend you avoid eating in this establishment - especially if for a special occasion. Dreadful.

Ate there today, four adults and one child. the decor, surroundings and lay out are very nice. Now I eat out a lot, in fact all over Europe as I travel, so am quite used to the protocol of a restaurant, something seemed a little odd when we were not made aware of the specials board, and before we were even asked if we wanted any drinks we were all given a menu, usually, as soon as you are seated the drinks are addressed.the menu is limited, and with some hindsight i can only assume that this is because the majority of the dishes served on a Sunday are the Sunday dinners. the starters were ordered and two of our party ordered the tomato soup from the specials board, one came and one did not, when this mix up as pointed out it was rectified, however the bread that accompanied the second soup seemed to have been frozen, and then defrosted as it was rock hard and warm?so the mains arrived, the burger was a disgrace, very dry meat, and to make it even drier they use a cheddar accompanied with almost raw onion rings, no salad and no dressing such as burger relish etc. interestingly, although the actual burger was dry, there was a small section right on the edge that was raw and I still cant think how the chef achieved this?one of the other dishes was the scampi, now the ingredients of this dish are already prepared, frozen and all that's left to do is deep fry. apparently this was not very nice and the scampi soggy.i saw the cook (cant justify the title chef) out side topping up their nicotine levels, and although you shouldn't judge appearances I got some explanation of the food quality.we pointed the shortfall in expectations out to the waitress, and they did offer a free desert but at this point we just wanted to leave.on a positive note, my wife had the roast beef and it was lovely, so if you do go, stick to the Sunday dinners.

First time visit ,lunchtime 21/09/2014 with husband, son and daughter in law and young granddaughter, the prawn starter was fine however the soup was far too rich with added cream, very off putting, the bread that came with one of the soup was like bricks, obviously too long in microwave, next came the Sunday roast which my daughter in law said was fine, hubby and son plumped for the burger, this was dry and looked unappetising, no salad and a portion of bog standard frozen chips. My scampi was ok but came served with small green bullets that passed as peas, the chips were tasteless and dry. When asked by our waitress, who was helpful and friendly, if our meal was ok, (two of the meals were left half eaten so she must have been expecting a negative comment),she did express our comments to the kitchen and we were offered a free sweet each, we declined this offer with thanks. The cost our our granddaughters children's meal was deducted from the final bill . We all agreed that this was a first and last visit to The Yorkway.

Lovely restaurant & very modern. Comfortable sitting. Food when eventually brought was nice & good selection of veg however - after being shown to our table by a young waiter & (don't get me wrong I'm not old ha) I asked what did they do for vegetarians as it was not even listed on the menu ! He said, well we can do broccoli & cheese. My reply was is that it ? He said 'or sum at like that' !! I said what do you mean ? He said again broccoli & cheese or sum at like that !!!! Ok so I had no choice & ordered the 'broccoli & cheese or sum at like that ' Another couple came in (we where the only other couple in there) & they placed their order. After a while, their order came & commenced eating. Quite surprised I asked where our order was & was told it's coming. Ok once arrived the 'broccoli & cheese or sum at like that' was actually a cheese & leek pie in a bowl & a selection of vegetables was supplied to share with my husbands meal. The meal in its self was nice, but I would of liked to of known what I was going to be given & certainly not told 'or sum at like that' !!! So come on management train your staff to speak correctly & tell them exactly what is on the menu & print the vegetarian option on the menu so customers can see for themselves what choice they have

Me and my wife married on the 24th of this month and held our wedding breakfast and reception at the yorkway. The food was amazing, the staff really friendly and helpful. They made our day extra special. Especially jules who was an amazing host, she was there from breakfast right through the day until the last of our guests had left. I personally don't think the day would of gone as well as it did without her input. All in all the york way is a hidden gem and I would recommend the place to everyone..

This is a very clean restaurant and very good food at reasonable prices.Nice place to go if you are on holiday with a dog. You can eat outside under the canopy.

Went a couple of years ago but I recall it being very nice and staff very friendly and kind the yorkway is a 5 star hygiene rating which is really good when there aren't many in pocklington with a 5!!

This evening my mum dad and myself and a cousin from abroad, decided to go for a meal, we decided to go to the yorkway as as it was close to whee we live. The food was the best I had ever had and the desert was exceptional. I would certainly recommend to any one reading tripadvisor reviews to go to this place.

Cold coffee, which was a real shame as the majority of breakfast was really quite nice. We will be here for breakfast again when we next stay. Staff were friendly.

Worst service ever, didn’t even get to taste the food. Take my advice and avoid this place altogether as their attitude is shocking.

Ordered a mini Monty sandwich, the girl that took my order was that slow at making it I was the only customer at the time. it was cold when I ate it straight out of the shop, bacon was like leather and the egg was like rubber £4.80 don’t think I’ll b back.
