This was about the most amazing dinner I’ve had in England. Fantastic pies, and a wonderful appetizer. Bangers and mash was delightful as well. No need for seasoning, everything comes perfect as is, and the portion sizes are fully enough. I’m entranced with this place and its dinners, plus the cider is to die for! I will definitely visit again.

Visited yesterday to discover to my horror that they've ripped the handpumps out and substituted the dreaded gas taps on the bar. So no real ale and Sam's premium ale, the Old Brewery Bitter, is now nothing more than an undrinkable fizzy abomination. What a way to treat a once wonderful pint. What a way to treat the loyal customer base. It's the Hat and Stick over the road for me from now on.

I know there was a lot of confusion over the covid rules in pubs but I was felt at unease when I sat down on a stool to drink my pint . The staff looked shifty ams nervous and I was brought a pint I did not order which annoyed me. Then I went to stand up to check my money the manager came over as quick as a flash and said I must sit down .. I left my pint and left the pub. Seems a lot of the Sam Smith staff and management were over zealous and seemed to have enjoyed there short lived bout of authoritarian power during the covid period

Went in for a few lunch time drinks after a shopping trip to the west end, if you like good beer Sam Smiths will have a beer that you will like, the staff are really friendly and very knowledgeable, I sampled a few....maybe a few to many, if thats possible, but wasnt driving so all good really. The pub is owned but Sam Smith Brewery and they have strict rules, but this makes it a really nice place to sit back enjoy a nice pint and have a conversation with a human being rather than a mobile phone.

Never again. This establishment has lost its pizzazz, its charm and its welcoming atmosphere. The New Covid19 rules have set the staff ablaze with Authoritarian attitude, which sets the atmosphere on edge and gives the feeling of being watched for every movement that we make. Trying to enjoy our time there was met with constant glances in our direction every time we shifted in our seats. Being told we must remain in our seats at all times regardless is a frenzied powertrip for the overbearing manager. Getting up out of our chairs caused hysteria until we stated we were actually on the way to the door to leave. Shamefaced embarrassment for them to assume we were loitering around the table aŕea after our drink. The staff panic at everything and it shows. It really does not bode well for their future livelihoods and future of the business. Loosen up a little, let your customers enjoy their time they have paid into supporting your business, they abide by the rules, but you need to let us breathe whilst there, just not down our necks.

I came to The Yorkshire Grey for a quiet drink on a September evening and overall I was impressed. Drinks were reasonably priced, the atmosphere was nice as well as the staff being friendly and making a great recommendation of a beer. This pub is part of the Sam Smith's chain and only serves their beers (which are all relatively good), which may put some people off. Overall The Yorkshire Grey is a great choice for a pint in London.

We had a nice couple of pints and a meal in the Yorkshire Grey yesterday. The staff are brilliant, they came and told us when the upstairs was open for food orders, and the barman in charge of the upstairs was absolutely excellent. He dealt with a busy space, dispensing food and drinks calmly and efficiently. Two blind lads in for a meal had excellent service, this member of staff talked them through the menu, described where everything was on their plates and even helped them when they needed to find the loo. All done with true professionalism, we were extremely impressed. Our food was good too!

Just been to this great little pub for a meal in the upstairs restaurant. We discovered The Yorkshire Grey whilst looking for somewhere to eat for our last night in London. It seemed a bit of an omen as I am an exiled Yorkshire lass so we went in to see if we could reserve a table. We were met by the lovely manager Dennis who said he would reserve a table for this evening. As vegetarians we were pleased to see we would be well catered for, and indeed my Greek salad and my husbands cheese and potato pie were excellent. The service was quick and efficient and the barman/ waiter upstairs was fabulous. Thank you both for an amazing meal and such friendly service. We will certainly be back next time we visit London and would have no hesitation in recommending The Yorkshire Grey to anyone looking for a great pub with fabulous food.

Me preguntó qué quería. Pedí mi orden original. Persona en el bar hizo un punto de decirnos que no dan órdenes equivocada (Persona bar siempre está a la derecha). So. Me dieron mi orden después de que todos los demás habían terminado de comer y nos cambiaron mi tarta, pero me dieron la placa misma de patatas y verduras de 30 minutos antes. Budín de carne y riñón estaba seco y vacío y no vale la pena la espera. We went to the Yorkshire Grey for lunch, the staff were welcoming and the pub itself had a comfortable feel to it, very unlike the average service and surrounding that you get from many large chain establishments now. Unbelievable! you could see that meat pattie was brunt i was so hungry i just took a bite without looking. Been a few times and if it's quiet then it's not a bad place for a quiet pint and people watch. However if there are more than a three customers the cracks begin to show. Expectionally slow service with little bar awareness. On the most recent visit ten of us showed up for lunch, there were large tables reserved, but we'd found spare tables anyway. We all lined up at the bar for food and drink however the staff barely moved to serve us. After we started to order food the manager informed us that he couldn't take food orders because he had reservations for lunch. We wondered what this meant? Can they only cater for 1/2 the seating area of the pub? If so why didn't he tell us earlier instead of allowing us to waste 15 minutes trying to get served. What a waste of time! Have eaten there before, portions are on the small size and the food is unexceptional for the price. Bless em they try and do gastro-grub but it's never a great experience. After a few months we thought we'd give it a second go. Our mistake. Given the range of great places in the area the Yorkshire is one to avoid. Details: No smoking area, don't know if outside drinking is allowed, uncomfortable chairs, bargain styling, cafeteria vibe, below average service.

The downstairs pub is a local of some character in this little known area somewhat off the normal tourist track. This encouraged me to book a table for lunch in the upstairs dining room for a small party of friends. The upstairs room is bright and welcoming but we were off to a bad start in finding that our booking had somehow been logged for the day earlier than our visit. However, this was quickly resolved as there were only two other tables occupied and we were soon shown to our table. The menu prices are cheap for central London and consists of classic pub favourites. Things did not improve when we were told that the only draft beer available was the premium bitter, in spite of the fact that the menu was offering at least three options. Two of us ordered chicken and ham pies, the others steak and kidney puddings but the latter were delivered to table as steak pies. The fillings of all pies were tasty but the pastry was challenging to eat to say the least. Pastry does not re-heat well in a microwave. The only bright spot was the nicely cooked side dishes of chips and fresh seasonal vegetables, curiously something on which so many other establishments fail. Finally, a full 30 minutes before the restaurant was to close at 3pm, to follow our meal we ordered coffee only to be told this was not possible as they had no milk or sugar! As none of us take milk or sugar we did manage to coax our coffees out of our waitress. One almost had the impression that our presence here was a bit of an inconvenience; maybe eating in the downstairs bar would have been a better experience. On the basis of our visit I feel that I am being generous in giving The Yorkshire Grey an Average rating, but reading others' comments maybe we just caught them on a bad day.

In a very typical tourist scenario, walking up & down the bustle of Oxford street; Shopping, shopping and in dire need of drink and a decent lunch – recognise the feeling? This was situation and I was looking for a typical British public house. We decided to leave Oxford Street and a try the side streets. Walking along Oxford Street, from New Oxford Street towards Oxford Circus tube station, we turned right just before Oxford Circus tube station, up Great Portland Street and found this pub on the corner in Langham Street. I can recommend having a typical British pub lunch in The Yorkshire Grey. On the first floor, upstairs, we discovered a genuine (positively speaking) old-look pub room. Their beef pie was a very good meal. The pub had a nice and quite setting, with a friendly staff. The beer is predominately Samuel Smith, a good Yorkshire pint. They also have the correct selection of the Tadcaster bottled Stouts and Porters to accompany the meals. On the basis of this one visit and lunch, I can highly recommend a visit.
