Food and staff are always happy and friendly, nothing us too much trouble...!!

Popped in for a pint and a plate of chips whilst on a evening bike ride. Pub was quite busy when we arrived, 20:30 on Tuesday during school holidays, it got less busy during the time we were there. The food is normal pub grub, well cooked and delivered by friendly staff.

Very friendly staff who were welcoming but the food is a let down here. Below average Sunday lunch which was flavourless. Nice atmosphere and family friendly. Food just needs to come up a few levels and this will be a local gem

Good old fashioned pub grub, dog friendly, relaxed atmosphere, very welcoming….

If your idea of fun is a dark, dingy pub with cobwebs and chamber pots hanging on the wall then look no further. The toilets are disgusting, which many people say your kitchen is only as clean as your toilets - so god forbid what their kitchen may look like. The portion was large, yes, but frozen potatoes, light green peas from the bain marie water soaking the life out of them and the roast beef slices were as thin as wallpaper. Don’t even bother booking, because they won’t bother with you. Booked a table for Sunday lunch and did we have a reserved sign on the table or any sign of life for our reservation for family lunch? Of course not - we had to wait nearly half an hour. Next time, as usual I’ll happily drive past this pub and hope to never go in there again. Barbaric.

Great Sunday brunch in the tranquil town of Hayling Island in Hampshire. Amazing pub vibe with great outdoor seating.

Went here on a few occasions on a recent trip to Hayling Island. Most occasions were for a couple of drinks on our way back after a day out. One evening we decided to have dinner and we were not disappointed. I'm not saying it was gourmet food but it was decent pub grub with great portion sizes and a friendly team of staff. I really enjoyed the Jacket potato and as you can see from the photo my request for extra butter was definitely listened to 🤣 I would recommend The Yew Tree Inn and would go back if I were in the area again.

i had a curry and the sauce was like water everything was microwaved the chips were saturated in oil. the meat from the roast dinner i wouldn’t even give to my dog. AVOID AT ALL COST!!!

First time visiting and we'll definitely be back! Food was delicious and huge portions, staff lovely and service was quick! We had Lasagne, Chicken Korma, Steak & kidney pudding and Ham and Chips (and added a fried egg) all amazing and couldnt fault Highly recommend for all xx

Popped in for glass of refreshment after a day out off the island. Very friendly welcome and quick service. Food looked good so we'll go back for a meal when we're not so weary.. plus a thank you from the owner as we left. Quality or what? Well done to all of you. Just as good weeks later. An Island gem.

Had the roast beef. Vegetables was cooked well, not all soggy. The potatoes looked crispy, was a bit disappointed as they were on the soft side. Kid's menu was good. The chicken nuggets went down well. Have parking on site. Can be a bit of a pain to get across the traffic.

Hell of a find. Excellent pub lots of parking with both great indoor and outdoor spaces. Plenty of things within garden for children to keep them entertained. Food was fantastic big menu to choose from as well as a specials board. Portions are excellent sizes as well as the service really friendly and welcoming. First time ever going to this pub and will not be the last!

Bad start from me... When I called, by telephonic services... The lady, cheerfully opened our dialogue with the scripted greetings of, "Good afternoon, You Tree how can I help you?" I then accused her of calling me a tree as an insult. English isn't my 1st language. I persisted in my petulant manner to not understand why I had made the obvious mistake and was I unwilling to listen to the polite lady. She then fetched her immediate superior for the shift pattern she had been allocated from her management team and this nice chap, gave me the similar greeting, "Hello, You Tree, how may I be of service to you today" Wow! Very Nice and pleasant. Butt... I'm a Tree!? So confused was I, I decided to come down and give the staff a right seeing too. I arrived and was shocked to learn the pub was The Yew Tree and not The Ship, I thought I was calling. Great staff and the food was eaten.

Would not recommend Sunday lunch, roast pork dry, wafer thin and not cut from a joint. Poor quality for price.

If you want a traditional British pub with home cooked food this is the place for you. No TV screens. Masses of memorabilia. Pleasant outside seating area. Be warned the good portions are huge!

Proper old style country pub with proper home cooked food. Lots of lovely fresh veg. Massive portions! Loads of parking. Lovely garden.

The food was good, the fish was unavailable I was a bit disappointed but the meat & leek tourt was all right. The service also was good. We ate outside, very pleasant to eat the feet in the grass. We ordered and payed a the counter (at the start). Easy to stop, park, eat and back on the road again.

Probably the worst roast dinner I have ever had, and for £20 per head with a drink.

They do a great food selection, really fast service and nice beer garden

Absolutely fantastic! Beautifully kept Beer HSB, Proper Job, Doom Bar. Amazing home cooked food. Massive and delicious portions for a very very reasonable price and lovely staff. 👍 and interesting old time decor. Love it 😻

Best fish and chips Staff very friendly

Very rustic pub, cozy like in the living room. Friendly and clean. Unfortunately the food was only mediocre. Lamb shank was tender, sauce was ok, but the vegetables were horrible because zero taste = cooked way too long. A pity. Maybe I was just unlucky at the end of the holiday. Price was around £18 plus drinks

Food was bland Shepherds pie was dry and lacking any meat Sunday dinner was the same size as a child's plate just more spaced out No Yorkshire puds or stuffing served with the roast pork !! Steak and kidney pud with chips and veg was overflowing on the plate to the side of ridiculous Would say it was overpriced for the quality of the food Probably won't go back 😔 Not enough parking available either so makes it more stressful Plus side there is a nice garden with an aviary to look at and play area for kids

Lovely old fashioned traditional pub with log fires and a general historic feel. It has a good selection of beers on draught and a large beer garden. The food was delicious, we had the lamb roast special which wasn't cheap but did come as a large plate full; my only small complaint being that gravy was poured over it in the kitchen before it was served to us while we would have preferred to have a gravy boat on the table not have it decided for us and soaked in gravy. Other than that minor glitch we really loved this pub and will be coming back soon. It's traditional decor and feel make it just our kind of place.

Really enjoyed our evening there with my Grand daughter . So much we went back the following evening. It will be our regular eating house from know on when we are staying on the boat

First visit, excellent family meal, if anything portions too big, we all struggled to finish our meals.

Cracking traditional pub, lovely beer garden. Great menu selection . My husband had the steak and kidney pudding and he said it was the best he had. HUGE PORTION sizes.

Great service, lovely atmosphere. Food was good, make sure you're hungry, large portions! There were 9 of us and we all got our food served together. Relaxed service, didn't rush us all all. Had a lovely time.

We ordered a prawn cocktail/roast chicken/fish and chips. It was great meal and were huge portions! We enjoyed the food and the interior was beautiful!

A lovely lunch out with lifelong friends. A very extensive menu, I had the gammon, it was a decent sized portion with two thick gammon steaks topped with pineapple. The pub itself is a traditional country pub with loads of bits and pieces decorating the walls. Great lunch although the building itself was a little on the cold side, it did explain why the bar area with the open fire was very busy.

The food was excellent 👌 and the service was very good I would recommend 👌 to everyone 😀 👍

Went to the Yew Tree just before Christmas. We weren't having the Christmas meal, just off the menu, which we found to be brief on description, they haven't listed the extras. Like. Carrots, peas, cabbage gravy. So was surprised when my chicken and chips arrived with all mentioned on the plate. The food was good pub food, and plenty on the plate. Atmosphere was great, as close to Christmas was busy, but we didn't wait long for the food to arrive. Parking may be an issue, although they have a large carpark, it does get busy. Which tells you, it's a good place to go.

Decent food friendly staff good atmosphere but could do with a good clean

Well... the pub is somewhat different it has its qwerkiness about it, if you look up you can see so many old farming tools. The food was edible but wasn't the greatest-tasted microwaved (instant mash for a start) And for the drinks ie. Coca cola tasted like it was watered down. Service was okay.... Will give this place another try in the future.

Stopped off for a drink after a day out. Bar staff polite and helpful, bar area clean and tidy. Garden well kept with plenty of outdoor seating.

Great value, good food and service

The Yew Tree is a family favourite for us and we visit often throughout the year and have never had a bad experience. The bar itself is very small and the selection available is not huge but what is on offer is decent. Service is always good and the staff are very friendly. Food is always good and fairly priced and despite usually being part of a big group our food always comes out together with no issues. There is a large garden area which includes an aviary and a kids play area. There is a decent sized free car park.

After many years of visiting the island (we used to have a caravan there) this was our 1st visit to The Yew Tree......and it won't be the last. Fantastic tasty food with very generous portions and extremely good value. Staff were fantastic and even though they were very busy we were served pretty quickly. Can't wait to go back.

Haven't visited here for many years due to work life always remembered it had good well cooked food they certainly have kept the standard they set their selves helpful staff quick service although very busy. Will be visiting again when on the island again

Lovely pub, great garden, the ladies were lovely excellent customer service but the food let them down. There were five if us and not one of us managed to eat our whole meal. Would definitely go again for drinks but not for dinner

Disappointing. Awful food, roast drowned in cheap thick gravy, burnt (yet still soggy!?) roast potatoes. Underwhelming. 1st dinner my partner has ever not eaten.

Oh my goodness this place needs 10 stars. Service was brilliant and friendly. Food came quickly. It was hot, home made big portions and very tasty. Fresh veg and plenty of it. I’m going back for more Liver and Onions and apple pie and custard. Massive menu. We all loved our dinners. Lovely seating area outside and dog friendly. Very good prices. Thank you

Very quaint and a bit quirky. Good size portions and decent food.

1st choice when visiting the island to eat here as the food is great and massive portions but Silly having to queue to order food then move to order drinks at same bar but to the manager who serves the locals/regulars first! We left after our meal without ordering our deserts as would have too wait on him again serving us last.
