Was in Liverpool for an appointment and called in for a quick drink on the way back to Moorfields train station. It was a few years since I last visited and had forgotten how good it was. We were both hungry and looking for something to eat, but were told they didn't do food but we could order in from the Spanish tapas/sandwich shop next door, which turned out to be excellent. This is a proper pub with a super friendly staff, with Steve the manager and Lisa his daughter, wood and brass in abundance and a good selection of well kept cask ales and perfect Guinness. The place is spotless with table tops that look and feel like they have been scoured and bleached, much better than the sticky sprayed and wiped found in most pubs these days. We had intended to only have one drink, but the atmosphere was so relaxed and friendly that we just had to have another, and were tempted to stay longer but had a train to catch. If you never been to this pub before you are missing out.

One of my favourites pubs in Liverpool is Ye Hole In Ye Wall Pub, its also one of the oldest pubs in Liverpool dating from 1726,its a pub I always enjoy visiting on any trip to Liverpool City Centre I take. The pub itself is superb, a solid wood serving bar dominates the main room, a beautiful fire place, great wall art, eclectic decor and furnishings, stained glass windows, snug rooms and plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub both inside and outside looking out onto the busy and bustling Hackins Hey, one of the oldest streets in Liverpool. We were here on a Monday night pub was busy with a great atmosphere, a quick study of their real ale's which is very impressive, in the end we both opted to have pale ale's from Weetwood Brewery, these were served in excellent condition, we chilled out and soaked up the great vibe in this busy and popular pub while we sipped our pale ale's. My pale ale was really good, a crisp, well balanced pale ale, hints of toffee, a delicious aroma and aftertaste with a smooth finish, very easy to drink, its hardly surprising that this pub is so popular with real ale's of this quality. We really enjoyed our pale ale's in here before we moved on and although our visit was only fleeting as on every other visit to Ye Hole In Ye Wall Pub we had a great time. Ye Hole In Ye Wall Pub is easy to locate along Hackins Hey. Opening hours are; Monday to Sunday, open from midday. Well worth checking out if you're in the area .

This is the oldest pub in the city. The date on the wall says it's been in business since 1726. So in two years time it will actually be 300 years old. I've heard that this pub is unusual in another way in that the beer cellar is on the first floor. The reason apparently is that it used to be a Quaker cemetery and the pub was built over it. It's a very warm and welcoming place and judging from the atmosphere the locals love this place.

Came up for a visit to Liverpool, first time ever visiting this wonderful city and happened to pass by this little pub while looking for the statue of Billy Fury. We had noticed how friendly everyone in Liverpool and thought we would pop our heads in ‘the oldest pub in Liverpool’ and what a gem it is! It was early afternoon but we were greeted to a warm welcome by the man I can only assume is the owner or manager ‘what can i get you’? and the banter started straight off. This fella is really funny and warm and we were made to feel very welcomed. My boyfriend was the giggle and titter which he got to taste and was then topped back up, you don’t get that down south! Would 💯 pop back in if I’m back In Liverpool. We didn’t eat so can’t rate food but I’m sure if we had eaten it would have been lovely. The toilets are very clean and smelled lovely and the bar was full of interesting things and a fee locals who were all friendly. Wonderful little place.

Tucked away on a side street, it's a pleasant place to escape the hustle bustle of the city. Friendly staff pouring great pints, with plenty of locals to talk to. I had the luck of meeting the owner the first day in town, and he gave me a great welcome. Port and Stilton on the house, and a great laugh with the regulars. I've never felt so welcome in a pub. Ye Hole In Ye Wall on Hackins Hey is one of the best pubs in the city centre that offer's a superb range of cask ale's and without a doubt the oldest pub in the city centre and is a pub me and my twin brother have been to hundreds of times over the years. Located in Hackins Hey which is one of the original seven street's of Liverpool'this pub is housed in a superb old building that was built over a Quaker burial site'Ye Hole In Ye Wall pub is reputably haunted by a couple of ghost's and given the age of this brilliant pub and it's history it makes sense. The interior of Ye Hole In Ye Wall is brilliant with an excellent multi-roomed interior with many interesting fixtures and features and superb seating options. There are plenty of interesting fixtures to this pub like it's wood panelled wall's and stained glass window's and partitions and is a joy to visit. This was our 1st visit to this superb pub this year and as usual it was very lively which is how we like pubs as the atmosphere is a lot better. On our visit we had a few glasse's of cask ales which where as alway's excellent and were well priced. This is a fantastic pub in a brilliant area and well worth a visit and easy to get to from Moorfields train station its a short walk.(This is my fifth review of the Ye Hole In Ye Wall). My pale ale was really good, well balanced, hoppy but not overhopped, delicious aroma and aftertaste, a classic British pale ale served in a classic British back street boozer, it was just so good being in such a lovely pub enjoying a quality brew and sat with my twin brother, best beer companion in the world. On a spontaneous sightseeing visit to Liverpool, we decided to check out Liverpools oldest pub and discovered Ye Hole in Ye Wall. It's tucked away down a little street, however it's definitely worth finding and dropping in. With a great range of beers, some real local characters and a landlord and team that makes you feel so very welcome, we were so happy to have rested our feet, have a great beer and meet some truly lovely people. Stephen, the landlord, came over to chat with us and shared some of the history of this place and his ownership of what he'd done to keep the heritage of such a place (it was founded in 1726 - WOW!!). Stephen also introduced us to Black Velvet - Guiness and Port - and we weren't disappointed. We'll definitely be back and look forward to dropping in next time when there's some live music on. We didn't eat on this occasion - but the food looked wholesome and tasty! Thanks for the kind welcome Stephen and see you next time Fella!!

I’ve never felt more welcome in a pub ever. Walked in, got a lovely warm welcome from the owner Stephan who asked our names and shook our hands. Safe to say you don’t get a greet like that in any pub anymore. Straight away we felt at home. We had a few cracking pints of San Miguel whilst sitting in the corner watching the horse racing. The decor is just what you can imagine from Liverpools oldest pub. All in all we loved it and we will definitely be back! I would advise everyone to go! Get in and have a beer, you don’t regret it! We ordered a scouse, and it only had potatoes and carrots, no meat and the portion was small.

1st time visiting since changed owners. The surroundings and atmosphere are unchanged but the food … oh dear . We had the 2 starters/small plates plus drink for £14. We had 2 of these so we could share . Soggy calamari , tough chorizo and burnt black pudding. In a very oily sauce. Mushroom pate and belly pork were ok. The main courses were very basic and more like posh pub grub ! The noticeable difference is that there are no salad or sandwich options which I really enjoyed previously. Very few options if vegetarian . The desert options were like something you might order in a pub The small plate options were underwhelming and not a patch on previous options . Not sure if we will visit again and that’s a shame .

Seemed fairly busy/popular. Attended for a small family birthday event. Standard pub-grub fayre but was all nice and staff were very attentive.
