My father passed away yesterday, so I rang the Woolpack to arrange for a funeral tea for fifty people. The initial call with a young lady was pleasant enough, but she wasn’t sure about being able to pay and have the menu upgraded (currently £9.95 per head) She asked us to wait whilst she spoke to the chef - ‘Richard’ - to see if this was possible. We overheard their conversation. The lady told him what we wanted - a funeral tea - and that we’d like to know if we could upgrade. He said to her “You get what you get. That’s it”. She asked if he would talk to us and he said no, but after she pleaded with him, he came to the phone. He was awful. We won’t be having our wake there, nor will EVER use this pub - our local - again.

This was a wake buffet for 50 people. A selection of sandwiches, sausage rolls, crisps and cakes were provided. Excellent quality and choice. I would recommend this pub as a good venue for a family function. Nothing was any trouble and this included unlimited tea and coffee. The bar was also open. Excellent service and great parking facilities. Very tempted to try a Sunday roast soon.

When we entered The Woolpack we were warmly greeted by Michaela who then served us our drinks and showed us to our table. There were 4 of us dining at lunchtime today and at least two of us are fussy (yes that would include the author of this review, namely me) however, Sophie, our server, was an absolute star she was extremely helpful and attentive throughout our visit and nothing was too much trouble for her. Our food arrived and was piping hot, delicious and plentiful. So a big thank you to The Woolpack for a lovely and entertaining afternoon.

Monthly visitors with a local group, The Woolpack suits us very well with a varied menu which includes lightbites, smaller portions, otherwise portions are generous, always well prepared and served very efficiently. Excellent range of desserts. Thoroughly recommended .

FANTASTIC ❤️ proper pub & restaurant with proper staff xx Found this pub by mistake and because the ladies running the bar and carvery we decided to stay. What a great decision, we had a delicious carvery, so no washing up or cooking for us later 🥰 Plenty of seating with a bar area plus a restaurant, has a car park too Xx

Contrary to some other reviews, we found that the landlady of this pub was very pleasant. There were a few draft cask beers as well as the usual range of drinks. The menu was interesting and the food good.

6 of us went for Sunday lunch - it is a carvery between 12 noon and 5p.m. - good choice of meat and veg - with drinks and excellent puddings the bill for 6 of us was less than £100.00. After your 1st visit they give you various offer for your next carvery and 2 courses for a Friday and Saturday between 6/8p.m. - £10.95. Somewhat tucked away but well worth the visit.

Four of us had dinner here. Food generally what you would expect in pub, with one exception; the steak and ale pie. Never tasted one like it before. Tender meat in a rich gravy with a delightfully light square hat of filo pastry. Gastronomic delight. Amazing dish hiding among pub-grub. One had a tough and tasteless sirloin which Sally, our excellent and attentive waitress, quickly apologized for explaining that this was exceptional and swiftly took £5 off the bill. Do go - and have pie starter, main and pudding!

Can't understand some of these reviews. We go there regularly and have never had cause for complaint. My Daughter, an ex chef, said apart from the yorkshires everything was lovely. Yes the Yorkshires are probably frozen ones, but all the veg and meat is locally obtained fresh. We have always found the staff to be friendly and polite, and every person we have taken there are impressed at the price and the quality. I suppose some folk can't be pleased, but I have eaten in some top notch restaurants, but few of them are as good as The Woolpack. I shall continue to go there as often as I can. In fact I think I will take my visitors there tonight.

We called on a Saturday evening and got a table without a reservation. The menu included all the usual pub food standard items, and a little more. The food appeared with very little delay. The portions were more than generous. The quality was good and it was well cooked and presented. We managed puddings and they were good too. The cost was reasonable. The staff were very attentive and the service was excellent.

Out for the day and could not find any Pub serving food at 19:30 on a Sunday evening, until we found 'The Woolpack'. Normal Sunday type lunch/Dinner was not available, but we could order from the main. The choice - although not extensive, was more than satisfactory. A 'Specials Board' and a three course meal for £14.95 was also available. We chose an 8oz Gammon (with egg and/or pineapple) and a 10oz Pork Steak (with stilton cheese sauce), both served with Chips, onion rings, grilled tomatoes and peas. Both dishes arrived within 20 minutes, pipping hot and filling the whole large plate - a very nice portion size. Finishing the dishes was accomplished with effott, but left no room for desert. The meal and drinks were served by a most helpful and pleasant young lady, which added to the overall pleasant experience. Good valve, Good Food and Good service, equals a return visit soon.

Meat was quite dry and didn't seem to get a lot of it compared to other carvey in the area. The carvey was quite expensive as it was served on small plates for carvey. Wasn't impressed at how they charged for children under 4 year this includes baby's £5.75 for a carvey personal think this is a ridiculous. Also drinks and desserts are on the expensive side.

My boyfriend and I recently visited the Woolpack this last weekend, having been given a Two for £13.95 Three Course Voucher. It was most definitely one of the best meals we’ve had in a long time. Pub grub served well and in a relaxed environment. We were greeted by a lovely smiley lady behind the bar. We arrived slightly early, but this was not a problem, and was told to go through to the restaurant, where we would be seated, at a lovely table to the side of the restaurant. It wasn't too busy, but a nice atmosphere, you could still hear what each other was saying!! I hate when you go somewhere and end up shouting, or hearing the table next-to-you's stories. Very comfy seating with a relaxing atmosphere. I often get nervous being in a restaurant, but felt so welcomed and comfortable here. We both had Chicken Wings of Fire to start, and both commented that we'd happily have that for main as well. Lovely, served on fresh salad with a delicious dressing. I had chicken for main, and this was beautiful, and boyfriend had the gammon. We were both surprised by the large portions, definitely no scrimping. The staff were all very friendly and attentative. To finish I had an outstanding ‘Lavish Lemon’ dessert, served with own pot of pouring cream. I have to say superb service and excellent food. Will most definitely be going back again!!!!

We visited the Woolpack this weekend having not been there for several years. I believe that the new tenants have only been there for 18 months and are attempting to build up the business having taken over a failing pub/restaurant. They are trying very hard and we found absolutely nothing to complain about. The lady who took our order couldn't have been more helpful, and although the restaurant could do with a "facelift", it was spotlessly clean and comfortable. The food was plentiful, well cooked and presented and very good value for money. It is not gourmet food, but good wholesome "pub grub" which is exactly what we expected. If you want fancy "gastro" style food in miniscule portions don't go to the Woolpack, but if you want good quality home cooked food, and plenty of it, pay them a visit - you won't be disappointed!

WE were enticed by the " 2 for £10" offer. So not expecting much for this price, but looking forward to a bargain, off we went.Lovely autumn day, so able to sit outside for a drink in the lovely garden. The bar where you enter is very nice and modern, sadly they havent renovated the restaurant yet.. hence the title of my review!!! It was also very warm, as it faces south. The carvery was ok.. not very flavoursome though. The service was efficient and friendly.Whilst we were there 2 men dressed in the full "chef garb" came out to the food serving area, talking to some customers. I was amazed that it took 2 chefs to provide the standard of food that was being served!!! It was ok,, but, ready made yorkshires and deep fried roasties, grey cabbage and boiled to death veg? When we asked if any of the desserts were home-made, we were told that the chefs don't like making them!!!!! so they buy them in!!!But they do make the lasagne, Well done, what a fabulous job to get, Ithe "so called chefs" get to call the shots and make their life easy by telling the poor owners, who have obviously invested a lot of time and money into their business, that we don't really want to cook anything too challenging, or are they really chefs? This could be lovely, there are many "destination pubs" where people will travel to, as the food is fantastic. This will never happen here until they get someone in the kitchen who can cook real food

I did not like the attitude of one woman there, as a company we used to have lunch meetings and take away sandwiches all the time without any issues, used to be worth the money and very very good! I'm glad its up for sale again hopefully have a decent landlord/landlady again. A smile wouldn't be such a bad thing love!

We visit The Woolpack on a regular basis and only have good things to say about the food. It isnt al-a-carte but the good prices reflect this. The portions are generous and quickly served. I had the steak and ale pie and my wife the lasagna. Both were served with lots of salad and we both had chips. These were not home made but were plentiful and more than acceptable. The staff were friendly and we will continue to visit.

I cannot understand the 2 poor reviews! My husband and I eat here regularly and have no complaints at all!The fact there are no bar stalls is great - no pushing to get to the bar and no feeling of intimidation for us ladies. Let's face it, there is nothing worse than approaching a bar full of locals looking at you like you shouldn't be in 'their' pub.To say the food is of aircraft standard is ludicrous - I'd like to know which airline you travel with as I'd certainly book with them!!!!The meals are of excellent standard - home made and incredibly generous portions! The Sunday Carvery is delicious, it is always packed on a Sunday and the food is great - fresh, local meat, definitely NOT packet vegetables and lovely home made gravy. Delicious!I would recommed this pub also for large parties, incredibly well catered for and service is amazing - you would be hard pressed to find an establishment that can cater so well for large groups! We will be back, and constantly!

Family visited for Fathers day. Although had phoned a week before told the earliest for a table was 3 o'clock due to the popularity which sounded good. The staff were friendly enough but sadly this is where it ended. The food was to put it mildly a dried up mess. Choice of veg limited & obviously packet & frozen with only very overcooked roast spuds (no mash or boiled) offered. The meat offering no better. Pressed Pork, Beef or Turkey. The Pork joint was so dry the chef could only put a crumbled heap on your plate. Thank heavens for the gravy as the meal needed liberal amounts to assist swallowing. We sat there in embarrassed silence, even more annoying we had to pay the full price as we didn't know about the 2 for £10 ( ref Herbie003) report. No we didn't ask to see the dessert menu we just wanted to get out with a promise to never go there again no matter what the offers are.

Our first (and only) visit was quite a let down. Maybe we should have been warned by the fact that there were only 5 customers on the premises at 1p.m on a Saturday. We sat outside in a fairly nice garden area. Ordered food and it arrived quite quickly, surprise. From then on it was not good. My meal was more like a pre-prepared airline special & my partners was woefully over priced and under par. Not an establishment we would consider returning to.

Booked Sunday lunch using 2 for £10 deal from the paper, first time I had visited the pub for many years Ordered drinks from the bar, which had no stools and bottles of wine looking like a show piece behind the bar so it appeared they were moving away from a village pub to a restaurant, which is maybe understandable. Went through to the restaurant to be seated and were handed vouchers for the carvery, served by a very helpful chef, sadly what they were serving was very poor. The roast potatoes were deep fried, yorkshires flat aunt bessies, carrots straight from the packet, peas and a greasy reservoir which could of been cauliflower cheese. Absolutely no effort in the cooking of any of it, and certainly no love, just the desire to serve cheap frozen foodservice produce. Decided to go for dessert at £5.50 perhaps they decided to put some effort into them although reading the choices it all looked very unlikely, and correct the carrot cake was portioned, dry and fridge tasting.Overall not worth £10 for two carveries as got stung on drinks and desserts, and will not be returning to pay full price, if these places are going to tempt people in with offers the very least they can do is to allow the chef time and ingredients to ensure returning customers.

Two adults and two dogs enjoyed our weekend at the GTI. From arrival, the personalised touches really made for a memorable experience- homemade cakes, gin and tonic in the suite, relaxed but efficient service and delightfully presented accommodation. The pub and restaurant is wonderful, the food is exceptional. The service was wonderfully attentive and relaxed, the prices were good value. We ate in the restaurant and the pub, both menus were superb. We visited beaches, ran around the Downs, shopped in Burnham Market and Thornham Farm shops.

Probably my worst WS meal ever. 3 sausages almost burnt, they were tasteless and well overcooked which I said to the server who grinned at me. The chips as usual most were hard and inedible, peas hard. Served in a bowl with gravy all over the chips. WS has had a problem with hard chips for months, I have complained to staff and emailed head office to no avail. Thats it I AM NOT eating at a WS any more.

Made to feel like a leper when we walked in by I assume locals just staring. My 13 year old daughter left the door open, to which one of them got up and slammed the door. Was told they'd put 2 small round tables together in the middle of the room for three of us. Felt so uncomfortable we left. Was just like the scene in American werewolf in London, amazed someone wasn't playing darts. Avoid, go to one of the chips shops instead!

Excellent lunch as part of Norfolk Restaurant week. Had 3 courses, delicious chicken breast with parsnip purée, fondant potato, cavolo Nero and mushroom sauce. My husband had bream with a Chinese twist. We both had the steamed Guinness sponge pudding with whiskey caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream. Staff are lovely and very attentive despite a busy restaurant. Have been meaning to visit for ages and it was worth the trip! We will be back.
