Great pub, staff all extremely professional. The pub is clean and welcoming. A new menu has just been launched and I am happy to say the Woolpack classics are still there and as tasty as ever, plus new dishes I look forward to trying in the coming weeks. Excellent wines (the house white is very good) and alcohol free beer selection.

Nice eclectic little pub. Nice beers, great service. Lots of little rooms and nice beer garden to rearrange, as well as one by the roads at the front. Food looked nice but didn't try.

Nicks looking burrata starter but probably on of the saddest and most disappointing burger and chips today from the new chef. £16 for a burger and a very small portion of what looked like frozen skinny fries felt like a rip off.

Very pricey for the lovely pint...better in the summer months

Our thanks for giving my partner and I just the winding down session we needed after a dreadful experience shopping in the town centre. Good beer, equally good food, with vegan options, fantastic staff, great atmosphere. You are just missing a bottle of single malt 12yr old Glenfiddich ( There is one I the corner shop nearby.... hint, hint) The provision of a doggie bag was much appreciated too. Lovely old pub in the town centre. Good outdoor seating areas. We sat in the new back garden area (sheltered from the hot midday sun) which was very welcoming. Food was great and staff friendly and helpful

Popped in for a quick drink yesterday no Guinness zero no lager zero just a milky stout and a couple of ale zer o. Very quite for such a beautiful day. Very disappointing, so had to find another pub.

Great service the food was delicious I had the vegan burger my friend had the fish all come up together. The drinks were ice cold great for the hot weather. Thanks to the staff.

Our local and we’ve had great experiences most of the time. However the food can be very variable, served on rusty camping plates which is just odd. The chips are either amazing or clearly reheated/“twice cooked” and then hard, burnt and tasteless. Really bad experience on Friday for what was supposed to be a celebration meal for us. The lettuce wasn’t washed and had earth on it, but had been included in the 3 burgers, and the chips were terrible. Staff are lovely, incredibly friendly and helpful- and we had a refund straight away. However three of us have had a tummy upset over the weekend.

21st June Friday @ 5.30pm Four of us ate on a Friday evening and sat outside amongst happy customers and a pleasant atmosphere. Ordering drinks took a while as understaffed. No Pizza options as chef was on holiday so menu was limited. Food also took a while to arrive, fish and chips with warm and tough chips, bolognase was small portion, steak and ale pie was lovely apart from undercooked leeks and burger and chips again hard chips, stale roll and poor excuse for a salad. Overall very dissapointed, expected more from the Woolpack. Staff were very friendly but unfortunately understaffed so everything took a while. Will not be eating there again.

Sit in a nice quiet pub in a local area next to the park. The staff are the nicest people in Ipswich and the food was incredible, everything was fresh and full of flavour with so much attention to detail. The cider sausage casserole was the star of the table but I've been told by my dad that the burger was "the best he's had in a long time". I write this while the staff are kindly and considerately taking care of dietary requirements of their patrons for tonight's quiz. I'll be making this my future haunt along with Chirin, my pup, who appreciated a pork scratching from the bar.

Very dog friendly and welcoming pub. We had a lovely lunch. Fish and chips, burger and chips and a kids sausage and chips. Chips were excellent as was the rest of the food. We would definitely come back if we visited the area again

Good food, friendly staff and lots of choices of rooms to dine or drink. Slightly small lattes, but good quality. Important bit, Dog friendly. Also, best breakfast ever.

Pub heaven! The Woolpack has everything that you would wish for in a cosy traditional village pub. We came to Slad as we were on holiday in the area and on a bit of a Laurie Lee pilgrimage so just popped in for a quick coffee. The welcome was warm, there was a lovely fire in the wood burner, the coffee was excellent and looking at other diners food we wished we had been here for lunch or dinner it all looked and smelt delicious. The views over the golden valley from the window behind the bar was sublime. It will definitely be somewhere that I’d like to return. Please don’t change anything in the meantime!

One of 4 pubs in Ipswich that I feel are best described as being "middle class locals" (along with the Greyhound, Fat Cat and The Dove). A constantly good, but modest selection of beers, good staff, food, atmosphere and punters. Cosy and in a great location next to the park and just outside the town centre. They aren't going to show the football (The Dove might) or have guest DJ's, but for anything else, from a place to take the kids for a lemonade after playing in the park, somewhere to grab a quick bite, or a meeting place for a quick pint before heading to the match, you're not going to feel short changed.

Deceiving from the Outside ! But, Inside you have this wonderful Olde World Charm with rustic tables and chairs, photos of time gone by adorn the walls and a beautiful fireplace, perfect for those winter Meals... We were blown away by the culinary skills with our superb roast dinners... Well worth a visit.... we shall certainly be making the trip again 🌟 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Never disappointed when visiting The Woolpack! There's always a great atmosphere at this pub, and the service is always friendly. Outdoor seating is available at the front and back of the pub if the weather permits! As well as good beer, there's also food available which I'd highly recommend.

I enjoy going to the Woolpack because of the atmosphere, the surroundings and the staff. The food is usually very good, though I don't find the menu very inspiring. They are always willing to adjust a dish if there's an element you wish to change. It's worth a visit.

Amazing atmosphere! We went there to try a Italian pizza, and i MUST say that its definitely the best Italian Pizza in Ipswich! And i know what i saying as I am a pizza lover who knows and tried pizza in many places! This Pub is coming on my list now! Atmosphere inside is amazing such a nice cozy pub with dogs welcome! Really Highly Recommend!

It was a cold, rainy February night when we arrived with our lively puppy but we found a cosy log burner, hot coffee, newspapers to read and later, delicious gnocchi and pies to eat for supper!! The staff were very welcoming and are definately dog friendly! We look forward to returning soon!

Lovely food and friendly staff, just had the roast dinner, was incredible. I would highly recommend eating and drinking here.

After email contact it turned out that we could not reserve a table during the weekend. But this would be fine because they are good at pushing tables. We arrived and everything was occupied. We ended up drinking a beer awkwardly between the dining guests and after about 30 minutes we still had a seat. Many small booths/rooms, so no real pub atmosphere as we sat in our own room (9 people). Food fine for the price. Not huge portions. Wide choice of beer types. Also at least some old fashioned ales while most pubs now fill everything with IPA.

I cannot express in a short review how good the team at The Woolpack are. We recently hosted a company meal for 25 people and simply could not fault the welcome, the service or the food (and drink). From start to finish Rachel and her team expertly organised the event and served us delicious and plentiful food. Special praise to the kitchen team. We cannot wait to return.

Group of 10 friends meeting for pre Christmas meal. Service really lovely, polite and attentive without being obtrusive. All courses well presented, plentiful and well cooked. Great atmosphere, really enjoyed our evening.

We had our departmental Christmas dinner last week. There were 12 of us. We all had a great time. The staff were incredibly efficient and attentive and the food was delicious and excellent value for money. We will definitely return.

What a delicious lunch! My husband had Moroccan curry, which he couldn't fault, I had aubergine and black bean burger. It was all absolutely delicious and faultless. We would highly recommend a visit! There is a really great range of ales too, all well kept. My husband had a Nethergate umber ale, I had Sharp's Atlantic. Both were lovely. The flat white with oat milk that I had afterwards was perfection in a cup! Perfectly executed, delicious coffee. Many thanks to all the lovely, helpful, friendly staff.

One of the best ploughman’s lunches I’ve had. Lovely pub friendly staff and a car park bonus for a town pub. We come here regularly and are never disappointed. Always excellent menu choices and the other half loves the choice of beer which is always well kept.

First day of our week off from wotk, I insisted on heading to the woolpack for lunch, husband had a breakfast early, so we agreed to grab a cab so he could enjoy a beer while i ordered food. I ordered smoked mackerel pate for a starter and a burger for main.. 25 mins later both meals arrived! I sent back the main course and the waitress confirmed that she had ordered the meals with a starter main divide. I had to add olives and olive oil to the starter as the crostini bread was crumbling on the floor with every bite.. more like stale croutons..quite disgusting. Then 35 minutes later the same dry burger reappeared for my main..which i rejected. High end prices for poor service and half arsed cooking, without the location, your standards wouldn't fly in any catering facility. Im hungry and getting another taxi to a decent venue. You are unbelievably poor but the middle class love you, possibly think your quirky?? I dont know.. but you cant deliver the basics, warm wine at £10 a glass and heat fermented condiments, with price marked ketchup including price marked spirits.. surely the posh are not this stupid?? Or........

Came sunday afternoon for a drink, we sat out the front. We ordered the beef nachos. Really tasty but expensive for the size and limited meat. Nice atmosphere.

Good pub, ideal if you take the correct exit out of Christchurch Park. Nice outside space despite having traffic run either side of it, doesn't seem to spoil it at all.

What a great pub. Made to feel very welcome by friendly staff - as was our dog! The Chef is very inventive with the dishes and all at a reasonable price. We came with our grandchildren who love the variety of board games on offer. Will definitely visit again and maybe give the Pizza Garden a try.

Fabulous "watering hole". Wide range of cask beers that are well kept. Staff are knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. I have eaten there a few times and the food is First class and service is prompt. Best proper pub in town.

We first visited The Woolpack in Oct 2021 to sample Antonio’s Neapolitan pizzas. They are the most delicious pizzas we’ve ever tasted. We’ve been every couple of weeks since! We have breakfast quite often too and lunch, and never been disappointed. The puddings are fabulous and we tried the cannoli this evening, wow, it was delicious! The team at The Woolpack are warm, friendly and welcoming and as soon as we walk through the door. The service is great and they can’t do enough for you. After a busy day, we can unwind the minute we walk through the door. Having read some of the not so favourable reviews, I can only assume these people went to a different pub! We absolutely love The Woolpack. Thank you guys for always making our visits enjoyable 😊

Normally my favourite pub but do feel it’s lost it’s way a bit recently, staff are slightly clueless and I ordered a veggie burger and it was so hard especially round the edges and obviously defrosted.. they had no sauce in it the burger bun as well the burger were bone dry!? It was served with wedges which were nicer but no salad and the worst thing is this burger was £15…. I’m so sorry but I cannot justify that price tag you can genuinely get a nicer burger for less than half that price. In fact the prices of the whole menu are willlllddddd

Nice pub by the park with some of the best cheesy chips you can find :-) Reasonable priced wine with more expensive options if you want them. Great place to stop for lunch especially if you have a dog.

The only pizza comparable involves a flights to Napoli. Absolutely delicious!!!!

Great location and very good choice of beers and lagers. Ours was a spontaneous visit and we opted for the burgers and fries. This was a mistake. A very basic serving. The sort of thing I would expect at a burger van after a night on the tiles. Definitely not worth the money. Served with big potato chips, it was actually embarrassing and not what I expected having seen other dishes well presented.

A good cellar and unique menu. Located near a town park setting for post-lunch walks.. outdoor areas are clean and well managed. Limited parking.

Popped in with my mum on our way into town, and we were so glad we did! Lots of options on the menu for vegetarians as well as meat eaters. We both chose the Mac 'n Cheese with salad and garlic ciabatta for our lunch, and it was delicious. We both said it was the best Macaroni Cheese we'd ever had! The salad and garlic bread were lovely too, and it was all presented beautifully. The perfect cosy pub to just sit and enjoy the atmosphere - it actually feels like a country pub! Friendly staff too. We will definitely be back.

I have popped in for a quick pint and had a meal, I have been in when it's quiet and it's busy. Whenever I've been in, the service has been exceptional. Great food, great beer, great atmosphere, great character, reasonably priced and friendly, helpful and efficient staff If you pop in, you won't be disappointed.

Good pub grub, if a little pricey. We sat in the snug where a group of ladies meet and knit. Lovely community feeling.
