The Woods, Leeds in Leeds

Since being taken over it doesn't seem as busy. The ban of smoking in the outside area means that customers are smoking out on the street blocking the path, which isn't ideal for Chapel Allerton residents. The women's toilets use to be lovely with fresh flowers and felt feminine and a nice environment. Recently, being so close to the kitchen the women toilets have a very strong scent of burgers and fried food which is extremely off putting.

Great burgers (that's the only food they have, but it's great and well priced. Other pubs should learn), nice staff, nice music. Pricey beer tho

Food is mainly burgers. But they are excellent burgers. Value for money. Excellent music Saturdays. I will go back when Louis Louis Louis play again in 2025.

Shame that the once popular smoking side of the outdoor area has moved people who smoke two floors up or onto the street thanks to a random complaint. Otherwise it was a good spot to eat and drink with friendly staff!

Refreshing to see new life breathed into the woods. Love the new additions in the interior with the plants looks really fresh, staff really friendly and helpful and the new burgers are delicious! Hats off to the new owners they’ve done a great job of retaining the good parts about the woods whilst also fixing it up.

Had a great time at an engagement party in the top floor events space. Jaden was on the bar and recommended great whiskies that I’d never tried before, and also some house spirits. Would definitely come back n

Nice bar with great potential but also has quite a few shortcomings. No music, service at the bar is very slow and often staff keeps asking what did you order a couple of times. It's also rather expensive. They do serve pizzas but then again some items are out of stock.

Good pizzas and beers. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seats. Accessible for wheelchair users.

First time visiting. Really liked the atmosphere and look of the place. Amy who served us was great and outside area was class!

Waited an hour and fifteen minutes for food which never arrived. Ultimately we had the money refunded as the kitchen was closed. We had little, to no, apology.

We ordered 4 cocktails. We asked for sugar round the glasses of the margaritas and got salt. The negroni had no orange peel. They was no care taken when making them, one had more in it than the other . Very disappointing. We would have mentioned these things at the time but customer service behind the bar was poor. We wasted £36

Food was delicious. Staff and atmosphere was lovely. Good value for money.

We ordered three Porchettas but unfortunately the pork was tough and the skin soft. No crackling just soft skin.

The Wood is a magic place in chapel Allerton. Good music, good food, cosy.. Food is great and the atmosphere brings you back home. Probably that is my favourite place in that area

We were a group of weary Dads who stumbled into the The Woods late on a friday night for some final drinks, it was a great atmosphere even after 11pm. But best of all we were treated to exceptional service: drinks at the table (almost as soon as we were seated), a couple of recommended shots, and ultimately a great end to the evening before we called it a day. Remy, who served us all night, was fantastic, she was professional, punctual but above all personal and it's this sort of service that will bring us back - assuming this is the standard The Woods set! Thanks Remy and the team! See you again!

We booked for Sunday dinner having looked at the menu during the week and seeing that they have a vegan Sunday roast option (we’ve also eaten vegan Sunday roast here previously many times). Unfortunately when we arrived there was no vegan option, only vegetarian. The online menu has not been updated. This was really disappointing. It seems a really strange decision to provide 1 vegetarian roast option when it could easily be made vegan and cater for both vegetarians and vegans. We ordered pizza instead and it was OK but we have had much better food here previously. The other people we ate with ordered roasts and the Yorkshire puddings didn’t arrive so we had to get up to ask about this. The person behind the bar was very helpful and understanding, despite being on his own clearly trying to do a lot of things at once, he sorted this out immediately and was great. Not sure if they were short staffed but seemed like there were not enough people working. It definitely felt as though things have slipped. It was also really cold and whilst I understand the vibe of the place is laid back and a bit rustic, some of the chairs are falling apart and are uncomfortable and need to be replaced. We’ve had great food here previously so hopefully it was just a blip. The menu needs updating online and it’s strange not to cater for vegans these days. To say we had to pay a £40 deposit to book the table I would have expected a higher standard of both food and service.

I gave 2 stars for not being honest to the customer. The waiter who served us was nice. The place is nice, clean and warm. But... They charge £3.50 for a gluten free pizza dough without informing on the menu nor by the waiter. What it was riveting, the waiter informed I could take extra toppings and its approx price, but he didn't say I'd have to pay for a Gluten free base. It is misleading and dishonest towards a customer, so I ended up paying £16.50 for pizza whereas Sunday roast costs £17. I think the pizza was good, but too much overpriced! I'd definitely try the Sunday roast instead. Moreover, the parmesan cheese has been removed, whereas I clearly confirmed the parmesan was alright to be there. The manner of handling that situation wasn't good either.

It's an average place for a drink

I really wish this was my local pub. We live in Roundhay which is little over a mile away, but we make the effort to come here as it's simply the best pub in North Leeds. Love everything about this place.

Came here for the drag bingo event a week or so ago. Sat downstairs for a drink first and the atmosphere was brilliant and really reasonably priced. When we moved up the event space we ordered some food and it came out in really good time (and we ordered a lot). The pizzas were so good!! Didn’t expect them to be so big, definitely good value for money. Will definitely be back!

Loved the design work outside and in. Very welcoming. Friendly staff members throughout. Only had chance to try the pizza but it absolutely hit our taste buds, and tummies perfectly. Met the new manager who appears so on top of the future of The Woods. 5✨ throughout. Clean and lovely

I ate Sunday lunch here last Sunday. I left disappointed. I had the beef roast. The portion size was tiny, two tiny slices of beef, one mouthful of greens. I'm an adult male, not a twelve year old. My girlfriend had the pork which was advertised as being served with crackling but came with none. They had no cauliflower cheese, I presume because they couldn't be bothered to make any (it's not like the ingredients are hard to come by) When we arrived, the table we had pre-booked had been given to someone else. We had to stand there like a couple of lemons while they cleaned a different table. You have to order at the bar, but the barmaid was busy chatting to two guys drinking at the bar who had all her attention. I get the feeling that whoever is managing this place couldn't run a bath.

Sadly the woods has gone down hill in recent times. Booked for 6 for Sunday roasts and pizza. Food came out at different times which was frustrating. The roast was no where near as good as it used to be, smaller portions, Yorkshire puddings no longer seem home made and pork had no crackling despite being advertised. Veggie option disappointing, bring back the pies. Hope it improves otherwise will lose a lot of custom

I love the woods, the food and vibes are fantastic. But please, please bring back the cheese pie or nut roast as the veggie roast options, both of which were delicious! Something more substantial than cabbage.

This is truly an oasis in a concrete jungle..!! Fantastic food., Amazing staff..the friendliest you could ever wish to meet. I frequent this venue to catch my friends' performances, often on weekends. The food and service are excellent. As for the price, it varies based on your choices; drinks range from £5 to £7, and meals from £10 to £20 per person. In winter, the efficiently burning log fireplace is a cozy touch.

Great bar staff with a fun atmosphere.

Had lunch today with my husband and came away disappointed. Very accomodating to make us a 'half and half' pizza but the Morroccan Chicken half was quite sloppy compared to the Goats Cheese and Onion which was delicious! Waited extra 10 minutes for side of wedges with bacon as server apparently had tripped with the original lot but neglected to inform us and our food was almost done by the time another dishful arrived. Disappointingly they were reheated wedges which were overcooked but barely warm with undercooked bacon( Lardons may have worked better ). Was here last night and the place was buzzing and food much better. Westons Cider was excellent tho on draught but unfortunately was let down by the food. First time I have been disappointed to eat at one of my fave settings. Was quiet so expected better. Would return but hope the standard is back to its usual best next time.

They haven’t updated their vegan options, I’ve gone to Rudy’s across the road 3 times instead because their vegan pizza is brilliant.

Recommended as “best pizza” close to us and did not disappoint! We went on a Saturday and they only serve pizza, which is what we were looking for anyways. Ordered a pizza for an 8yo with just pepperoni, which she really enjoyed. Ordered myself one of their new pizzas, with chicken and feta, I really enjoyed it and would get it again. My partner had a cheese and potato pizza which was also very tasty! The staff were lovely and helpful, we did have a minor mistake on the bill but this was likely due to miscommunication with all the noise which was rectified quickly. Dogs are also welcome here and we brought our Sprocker Spanish. Lots of dogs were about the restaurant inside and outside. Overall a very pleasant time here and great food! Would go again.

Would have given more stars, but got accused of being drunk and wife spilling her drink. Complained to manager who said they had made a mistake. I was upset and asked for a complementary drink as I had come downstairs and lost my place at the bar, to which she said no.. quite abruptly.

I visited yesterday, as it was fully booked at Rudys next door to yours. And what a mistake!! The place looks very cool and welcoming, the menu a bit pricey bur correct and interesting. I went to the bar to order food and drink, pay and even pay a service charge as until that point everything was okay, and straight away after I got told there is no more chocolate Martini cocktail, and no other cocktails as you ran out of the " pre made mix for it" so you charge £9 for a cocktail using pre made mix for it ?? What a shame ! But not a big deal it's okay After waiting 35 minutes For the 3 pizza we ordered I asked one of the waitress (hiding behind the till on her phone...) How long for our food and she went to check Came back straight away with 2 of the pizza 1 cold (which was okay as was for 2 young children) and the other one for my wife but was missing 3 topping that was supposed to be one They took it back and brought it back about 20 min later Same pizza as earlier just dry... Very Dry For the third pizza which was for me, I had to go and asked again to the make waiter And even offered him if he wanted me to go and cook it myself. I struggle to believe they are hand made pizza Just very disappointed by the service, food quality I mean we pay £76 (including 10% service charge) I was expecting better As a trained chef and a customer I felt robbed and let down.

Always a nice atmosphere. Only complaint, the lovely rooftop bar was shut on such a warm beautiful afternoon and always seems to be the case when I happen to visit, when the sun is out.

For some reason they have suddenly dropped gluten free pizza bases from their menu, with no plan to bring them back. Do not come here for food if you have coeliac disease. You will be hungry. Ignore the old reviews about gluten free pizza, this is no longer the case.

Visited yesterday with friends. We chose this place as their menu mentions Gluten free pizza base. However when we arrived they told us they don't do them anymore and gave us another menu to choose from. I was told by the staff that some of the dishes might be gluten free but they didn't kno which and noone came to help. The waiters had no idea how to check or notify the kitchen about our dietary needs and seemed very disinterested. They also took our order wrong and ordered a different dish. It is such a shame because the venue is great, especially the rooftop bar.

Went for Sunday lunch as I have been several times on a Saturday & had a good experience. Waited over an hour with no update from anyone.... roast chicken dinner was adequate but not very hot, vegan pie was burnt...disappointing on the whole after a VERY long wait

Nice bar with a good selection of drinks. The pizzas are very nice too. The ambience is nice outside and good for polite conversation. I always find the music too loud inside to converse without shouting.

Fab Electroo/dance music nights.. Jus pleasy stop drunk fellaz wiv pints, literally spillin' onto the tiny upper dance floor. If they want to drink n watch. Great but they need to stand back, so we have space to dance to the wonderful music 😍xxxx

The venue was so cold my companion put her coat back on and a diner at another table asked the server to stoke the log fire it was that cold, service was slow. After waiting over 30 minutes we went in search of our server to place our food order - there were only two other dining tables Portions were child-size at best. They are toasting their advertised “crusty bread” to hide stale bread. The bread they served was the cob end and inedible. It was so hard that I lacerated the roof of my mouth. To top it all I was charged for a drink I never ordered or received. Management was informed and they have brushed off my complaint as irrelevant. I wouldn't return to this venue

Is very nice place with great potential, unfortunately the staff is absolutely amateurish. Serving watery Moreti, when I said the Moreti taste like a water, he said there was several complaints and change the pint four same water beer. The front area continously dirty dishes and glasses etc rubbish on the tables. Shame for this place.

It's okay and they serve some quality drinks, however it was disappointing that they closed so early on a Saturday night when the bar was full. It seems odd that they would do this when so many places are struggling to get people in, not sure why they don't stay open longer and take the money.

I bloody love this place . The 80s new wave and night is amazing. In a lovely location as well. The bar staff are lovely and the rooftop bar is great too.
