The service was slow had to go to the bar for drinks when we actually got are meals and asked for sauces we had nearly ate are meals would never recommend this pub to anyone

Brilliant choice of food good service and good quality food

I bring my dad for his lunch every week we both enjoy the food great value for money. Lovely staff always so pleasant and helpful. Lisa has served us always the same and has a chat with us asks how we are etc.

Grand kids love going here for their tea.

After a long day travelling it’s unbelievable that a bar attached to an hotel calls last orders at 21,30!!

This is my second visit to the Woodpecker for breakfast. Both times the food & service has been excellent! You have a nice variety of continental to choose from as well as plenty on the hot menu, veggie options too. You order your hot food (as much as you like) which is much better as the food is cooked fresh and not a dried up buffet style. I have had poached eggs with my breakfast on both occasions, which have been cooked perfectly. For £10.99 it really is good value for money. Theres a nice variety of pastries, crumpets, pancakes, fruit, cereals etc. The service has been great both times, Keith today was exceptional. He was very friendly and looked after us perfectly, a credit to the Woodpecker! We are already looking forward to our next breakfast visit!

The Woodpecker Cookhouse provided food for those staying at the Premier Inn next door. Let's start with breakfast. If, like me and my family, you choose the full English the choice is superb and cooked fresh and not standing in containers on the counter. Then lunch. Again a good selection of good quality " pub grub". A great selection of dishes and well cooked and presented. We had a Sunday roast. The meat, beef for three of us and gammon for the fourth, was beautifully cooked and generous. There was a great vegetable selection. Last but not least evening meals. A great choice and well presented , cooked well and filling. My family and I would recommend. Even if you are passing travellers it is a must.

Visited for a meal with my partner. Chloe was our waitress and she went above and beyond to make sure we had the best experience. Food was delicious and we will definitely be returning

Will not be be returning to eat here again due to the unprofessional reception received on arrival and subsequently the meal was just as "cold". My 7 guests were of the same opinion

We didn't actually eat here. We booked a table for 12, turned up at 11.57 and all the staff were sat around a table. When they finally acknowledged us, they were rude and arrogant. We said we had a booking at 12, they looked at their watches and the manager looked at us and said "What? Well, were going to finish our break first." The way they spoke to us made us leave and eat elsewhere.

Pity pub shuts at 10pm but overall good service.

Stayed here with work. I personally wouldn't opt to stay here. The pub lacks any sort of atmosphere and is way too big. When I stayed, the bar closed at 9pm due to no customers. The food was disappointing, and the starter was inedible as it was deep fried, overcooked, and swimming in grease. The hunters chicken wasn't too bad. The beer was flat, I had carling. I won't be staying here again, with work or otherwise. Needs some TLC and an injection of charisma.

Food ok. Portions seem to b getting smaller. Appeared thrown on the plate. Bit greasy. Drink that slw arriving. Finished meal bef arriving so cancelled

Always get good service from the staff at this place. Food is decent enough considering the pricing makes it affordable for most people.

Staff went above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience. Jason was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. Food was delicious and excellent value for money.

Great experience, very busy. Quickly served for drinks and the food order 5 mins after the drinks. The food was lovely and we really enjoyed the atmosphere.

Went on NYE for a meal our table was booked for 7.30. it was a lot quieter than I expected didn't seem many staff. Menu was ok wouldn't be somewhere I would go to regular

This is the 4th time we have eaten her and the bar lady as yet to crack smile she just plonks the drink down and can not believe that it was £4.69 for 2 pieces of garlic bread and I mean small pieces ☹️☹️☹️☹️

Lovely place. Me and my friend came on a Friday night for a Christmas meet up. It wasn’t too loud, busy or chaotic. The staff were brilliant. So welcoming and nice. Food came out quickly and was delicious. Can’t fault them for anything

Usual pub chain grub. But at a very reasonable price.

Arrived to a car park full of parents parking to collect their school kids. Nearly didn't get a disabled parking space. Then school kids were at the top of the ramp in the way. Door situation was difficult to use with a wheelchair, one you push then you pull the next door. We waited 4 minutes for staff to seats us, which caused one on crutches more pain standing. Then we waited 3 minutes for the drinks order and then 4 minutes for the food order to be taken. Baring in mind it was quite empty. Also I found the music a little too loud to enjoy a conversation at the table. And the lights were quite dimmed and difficult to see the menu. Staff was not attentive throughout visit. Had to ask passing staff to order and for the bill. The food was basic unfortunately. Had better food and service in standard pubs. Won't be returning.

Lovely pub/eatery, reasonably priced food and drink served by warm welcoming staff. Perfect for business travel or large groups. Great choice of beverages and perfectly cook meals.

The attention and service from Lisa was top notch. A happy smiley face and a happy smiley attitude, nothing was to much trouble. 5 stars.

Food was really good,staff were attentive and polite. We were stood by the bar for a while whilst waiting to pay,eventually had to walk around the pub to find a member of staff to come and take our payment.

Another excellent meal at the Woodpecker...the food is always tasty and I thoroughly enjoyed the chicken tikka curry! The staff are very welcoming and friendly...special mention here to Lisa and Keith and also to the wonderful Debbie who orchestrates the whole operation. Give it a try...well worth it in so many ways!!

Highly recommend this restaurant. Staff are excellent especially Debbie, Harry, Jordan, Ryan,Lisa, Daniel and everyone I've missed out I'd like to mention Chef Tom for cooking us the steaks we have ever had. And everyone else who work so hard in the kitchen, and serve us the most perfect meals time and time again. We travel twice a week for more than 90 miles return trip that is how good this restaurant is. To the owners of cookhouse and pub this restaurant deserves recognition for the continuous hard work quality and customer service week in week out. Everyone member of staff is a credit to you.

Just had a lovely Sunday roast finished by Tiramisu. Family and friends enjoyed their meals also 😋 Staff were lovely and friendly. They have Cold Guiness which I love so had to partake in a few. All in all a good experience!

Food was ok for Premier Inn breakfast, if a little slow. Staff were helpful. Bar closed early and was empty so definitely lacking in atmosphere.

Visited here unannounced to eat dinner to celebrate our Granddaughters birthday. The staff were superb, a brilliant menu and all of our food was served to the highest standards. Far in excess of what our bill said. We will be back for sure

Booked a table for Sunday lunch, arrived only to be told there were no Sunday lunches available. Pointless booking for a meal if it’s not available when you arrive! Place has deteriorated lately, most times something is missing from the meal and waiting times are increasing all the time. We went to White Barn and got a lovely Sunday lunch.

Quite slow service but was busy

A lovely pub with very reasonable mid-week prices for the great quality of food. Visit for every family occasion, including birthdays. Staff always happy to accommodate if you bring a cake.

This place. Is amazing. The food is second too none. The staff are polite and friendly. This is my second time here, and if I could be here every day, I would. It's a little corner of Heven. Don't think that just because the food is good, you will only get a small amount. With how well the staff work to keep everything topped up. You will not go hungry. Combin the dedication from the staff. The quality of the food. The wonderful atmosphere. This place is my favourite place to eat.

Staffing issues would appear to be the biggest problem here as we witnessed the same staff wandering around aimlessly, happy to let their colleagues (who didn’t seem to ever stop) do all the work. It took way too long to be served at the Bar In the evening and the Breakfast service seemed to overwhelm the kitchen despite having to book time slots to eat. At least 15 walk ins were turned away in the time we were there despite the main eating area of the pub being empty. I’m not sure what factors limited their capacity that morning but it seems a strange way to run a food business.

Perfect A great experience from start to finish Plenty of tables, but none so cramped that it feels like you're part of a cattle market. A great selection of music that was just loud enough to hear and hum along to, but not so loud that it drowned out your conversations. My food was cooked to perfection (mixed grill, then jam roly poly. My compliments to the chef) But the best part of the night was my server HARRY. If you're lucky enough to be waited on by Harry, then you're in for a treat. Perfectly groomed, but not arrogantly so. Harry waited on me with all the dedication, poise, grace and attentiveness of a gentleman. He also had an intuition of what was needed and when that bordered on a 6th sense, too many servers either leave you alone too long, or bug you too often. Harry could be the example on which all servers should be judged All in all, a great experience, but made even better by the amazing staff. 100/10, would definitely visit again, and even go out of my way to dine there.

Waitresses attitude stunk towards all of the people on our table. I asked them if I could swap the garlic bread from my meal to a couple of stems of broccoli to be told “no! due to stock take”?? As well as this another meal in our table was tasteless, cold and inedible. The chips were minging and the pie was rock hard and just warm. We also asked the same snotty waitress that came to our table if we could swap the chips for jacket potato to be told no we don’t do jacket potato?? Yet if they actually looked at the starter menu they would clearly see that they serve jacket potato with butter!! Food was discussing tables were dirty Generally a waste of money as well as staff that need to learn how to speak polite to all customers. Also when I spoke to the manager about our extremely awful experience, the same snotty waitress muttered under her breath “well don’t come back again then” Avoid at all costs 👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎

Unable to use tills for multiple days, one is annoying but it happens - more than one unacceptable in 21st century. Staff seemed to think they were doing a favour making bills by hand and just complained all the time about doing so.

Good food eventually .bad service got the drink order wrong three times got food after a long wait off wich out of four orders one was completely forgotten about and didn't arrive until the other had finished. Would be better run if staff weren't running around doing 8 different jobs .and weren't straight out off school

If in the area, no we always call in for a reasonably priced quick, hot meal. Pleasant dining areas, car park and welcoming staff.

You have to go early to get a Sunday Roast. Sold out by 6pm.

Joy at Breakfast and Harry at Dinner were both fantastic! Food was lovely and edible and overall a great atmosphere and very well looked after, staff are fantastic with children too!

There seemed to be a shortage of staff. Had to wait quite a while for our mains and when it arrived one of the orders was incorrect and it was almost cold but it tasted OK.

Called in this morning without booking, greeted by a lovely lady who stated they had 120 in for breakfast but still managed to fit us in . We were seated and didn't seem to busy being early. within 20 mins the place was packed. There seems to be one lady on her own who really did service with a smile regardless of the pressure she must of been under waiting on people on her own. This lady is a credit to cookhouse nothing was too much trouble and did not bucket under the immense pressure she was under. Shame she had been put in this position by management. Although she did cover everything she shouldn't be under this kind of pressure. Would definitely go again after today's experience only as the staff at the breakfast service were amazing . Would recommend a bonus for this lady as doing a great job

Stayed at the premier inn next door. Your food was cold and could not chew through the meat, my partner had to save me from choking on leathery beef. The vegetables and meat were cold and the only thing giving the food a bit of warmth was the gravy. Nighttime food .... no thanks. However breakfast was wonderful warm and tasty. How can you get main meals of an evening so wrong but breakfast so good hmm

Keep giving this place a chance as its local and take advantage of the special offers they send. Food a bit hit and miss and always seem to run out of things even early in the evening. Never many staff around and usually left waiting before being seated. Have to book but don't know why as the place is never full
