The Woodman in Broadland

Went here for a carvery at 5pm on a Monday … everything had been ‘kept warm’ since first opening the day. No meats joints on view and had to say which meat we wanted at the till when ordering .. got served with two very miserly half slices of obviously reheated dry meat (asked for more and was given one more half slice very grudgingly). Little jugs of luke warm gravy and lukewarm vegetables (some had run out). Yorkshire pubs were so hard they were difficult to cut ! Overall definitely not worth the money at this time of day at least !

Family with 3 generations had fabulous carvery ; generous portions, lovely staff who went the extra mile to cook my fussy daughter some chicken as she didn’t like beef, pork or gammon. Parking was easy with lots space Well worth a visit and so pleased that’s it’s open again- we will definitely come back

Great meal and drinks tonight Joe and George made us feel very welcome. Under new management so let’s support this local pub with a now very lovely menu and drinks 🙂

Decided to try pub with friends as we live in the village so could walk there. Got there about 2pm pub was virtually empty, staff were welcoming. They offer all day carvery which 3 of us went for, was delicious and fresh, though such a shame some of it had to be made especially for us, must be such a waste of food and money to do this all week. Our friend had the chicken burger which again looked amazing and tasted very good. The chef is excellent and I’m sure will look further afield if trade doesn’t pick up or will be poached by another establishment! My friend and I decided on sweets which again were delicious and very good value at £3.50 each as we had had a carvery! We would definitely return again, but maybe they should think about offering the carvery just at weekends and concentrate on the main menu during the week like a lot of pubs, as the atmosphere was sadly lacking. Though we walked car park regulations will put off a lot of people, including us. All in all a nice lunch with friends, but so much could be achieved with the right marketing/menu etc.

You've been able to use the Woodman car park for years to use the corner shop across the road. The shop had big signs on it saying you could. Went a couple of weeks ago, parked as normal, got a parking ticket for £100. I've paid the early fine (£60, bargain) as it was ultimately my fault for not noticing the signs on the shop had been removed or covered. Either the shop, or the pub needed to have made this change more obvious and I won't be using either in future.

Dropped a family member off for drinks and a couple of weeks later get a parking fine through my door for £100 but if I pay within 14 day it drops to £60 what a total scam no light where the signs are so can not see them when its dark be warned do not drive to this place .

Very friendly staff Debbie and her husband keep a great variety of beers and wines at very reasonable prices. Cheerful table service in outdoors shelter, Marcia and Mark tucked in to all home grown veggies perfectly cooked and steak and ale pie (me with fragile teeth);

Very Unfriendly. Popped in one Sunday afternoon almost ignored by barman seemed we we're putting him out by wanting to order two drinks. Expensive too.

Definitely won’t recommend this pub it’s run down and the Landlandy and Landlord aren’t very welcoming will not be going back and the drinks are over priced

landlady harsh and blunt, landlord just watches sport on TV overweight dog nice, will never go back left feeling depressed

Last visited in July, customers are not so friendly, so I wont be using this pub again. Beer prices are a bit steep, Guinness never goes down in price, just up and up.

Was a good pub around 8 years ago, since it got taken over it’s gotten worse and worse, won’t ever go back here again

Visited on the off chance. Haven’t been in for years. Only roasts available today which was fine for us. The food itself for the price was fine. Just a home cooked roast dinner. Nothing fancy. The place itself is very tired and needs some investment. If you just need a quick Sunday lunch then cant fault but not much else apart from that really.

We visited here in July 2019. This used to be our local, but the last owner was such an unpleasant person that we stopped going there. Temporary owners are now in place. They were friendly and welcoming. The beer was well kept. However the overall ambience is shabby, without the chic. It does have great potential however and I hope someone realises this. If they do, please serve morning coffee and good Sunday breakfasts .....

A really difficult job for the current (short term ?) tenants to pick this place up again after it was shut for a while and the previous tenant had chased gastro pub trade. So we tried it for a Sunday roast. Beef, pork or chicken and leek pie on offer with the best yorkshires I've had for years, they really were like mother used to make. Veg was roasit and mashed potatoes, cabbage, peas, carrots, cauliflower, and broccoli. A lovely roast. We followed up with what seemed like a home made steamed pudding with caramel sauce and proper custard. Worth trying them if you like whats on offer.

its a property owned by ei, used to be enterprise inns. the tenant left in december with a big row over work not done by the tenant, ei claiming £20,000 back from the tenant (according to the evening news). the carpet was so bad you felt like wiping your feet when you came out. it needs a major refurb or simply to be sold to a private individual. service and food availability was always unpredictable. its hard for tenants to make a go of things as you are tied in to high cost beers etc. it has potential but with the pub business on the decline its work is cut out. its in flux at the moment but its open for a beer, at least for now. good parking. go on spec if nearby but several good alternative choices around

I used to go here all the time, loved the food and the atmosphere, don’t really know just lost interest, there were new rules about wearing hats so me and all my usual mates found somewhere else to go. If there was a problem with 1 out of the 5 of us wearing a hat we decided to look for another pub, so unfortunately lost interest in the place now.

Went here for Sunday dinner with family. Ordered the vegetarian roast and really enjoyed it. Reasonable prices and lovely setting. The female staff were very friendly and helpful and gave a high level of service they were super lovely! My roast was really nice I really enjoyed it. The male that answered the phone that morning when I rang to check if dogs are allowed was slightly rude, but it was a Sunday so I understand. Would certainly return but would recommend to the chef that more vegetarian and vegan options are added as needs more variety, such as nut roast or vegetarian burger. Great local pub am lucky to live near it.

Very friendly excellent service, and the food prepared by Darren was delicious. The wild boar burger was especially good. Darren came out to check our order as we asked for a kiddies meal for my elderly mum, he then brought out a lovely grannie size plate of Hake and chips.
