One of the better fish and chips shops in westbridgford. Great GF selection and great portions. Highly recommend.

Typical get cod and chips, but can never finish all the chips as there’s too many. Have tried several other items on the menu and occasionally have a kebab which always nice for a change

I previously reviewed this place after a bad experience. I have been back to the wolds chippy again today and Maria has definitely restored my confidence in this fish bar. The food was top notch and reminded me why I have been going to the wolds chippy for over 6 years. Thank you Maria, can’t wait to see more positive reviews coming in for you. I had cod and chips, the cod was cooked perfectly with crispy golden batter and it tasted fresh. The chips were cooked well. Also great to see the portions are back to how they were. I will be returning for more. Sorry no pictures, we ate it all before we had chance

I have just been to this chippy and I had a large cod and chips. The fish was juicy and crispy and was cooked spot on. The staff are both kind friendly and very polite. Would highly recommend.

I have visited a number of chip shops in the area and this one is by far the best. The food is exceptional and the staff are really friendly. Excellent service

This place seems hit and miss a lot of the time. Sadly, it seems to be miss more often than not. Chips either not cooked properly or you can taste the fact they've been sat there for a while. Been going to this place for years (used to work there) but I won't be going back now after the manager tried to refuse my money then continue to embarrass me while others were in the shop. Pricing is about average for the area but the food is not. Not the worst place in the area but no where near the best Edit due to owner response - I fully understand the need to be sure that the money given is 100% real, although I've actually never heard or seen a counterfeit pound coin myself. The manager told me she didn't want to accept it due to it being dirty AFTER embarrassing me in front of customers (who were actually members of my sons school, which Maria did not know I knew them) I used to come in daily for my son as chippy chips are one of his safe foods (he is autistic). Sadly, this was not the first 'problem' I've had here but it was the final straw. Maria was always good to me so not sure what happened. I stopped working there around 4 years ago due to personal issues. I wish the new owners all the best and hope you can return the shop to its former glory

I’ve never made a bad review before but this was that bad it was insulting. £17 for 2 doner meat and chips, and I’m not picky or over reacting but this was disgusting. The chips were not cooked and dripping in fat and oil. The meat tasted awful, it was either in tiny bits that were black and burnt or huge thick chunks that was that pale it looked like pork. On top all of this within all the bits was 2 sharp red bits of plastic, this could have been very dangerous if swallowed which pushed me to write this review. We tried this chip shop as it was the last one open in our area , but we won’t be returning and making that mistake again.

The recent rebranding has put this Chip Shop on a par with all the other independent ones in the area - The difference in quality now is notable but as a consequence their pricing is on a par with competitors but this is understandable due to the better taste. This chip shop has been here for over 20 years and it's offering their best food & the shop will be here for another 20 years - it has an army of happy loyal regulars who can overlook the slight increase in price for the convenience of keeping their local chippy, Maria has worked here for years and is always nice even in the busy times so regardless of a couple of negative reviews get yourself down here and make your own mind up . If you want cheap chips go to Heron !

First order was amazing. Best takeout ever had. Subsequent 3 orders - AWFUL! Chips were cold and covered in strange stuff which left an odd burnt after taste. Then wrong orders and missing items too. Disappointed after that first order which is what I was the quality I was expecting.

Since new ownership, the place has gone down hill. The prices have shot right up, yet the quality remains average. With there being some excellent chip shops in the local area, you'd expect this place to try and be competitive, but apparently not. I recommend George's or the Cods Scallop for an excellent fish and chips! Prices are about the same but the quality is MUCH better!

Just had small fish, chips and mushy peas for the first time from the New Wolds Chippy and it was the BEST fish and chip supper I have had in a long time! It even beats the fish and chips we have had at the seaside! Good size portion, beautifully cooked fish and perfect batter that melts in your mouth. Very friendly service aswell. Would recommend to everyone!

Fabulous fish and chips Arrived to a busy shop on Good Friday. Placed quite a big order including a gluten free fish and chips . Nothing was too much trouble for the staff . Polite and welcoming. Beautifully clean restaurant. The fish was delicious and very reasonably priced .

Me and my partner thought we would try this place out as our usual go to chippy was closed, it looked pretty nice at a first glance, but honestly food was not great and when we got home, we realised one of our main food items was missing most likely due to the fact staff were just chatting to each other the entire time they were sorting our order and clearly weren't paying a lot of attention to what they were doing. We got asked twice of our order, and repeated everything back to her, and one of our items was still missing. Paid £10 and was barely worth half of that, especially with not getting everything we paid for. The food was okay at best, but can't really comment since some of it was missing. The chips were also fairly undercooked and didn't feel too great after eating. Definitely don't recommened as there are much nicer chippies around the area. Won't be returning.

Ordered though Uber eats and my god the onions ring were disgusting I got food poisoning was throwing up because of them the amount of grease and oil on them was insane don’t ever eat from here!!

The worst fish and chips I have tried. The food was way to oily even for fried foods the woman serving the food was serving it to us without gloves and her hands were dirty I even saw her scratching her hair then touching our food. When I actually ate the atrocious food the scales at the back of the fish peeled off and we couldn’t finish any of it we ordered 2 doner kebabs chicken nuggets and some fish and chips. No one finished their food. DONT COME TO THIS RESTAURANT GO TO LADYBAY FISH AND CHIPS INSTEAD.

I dont Really do reviews, but this chip shop is the best!! I came in tonight and ordered my usual food. The staff was friendly and bubbly the food was delicious the Fish was tasty and fresh, the chips was lovely Peas was amazing I enjoyed the whole meal i will be definitely will be coming back shortly thanks Girls.

Awful food , every time is shockingly bad , everything is so greasy , the fat tastes like it is months old , the floor and counters are filthy , and to top it off had a battered sausage today and it was frozen in the middle , people could get seriously poorly serving food like this , how hard can it be to cook a sausage ?? They should be ashamed , a disgrace

I had fish and chips but didn't find it so good. The fish was not so fresh and the oil tasted heavy.

Used to be great. Now it's expensive for low quality food. Pies are dry (multiple occasions) chips were so bad last time I actually threw them out. Very sad, will not go again.

Chip cobs are soggy and floppy and end up falling apart the chips were undercooked and had bits of black bits of batter awful don’t use this chippy the cobs are dry not very happy all 2 chip butties £8.50 what a waste and the curry sauce was like tap water

Staff always seem to have a little giggle with each other when I order my food, didn't realise I was performing stand up 😂 said order was sausage n chips essentially, sausage was frozen in the middle so I embarrassingly had to return and get a refund. Months later I tried again with the same order, battered sausage, chips n curry sauce with a bottle of pop... £10!! Expected decent food but it was dreadful. Oily, undercooked chips, sausage seemed like it was wrapped in fluffy carpet and fried for 30 seconds... Very close to being cold, and the curry sauce tasted bizarre. 1/10 and I'm done with the place (it used to be very good)

Staff appeared to be doing you a favour in serving you. The Cod had a 'tangy' taste to it and chips were hard. Won't use again.

Lovely food and big portions though the large cod doesn't look much different at all to the small . Staff are always friendly and my kids love the battered halloumi!
