Not impressed with brunch at The Wiremill this morning. Order was eggs on wholemeal toast with extra grilled tomatoes and hash browns. Plate arrived with white bread. When staff were asked about choice of wholemeal not being given, the explanation was they had run out. Surely this should have been explained before the food was served. Also there was one half a tomato and the eggs were overcooked. I would not return there.

Such a lovely, unique place to stay and eat. So cosy and homely! 100% recommend this place. Beautiful view of the lake and delicious food

We have stayed two nights in the boutique rooms below the bar and restaurant at the Inn. It has lots of history and culture around the building it is a great destination to discover and return to. I have visited a few times before and love to return to this country and lakeside location. Thank you very much we will be back.

Lovely little find , will return again . Stayed last night , quiet little stay, clean room nice bar and atmosphere . Friendly staff ; and felt it was good value .

The food was terrible - how can you ruin a Caesar salad? By adding so much dressing it stings your mouth. The rooms had no heating and mine only had a bath where you couldn't shower standing up. Looks nice in Insta maybe but totally impractical. The walls were paper thin so very noisy too. Staff were polite but appeared disinterested. The WiFi blocks VPN access so could not work there during the day. It's a lovely location for a coffee/drink but the rest is at best poor.

Did not stay because we were staying somewhere else. We popped in for a drink. It was beautiful. Lively staff. Gadto drag my daughter away as it was so cosy.

You can't fault the location, set on the lake it's a beautiful view and the venue consider the weather with blankets, outdoor heaters and the canopy. However, having been before and loved the food, this was terrible. It's not rocket science that halloumi fries should not be reheated, they taste like rubber otherwise,which is what we got. It took 8 mins from me ordering via the app (itself something that takes a away the experience of eating out) to the duck confit arriving at our tables, covered in gravy to hide the fact it had clearly been zapped in the microwave to get food out quickly. I expect to wait for decent food to be cooked and happily oblige whilst soaking up the ambience of the location but that's just ridiculous. The owner will probably use the fact they are under new ownership to counter this which I have seen from other reviews, but two years down the line and they still have these problems? Save your money, pop in for a drink admire the view but eat elsewhere

Unfortunately standards have slipped since my last visit three years ago. They need to invest in a new chef to revamp the menu and offer a better quality of food/produce. It’s a shame as the venue is really nice but the food currently is weatherspoons standard. The menu has extremely limited options and is overpriced for the quality of food. Good service, nice young chap but smelt like drains, food was sub par and overpriced.

Beer garden full of wasps. Food ok. Allowing people to smoke (vapes).

No clean cleared tables and expect a long wait for overpriced pre cooked meals with a lot of waiting time. Supposedly rare breed pork was fatty the roast beef was tough as old boots and not pink as advertised. And the overcooked greens were grey and awful. It’s such a shame as the location is perfect (apart from the wasp nests) Not good at all for £20 per head and a £17 baked Camembert sharing starter.

Traveled up from Nottingham for a nights stay on an airport run from Gatwick Arrived Sunday afternoon settled in to a very pleasant room, great for the price, breakfast included. Had a fantastic Sunday lunch/evening meal sat outside and enjoyed the amazing setting, Great service from the staff, nice and friendly. If you’re lucky enough to live locally, I’m sure you would be here every Sunday. But anyone considering breaking up your airport run, then well worth a visit.

We visited on Thursday for my daughter’s 17th birthday. The location is lovely but swarming with wasps which is very annoying when trying to eat. The food was good but the service was shocking. When we arrived, we just stood there waiting, nobody asked us if they could help. The food and drinks took forever. Just felt very underwhelmed.

I can’t say anything about the hotel as I only went for a drink and snack. But amazing place with a beautiful view.

Amazing food, wonderful staff, beautiful view

Used to be a lovely place. Sadly it's gone down hill horribly. Arrived and sat outside to a dirty table but no effort made to clean it up. Order on app and literally had no interaction with staff aside from asking if the children could have their icecreams that came with the meals. Kids meals were OK if best. Fish Goujons & Chunky Chips and got a cheese burger with chips. Adults had chicken & Bacon pie and double cheese burger. Honestly didn't taste much better than McDonald's burgers. For an extra £10.75 the only difference was an extra patty. Beyond disbelief. Staff didn't come over once to check if everything was OK. It literally was like eating at a fast food place. £67.40 down the drain. Still hungry and that's after finishing the Kids left overs as well. As previously mentioned used to be lovely. Won't be going back for a good few years if anything.

Incredible food! Not mediocre at all like other comments we really really enjoyed ourselves. The atmosphere was lovely with a beautiful view over the lake. We had a choice to sit inside or outside and we chose outside with blankets available if we were getting cold. Dog friendly with treats and water available. Starter we had a baked camembert sharer which was very tasty. Mains we had moules frites and slow cooked belly pork both were delicious and well worth the price. Our little one had fish goujons and chips which he thoroughly enjoyed. The option to order at the bar or use the QR code is a fantastic idea especially for anyone who finds it hard to talk to others can just use their phone. Overall a really decent time was had here 100% recommend it.

Really friendly helpful service and tasty food well cooked and well presented

Nice view, but the service is shocking. Took 25-minutes for drinks to be served to our table, despite me having to order at the bar I wasn't allowed to wait for my drinks. Kids portions are ridiculously small and the chips with my sons burgers were stone cold. Like they'd scooped up the dregs and served it to a kid because they wont complaint. Roast is below average. I'm annoyed with myself at what an utter waste of time and money this place is. I mentioned to the staff the service was bad and so was the food. They did nothing and still charged me a fortune for a load of rubbish. Save yourself some disappointment and just go somewhere else.

We went for breakfast today, we waited 15min for our food and a latte. You would expect the hot drink to come out first and then the food a bit later. They both came out together. By then the food was cold and the latte was luke warm. When I questioned why did we not get our lattes first, told they only had one machine. Not an excuse sorry. The place was not even that busy. We won't be coming back.

Great food and Staff were amazing

Lovely place , great setting , staff friendly can not fault staff. We did not stay at the Wiremill just had food with friends so review only for food. How ever the food was so over priced for what it was . Im a vegan and as far as I could see it was a standard plant burger with some chips . No other trimmings like a salad to go with it. This was going on for £18.00. Could not see any desert menu for vegans. I do feel it was certainly lacking in the vegan department and more choice should be made available especially for the price that we paid. If there was more options then I do apologise but it should be made much clearer and more choice if possible - sorry 😞

We, unfortunately, ended up there in the rain so couldn't experience the location at its best and marred further by a very unpleasant smell in the area.

Sunday afternoon visit with family, views are the best thing about this place!! The Sunday Roast is below standard and not worth the price, everything is obviously cooked hours in advance giving that soggy/stale texture. If you book this place I would recommend an early sitting to get fresh food (on a Sunday). There are alot of staff however the service is pretty poor, not what you would expect for the money you're paying. Drinks are also pretty pricey.

Only visited pub restaurant - beautiful views from terrace. Service easy as we ordered food via app. Food was expensive for the portion sizes and awful presentation too. Small spoonful mackerel pate starter looked like it was scooped out of a tub and plonked on the plate with 3 little crostinis and lots of watercress and tiny cucumber cubes. Main course mussels were tiny, small portion and hadn't been cleaned well, so more than normal white bits (worms/barnacles) on the outside. Certainly not worth the price. Sadly left very hungry.

Views are nice, good location - that’s pretty much it for the positives Very expensive for what you get, £31 for 2 small mediocre sandwiches and 2 cokes, waited over 40 minutes for the drinks (still hadn’t arrived after food) went to the bar to ask and was made to feel it was my fault, a shrug of the shoulders - poor customer service Certainly will not be back and wouldn’t recommend at all! Enough has already been correctly said ie reviews, don’t waste your hard earned money here

Really lovely location and the food came quickly, we ordered the lunch sandwiches, the service was good although I did ask for mayo (along with 2 other tables I heard) and that didn’t arrive for anyone.

Nice view but absolutely do not waste your money on their atrocious food. How can you charge £9.75 for this piece of stale toast with not even half an avo? Utterly tasteless and terroble. How hard is it to mess up avo toast, a sausage (ours was cold) or a hashbrown. only giving two stars cuz of location and spritz was nice.

Nice location. Service okay. Starters arrived quickly, a further 50 min wait for mains. Starter was fine, main was okay. Dessert was nice but my plate has the sauce from another dish ( don’t know which one but the sauce was a different colour to the sauce on my dish) was smeared all over the bottom of the plate. I told the waitress who promised to sort it out. She returned with a napkin for me to wipe it up. I would have though that a clean plate would have been a better solution. Tea cups were stained too. It’s a shame as it could have been great but it felt like there was a real lack of attention to detail and lack of care. Clean plates are a basic

We visited the restaurant for dinner but didn't stay in the hotel. Very nice setting overlooking the lake and especially nice when the weather is pleasant. Unfortunately, the food was very average for the price and the staff, while friendly, were not attentive enough. Lovely location let down by everything else.

Took some friends to The Wire Mill yesterday and had an extremely pleasant time. We arrive via a walk and the view over the lake took our breath away. However, this was only enhanced by the service from the mainly young staff. They were friendly, yet professional and attentive. When I asked a question that the waitress didn't know the answer to, she sought out several colleagues to found out the answer for me. The food was excellent and well presented and we all loved our choices. One slight niggle was that the sweets were perfectly good, but clearly not chef made, if you're particular about that. It's not necessary, but it would be lovely to see a "Sweet of the Day" that was chef made as an option. It was also dog Friendly, a big bonus for me as I have 2 dogs. There was a lovely Dog Station with individual bowls for fresh water and a big container of dog biscuits. Lovely touch. Thank you for such a wonderful experience and great staff. On the back of our visit, my friends are planning to have their granddaughter's 21st family meal here. Well done all of you. X

Lovely setting. Friendly staff, food terrible, below average.Dried out small piece of chicken, soggy new potatoes and salad. Such a shame have been visiting for years. Really gone down hill. Good for drinks but not for food.

Spent a really lovely afternoon with my family today at the restaurant. The food was great, the staff were lovely and the whole atmosphere so nice and welcoming. Plus, sitting by the lake with this beautiful view:) thank you Wire Mill. We will definitely come back!

Today was our first time at the Wiremill Pub. The location was perfect and sunny. The service sucks! First, our starter was served first, no drinks or even water was served. We waited for 15 mins for our drinks which was a lager and non alochol drink which was easy to prepare, still no drinks arrived, we approached 2 waiters for our drinks to be served then after 30mins more! The drinks arrived! 2nd, now 30mins has passed we were wondering where is our meal cheeseburger and fish and chips. We told 3 waiters nothing was happening after 1hour finally the meal was served, the waitress apologized for the mixed up she did not even explained what happened and did not even showed a proper apology, like it was acceptable for us to wait that long, we tried to enjoy our day bec it was a lovely day. I hope the manager or whoever would read this will take action. Your service sucks! Teach your waiters to learn how to communicate and give a proper apology.

To start the service was good! Very lovely Waitress, very personable. The location and pub itself was very pretty. Sadly with the low rafters and beams I banged my head and have a very sizeable lump on my head. To the pubs credit it does have “please mind your head” written on it in white pen so not marking them down for this. Sadly the food really made the visit fall short £32 for one club sandwich, halloumi wrap and 2 coffees. Coffees were lovely and fresh but the halloumi wrap with “leaves and mayo” barely came with either, or the halloumi and was served in a rather stale wrap, the club sandwich was average with more fatty bacon than any meat. Feel like this has some great potential with staff and location but greatly let down by its food.

Very picturesque location next to lake with covered seating area and retractable roof. First visit here since they changed ordering process, so if seated outside you now place order at bar yourself and pay first. Make sure to order everything you want at once otherwise you get charged again for service charge.

We wanted a venue that was by the water for a few drinks and was recommended The Wiremill. As it was onto 30 mins away we decided to try it. On our way over we looked at the reviews which aren’t good. However we was pleasantly surprised, the view over the lake is stunning, the service was great with plenty of staff on hand. We ordered baked Camembert and skinny fries which arrived promptly and was amazing. Our waiter kindly brought our puppy a bowl of water as it was a hot day and we met a lovely family on the next table. We are really looking forward to going back soon.

Not being able to walk into this venue on a Sunday morning, even for a coffee, without a booking is INSANE to me. We arrived this morning after a 30 minute journey as this place was recommended (should we have booked? Perhaps, there were 3 of us but also you would assume a large venue such as this one would be able to accommodate walk in’s) With a significant number of empty tables, we assumed they could be used (some were reserved some were not) but we were met with a server who was absolutely adamant nobody could walk in for breakfast and also specifically, any kind of drink or anything at all. I understand this person was given direction from their leader but honestly, delivery was poor and it was an embarrassing first impression of this venue. If you can’t facilitate walk ins for food on a particularly busy day I would understand but honestly, to be turned away even for a drink is not normal. If the venue was absolutely heaving with queues out the door I could also understand these circumstances but that wasn’t the case either. I won’t be returning here to try, despite the recommendation. I spent my money elsewhere on a beautiful coffee and a delicious breakfast.

We were very impressed with the allergy awareness of the staff and menu. Food was delicious and staff friendly and accommodating. We had lunch at the restaurant only.

Very nice setting, which is the only thing that would entice me back. The service was friendly enough and above average. The food was very average, relative to the above average price point. Annoyingly, we were asked to move from our table after being there for 1.5 hours, as the table had been booked for someone else. A good restaurant would plan better.

Really lovely experience start to finish. We came for a quiet Sunday meal and that’s what was had. Jack was attentive all the way through our experience and accommodating to our requests. The atmosphere of the restaurant was lovely was always and definitely achieved the chilled and easy vibe we were after.

It's a hidden gem! We went there for our anniversary...set by the lake wire mill we really enjoyed ourselves. Food was so tasty and good portion size. Definitely recommend visiting this place. Walk trails nearby.

Good food, great atmosphere and friendly, helpful staff.

I took my mother for lunch and we had a wonderful afternoon. The food was superb, the service faultless and superb value for money. I also thought the service charge was almost over reasonable at 10% as well worth the standard 12.5%. The team were superb. They were a young team but so professional and a credit to the business. Everyone who served us was polite, efficient, friendly and professional. The food was wonderful. We had a 3 course lunch and the ravioli and arancini were delicious, as was the shepherds pie and salmon. The hassleback potatoes were a delicious side and we both enjoyed those. The sticky toffee pudding and sorbet and berries were faultless also. Really enjoyed the wine and liquor coffee finished a wonderful evening experience off perfectly. Must also say the setting on the lake is beautiful. Must be stunning in the summer. Thanks to all the team and we will certainly be back and telling our friends about this hidden gem.

Disappointing. Food just average. The location is great but the place has nothing much more to offer apart from that.

The building and location are great. We went for Sunday lunch. We had a beef roast and a pork roast. The beef roast was good. However the pork roast was very fatty and had very little pork meat on it. This is not what a pork roast should be like at all, and was a real disappointment, as we had driven all the way from Coulsdon to come to the Wiremill for lunch.

Great atmosphere good food and service

We have spent many years celebrating family birthday etc at this pub but unfortunately the last 3 times we visited everything has gone downhill. Over 3 visits they ran out of foods i.e no cream, no beef, no horseradish, many wines not available etc It would be great if the staff could let us know before ordering what food is not available. The food is not of a great standard any more and very overpriced (small spoon of mash, small spoon of red cabbage, smallest pot of gravy ever and a home made pie £17.95) Do not visit after 4pm as you will be disappointed with how many dishes are off the menu - its seems that management are not ordering the correct amount of food Very disappointing and will not be going back Such a shame as we had many a good time at this pub when the food was excellent

Nice , peaceful location on a lake . Food was excellent with a good selection of dishes and beers. Service was good and staff friendly. Would definitely go back , probably in the summer as it will be nice looking out over the lake with a cold beer. Did find it a tad expensive

We had breakfast here, and it was pretty awful. The veggy breakfast sausages were really really overcooked and so was the 'patty', only just edible. The stale toast came dry, we had to ask for butter. In my opinion, whoever cooked the breakfast was not a chef. Hard yolk poached eggs, and breakfast mostly cold. We won't return

Disappointing 😞. Not our usual experience of this place. The bacon was almost entirely fat with no actual meat. The sausages were barely cooked - one had zero browning on it - maybe pre-cooked and just warmed through in the microwave? The sourdough toast was warm but again had no browning on either serving. Just warm, dry bread. One of our coffees was served up in a small (espresso?) cup, was a latte rather than a flat white. We've been before, so know what to expect. One pot of beans was only half full. Admittedly, the restaurant was slightly busier than usual and you could see they were working on getting things ready for their lunchtime guests but it wasn't that busy! We struggled to get the attention of our waitress to bring this up. The glass of water I asked for never appeared. We had to ask another member of staff who was some way off if we could pay, having sat there for fifteen minutes with the bill. God knows why we didn't challenge the service charge on this occasion because it really wasn't deserved.

Sunday roast. Had the turkey roast, everything was tasty perfectly cooked. Dessert was a sticky toffee pudding nice portion size, and the sauce was nice with a treacle flavour, and avoided being too sweet. Service was great and staff were friendly and professional, if I had anything to say, it would be the panelling on the outside, put in during COVID times to serve outside, but for me it takes away the magic of being directly next to the lake like it used to have, as it's now just plastic windows. Overall. Though top marks for food, service and atmosphere in general. 🙃

Good value breakfast but painfully slow. Table booked at 10:45 and ordered within 5 minutes. Drinks took 20 minutes and food arrived after an hour. Frankly not good enough, didn’t even appear short staffed.
