The Wingfield Hotel and Sports Bar in Caerphilly

I booked a Sunday lunch for 4 Adults and 1 child, for Mother’s day. On arrival we were told we had one hour sitting, which was not mentioned when booking. We waited for approximately 35 mins for our food, which only gave us around 25 mins to eat. We were planning on having desserts, but were told that the next party of people were ready for the table, so had to vacate. We were very disappointed by how this was handled. If time is limited to one hour on the table, this needs to be communicated at the time of booking, and meals delivered promptly once ordered. On a positive note the food was very nice, however I would think twice of returning.

Amazing welcome by the Manager ,big smile on her face has we came through the door, what a welcome ,( lovely young lady with blonde in her hair) asked us if she could help in anyway , we didn't know what to choose on the menu has it was a good size menu she went through it with us , service was amazing , food was a good price and high quality , tasted delicious , beer was very reasonable in price , I would highly recommended , and will definitely be coming back and telling my friends how good it is there. Frequently visit the Wingfield for food and drinks and am never disappointed. Customer service is exceptional and all members of staff are so friendly and welcoming. Their Sunday Lunches and mid week roasts are amazing! Highly recommend a visit here, super fast service and a great atmosphere you will not be disappointed!

Visited here with my friend the other day, haven’t been here in sometime. Lovely food and quick service. Garlic bread was lovely and filling, probably the best I’ve had. Great staff too.

Well I have been here a couple of times and I could not say how amazing the staff were. I had my little 2 yr old with and he was made just as welcome as myself. The staff were fantastic, kind friendly talkative, and nothing was a bother. The food was outstanding. And for both I didn’t wait longer than 2 minutes for being served. Congratulations to the staff who displayed an outstanding show of customer service. I will still be coming here in years to come. Special thanks must certainly go the lady in charge (I think was Laura) she was on her own at certain points but she held her own and completely had everything in hand. Some of the younger staff can learn a huge amount from her.

Absolutely fantastic place and lovely food

Really sorry but my last meal here was awful.. My mum and myself had the corned beef pie....Not to be recommended... Optically a right turn off....difficult to find the actual corned beef... I have been here many Times before over the years.....food was always good... Don't know what the problem is... Just hope it improves....

My grandchilds 13th birthday. The food was great, there were 12 of us and all meals came out together can't fault a thing. Thanks to All the staff for making it a good party.

Sunday lunch was shocking. Everyone except me got their food pretty quick. My two boys had cheese burger and chips but the chips weren't nice. I asked for mint sauce about 4 times for my mother and everyone's dinner was missing stuffing and Yorkshires. Eventually got my food but still missing stuffing and Yorkshires and the staff didn't know what to do. Not a good experience and WILL NOT RETURN.

Overall, a solid Sunday Dinner offering a good selection of sizes, meats, veg, and a decent gravy that can always make or break even the best Sunday dinner. The one stand out for me was the mash potato, It was creamy and very tasty. On the other hand, it was missing a crucial part, a Yorkshire pudding! The service was prompt, and the food came quickly. Poor cooked dinner,think most veg was frozen,mash tasted like instant.Mens Toilets could have been cleaner,all in all bad experience. 👎

There were 6 adults and three children. We were asked if we were ready for our main meals to which we replied yes. So they started to bring our food in dribs and drabs leaving the children until last and the food was burnt some was off putting on last night performance would not recommend

A busy pub with tidy rooms. Clean, functional, no fuss. Let them know if you can't do narrow, steep stairs.

Had a nice stay rooms were comfy and equipped well and will definitely stay there again

Stayed at the Wingfield on many occasions, including the Speedway GP weekend in Cardiff. Staff are always polite and smile, like they enjoy working there. The food is excellent and always hot. Thank you Kay for looking after us.

Budget price meals which are very good. They have a variety of meals to choose from but the also do a 'Sunday' on a Wednesday as well. All meals are reasonably priced.

The beer garden lacks quite a bit . Just wooden picnic tables surrounded by a tall wooden fence. BORING! The cheeseburger was quite nice and juicy but could only have red onions if I ordered Halloumi cheese.

Clean, tidy will be back as often as possible

Great value for money & always a friendly welcome

All food was piping hot and came out altogether. There was 9 of us, so quite a large group, but all food was served together. I haven't commented on the rooms as I have never stayed there. I only live up the road.

Delicious food at affordable prices. Large selection of drinks and bar snacks. Staff are friendly. Would recommend booking on a Wednesday as they offer mid-week roasts and it gets very busy!

Had a great mid-week lunch time roast here. Lovely, classic pub, in a beautiful area. Good value, too! £7.50 lunch time deals.

Went for Sunday lunch. Choices were Beef, Chicken, Lamb or Pork with a selection of vegetables. Good service. Friendly and helpful staff. Lovely meal. Reasonable prices. Booking is advisable as busy. Car park is available with wheelchair access to car park, the entrance, seating and toilets. I will visit again. Thank you.

Great hotel modern rooms and very clean the beds are really comfortable as well.

Nice hot food as usual but my mum's fish was bit undercooked on this occasion will mention it if it happens next time other than that couldn't fault it lovely

Vibrant pub, with decent fast food choices

Stayed here for 3 nights and we received a warm welcome from Kay and her staff. Room was very nice and sadly we didn't have time to try the food but we will be back soon. 👍

I'm a support worker and we took out service users here for Sunday lunch Staff were very nice and nothing was to much. Lovely veggie option as well.

Great place, we were visiting friends so didn't have time during our visit to sample and of the food or drink but Kay and her staff were all lovely and our room with the en-suite was tidy, clean and well presented and perfect for our 3 night stay - and also excellent value for money. Didn't stay in room, only went for lunch and drinks. Food was cheap but very nice and decent portions. Nice beer garden, friendly staff and nice inside too

Always a pleasure to stop here. Great people, hearty grub ( a full plate from chef)and a real warm welcome. Rooms are quiet, clean and fresh . Looking forward to coming back here. Highly recommend.

I've stayed in 5 star hotels with worse service. They literally couldn't do any more for you. And the rooms were clean with really comfortable mattresses. We'll be back. Thank you!

Good beer snd very friendly staff

Excellent welcome. Great service Free pool table and free music on a juke box. Local customers made us feel welcome and the food was fantastic! And very reasonably priced. Nice decoration and atmosphere and large beer garden. Will return and reccomend to others! If your going to the circus this week pop into the Wingfield and have some food and support local

Really good value mid week roast dinner at lunchtime on Wednesdays. £5.50 and a choice of chicken, pork, lamb or beef. We got the last table at 11.50am! I will certainly book next time.

I have visited yhe Wingfield many times in the past .but my last occasion was for my Daughters Wake .the staff were more than helpful first class service. The food was well served being hot & cold buffet . I would recommend the Wingfield for any occasion. Just a meal or a wedding party or in my case a Funeral Wake . Regards Eric Bentley.

Great venue lovely staff and A1 food at a bargain price Since finding this gem of a place it has now become our regular place to visit for food, have sampled most of the menu but I have to say it’s the steak pie that is totally amazing and I can highly recommend this to any potential visitors. I haven't been to this place for at least 40 years although its about 5 miles from my home we went there by chance and was plesently surprised the food was of a good quality and prices very good homemade food at the hi level

Fantastic self contained accommodation all on suit food is lush with lots to choose from. Mid week and Sunday roast is a must if love a cooked dinner.

Lovely relaxed place, food and service was excellent. I would highly recommend.

The pie night is worth every penny.
