The Wild Boar in Aberdeen City

The best food I’ve had in a pub for a very very long time. Put it this way I walked in, with some trepidations but the food and service was very very good. Some nice IPA beers too. I was very pleasantly surprised. Should I tell you the name of the place? It’s called The Wild Boar in Belmont Street, just off Union Street. Clean and nice decor, pleasant music levels and friendly knowledgeable staff. Worth going just to look at the ceiling and layout of the building. Go for the small plates options if there are a couple of you as you can get a nice choice and add a fresh salad to it!

It was the first time here with my husband I had the steak pie was amazing best one I've had in a while will defo be back again 😋

We stopped in for dinner on our first night in Aberdeen. Our server was nice enough to take us through the paying and ordering processes used in Scotland, as it is different in Canada. We had the fish and chips and the pie. Guilia and Emily were fantastic.

Good food and great prices. We had exceptional service thanks to Giulia and Emily.

Ye 1st time and really enjoyed it, nice pub good atmosphere and enjoyed the drinks . The only draw back was when the staff left the main door open the pub did become cold and when we asked for it to be shut the staff respond by saying that it had to be left open as it was too warm for the staff to do there job properly so when hearing this we left immediately as I'm certainly not going to sit in a bar cold. Would I visit again unfortunately I'm not sure.

Similar food menu to other Greene King pubs (PoW, Ma's, Blackfriars etc). Loads of seating and a varied bar. The staff are absolutely lovely and great at what they do.

Beautifully appointed bar. Bang in the city centre , along one of the main streets. 10 mins walk from Premier Inn and Ibis hotel. Magnificent ceiling and wall decor. Perfectly chosen furniture in vibrant and modern colours/patterns. Tables for 2,4 and groups. Booths. Cosy downstairs area. Good toilet facilities. Very friendly, helpful and chatty staff members. Great choice of lagers and other alcoholic drinks. Perfectly pored pints. Warm interior encourages you to sit there longer and order more. True gem

Have been here before but this time had our guide dog in training with us and was refused entry. First place in Aberdeen this has been an issue. Guess we won't be back in the future.

Just editing my original post from last week. We did not have a good experience. But can I just say thank you very much to the manager for getting in touch to find out more in detail what our issue was. She very kindly offered for myself and my husband to come back again to get the hospitality they're known for. Got a meal for 2 and couple of drinks this afternoon. Thank you again to our server today and the manager. As I said in the original post the food was lovely and same today. Will be back again.

Was in on the 10th for something to eat with my mum and daughter before seeing spectra. Was very busy and struggled to find a clear table, when we did the server was lovely even though he was run off his feet it looked like he was the only person serving even taking the time to talk to my 4 year old, we ordered our drinks and food at the same time to make it quicker and easier for him. However the food came out before we got our drinks and he had to chase up the drinks. Over all I think the food service was outstanding considering he was the only person delivering food to 2 floors and taking orders but the bar service could have been better managed.

Had a wonderful afternoon here with a friend this week. Very relaxed atmosphere with wonderful staff who were very friendly. The food was great!

Just don't drink the Guinness. It's botched so bad It's fizzy.

Bar staff not paying attention to waiting customers.FAR to much chating and mucking about between themselves.After at least a 5 minute wait to pay my food bill the counter had no one else waiting other than me the waitress eventually asked if I was being served ????? but she still wasn't giving friendly service and continued joking around with another barman.Wont be back

Lovely atmosphere and good food

The pub was still in the Christmas spirit and therefore very cozy! Order at the bar. The guys serving were very friendly but not that fast. Food was fine.

Good pub choices with a few vegan choices. Have previously had the vegan mushroom pie and vegan burger. Both have been tasty and good value for money.

This is now the fourth time I've been here and it's a nice place to stop and chillax while on a shopping trip.The bar staff couldn't have been more friendly and welcoming.The menu has some nice choices on it so much so that we were meant to go somewhere else but we had a lovely comfy seat so decided to stay for tea and we weren't disappointed.Next time your passing by stop in.

Vverr disappointed at the food .portions very sparse .on a Xmas diner .no boiled pot or stuffing .burgers were dry .barbecue .chicken lacked taste.we were at a table at door it was cold the service from staff was good .a table of eight. My friends won't be back again 😕 fishing chips were nice.

Perfect, went for lunch with our baby while out shopping. Staff were excellent especially Leon, Emily and Jen, very attentive and friendly. The only shame was there was no way to leave a tip when paying by card!

This place was daughters choice, Aberdeen not my patch, but great place, service perfect and food was too notch, everything we had. Very well priced. Sorry, nothing negative to add. I'll definitely be back next time in Aberdeen.

Sharer lunch absolutely delicious. Staff very friendly and professional. Atmosphere brilliant. Would definitely recommend.

The food was really good, don't mind paying a wee bit more when you can honestly say ure stuff , the under manager(I think) had a laugh and a joke with us while serving our food. Will definitely be going back when in aberdeen.xx

The service was super nice very friendly staff and owner, even went to the effort to make me a breakfast long after breakfast hours. Certainly for the price of what I paid and what I got I can’t fault this place at all, pop in for a little treat indeed.

Superb food, highly recommend. Ordered the Steak Pie and pulled mushroom chilli, both were fantastic. Perfect Guinness to go with it as well.

Parfait ! Nous avons testé, le poisson pané, le houmous, les nuggets vegetariens et le poulet à la japonaise, ils sont tous excellents. Le constat est le même pour les desserts qui sont succulents. Les serveurs sont très sympathiques et à l'écoute. Le prix, la qualité et la quantité sont au rendez-vous. Je recommande les yeux fermés.

Posto più che discreto, così come discreto è il cibo, un normalissimo locale dove poter cenare tranquillamente. Sarebbe tra 3 stelle ma la quarta a mio parere la merita in quanto è praticamente l’unico posto dove è possibile cenare dopo le 20,30 ad Aberdeen. Ci siamo comunque tornati due volte

I booked a group meal for 40 people here. It’s really fantastic! All staffs are quite passionate and careful. They checked we me and let us preorder. Everyone in our group likes the taste of food here as well as the decoration. Thank you a lot!

There were missing items off the menu however what we had was still very nice indeed. It was table service for drinks also and the waiting staff were very attentive

Nach einer Empfehlung des Hoteliers vom Residence Inn sind wir in das Wild Boar gegangen um etwas zu essen und ein Bier zu trinken. Mein Burger Katsu Chicken Burger war ausgezeichnet aber der Cheeseburger meiner Frau war beim Gleisch leider total verbrannt und nicht geniessbar. Das Ambiente war recht cool und der Preis hat auch gepasst.

Was here on Saturday for lunch with a friend. Upstairs bar staff were really nice. Lady taking the orders (as much as it was very busy) was a bit rude. Asked us what we wanted and walked away before we finished speaking. Then seemed to be annoyed when I politely said we had one more thing into order. When the food came was delicious, only issue was the onion rings we got about 5 between the two of us and they were very small. Other than that was good but don’t think I’d come back for food anytime soon.

Was in on Sunday with friends for lunch, the staff were so pleasant and very attentive. The food was amazing we all had the steak pie and couldn’t fault it one bit. Ty u, great service and great food will definitely be back again soon ☺️

My first restaurant experience in Aberdeen. The varieties of dishes are good and tastes awesome.Highly recommending this place.

Went to have a late lunch with our 17yr old son we had already eaten we were told we all had to have food are we had to leave we couldt even have a mineral while he ate his lunch .there was about 10 tables empty .Still baffled why this was .Staff weren't very nice

Our first visit to the Wild Boar for a couple of months and the standard was right up to the usual level of excellence. Our server was Michalina, who was very friendly and accommodating. Highly recommended.

Excellent food, quality and portions are extremely generous! Staff are Masters in customer service and will go out if their way to accommodate you. On the whole a great experience.

We were quickly served. Place allows for walk ins. Has a selection of food, including vegan and vegetarian options. Waiters are very helpful. The fries are really good as was the burger I ordered. Quite busy place at lunch time, so we had to wait, however the lunch was worth the wait.

The Wild Boar is a very cosy pub with a good range of drinks. The staff are always very friendly, and the quiz is fun. Johnny and Travis make it very engaging.

Went for lunch today, was rather disappointed at the lack of variety on the menus when there used to be greater choice. My first steak pie n chip was lukewarm so the server took it away and gave me another piping hot one. The chicken (basically hunters chicken) dish my daughter couldn’t eat as the cheese sauce was floury and bland and not appetising at all and was just warm. Don’t know what has happened to what was once one of my go to places. Also was barely finished our meal when we were presented with our bill at our table before we even had the chance to ask for it.

This was a great place to go for a meal! Heather and Becca were very friendly, helpful and made my partner and I feel welcome. The food was very tasty and the portion sizes were well worth the price, not to mention that the atmosphere was very pretty. Will be coming here again!

Excellent, friendly service from Heather and Ola. Food cannot be faulted. I had the Katsu chicken burger which was to die for! My friend had the fish and chips which was also excellent; big chunks of white fish in a lovely crispy batter. Will definitely return on my next visit to Aberdeen 😊

Cosy wee pub with warm atmosphere and good pub grub at reasonable pricing. Becca was a kind waitress who made me feel very welcome.

The Wild Boar is our chosen meeting place once a month (for my friend and I). The interior is very homey and relaxed, comforting even. Staff is very welcoming and quick to see to their customers. Food is typical pub food, so not much to say on that. Drinks are not the cheapest, but could be worse! Service is relatively quick and we always leave feeling satisfied. We will definitely be keeping this place as our monthly meet up point!

Perfect Pie and Fab Fish Visited the Wild Boar today after a trip to the shops and it was such a pleasure to relax over a drink and some delicious food. The Steak and Ale pie was crammed full of big chunks of tender steak in a rich, tasty gravy and had a light puff pastry. Accompanied by cabbage, mash and a serving of amazing gravy - it was a real treat. The fish and chips were absolutely delicious amd we will definitely be back soon. The staff, Heather and Ann could not have been more welcoming and friendly. Highly recommended

Greenking drinks and food menus...

Went for a meal and drinks with a friend after work on Friday. The vegan beyond burger was so good. Atmosphere was really nice and the music wasn't too loud that we couldn't hear each other. Spent 7 hours there and the staff all said bye to us at closing! My first time there and will definitely go back!

Excellent service from very friendly staff. Great pub food and good selection of beers and wines in a unique building. Very central. Some of the furniture looks a bit tired.

Had a meal in The Wild Boar for the first time tonight, fab decor great choice of drinks and food, but for me the chap that served us is what made it. Vadim was his name very professional and very attentive to us. Would definitely come back and 100% recommend the Wild Boar 5/5 from me :-)

Could be happy to give 5 stars...Staff was absolutely lovely, helpful and friendly(thank you), place is comfy and clean, great food, big portions. But.. one of the visitors with a short old fashion haircut(might be the owner might be the owner's friend) made a phone call from the bar phone just at the table I was sitting at and waiting for my family and described me as a "Russian who looks like gipsy" in the phone conversation just making an assumption on my accent... Sad...

We had a great meal here at the weekend - the big fish is massive! Thanks to Heather for such good service, much appreciated!

Milan and Michaeline were brilliant, looked after us all night and remembered our order every time

Fantastic meal, had the chicken katsu burger and it was delicious. Servers Milan and Michalina were super friendly, good craic and added a bit of extra fun to the evening. I've been here a few times but this was a standout performance.

The hunters chicken toastie was amazing, staff friendly and cheap drinks for city centre. Can't go wrong cheers
