Black Dog in Aberdeen City

We had a fantastic family lunch at Black Dog last week! The restaurant is located on the Bridge of Don in Aberdeen, the food was delicious, and the service was excellent. I had the chicken tikka masala with nan bread and rice 🍚, and it was one of the best Indian meals I've ever had. My kids ordered chicken burgers 🍔 and nuggets, and they were equally impressed. If you're looking for a great place to eat in Aberdeen, I highly recommend Black Dog!

A nice local pub with good restaurant and great staff. DO NOT BOOK THROUGH THE WEBSITE. Call as they're part of a chain and the website does not support the Aberdeen pub. Found that out but thankfully the staff assisted, we still got a meal and dessert!

Regulars is fine but noticed a lot of newcomers and a bar not to far away closed and daunting for bar staff more now than was. Bar staff all brill. Especially ma favourite one. She works hard and plays hard yes you sunshine. And people rave about the meals.thanks staff

Another great night at the Black Dog. We are a group of 16 who go every month. The chef has his work cut out for him, cooking for us and the other customers. Only thing that let him down was the mashed tatties. Rest of the meals were terrific . Service was good, we kept Cameron very busy and he was friendly and polite as always with a sense of humour. Nice easy place for a meal with the family

Lovely place to watch football with beer. Very kind staffs and a number of large screens. There are pool table, darts, and some playing machines. One thing you might need to keep in your mind - the kitchen’s last order for foods is 7:45pm, so be there earlier than that if you would like to bite some chips.

Had a great time, food was really nice! My partner had the ‘best pub burger he’s ever had’ our server was really nice too!

Update- 2nd visit of the year, this time with family, 5 adults and 2 kids. Staff, as always, can't do enough, friendly, and helpful. Chip shop platter and katsu chicken were good, also 3 adults shared the mini plates. We also had a dessert each. All good, no complaints and good service as always. Good value. Good kids menu also, and the jigsaws kept them entertained.

This is my local pub in Bridge of Don. The staff are really friendly and it has a good atmosphere. I had food and it was excellent. I recommend the wings with Sriracha sauce and the Chicken and Chorizo croquettes

Always had a fantastic meal at the Black Dog with all the staff having great customer service who go above and beyond with food and drink recommendations and with the table service in the lounge it means we just get to sit and relax while visiting. The new MiXR app they have is so rewarding as well and will soon be able to have a free meal and drinks with the points I’ve been getting. Best pub in Bridge of Don by far.

Was hungover and me and my pal were hank. We randomly chose here for some scran as we were passing and had heard good things. We ate in the lounge Staff were really friendly and made us feel welcome. We had the mixed grill and the bacon cheese burger both were piping hot and cooked well. Cheers guys 👌

My grannie, granda and myself came in around 5pm(ish) into the lounge and we were greeted by Rob (I think his name was). Rob was excellent - very friendly, chatty and attentive! We all ordered the fish and chip shop platter. This came with a whole fish, a battered sausage, garden peas or mushy peas, curry sauce in a jug on the side and chips. All three plates were cleared! Thank you again Rob, amazing service!

I was up from Batley in Yorkshire for the weekend to visit my family here in Aberdeen and the Black Dog was recommended as an ideal place for us all to get together for Sunday lunch and it did not disappoint, Id like to thank Ewan and bar staff for their excellent service also the chef who catered for 16 of us, we found the meals to be excellent both in proportion and in taste, this was my first visit to the Black Dog and hope to return again on my next visit to the lovely city of Aberdeen.

We had a lovely very reasonably priced meal, with free drinks included at the Black Dog. Rob was extremely welcoming and helpful, as all the staff have always been when we've visited. The food is always lovely. Two of our group have mobility issues, one in a wheelchair. Easy wheelchair access and disabled facilities.

I recently visited The Black Dog for the first time as the food had been recommended to me by friends, and it didn't disapoint. I'm vegetarian and there was so much for me to choose from. The service was fantastic especially from Rob who made it feel like such a welcoming place. Me and my friends will be back again soon!

A regular haunt for good value grub and drinks from friendly staff in a pleasant lounge bar. Not a luxury place, but doesn't pretend to be. We'll keep going back, knowing full well the value we'll get for our money 👍

The Black Dog is a cracking local pub in Aberdeen. The warm welcome from a super friendly team made the visit even more enjoyable, Rob and Kat really looked after us. The food was fantastic and very reasonably priced. There is a great selection of drinks and looks like they have live music at the weekends. Great pub and can’t wait to visit again.

Exactement l'endroit parfait pour manger un bon hamburger ou du poulet. Ambiance très sympa et personnel accueillant et très agréable. Grand parking gratuit juste devant l'établissement. Possibilité de jouer au billard et aux fléchettes. À recommander !

We had a great family meal at The Black Dog tonight. It has a small dining area with a cosy atmosphere. The food was all very good and very tasty. We had three mains, three drinks and two desserts all for less than £30! But don't let the price put u off. The food is really very good. Staff were all lovely and helpful. We will be back 😊

Visited with friends for lunch. There were 7 of us. Hadn't been there for ages. Lots of choices on the menu. We all really enjoyed our meal. The waitress who served us was excellent. Friendly and helpful and clearly enjoyed what she was doing. We are planning to return in October and are considering booking a pre Christmas Lunch in December.

Clean, friendly atmosphere and child friendly environment. Family zone and an adult section for the bar. Cheap and good quality and happy with the service.

Comida fantástica Encantador comedor separado del bar público. La señora detrás del bar fue una alegría absoluta. Ella incluso tuvo la broma con mi marido que estaba bromeando sobre no pastel de queso. Sin duda volveremos en nuestra próxima visita y sin duda lo recomiendo.

Teníamos mi pescado favorito con un (tattie al horno), quería estar saludable. . . . y los guisantes. . . 2 comidas encantadoras por poco más de diez. . . Si te gusta la cocina de 5 estrellas, este no es el lugar para ti, pero si quieres comida decente de pub a muy buen precio, este es el lugar para venir. 2 cursos para 8. 50 o 9. Los postres 50 y BOGOF nos hacen regresar una y otra vez. El personal del bar es extremadamente amable y acogedor.

Went here on Sunday afternoon as it close to where we were staying, typical chain pub offerings on the menu, food was surprisingly good and not expensive,after eating we went through to bar to watch the football, great pints off tenants and a friendly atmosphere.

Excellent value! You could describe the place as cheap and cheerful as it is both of those things - but it has the added bonus of excellent customer service and genuine value fir money.

Great food at really affordable prices, nice surroundings highly recommended, a very good menu, great staff and service I have been a few times.

10 minutes walk from the Conference Centre. A real find although recommended by the Holiday Inn Express staff. Nice and relaxed, friendly and helpful staff, good food and then a two for one offer as a surprise addition. Nice.😁

We held our volunteer 'Thank You' Lunch at the Black Dog yesterday and what a fabulous day it was. The food was first class and so reasonably priced, the service was efficient and friendly, the staff were just so obliging and couldn't do enough to make this such a huge success. A massive big thank you to Sharon and the rest of the staff for making all our volunteers feel so special.

Had lunch here with the family on a Saturday and it was very pleasant. Great location with plenty parking. I had the sweet chilli chicken sub and it was great. Kids portions are quite big but they loved it.

My husband and myself had dinner with a couple of cousins and it was fab. We had mains and 2 of us had desserts. We then went through to the bar and never left till 11.30pm. Staff were friendly and attentive.

Hace poco visitamos el perro negro con un grupo muy grande de adultos y niños (escuadrón de gimnasio! ) así que nos llevó al restaurante! Todo el personal era muy amable y paciente y sirve las comidas muy rápidamente. Nos pre-ordenados por el tamaño de nuestro grupo y les dieron todo bien! Gran relación calidad-precio en la comida y todo estaba delicioso, especialmente el enorme postres! El chef salió personalmente, lo que fue un toque agradable. Recomiendo encarecidamente este pub, una decoración preciosa también!

Tuvimos un almuerzo aquí recientemente y fue una muy buena relación calidad-precio. Ofertas diarias incluyen una bebida con la comida y por el precio no te puedes equivocar. El salón y loos han sido renovadas recientemente y son frescas y limpias. El servicio también es buena. Lo recomiendo para un almuerzo barato y alegre.

It's standard pub grub done reasonably well and it is super cheap so really can't fault it. I had hunters chicken which was perhaps not the biggest portion but tasty and hubby had a cheese and bacon burger - also deemed nice. Drinks very reasonable and lounge was not overly busy but had a nice chilled atmosphere - although perhaps one or two many Halloween decorations. Only confusion was the wine list - didn't have the wines on the lists on the tables as running down wines from previous list, subsequently no sparkling wine at all only champagne. Surely if you have run out of the old sparkling wine you would get the new stuff in? Overall would return good value for money for a quick dinner.

The Black Dog has recently been refurbished. We have been there many times and it has always been good.. We were spoilt for choice with the menu. There was something for everyone. The prices were so reasonable. The food came out piping hot and DELICIOUS. The staff were friendly and attentive. The new decor stands well with the type of building it is. I loved my experience at the Black Dog. Would highly recommend.

Recently re-furbished "local pub" serves couthy meals and operates a separate lounge area from the public bar which can be a bit noisy. Good choice on the menu and wines are very reasonably priced.

We've eaten at the Black Dog on and off over the years but recently the food and menu has taken a very nice leap from decent to very good pubgrub. In our last visit we attempted the 'choose your items' plank. There are different options and we chose the prawns, ribs, fish goujons, southern fried chicken and filled skins - ahh fabulous. They all came nicely presented in cast iron bowls on a long plank, complete with different dips. To accompany this feast we had a delicious cheeky wee rosy wine and a beer. Perfect! All very good prices, comfortable surroundings and always friendly staff.

Wow such great deals and choices and huge servings at really low prices, and a buy one get one free on dessert. The place needs to be updated furniture wise but cannot fault the service or the food.

Altough lots of options to choose from the menu, most are deep fried. Lets say its at most a good fast food joint. Uninviting interior. And the very annoying "is everything alright?" from the employees.

Go to the black dog quite often for lunch when working. It's very cheap and the way pubs used to be. A little run down but a good bar, with friendly staff and cheap menu and pints.

If you're looking for a very cheap meal then you'll find it here. The food isn't bad but the place is in desperate need of some TLC. There's a good selection on the menu and it's very reasonable for a bottle of wine or a beer. If you don't mind the shabby surroundings then you'll be okay.
