Great Bar Meals, Recommended any time. Good range of Beers Wines Ect.

Nice place with a friendly relaxed atmosphere and good service. Beware the stairs though if you have mobility issues, not user friendly. Food was a little disappointing with cheap skinny french fries and an oddly sweet curry. A quiet haven if the other bars are too busy.

This a lovely place close to Aberdeen City Centre. The welcome, service and atmosphere was excellent and the food was superb. We will certainly come back to the Howff.

It was a quiet late January Wednesday evening, good music, good service.

We like it but someone serving at the bar was less than helpful telling us not to look for a table because they are booked even though we hadn't ask for one.???

Good old fashioned home cooked food! Mince 'n' Skirlie takes a bit of beating.

Has lunch here yesterday lovely staff and meals only ruined by the place being so cold had to eat with jacket on very uncomfortable..won't be going back till they out some heating on it is winter

The young lads who work waiting are fantastic. We came in on a rainy day, and we were well looked after.

We've drunk here on many occasions, but this was the first time we've had food. It was very good. The staff were very attentive although the time we went it was very quiet.

Cracking pub for a few beers with friends and some good grub.

Sunday roast was sold out (~12:30pm) so must be popular. The haddock and chips was great. Excellent staff and really nice chilled atmosphere for a Sunday afternoon.

What can you say it's great! It's underground but not claustrophobic great atmosphere the staff are quick to serve with a friendly smile even when there busy , food wise they have something for everybody very tasty too.

Absolutely SHOCKING service such a rude barman and his attitude was awful. Will never be back. Terrible avoid as there are plenty nearby who would be much better. Clearly annoyed at the fact he couldn't close the bar earlier due to our appearance.

What a lovely place to go to.The service was excellent the staff were so helpful and very friendly and welcoming.The meal was beautiful we thoroughly enjoyed it.What a plateful and good value too.Will certainly go back again and this time I will make sure I have change to leave a proper tip.Felt really bad as I just had £1 change in my pocket.Will make it a better tip next time.Thank you all for such a lovely pleasant experience.We both really enjoyed the afternoon in your lovely restaurant.Thank you and we will definately be back.

Manager is not a good person. Pretty sure he either has a serious personality disorder! The bar staff were lovely and trying their hardest but the way our group saw him speaking to his staff was appalling. He is a bully and what does he even do?! He flounced around looking like Lawrence Lewellyn Bowen doing feck all! I suggest patrons and staff alike boycott him and his establishment!

The bar staff are amazing!! but the manager clearly has anger management issues and has no customer service skills. he was completely rude and disrespectful. I feel sorry for his staff.

Hadn't been back here for seven years, and was really happy to find the food just as good as last time. The menu is really nice and there's smaller options like toasties and baked potatoes if you're not too hungry. Lots of vegetarian and vegan options available too. I had the veggie chilli with half chips and rice and my husband had scampi and chips. Both were 10 out of 10. Good value for money as the portions were large, the staff were nice and it's lovely inside. Will be back soon!

POOR ATTENTION Have been to the Howff on many occasions and has great service but certainly not tonight 2nd May. Went in after 6 with only two people in siting at the bar which the small barmaid was engaged talking to one of them.I should have thanked him because he had to bring it to her attention had been waiting to be served.Ordered meal which was excellent but unfortunately some of my curry sauce and rice fell onto table,. The barmaid came to uplift the plates and to my surprise never asked if we wanted more drinks even though my pint was virtually finished and before I could ask for another she was off like a rabbit.Coming back with our sweets she must have seen the area in the table in front of me was needing wiped as she put my sweet directly to my right and again off like a rabbit and not asking if more drinks were needed.I will be back but obviously not because of the is barmaids service

Great time.Hadn't been in for at least 20 year!!

We have literally just been. The website says they are open from 12 and the door was open. We entered and were met by a bartender that just kept looking at us with a very much terrified expression and did not engage. A male has then came from the kitchen area immediately telling us off that they are open from 12:30pm and we shouldn’t be here. Change your hours on the website please.

Lovely comfy cellar bar. Very atmospheric. Good selection of beers and spirits. The food is quite simply gorgeous. Home made soup and chips. All freshly made and reasonably priced. The staff were friendly and when serving food were attentive without being intrusive. None of this asking how your meal is when you've got a mouth full and can only nod and make noises. All in well worth a visit.

Popped in here for a bite to eat last weekend. Fantastic service and food was excellent. I cant think of a bar in Aberdeen where the service is so good during a busy lunch time. Definitely will be back.

Lovely, nice big portions ,but a bit disorganized

We have always been fond of this bar and on a recent rare night in Aberdeen city centre this is the place we chose to spend our evening. The staff couldn't be more friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is cosy and comfortable and the menu is full of the most delicious comfort food. That is just what we were after. We chose fish and chips and steak and ale pie, both delicious paired with a lovely bottle of red wine which we allowed the staff to choose for us. A couple of beers and a gin and tonic later we were ready for our bus home. Luckily for us the bus stop is directly opposite the door to the bar. We will hopefully be back soon.

The daytime waitress "Amy" was fantastic. She was very friendly and on her game. The curry we both had was very tasty! Amy went so far as to tell us about the upcoming Christmas event as well. Many thanks from Fiona and John visiting from Canada. We'll be back for sure.

Always enjoy coming here, the portions are very generous and always struggle what to pick because every food option sounds delicious! Staff are friendly too and the atmosphere is nice for a chat with friends and family as there is no deafeningly loud music playing. An ace place to go for lunch or dinner :)

Went in quite late on a Tuesday, more staff than customers and place smelt of dirty cooking fat!!! 1 drink and left

Visiting Aberdeen for a few days ,we googled pubs serving food close to out hotel ...and The Howff popped up .The reviews were positive and the menu looked good so we decided to give it a go and were not disappointed . Staff were very welcoming ,friendly and attentive . Food was very good . We opted for a steak baguette with caramelised onions ,fries &salad and also a fish pie with came with a side of fries and mixed veg . Both really nice . There are also daily specials as well as the printed menu and it's worth noting this bar employs a chef to cook the meals ...it's not your usual pre packaged ,heated up stuff During our stay in Aberdeen we also came back to this bar just for drinks . Would highly recommend either for drinks or for pub meals .

What you would want in a pub — a reasonable selection of beers I. A nice setting. Reasonably priced.

Quite quiet on A Thursday night but despite having heard some negative reports on the food since reopening our meals were excellent and good value. Special mention to both members of staff who were excellent.

Went there with a friend Saturday afternoon. The food is amazing, As well as the menu they have daily specials. I had meatballs marinara as a starter it was excellent. My friend had popcorn shrimp from the menu for a starter and it was so tasty and the portion size was huge. The main meals were fab too. It says classic pub grub but it goes over and above this the quality if superb. The waitress was really nice. Will definitely be going back.

Had late lunch here & was very impressed with the food & service. I had a starter of loaded nachos which was plentiful & tasty, & certainly ample for a main course. My companions enjoyed their meals too, & actually took away a good portion of prawn poppers -- or whatever they were called -- as a takeaway. Staff were very helpful & courteous. Will definitely be going again.

Food here usually vg. But since it has changed hands the menu not as good as before. Had the mac cheese not as good as it used to be.Lacked cheese on the top and when it did come wasnt piping hot like it should have been.

Been to the Howff many times for lunch. Food is always nice and the service excellent. Tried a lot of items on the menu and would definitely recommend the steak and ale pie or the mince and tatties.

Can't find anything to criticise about my recent visit. It has been nicely redecorated, the staff are very nice, toilets nice and clean, and although we didn't eat, the food coming through from the kitchen looked very nice indeed. Yes, well recommended.

Aberdeen's best pub grub. I was quite impressed when I went for a birthday supper with my family. The portion sizes are excellent, the pricing are reasonable, and the service was outstanding. I had a great experience and will hopefully return again soon!

The man on entry was one of the rudest men I have ever met , his attitude stinks , was talking to me and my friend as if we where a peice of dirt on his shoe , we ended up walking out because of his arrogance. I strongly recommend changing this member of staff hes a late 60s with grey hair . And if hes the owner , i feel sorry for his staff I will never be back How these people work with customers is beyond me. I pray for this man , he has a real chip on his shoulder

Varied menu, good value, food excellent and good service in a relaxed atmosphere. Enjoyed so much we came back a 2nd night. Highly recommended.

Can't believe it's been two years since I previously was here. Time flies. In Aberdeen and needed some food so popped into The Howff. Again, fantastic food and friendly, attentive staff. I had chicken fillets, chips, salad etc. and my companion who's a macaroni officionado, gave hers 10 out of 10. Best she'd had in a long time. Very reasonable prices. Wish I was in Aberdeen more often. Can't fault this place, pub grub at it's very finest.

I'm in the Howff as I write. I've been buying disappointing chilli burgers for 30 years. This breaks the trend. The best one I've had in all that time and the best ever in the UK. I dare say there are finer examples out there, but I haven't found one.

Came here for a meal the other weekend. The place was hoaching as it was a Saturday night. The food was really fine. They have a good selection of beer. I would describe the food as "pub grub". I would definitely recommend this place to others.

Food excellent. Only sell procceco by the bottle,£27 very expensive.

Cosy pub, great service, lovely food, superb value......what else do you want. Looking forward to next visit. Had scotch egg. Dont know how chef makes it(think with white pudding) but it was delicious. Fav pub in Aberdeen.

Great pub, good atmosphere and nice vibe. A little small so always crowded and hard to get to the bar. Great place overall.

Meeting up with a group of friends for food and a few drinks, we found the fairly modest door and descended the steep staircase to this underground venue. Downstairs it felt reasonably roomy, but people with claustrophobia might not be thrilled. The lighting is also quite subdued. There are various small corners where a couple of tables are set up so we could get an area for ourselves. The food was basic, which is not a criticism. I like good old-fashioned dishes like my mother used to make. I had the fish pie and it was very acceptable. Other people also seemed to be content with their choices. It's a decent place to go for a straightforward meal.

This is a very friendly and comfortable bar. It has a great selection of whisky and I often finish off with a dram here after a night out in Aberdeen.

My sister took me here for lunch as she'd been before and highly recommended it. Friendly, helpful staff. Didn't have long to wait for our order. I had the steak baguette and fries which was fantastic. Generous portion. Sister loved her green pea and bacon soup. Very reasonable prices. I will definitely be back.

Working as a carer from fife this was an adventure day in Aberdeen. After a long bus journey lunch beckoned. The howff was an accident location but oh so lucky for us. Staff, Prices location all excellent and the quality of food - superb. Would highly recommend and will be back

Bajamos las escaleras para vernos completamente sorprendidos por el lugar, aunque podrían hacerlo con bombillas de mayor potencia, me alegro de tener mi antorcha telefónica conmigo: -). El personal fue rápido en el sorteo para satisfacer nuestras necesidades y nos dirigieron a una mesa en poco tiempo. Menú examinado y ordenado, la comida llegó en poco tiempo y ¡GUAU! - Los macoroni eran para morirse, mejor que nunca y los gougahns de pollo con papas fritas, saled y salsa BBQ excelente. Sí, super comida a precios razonables.

Went out for a meal and ended up in The Howff afterwards. Perfect end to the evening. Bar staff all happy and helpful, bar well stocked and clean.

Value for money every time. Food very good

Every time we go into Aberdeen this is always one of our go to places, food is simple but very enjoyable, the choice of drinks is excellent, as are the bar staff as well as being easy going and very personable. The music is at a level that you can easily have a conversation It is in an accessible location and it also helps that our bus stop is just outside.

Worth a visit just to see the classical ceiling.
