The Whitehall in City of London, Westminster

We went here as we likes the look of the extensive menu. The food was actually quite tasty but it's all a bit overpriced, especially the wine. The service was very poor and it did not appear to be that busy. When the food arrived the fries were cold and we had to send them back but at least they came back fairly quickly so we could still enjoy them with our meal. My wife's salad was also missed the olives that were stated on the menu. The staff need better training. The waitress seemed to have no idea how to open a wine bottle and when she poured there was no tasting, male first and a very full glass of rose. I had to tell her to stop as I didn't want my wine sitting in a warm glass when there was a perfectly good ice bucket for it to remain chilled in. All in all a very disappointing meal and we won't be back.

Looks lovely on the outside but food and service was TERRIBLE! The staff couldn’t be bothered to greet anyone as they entered, some people got bread, some didn’t, had to ask to order our food and beg to pay cos the staff just didn’t care. Food wasn’t as described on the menu ( I ordered seafood salad, my husband ordered seafood pasta….both appeared with the same HOT seafood bisque type dish with over cooked prawns …with the exception that mine had lettuce on the side (which made it a ‘salad’ presumably). Guy on the table next to us got given a cold, uncooked calzone. Then waited half an hour to have it returned, still uncooked 😂. Just awful, can’t believe they’re in business….maybe we came on a bad day or we were just unlucky?!

Rude staff. Had to wait to be seated while there were lots of tables available. Once seated nobody came to ask is what we wanted. They were laying the tables around us. Even after 10 minutes they hadn’t come. We stood up to leave and they watched us go, no questions asked.

Avoid. Overpriced inedible food. Seasonal “pumpkin” gnocchi was inedible. Pumpkin not cooked. A tourist trap. Bling without authenticity. Awful. Sad as people think this is London food. And no one even noticed the u eaten food. Terrible setvice.

Beautiful experience with excellent food and presentation. Coffee selection is excellent. Very close to Trafalgar Square.

We had Afternoon Tea. We found the sandwiches lovely and fresh. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. I will definitely recommend!!

Worst experience in any restaurant in any country so far and I have been many. Staff is rude as hell , I walked out of the place.

I met up with a colleague here before a business meeting. I got there early and found a table near an electrical outlet. While waiting for my colleague to show up, I had a mint tea and pain au chocolat. The tea and pastry were both good. The ambiance is very much like a Parisian Cafe. This is a nice place to have a coffee under any circumstance.

Poor quality food. Smokey outside tables. Ordered full English breakfast. Hash brown and eggs were cold. Sausage had been cooked some time and was barely warm. This meal was returned and deducted from the bill. We originally sat on one of the few tables outside until the staff (in a suit,manager?) Brought the neighbouring table an ashtray so the person could smoke amongst diners. We then moved inside. He said it was company policy to provide ashtrays. It's an eating area in a place that charges £15.95 (+12.5% sc!) For a panini. Should be able to sit smoke free.

I turned up at Caffe Concerto at 0750 to meet customers for breakfast. When I entered I was rudely told they were not open. I showed the rude member of staff the times on the website and he said the times were for staff. I asked if I could take a seat and have a coffee while I waited to 0800, which was now only 5 minutes away. He said no. Dreadful customer service from a very rude member of staff. I won’t be going back.

5 star afternoon tea with great service from all the staff Fantastic customer service from Carmen. Very polite and professional. Possibly the best customer service I have ever received. Tasty treats and tea. Highly recommend this Whitehall branch. We will be returning.

on entrance its so grand, it appears to be quite "posh" but its just a wonderful environment to enjoy great food and cake! we had an afternoon tea for two. The food was delicious. so well presented and appetising . we had some lovely strong tea. option to have two pots of tea or have a pot of tea and pot with hot water to dilute etc. the cakes are very well presented and look delicious! id love to try them all! Assistant manager could not be more helpful, kind and approachable. We had a nice little chat about the caffe and her role. We spoke about the food options and why we travelled so far for a nice treat with them. We felt really at ease. there are a couple of new members of staff that obviously have no experience and quite young so can be a little irritating dropping cutlery, shouting across the room, dismissive attitude, not much customer service going on etc but hopefully these people will learn on the job and soon be super staff members just like the assistant managers techniques! we will be visiting again!

Our visit was lovely they accommodated me with my funny food needs and got the chef to make me something nice thankyou the only thing you needed more sandwiches else it would be five star

Will definitely NOT recommend this place. It was evident that they were short staffed. 2.5 staff serving.Took an age to order. Starters arrived. Underneath the mountain of cress there was hard breaded mozzarella sticks, crunchy “breaded” prawns, stone cold arancini. Sent it back and cancelled the starter order. My mains calzone pizza was minus any tomato sauce and my wife’s seafood salad was unimaginative and tasteless. Again an abundance of cress, mango still in the skin and what seemed poor quality smoked salmon. Rejected these and asked for the bill for the wine that we had. The lady apologised and stated that the chef is normally very good and that he had been working on his own since 7.30 in the morning (it was now 12.45). She seemed a little put out when I suggested that if he was on his own then they should reduce the amount of covers rather than fill the restaurant.Very very poor

Cafe concerto is also know as a champagne house, but when I ordered a gloss of Moët, the waiter brought a glass of Merlot, I explained that it was not what I ordered and he took it away and told me that didn’t sell champagne and “all the bottles on show, were all display empty bottles only” I had booked a table for 7, and on arrival they did not have my booking, but carmen did seat us, and my family had a great meal, disappointing that champagne was not available, I find it very frustrating having things on a menu, when not on offer, but more disappointing was I was charged the £5.95 for the Merlot that I didn’t order.

The restaurant looks tired and a bit decrepit. The food was no better than average. The teapots were tiny meaning you only get a small drink. The waiter was very dismissive; no interaction at all - very mechanical. Not at all welcoming.

If you ever decide to organise an afternoon tea to chill out or to celebrate something or someone, Caffe Concerto Whitehall London is the place to do that.We organised a Hen Do afternoon tea for our little sister in that particular Caffe Concerto. We bought the deals through Groupon, about £30 for an afternoon tea for 2 with a glass of Prosecco each.Everything went smoothly, the staff was ever so helpful and really looked after us. We were allocated the back room as we were a party of 10 people. The decorations look amazing, the place is clean, the chandeliers are so elegant, they make the lighting in the room very warm.A week before the big day, we went there to book the venue, the manager Christina was so helpful, and very friendly. She made everything very easy for us and booked the back room for us. An email confirmation was then sent to me. On the day, we presented our Groupon vouchers, which were easily scanned by a very friendly waitress, and the celebration started. The bride to be was really surprised, which was our aim. The hot drinks came first then the glasses of Prosecco. The staff was always keeping an eye on our party making sure that everything was going well. The cakes and sandwiches were beautiful presented, looking very fresh and so appetising, we couldn’t keep our eyes off them.Everything was so tasty and we all thoroughly enjoyed the moment. At the end, we could take away the left overs in beautiful Caffe Concerto boxes, that were brought to us. We will definitely organise more afternoon teas there, it’s really worth it.

First visit to a restaurant since Lockdown. A really big deal using public transport to get there . First impression great . Lovely warm welcome . Seated quickly not many other customers. Such a lovely setting . Comprehensive menu . I had Gnocci my friend had a generous salad . Well presented . The Best cup of English Tea. Great waiter . It was only later that we realised that we had not been encouraged to use the NHS app for track and trace . Delighted with our choice . I’ll be back

Had a wonderful afternoon tea with my wife and 7 year old daughter. Food was delicious and the staff even better, especially Carmen at the front desk. Lovely hot chocolate and latte washed down with prosecco. Highly recommended

Frito misto to share and montepulciano absolutely delicious. Great service. Mushroom rissotto deep fried ball and calamari yummy. Pistashio frosted cake to finish lovely!

Lovely food and atmosphere. Was great to see there was halal food however be careful as they do sell pork products which is listed on their menu (sausages,ham etc). Normally a halal place doesn’t pork. We were assured that halal and non halal were cooked separately. I would definitely visit again as staff were friendly and they made sure we were comfortable with our food

Definitely would recommend!Food was great - we had bolognese and risotto respectively, with Black Forest gateau and strawberry tart for dessert. The dessert in particular was amazing.The atmosphere and decor of the restaurant is beautiful and makes for a great experience, especially for a special occasion like ours (in my case, a family visit down to London).We were served by Enea who was so friendly and helpful and made the experience a 10/10! Definitely recommend!

Popped in here for a quick refreshment stop on a recent trip to London. Ended up getting a ringside seat for the pro Palestinian march that went past. It took over an hour, but the staff were great and the food and drinks very nice.

Lunch with my mother was made special by the wonderful personal service, lovely lunch and delicious sweet treat after a gorgeous walk around St James' Park.It is the perfect place to visit and eat in wonderful surroundings. It always feels a bit special here and its location at the top of Whitehall/Trafalgar Square is pefect to combine with a visit of some of Londons finest landmarks. The Spaghetti Bolognese with generous helpings of parmesan cheese was delicious, hot and very filling and was on a lunch special that they have. The tables are nicely spaced apart and a section had a plastic divider between tables and we felt Covid protected without really noticing. The sound of popping corks and the truly wonderful service makes this a win for me and i'm a Londoner!! Relax and enjoy.

Despite being on Whitehall this is not a tourist trap. The vegan pesto pasta was delicious, great portions, gorgeous decoration and the staff are lovely. Recommend for both lunch and dinner.

I've been coming here over several years now and have recommended it to friends. I love the decor and staff are welcoming and friendly. The food and desserts are usually good and well presented. They also do Afternoon teas. My daughter and myself enjoyed our lunch today. Fish n Chips and Spaghetti Bolognese. I love their hot chocolate too.

We popped in here this morning for a drink and cake with our grandchildren. The service was excellent and food delicious, especially the chocolate gateau and macaroons. The decor is beautiful and makes the whole visit feel extra special.

We called in on Thursday and were delighted by the helpful and thoughtful service and delicious food: excellent salmon nicoise salad and gnocchi with voluptuous cheese and truffle. Superb coffee and delectable macarons. Will definitely return when next in London.

Stopped for a drink and a cake on a walk round London. Looked a very nice menu. What we had was lovely and the service was excellent. Sat outside which was nice and cannot fault the place.

Todo estuvo bien, pero el servicio fue muy lento. Solo había dos servidores en el piso con varias mesas, lo que claramente era un problema. El ambiente y la configuración general eran hermosos, pero los baños estaban sucios, lo cual fue decepcionante dada la pandemia de COVID. He comido en otras sucursales, por lo que no lo descartaría por completo, pero podría hacerlo mejor.

Durante las últimas semanas hemos visitado Londres dos veces y visitamos la sucursal de Whitehall todas las mañanas para desayunar. La comida es deliciosa y el inglés completo es suficiente con el control correcto de las porciones. El personal es amable y acogedor y nos recordaron de nuestra última visita a principios de julio. El domingo 26 tuve la tortilla con jamón y queso con champiñones extra para agregar. Muy sabroso y abundante. Recomiendo encarecidamente este Caffe. Gracias por ser tan acogedor.

Reservado para una familia de 4 personas para el almuerzo del domingo y el té de la tarde. Recibimos una cálida bienvenida de Vesna y nos sentamos en una mesa de nuestra elección. La comida era muy buena y el vino realmente maravilloso. Dos de nosotros tomamos té y pasteles en lugar del almuerzo y el té de desayuno inglés se sirvió al estilo tradicional inglés y los pasteles estaban deliciosos.El restaurante estaba muy limpio, el ambiente era tranquilo ya que el restaurante acababa de reabrir después del cierre de la pandemia. El servicio fue atento y recibimos nuestro té y almuerzo dentro de un tiempo razonable de tomar nuestro pedido.Mención especial para Vesna Filomena y Vincenzo que nos atendieron con una sonrisa y una actitud acogedora que fue muy apreciada por todos nosotros. Very nice place for afternoon tea. Wonderful surroundings, bright and clean. Pleasant staff, well presented food. HOWEVER, 12.5% service charge is just a little too much...!!! This should be made more prominent on the menu...!

We dropped in here for lunch on the spur of the moment, because we were hungry and we liked the look of the place - especially the cakes in the window! It was very quiet and we had no trouble getting a table.Service was leisurely, but we weren't in a hurry and wanted time to chat over a nice glass of wine. My wife had an excellent house pizza with fig, beetroot and goats cheese, and I had a very generous portion of lobster and fries. Both were fresh and very tasty. They were also so filling that we didn't really have room for any of the aforementioned cakes, which was a shame.The restaurant looks very classy, and well kept. The toilets were clean and fresh, and the whole place had an air of quality. Light music is played at a level that you can hear but without making conversation difficult. It's pricy, but not unusually so for a place in the heart of London.

Six of us decided to call in for coffee. We were welcomed and seated near the back at my request. The café wasn't full but they took time to give us menus and serve our drinks. We also ordered scones for three of us and a croque madam. The food took along time and indeed we had finished our drinks. The redeemable factor, the scones came in a paid and were warm, so we all got to have one.Lovely décor and grand feeling - enjoyed our visit apart from the very slow service.

Vine aquí para tomar café, té y pastel con mi familia después de mi graduación, éramos 12 personas. Pedimos algunos pasteles para compartir y tés de crema de lujo y cada uno de nosotros había pedido una bebida caliente. El gerente nos echó porque nuestra mesa solo valía 50, y aparentemente ella tenía la capacidad de ganar más dinero de otras personas. Nos obligó a tomar un café y un pastel cada uno para quedarnos en la tienda. Le dijimos que perderías una mesa de 12 personas si quieres hacer eso, su respuesta fue: "Bueno, está bien, tu mesa solo vale como 50 de todos modos, si quieres irte puedo regalar tus asientos" .Esto es más que grosero y descortés, el personal nunca me ha tratado de esta manera.NUNCA MÁS.

Avec mes amis nous avons décidé de goûter dans cette endroit. Déjà quand on est arrivé le serveur nous dis que c’est trop cher pour nous. Nous avons rien dis et nous avons commander. On a attendu 30 minute notre commande !!!! Pour 3 gâteau qui sont en vitrine !!! On attend et on vois que des clients qui arrive après nous et sont servi avant on demande au serveur ou est notre commande et il nous dis qu’il a oublié notre commande!!! Je trouve sa inadmissible de juger et choisir comment traite un client selon sont physique. On demande à parler à un responsable et elle nous prend de haut et nous dis c’est normal on est servis selon le temps de rapidité de la commande. Mais servir 3 gâteaux sa prend pas 30 minute ! Je déconseille totalement cette endroit.

We went last weekend to the Oxford Street branch, wanted to try the non-alcoholic tiramisu as had heard it was absolutely delicious. Can't fault the dessert or the latte that we had, however I was shocked at the price difference for sitting in and take away. The take away price for the tiramisu was £6.95 compared to the £3.20 for take away and the drinks were approx £5 each as compared to £1.80 for taking away. When I asked about the price the waiter just looked at me and said you're paying for this and pointed out the seatings/lights/decoration of the cafe. Then he said 'there's a difference to eating it in here to on the street'........ We paid the bill and left. I appreciate there is always a difference but double the price???????

The best impromptu decision we have taken was popping into this delightful charismatics caffe. Fab Coffee, amazing food. Whilst scones might be terribly continental, you won’t get a better one (or two! P) anywhere. Fabulous.....

I'm not a person who gives critical reviews and usually rate Cafe Concerto, however, today's afternoon tea was poor. Our 15.00 booking although confirmed by email was not reserved for us. Our Groupon voucher had already been redeemed by Head Office but Whitehall branch team seemed thrown by that and didn't really know how to deal with Groupon vouchers apart from the manager.

I was wondering how this restaurant could run its business with such rude ushers and staff. They ignored and treated us very badly, and assigned a very small table for us despite we made a sincere request for a somewhat bigger table. They declined my request very rudely which made us felt unwelcome and unfair. But they assigned many four seaters table for 2 people there. Shame on this ushers and staff - they just behaved not want to do business for this restaurant. This was our first time and also our last time to this bad restaurant in London - no more Concerto!

Called in for coffee and cake after seeing delicious array of cakes in the window at what seemed to be a reasonabe price. After having a piece of cake each (which was Priced at £2.95 per slice in the window) and a small coffee each our bill came to £23.40. I was too embarrassed to query it in a crowded shop but left feeling completely ripped off!!!!

I booked an afternoon tea for my grandmother and I for Christmas through Wowcher which was £20. I also went to a different restaurant (Map Maison) for my partners birthday yesterday. On Friday I called both to check the reservations were there just to put my mind at ease so I could look forward to the weekend knowing I hadn’t let my partner nor Grandmother down. While Map Maison were so friendly, confirmed the booking was there on the system and were looking forward to seeing us tomorrow, the lady from Caffe Concerto answered, said as long as you have your voucher I don’t need to check the system you’ll be fine. I said I didn’t have the email right now but I paid and booked a long time ago could she just check on the system. She said no as it wasn’t infront of her right now. I asked if she could go and check. She patronisingly said, if I did as she said and brought a print out confirmation it would be fine. I reexplained I couldn’t find the email right now to which she told me I can’t come then. I said surely it would be okay as it’d be on their system, so she sighed and asked me my name, baring in mind this was 7 minutes into the call and I hadn’t yet been asked. She muted me for a while and came back and said there was nothing there and I must have made a mistake. She said her name was Irena (that’s what it sounded like anyway).

We stopped here for lunch after our time at the national gallery. The service was good, considering there were two people attending the entire place. Our appetizers were good as were our entree salads.

Price versus quality and quantity are very bad. I had higher expectations seeing the inside from the restaurant. The calzone I ordered was very small and payed 18,00 £ for a tastless and small pièce. My family had also small pièce of pizza orders. We had to pay tot 4 familymembers for £ 99,00 for poorly filled small food and 11£ servicecosts. I eat in several restaurants in London, where you have better value tot eating and better food and prices. I Will never eat anymore at this restaurant!

Sadly, another place in London is getting away with poor quality of food and service because of its location and ambiance. Which is very upsetting when you have guests. We had luxury cream tea to share. Cakes looked good but sadly soggy and tasteless. In future, definitely I am going to try to find independent small tearoom or cafe who is proud what they serve and how they serve.

Fui a tomar café con dulces a las 19, mi madre iba en silla de ruedas. El encargado nos pregunto si íbamos a cenar y al decirle que no, que íbamos a tomar café y dulces, me dice que no, que solo para cenar. En una de las mesas estaban tomando solamente café.

Cozy atmosphere and style of secesse from 1920, relaxed, quiet ( however full of people ) inspiring place. Breakfast menu is simply great and quality served is like from heaven Cery friendly, highly professional staff Definitely must to visit when in London.

Desayuné aquí el año pasado y me estaba recordando la ubicación exacta porque me dirijo a Londres en unas pocas semanas, cuando me di cuenta de que no había publicado una reseña de mi primera visita. Supongo que eso lo explica todo, el hecho de que no estoy reservando el desayuno en el hotel, prefiero aventurarme a Caffe Concerto.

Having visited this restaurant last week I was somewhat surprised to see the very mixed set of reviews it has received. I must admit that our visit was a very positive experience. Although a little on the pricey side we didn’t really expect anything else within a few yards of Trafalgar Square. We arrived at approximately 5.15p.m. – we hadn’t booked. We had no time really to look for alternatives because we needed to be at a nearby theatre by 7.00p.m. The ambience of the restaurant is very nice, it’s quite a plush place, lots of mirrors and fancy chandeliers. My wife ordered the chickpea risotto and I had then chicken and mushroom risotto. The food arrived within a very acceptable time period and the portions were generous. Both risottos were excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed them. My wife was too full to have a dessert but I, having a sweet tooth, had to have one. The dessert menu wasn’t extensive and were a little expensive, in the £6 to £7 range. I had the frangipane (cherry, I think) with custard and ice -cream. The portion, when it arrived, was again generous and I really enjoyed it. The waiter was efficient and polite and looked after us well. I would certainly recommend this restaurant, based on our one visit

Away on business and called into this caffe as it was raining, so glad I did , the food was great, very tasty. The staff were helpful if a little reserved, Would definitely visit again when next down in London

Fantastic atmosphere at this spacious cafe tucked away on Whitehall - beautiful decor yet calming amongst the central London bustle! The staff were obviously very experienced and helpful. And don't get me started on their delicious cake selection! (served by Virgil Marian)

A beautiful venue and a promising menu but sadly average food. Expensive for what you get and not the most attentive service either.

There's good and bad about the Caffe Concerto in Whitehall.

The meal here was absolutely amazing. Had the truffle cheese fondue, highly reccommend. However, the service was not great and we had to wait too long to get waiters’ attention, even though it wasn’t busy at all.

Μετά τον πανζουρλισμό στην Πλατεία Τραφάλκαρ και προχωρώντας νότια στην Whitehall street, ψάχναμε κάτι για ελαφρύ φαγητό, αλλά συνάμα ήσυχο και χαλαρωτικό.

Ottima location con ragazzi che parlano correttamente l'italiano ai quali abbiamo chiesto consiglio su cosa mangiare. Pienamente soddisfatti della scelta fatta siamo ritornati anche il giorno dopo. Arredamento retro ma lussuoso. Pietanze che si avvicinano al gusto italiano. Locale creato da italiani nel 1920. Lo consiglio vivamente

Viajé a Londres por el día y me encontré con este restaurante por casualidad. Llamado para café y pastel. Ambos estaban deliciosos y las tazas de café eran de un tamaño generoso. El servicio fue eficiente y amable. Lo recomiendo encarecidamente y sin duda llamaremos en nuestro próximo viaje a Londres.

Plats très jolis, sucrés comme salés. Le sucré est très bon. Le salé pas goûté. Tarifs raisonnables. Service très aimable. A 2 pas de Trafalgar Square c’est parfait pour faire une pause quelle que soit l’heure. Je recommande

The staff was swift and interested but not intrusive or overbearing, and the food was delicious and flavourful. There was a vibrant atmosphere from a room full of happy patrons and nothing was too much trouble for the fantastic staff. Thank you

Siendo realistas hay dos ciabattas con papas fritas y dos refrescos por valor de 42. Seamos realistas, este lugar es una estafa turística. Sí, el Caffe se ve bien, pero la comida es mediocre como el servicio. Cuando tienes que pedirle algo a la camarera cuatro veces y finalmente lo logras en el cuarto intento, sabes que estás deprimido.

Together with my wife, we taken some excellent cakes and coffees. We found here a beautiful atmosphere, and friendly staff.

We called in for an early evening meal. The restaurant was very busy but we were quickly shown to a table. The staff were all fantastic and food outstanding. The restaurant was beautifully decorated and very clean. I can recommend this restaurant.

Lots of choices on the menu. Something for everyone. Great service too! The risotto was delicious. Would highly recommend for lunch.

The atmosphere is nice and friendly. Our fellow diners were friendly, too, and we shared ideas about what to do during the day.

Warm service, all the time with a smile and nice words especially for my children who loved her. Big thank you to Ioanna who really gave us amazing service and made us feel welcomed and appreciated. Also big thank you to Cafe Concerto kitchen staff who prepared amazing food for us, especially pasta and lamb shank, fresh and tasty food, nice appearance and affordable prices.

I have visited this place with my family for a bday treat, best choice ever thanks to Ioanna that made us feel like royalty with her great customer service. See you soon Ioanna.

Five star everything! Five star food! Five star service! 100 stars deserts! Thank you Cafe Concerto team for offering taste and quality! Couldnt remember all the names but Marius and Marian were some of the staff in there we remembered and wanted to mention!

Our server Ioana Sabina was great. She was friendly and helpful. The service and food were good. We enjoyed our meal and will return. Deserts are excellent.

We just wanted to buy some cakes to go the sales girl Joana took her time arranging trays and cleaning instead of serving customers we were standing there for at least 15-20 min meanwhile more people were queuing. The girl who was maybe the manager refused the help of other waiters she had no idea of costumer service.

Very pretty restaurant interior. Good place for breakfast or afternoon tea. Staff were very good. Not too busy, and quite a surprise in central London. I’d recommend this place.

Ordered eggs, spinach and peppers, got one egg placed in huge portion of red sauce for 9 pounds. Told manager that the egg picture looked very different, said it was photoshopped? Stayed hungry for rest of the day. Wouldn't go there again.

Excellent friendly service, nice atmosphere in comfortable surroundings, good menu choices, typical Italian items. Food good, prices average for C London. Wide range of patisserie, afternoon tea service. BUT - No choice of ice creams offered - surely a good Italian must have gelati?..

We ordered two medium cappuccino’s and one Danish to share. The cappuccino’s were without coffee, milky and lukewarm. Then the unfriendly server tried to rip us off by charging us for grand coffees. Still we paid £ 13 for this awful coffee experience. Being located in the center of London is a privilege and not a license to rip off coffee lovers. Shame on you!
