Fantastic traditional pub in Digbeth, a stones throw away from the city centre. Went there on a Friday afternoon, so wasn't busy at all. A good selection of beer and ciders available, and the cobs (fresh from a local bakery that morning) were fantastic, would go back for the cobs alone! Landlord was welcoming and spoke about the other decent pubs in the area to visit. Will go back next time I'm up in Birmingham for some drinks.

Owner is incredibly rude and bitter. I was waiting on one of their street side benches for a friend to come so we could go in for a drink when the owner came out to complain about me "sitting on the comfort of his benches" (Old splintered benches aren't my idea of comfort but to each their own I guess) when I attempted to explain I was waiting for a friend to accompany me he compared the benches to my back garden and said he " would never come into my garden to sit on my furniture". At which point I got up and left to go to pub owned by somebody who isn't a bitter old man ! Would NOT recommend to anyone looking for a pleasant friendly experience!!

Very disappointed with the Landlord who was extremely rude to myself and my friend last night. He certainly isn't fostering a welcoming vibe here, and I can see why it was empty. Unfortunate as apparently the previous publicans were lovely and very welcoming.

New landlord Alan is making a real difference here, regular opening hours, tight selection of good beers, and a friendly welcome. We came back after many years away, and glad we did. So heartening to see a classic Victorian pub and Brum stalwart getting the love it deserves. Sounds like there are good plans for sports screens and tasty food over the next year or so. Support your proper local pub and come for a session!! 😃

Guinness was ok and the bar staff friendly enough once he'd noticed us waiting at the bar. Fortunately had cash on me as the card machine wasn't working. By 2200 on a Bank Holiday weekend Friday night, there was only me and my friend in and last orders called for 2215.

Me and the Mrs came in from a wander round Digbeth this afternoon, beautiful selection of ales, stouts and largers, very welcoming guvnor! He gave us a walk round the awesome traditional Victorian pub ( lots of hard work and replacing damage has been put into restoring pub to former glory) and we spoke about everything from Industrial Birmingham to past and present Brum boozers. It was a privalage and will definately be back on the train for more best bitter 👌 and quality chat. Highly Recomend! Not many pubs like this these days!

Traditional Victorian Brummy boozer, nice features (wood work and glazed tiles) which was traditional for pubs built in Birmingham in that era. Real ales were great and sensibly priced. The area is being redeveloped as this was an area of the city given over to factories and warehouses back in the day but many are being repurposed and I see this area as up and coming.

Carlsberg, Estrella and freedom on tap for the lager drinkers, shipyard and a Halton Turner mango milkshake (craft ale) on keg plus guiness and a Hogans cider. The satay chicken balls were okay, but none of the staff praised it for being so delicious and crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The second place couldn't praise it as much. The fresh tomato and pork chop rice is really delicious. . . . Even though the pork chop was thin, it was tasteless and had a strong pork sour taste. I vomited it out every time I ate it. Even my friends at the table couldn't stand it. The juice was originally from a can of watered-down canned tomato soup. What the heck? There is no taste, and there is no food in the dish.
