Don Tacos in Birmingham

Lovely place, gave me some free churros because it was my birthday alongside the food just being very good. Only problem was that one of the decorations looks kinda out of place and makes the place look cheap (it isn't, it's a lovely place) (attached picture is said decoration) (I'd get if it has a charm)

Staff were very nice and patient as we decided on what we wanted, and the food was really good. Will be returning!

Below average food and badly overpriced. Portions were tiny and the meat was pureed like cat food. Tacos were just supermarket wraps with one spoon of filling. Criminal.

I recently visited Don Tacos on Ladypool Road, and overall, it was an average experience. The customer service was good—the staff were friendly and attentive, which was a plus. As for the food, I tried the soft tacos, which were okay, but the beef tacos were definitely better than the chicken. The highlight of the meal was the Mexican drink, which was refreshing and flavorful. However, the prices were quite high for what was offered, which was a bit disappointing. On the bright side, the restaurant is family-friendly and a good option if you’re looking for halal Mexican food. While I wouldn’t rush back, it’s worth trying at least once.

Nice food , nice atmosphere. Spoke with the manager and he was very accommodating and gave good food recommendations.churros is a must ! Would visit again!

I went to Don Tacos because the shop looked nice from the outside, but I was really disappointed. I paid £10 for three small tacos, and they were very average. The portion size was tiny for the price, and the food didn’t stand out at all. Honestly, I wouldn’t recommend going here. There are plenty of other places on Ladypool Road with better food and better value for money. Save your time and try somewhere else.

So the food is actually tasty, I'm from Mexico and I was craving some spicy food and snacks, I got to have the Birria quesadillas and I was not disappointed, the elote was good too! The location it's quite small so the smell and scent can get impregnated in your clothing but aside of that I definitely recommend this place to enjoy some Mexican food.

It was delicious, but I felt that the rice in the burrito was similar to Southeast Asian rice, which is different from the type of rice I've eaten in Mexico. The store staff are kind.

Very tasty food compensated for the smallish portion. Shame doesn't give tapwater, especially with hot spicey food.

Loved the Mexican sodas. Service was quick and friendly. Menu was great for the vegan in our party. Food was to die for. So good in fact we returned the following evening before travelling home.

Found this little gem in Birmingham, being from Arizona I haven’t had authentic Mexican in years. Wow. Just wow. The Birria tacos are to die for. The guacamole is amazing. Best tacos in the UK by far. Chef has this wired, the service is impeccable. I will be back Thank you so much.

The best Mexican food I have ever tasted

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Don Tacos, and I have to say it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The ambiance was warm and inviting, and the staff went above and beyond to make our visit memorable. We were there celebrating my mother-in-law's birthday, and the restaurant staff made it so special for her. Not only was the service prompt and attentive, but they surprised us with complimentary churros for her birthday! It was such a thoughtful gesture and made her day feel even more festive. And to not to forget the food was absolutely delicious! And I would definitely come back and recommend Don tacos as It’s rare to find a place that combines great food with such genuine kindness. We’ll definitely be back!

Hidden gem in terms of food, food was delicious. The Birria Quesedilla was too spicy even though it was medium. Nachos were great, Soft Tacos were beautiful as was the Birria Tacos. Don Tacos deserves the overall star review just based on the food. The service was ok, unsure whether it was table service or not. Staff brought card over for reviewing whilst still eating, also nothing to drink other than Mexican Jarritos If you want authentic Mexican food that tastes good then this is the place

the burrito was a good size but the rice was dry like it had been left out for a long time. not much guac which is annoying considering you have to pay extra for it. the birria tacos were expensive for the portion size & there wasn’t many flavours. the guac that came with the tacos seemed shop bought. for the price i’d expect fresher food with more seasoning/flavour, it was just spice without much else. i can already tell that this food has upset my stomach :(

Great service - food warrived quite fast and tasted great! Definitely would recommend the birria tacos and elote corn! Wasn't a big fan of the fajita seasoned fries and I think if I'm not mistaken they use mutton instead of lamb (meat was quite tough) unless it was down to the cooking. Other than that, we were looked after by Aisha :-) Definitely recommend this place if you're craving Mexican food!

This food is not authentic Mexican food, it is not bad, but is not fresh.

I’m not sure how this place is rated over a 4. I had the vegetarian birra tacos and the vegan mince burrito. The tacos were mediocre whilst the burrito had a weird tangy taste and was seriously missing flavour. I definitely won’t need to come back. Save yourself the disappointment and try a different restaurant.

This place was on my to try list for a long time. Had £7 off with Deliveroo and decided to pull the trigger. As seen below I ordered chicken birria and chicken wings. I was disappointed. The birria was tiny and didn’t have much taste. It was very greasy. Honestly a frozen halal chicken patty from Morrisons is better. The wings were drowned in marinade and were tough. Prices are crazy. I just don’t think the local food scene can get Mexican right. I remember a place called Amigos opening on ladypool road about 11 years ago and being a disaster.

We went earlier in the day around 2pm, it was nice and quiet. We had birria quesedillas, tacos, steak with rice and fries. The birria quesedillas and the tacos were juicy, well spiced and oozing with cheese. Very tasty. The birria consume.... WOW so tasty. The sour cream and the guacamole were really nice too. However the portions for what you pay are too little. Sharing this plate with another person may prompt you to order more but you'll be spending a lot too! Moving onto the rice and steak dish, the steak was nice, but the rice and the beans lacked spice or flavour. It was served on a really really really hot plate which didn't cool down even after 10 minutes. The fries were well portioned and spiced and the Mexican drinks were tasty too. The service was brilliant though. The food came within 20 minutes and I didn't get his name but the lad who took our order was very friendly. Overall would recommend for the birria tacos and quesedillas but would not recommend if you don't want to spend a lot of money or like more food for what you pay.

Food was amazing!! Really good size portions, i’m stuffed!! Will definitely be coming back. I’d recommend this place to anyone who loves a good mexican with a great atmosphere. They played latin music, from reggaeton to bachata to brazilian funk, i was in my element ahaha. If you’re looking for a mexican food place in birmingham then here at Don Tacos is the place to be!

The food is not what I expected

First time trying ordered the Birria tacos they were absolutely delicious bursting with flavour would order again food was warm on arrival delivery guy was helpful

Outstanding service lamp chops and cipotle birria tacos were mind blowing and avacado sauce was out of this world. I strongly recommend to try don tacos, the ingeridients are all fresh and food is good. Plus the staff is very friendly amd helpful.

A change from burgers and chips we decided to try something alittle diffrant. The whole expirance of tasting new foods was tantalizing. The tacos were very filling, we had the chilli fries,they were nice. The other foods were tasty but too heavy ,we got them packed. The drinks were refreshing. Overall it was a great evening,everyone was satified and happy to have tried something new.

Very good food. One of the few places in the UK you can find Birria Tacos. Had Don Tacos in Manchester as well. Both very good. Just love Birria Tacos

Hands down the worst food I ever tasted in my life. The food was very unseasoned and the prices were absolutely crazy for the portions we were given. Felt very sick after the food, won’t be suprised if I get food poisoning. Asked to get a refund for unseasoned chips, however wasn’t able to get one.

Had plant based menu, was very tasty, lots of flavour, authentic styles. Free desert was an added bonus!
