The White Rose in Dudley

Years ago, I used to work at a take away pizza and Italian place. Whenever we would get a new customer, the boss would make sure they got the best food (plus a few extras) and service they could possibly get from us. He'd want to wow them and hopefully they'd be pleased and come back. White Rose Chinese obviously doesn't have the same ethos. First thing I noticed, the set meal for 4 (£54)was a lot more expensive than actually buying a load of separate dishes... That isn't normal, right? So I ordered my 6 or 7 dishes (6 people) and waited for the delivery.. Which was prompt and pleasant. The food on the other hand... Now either they'd ran out of ingredients, we're skimping to the extreme, or perhaps both. Not a single beansprout, water chestnut, peppers, spring onions, baby corn... A few mangy bamboo shoots, slices of carrot and onions. Swimming in sauces with a bit of meat. Hey, at least they still charged me full price. Well done. The lack of vegetables, and in particular beansprouts, was at its most notible when we cut into our large spring roll.. Or cabbage roll, as the White Rose served us. Horrible! Tiny portion of chips, large noodles and fried rice were far from large (remember when dishes came with rice or chips as standard?) and the sesame prawn toast wasn't exactly generous with the prawns. I've had thicker marmite. Disappointing. Ah well, they must have loads of customers as they obviously don't want me to return.

Used to love the food from here but in the last 2 occasions it has been terrible. No flavour very oily and is the worst we have had. Hot in the middle and cold on the outside and just could not eat it. Won't be going back

We ordered two meals by phone and collected in 15 mins. I do understand comments by others that the food is a bit basic and I would agree, but it was plentyful and good value. The pork and mushroom curry seemed to be pre-cooked sliced pork, mushrooms and some sliced onions added to a generous portion of curry sauce. Simple, but filling.

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE! I used to visit this takeaway regularly, but haven't been for a couple of years. I really wish I hadn't bothered, my usual special with fried rice was awful, my husband's satay chicken the same! I don't know if they've changed the recipes or the chef, but I won't be going back! Really bland, tasteless food.

Oh dear oh dear, I have used this takeaway a few times now and this will be the last, Chinese food has gone downhill over the years and it's difficult to find a decent one. The food was terrible, greasy and tasted off, it also lacked the flavour of authentic Chinese cuisine, I had the sweet and sour chicken it was chewy slimy maybe undercooked, ended up throwing it away.

Oh sweet lord! That was categorically THE worst Chinese I’ve ever had the unfortunate experience of eating! In fact it was inedible! Chow mein was dry as a bone and the noodles were as thin as thread, chicken chop suey was flavourless except for the bits of ‘chicken’ which tasted off! I have used White Rose for over 20 years but THIS was wholly unacceptable!

We go here every week. This is the best takeaway in the area. They do great food and are very very friendly.

This take away held the crown some years ago and a favourite of ours, then we discovered Rainbow Palace and our alligence changed. So any way RB was engaged so tried WR and got through. Order taken, delivery time accceptable, delivery price £1.20 / food price average I thought well then let’s see what gets delivered.

Had food from here at least 100 times and never reviewed.Food is consistently good.delivery always quick and the food arrives hot.The service is friendly.Safe to say it will always be one our family’s favourites.

Orderd the special curry with boiled rice and chips in barbecue sauce arrived quickly very polight person who delivered it and was very good .very impressed will be using them more often.

New to the area (visiting by narrowboat) we thought we would give this place a try and we were very impressed with both the quantity and quality of the food. The pork was exceptionally tender and lean, spare ribs flavoursome and duck yummy. Singapore noodles were also excellent. All told highly recommended.

Chow main was like eating shredded wheat. Curry was horrible. Spring rolls were black inside. Didn’t eat. Waste of money.

We stopped having takeaways after several disappointing meals. Tried the white Rose we used to use when living in Amblecote. The longer journey was well worth it! Had another takeaway the next week it was so good......yum

This is an update to my review at the beginning of the year. Has my favourite takeaway for a long time changed hands? It certainly seems so. The place has been spruced up - different faces behind the counter - free prawn crackers and (sometimes), fortune cookies. But the most important thing - the food - has gone downhill. Previously consistently good quality but what I had tonight was rubbish. I'll give them one more try in case it was a fluke, but if the standard isn't improved it will be my last from the White Rose.

Fantastic Chinese takeaway food. Friendly service and generous portions. Plenty of variety and the cooks are always willing to make alterations to dishes if requested.

Dropped in here as passing and when I lived in Stourbridge years ago it was the best...with a friend and said it's really good. We waited ages as we ordered some more unusual stuff and it was very poor....chowmein was a lot of tasteless veg with a clump of fine noodles at the bottom of the tin. Chips were overcooked...squid tasteless and included mushrooms which we specifically said 'no mushrooms'...spring rolls over cooked and not much inside....need I go on...I can't believe they have any customers serving such a poor excuse for Chinese food. Don't go!

La Rosa Blanca ha sido mi go-to China llevar varios años, pero acabo de pasar una de las peores experiencias de comer nunca. Campanas de alarma debería haber comenzado cuando la comida llevó sonando a menos de 2 minutos en llegar de ordenar! El arroz frito parecía 'Viejo' y el pollo estaba grasoso y pre-cocinados. No había nada fresco sobre la comida, muy decepcionante. Uno es tan bueno como su última comida, y después de esto yo no vamos a volver.

Been going to White Rose for nearly 30 years and prefer it to anywhere else in the area. If you like sweet and sour, try the King Do dishes - a definite favourite. Good quantity and prices too.

Excellent Chinese alway fresh reasonable priced. Singapore chow main and king prawn curry our favourite.

Mi comida llegó una hora tarde, no appoligy y me cobraron entrega. La carne era de muy mala calidad y yo descubrimos que estaba nadando en aproximadamente una pulgada de aceite. No vamos a allí de nuevo. Yo no debería de nuevo nos aventuramos del Golden Fish de lejía. No quiero dar ningún estrellas pero no envía con una :(

usaba la rosa blanca regularmente hace años y probamos otra vez mientras visitaba Stourbridge.

Decidí dar a este lugar otra prueba hace unas cuantas semanas, ya que había sido años desde mi última visita. Me sentí como si estuviera caminando hacia atrás en el tiempo cuando ingresé todavía ya que todo era igual que como veintitantos años!

Uno de los mejores llevar chino en nuestra zona con precios razonables. Después de la primera orden que se sabe quién eres y normalmente un calendario para las Navidades.

At least once a month we order takeaway from here, and they never fail us. Great value for money, the food is delicious and the staff are always helpful and friendly.
