There is always a warm welcome here which is why we are regulars! We always pop along to the Wednesday quiz nights and any other disco or themed events the white house run! Food is great, staff are lovely (remember your names, drinks and orders!) An all round lovely pub!

Had a pint whilst meeting an old friend of mine. Very warm and welcoming, nice pint, we never had food but nice pub

Menu had no foods labelled as gluten free so I wasn't holding out much hope. Was friend's choice of venue so we went anyway. I liked that diners are in separate area to avoid the bar bustle. Staff were attentive, friendly and polite. They were really helpful regarding my dietary needs and double checked my choice just to make sure, which made me feel really comfortable. Thank you.

We went as a family group of 16 including a baby to celebrate Christmas and the matriarch’s 102 birthday. We were welcomed by Luke who looked after us all evening and we weren’t put under any time pressure. The food was excellent and service fantastic. Highly recommended!

Not dog friendly and unpleasant

Tried to visit on the run up to Christmas. There are no obvious signs on the doors that dogs aren't welcome, had a waitress come up to my whilst I was queueing and asked me to leave immediately, seemed quite brash. Beers on tap didn't look like a great selection so best to skip this one and head to the golden lion.

Excellent service on a busy day, I noted to the staff that I had an allergy to an ingredient & it was clarified that what I ordered didn’t contain such item. Food came quickly, was piping hot & filled the spot.

Great service, good food. Order was served promptly even on a busy Friday evening. Will return, service with a smile, thank you.

Great Staff, friendly and pleasant. Food is a big improvement on how things use to be. Beer prices keep creeping up, now £4.65 a pint and only one beer in the Cask Club? Lovely venue in the nicest part of this old Victorian town.

Lovely place to sit and catch up with family , went in and was met with friendly bar staff while I waited for my family to arrive , made me feel welcome and comfortable , was enjoying listening then planning the upcoming quiz night with excitement and could tell they enjoyed working in the establishment which is a pleasure to hear. Definitely worth a stop

This is a great place for a relaxed meal. The staff are friendly and deliver great service. The menu is full of traditional pub fare. We enjoyed a morning coffee and stayed for a delicious lunch with a glass of wine, sitting near a lovely warm fire. Yet another visit today, and I have to say 5 stars are not enough. Truly lovely staff, excellent service, great food, a good selection of drinks, and all in a cosy, comfortable venue. The Sunday roast is highly recommended.

Great value and a great atmosphere. I took a couple of young people with addition needs for a couple of drinks and an early evening meal, they loved it so much they asked to go back the following week. I can see us becoming regulars 😁

Visited for a late lunch and our first pub lunch with a new baby. The staff were lovely and welcoming and couldn’t do enough to help. Food is fresh and cooked to order with the ability to change or swap things around. Will definitely be back again before long.

Havnt tried the food yet as only met friends for a drink and I didnt think they did gluten free food, but I have been told that they do gluten free if asked. Service is always great and staff are lovely and pub is always clean and tidy. There is a good atmosphere and plenty of spaces to park. An all round good pub.

Had a very pleasant time,drinking a few pints,eating delicious food,doing the crossword and people watching. The two staff Lisa and Anna were very welcoming and very accommodating. Its was a great way to spend an afternoon I'd recommend it to anyone.

Took the family (7) for drinks and food.I had the mixed grill enough for 2, excellent best I have had for some time. Every one enjoyed the food and drinks.Staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble as usual.

Lovely meal, atmosphere was spoilt by a group who let their children run around the pub, shouting, swinging on chairs and generally making a nuisance of themselves. At one time we could hardly hear what was being said by others in our small group so we left earlier than we would have done. Such a shame as all our meals were lovely.

Went out for lunch with my husband and we both ordered the half of chicken with fries and coleslaw. When the meal came it was two small quarters on the plate, the food was bland and was not worth the money. We are both very disappointed with the food it was really not worth going for. When asked if everything was ok I mentioned that the food did not seem to match description of half a chicken and was disappointed no offer of an exchange. Sadly we would really not recommend if you want something nice to eat. Have never needed to leave a review but felt like I needed too. On a positive note the staff were polite and friendly.

Came here for Sunday dinner. Both had the beef dinner which was really nice. Excellent service off the staff, Lisa and Anna were very welcoming. After dinner we then sat outside for a drink on the suntrap terrace area.

We visited last week as a large group for an end of term lunch. The whole experience from start to finish was superb. It was easy to book, we had the choice of the full lunch menu and despite the order being varied and taking full advantage of this great range of food, the staff were most friendly and accommodating. On arrival, we were able to pay individually and then shown quickly and efficiently to our tables, which were placed in a part of the pub which gave us the feeling of it being a private party. Within minutes the meals were brought out to the tables, without any errors, or waiting for certain dishes and each one looking equally appealing. Whether enjoying fish and chips, lasagne, crispy chicken, steak sandwiches, gammon, burgers….the list goes on…..everyone was pleased with their meal. Thank you for the first class service and the high quality experience with lovely, friendly and helpful staff… we will certainly be back for more.

Me and my family come here every few Sundays and we always have a lovely experience. Bar staff are so polite and drinks are great. Never had an issue here :)

I went with my friend as it's a pub we thought it would make a change going to I was standing in queue waiting to be served when the man behind me kept touching my back I was going to turn round and slap him but decided to just move away from the creep won't be going back as it's a dirty old mens pub definitely not for us wouldn't recommend to family or friends

Went to the White House for food and a few drinks. The food was top notch, we had starter mains and pudding. Had a few pints of Madri, the taste was superb.

Lovely cosy pub for lunch. Set menu was a bargain we will definitely return.

Over an hours wait for lunch frozen roasties veg and Yorkshire gammon was fatty dessert was ok overall a disappointment.

Review Update: I had some business meetings locally on Wednesday 28th & Wednesday 29th of February 2024 with people from Northern Ireland, Scotland, Northallerton & Leeds. On both nights we 'ventured' into the White House for drinks and a few beers. All I can say is that on both nights the service was excellent and the food great. The Irish contingent were very much impressed by both the building itself, the food and the excellent service. A huge thanks from us all to Marten, Anna & Lisa - always a pleasure to catch up with you. The White House is my local and I have never had a bad experience in the place. The staff are always polite, attentive and provide excellent service.

I went here with family, five of which were visiting us from Amsterdam. We visited at around 4.30pm on a Wednesday teatime. We managed to be seated immediately which was great. Drinks were fairly quick too. However, we ordered nine meals and only eight arrived. Meaning one of our party was left without food, whilst all the others were eating. We were assured the forgotten meal would be out in 'five minutes' which sounded fine as it was only a chicken ciabatta. Didn't arrive for at least 20 minutes. And that was only after we chased it up. Then we ordered ONE dessert, nobody else wanted one, and that took 30 minutes to arrive! Absolute terrible service, with zero apologies! The food was ok, ish. Although one burger was so dry it wasn't eaten. Again, nobody from staff enquired why this was. Bill was over £200 for mediocre quality and service. Would not recommend.

The two steaks we had were excellent I had the free giantess zero and .y wife had a cocktail.The service was first class from the two guys on duty especially as they were extremely busy.Please stop the tables from wobberling.

Good time good drinks good food

Really disappointed with our Christmas day meal. I was looking forward to what I expected to be an excellent day but felt really let down. I don't want to give too much away but our party spent in excess of £450 on the meal and drinks and I don't think any of us felt positively about the experience. On a more constructive note the staff were friendly I certainly can't say they were the problem, it was really down to the food. I'm unlikely to ever return as a result, and definitely wouldn't for a Xmas day meal.

Setting was nice, place was empty so service was quick. Room temperature cold. Would not recommend. Gravy was tasty but so thin impossible to eat. Veg covered half of plate and was sloppy so did not eat. Meat was scarce and gammon dry. £30 for two of us and we came home hungry.

Nice cosy pub. Food is nice. Have a good quiz on a Wednesday. They also do food for takeout if don't want to eat in. Plenty of parking. Nice outdoor area when it's sunny. Plenty of drink choices.

Dined here this evening. No options left on the Sunday fixed menu. We ordered three hunters chicken and a curry. It took over half an hour to come to the table. When it did bits of my dinner were stone cold, other items were warm. Very poor experience.

Hadn't been in years popped in for some lunch was lovely and reasonably priced.

Its was a nice meal at a nice pub. We'll be back.

Had a midweek lunch with my partner. Food was delicious and the staff made us feel welcome. Good menu choice that would cater for most people I’d say. Fantastic choice of ales. I believe they do a quiz night which we may try soon!

Absolutely beautiful building and stands well from the roadside. Very friendly staff. The food was very well presented and all came together. We came all the way from Hull and had a smashing night. Would highly recommend and we will be back soon.

Sorry to say the food wasn't up to much chicken was like rubber the bacon was burnt, the young girl that served me was lovely the atmosphere wasn't bad .

We have just moved to Hartlepool and this is our new local. Because we are still unpacking we've had brunch and dinner here. The food has been uniformly excellent, the staff are lovely and there always seems to be a nice atmosphere in the pub.

What a lovely, lovely place! We came three weeks ago and not only did we get a warm welcome, but the service and food was excellent. The ultimate burgers are amazing which is our favourite atm. Great food for a reasonable price and always served by friendly staff who are only too happy to help. Have returned twice since our first visit 3 weeks ago and brought my parents who enjoyed their visit with us. We will be back next week for a little treat again for sure! Keep up the good work guys 👍🏼🙏🏼
