Good atmosphere, service was fine decent pint 🍻

Took far too long for meal and we were given small portions and sausages were also burned

Came here with a friend, we both ate and had a drink each, curry was lovely! Would recommend!

Went to the White House for food and a few drinks. The food was top notch, we had starter mains and pudding. Had a few pints of Madri, the taste was superb.

Lovely cosy pub for lunch. Set menu was a bargain we will definitely return.

Over an hours wait for lunch frozen roasties veg and Yorkshire gammon was fatty dessert was ok overall a disappointment.

Went there last Friday night,there was a band playing and had a great time!! brilliant atmosphere and the staff were really helpful...loved it!!

Review Update: I had some business meetings locally on Wednesday 28th & Wednesday 29th of February 2024 with people from Northern Ireland, Scotland, Northallerton & Leeds. On both nights we 'ventured' into the White House for drinks and a few beers. All I can say is that on both nights the service was excellent and the food great. The Irish contingent were very much impressed by both the building itself, the food and the excellent service. A huge thanks from us all to Marten, Anna & Lisa - always a pleasure to catch up with you. The White House is my local and I have never had a bad experience in the place. The staff are always polite, attentive and provide excellent service.

I went here with family, five of which were visiting us from Amsterdam. We visited at around 4.30pm on a Wednesday teatime. We managed to be seated immediately which was great. Drinks were fairly quick too. However, we ordered nine meals and only eight arrived. Meaning one of our party was left without food, whilst all the others were eating. We were assured the forgotten meal would be out in 'five minutes' which sounded fine as it was only a chicken ciabatta. Didn't arrive for at least 20 minutes. And that was only after we chased it up. Then we ordered ONE dessert, nobody else wanted one, and that took 30 minutes to arrive! Absolute terrible service, with zero apologies! The food was ok, ish. Although one burger was so dry it wasn't eaten. Again, nobody from staff enquired why this was. Bill was over £200 for mediocre quality and service. Would not recommend.

I went with my friend as it's a pub we thought it would make a change going to I i was standing in queue waiting to be served when the man behind me kept touching my back I was going to turn round and slap him but decided to just move away from the creep won't be going back as it's a dirty old mens pub definitely not for us

The two steaks we had were excellent I had the free giantess zero and .y wife had a cocktail.The service was first class from the two guys on duty especially as they were extremely busy.Please stop the tables from wobberling.

Good time good drinks good food

Really disappointed with our Christmas day meal. I was looking forward to what I expected to be an excellent day but felt really let down. I don't want to give too much away but our party spent in excess of £450 on the meal and drinks and I don't think any of us felt positively about the experience. On a more constructive note the staff were friendly I certainly can't say they were the problem, it was really down to the food. I'm unlikely to ever return as a result, and definitely wouldn't for a Xmas day meal.

Very efficient professional staff

This is a great place for a relaxed meal. The staff are friendly and deliver great service. The menu is full of traditional pub fare. We enjoyed a morning coffee and stayed for a delicious lunch with a glass of wine, sitting near a lovely warm fire.

Setting was nice, place was empty so service was quick. Room temperature cold. Would not recommend. Gravy was tasty but so thin impossible to eat. Veg covered half of plate and was sloppy so did not eat. Meat was scarce and gammon dry. £30 for two of us and we came home hungry.

Nice cosy pub. Food is nice. Have a good quiz on a Wednesday. They also do food for takeout if don't want to eat in. Plenty of parking. Nice outdoor area when it's sunny. Plenty of drink choices.

Dined here this evening. No options left on the Sunday fixed menu. We ordered three hunters chicken and a curry. It took over half an hour to come to the table. When it did bits of my dinner were stone cold, other items were warm. Very poor experience.

Hadn't been in years popped in for some lunch was lovely and reasonably priced.

Its was a nice meal at a nice pub. We'll be back.

Beautiful food as always would have been five star but reckon chips should be home cooked instead of basic frozen one staff as always brilliant

Had a midweek lunch with my partner. Food was delicious and the staff made us feel welcome. Good menu choice that would cater for most people I’d say. Fantastic choice of ales. I believe they do a quiz night which we may try soon!

Absolutely beautiful building and stands well from the roadside. Very friendly staff. The food was very well presented and all came together. We came all the way from Hull and had a smashing night. Would highly recommend and we will be back soon.

The food was absolutely horrendous. The bar and drinks hospitality is excellent. If it did better food the pub would be the best in the town

We have just moved to Hartlepool and this is our new local. Because we are still unpacking we've had brunch and dinner here. The food has been uniformly excellent, the staff are lovely and there always seems to be a nice atmosphere in the pub.

What a lovely, lovely place! We came three weeks ago and not only did we get a warm welcome, but the service and food was excellent. The ultimate burgers are amazing which is our favourite atm. Great food for a reasonable price and always served by friendly staff who are only too happy to help. Have returned twice since our first visit 3 weeks ago and brought my parents who enjoyed their visit with us. We will be back next week for a little treat again for sure! Keep up the good work guys 👍🏼🙏🏼

Service was great, friendly staff, also glad there's table service option. Calm environment with it being a tuesday evening. I had lasagne and was disappointed, and the nachos here are disappointing also, really basic microwaved food.

Just left , the white house is a nice comfortable cosy place to enjoy a drink and a chat, food is expensive , tonight my brother and I had haddock and chips , the only thing in its favour was it was hot, I would have complained about the disgusting size off the fish finger I got and the thimble full off tartar sauce but my brother paid over 11 pounds each so out off respect I said nothing I don't get why everyone is saying the food is good yes its OK but you need a bank loan to eat there , won't be paying 11 pounds + anymore , absolutely shocking for the size

if your thinking of having food delivered think again ive been there a few times to pick up always lie about the wait 2-3 mins means 25 at least today was the final straw told it would be ready in 2-3 mins again lol waited 20 got mostly ignored by the staff then finaly came over and said ive just enquired it will be another 10 mins which by their time i would have died of old age cost me diesel AGAIN and time i could have been making money never again terrible service

I always enjoy coming here for lunch, I have a onion allergy and the staff can't do enough. The service and staff are second to none and I would recommend The White Horse every time.

Our first visit here, been meaning to visit for ages. Unfortunately, disappointing food. Had fish and couldn't cut the batter and very little fish in there. A shame as we'd heard good things about the food.

What a gem . Large area for dining , just popped in for a relaxing drink . So cosy . Great bar staff

Very understaffed wasn't told how the order process works as they rushed off there feet took us to our seat and walked off food was quick and drink 5 start bathroom is so clean but yet needs upgrading amazing time would recommend.

Waited for a while as they were busy at the bar this man pushed in front and I waited a while and just went ‘oh’ I wasn’t that bothered just waited till I was served and there was a young woman with brown dark hair she was wearing a spotty dress behind the bar who I hadn’t seen there before. She said to me ‘rather than sighing and huffing you need to speak up’ I looked at her in shock at the way she spoke to me. She was really rude towards me I work in customer service myself and would never speak to someone the way she spoke to me.

Let down by not enough staff, food was pretty standard, would go back for a gin and dessert though!

A great idea to have breakfast with Santa , but poorly executed and the breakfast was poor

Great place to go today shame it took an hr for the main course the lasagna was dried up and no meat took it back got a refund but wasted a whole hour just for it to arrive very upset as usually very nice here 5 stars sorry to say reduced to 2 frequent visitors here as well shame really has put me off returning as all I got was a sorry. Dined here last week during quiz night, the quiz was great fun and food was lovely. We shared some starters and sides and all were really well presented and tasted great. We will definitely be back!

We always receive the best welcome whenever we come to The White House which is why it is our favourite place to go. The staff are brilliant and go above and beyond. I cannot think of any improvements

Food was awful. Main was awful. My partner tried 5 times on the app to get something as everything was out of stock. Waited 40 mins between each course. Shame because staff are lovely but couldn't stomach the food again

Totally disapointed, spoilt the night, we had looked forward to it all day as we have had great service and food on nurmerous occasions.. service was bad food was disappointing ... 1hr plus waiting with no communication or warning , the place wasnt even busy only a hand full of tables occupied.... wont be back

The service and food were atrocious. The place wasn't even busy and melted clingfilm was found in my daughters burger. King prawns for starter and no taste in them at all but the bread and butter served with them was the only decent taste. Chicken curry was abismal for a main course. Offered a free desert for the clingfilm scenario but kindly refused as we were not impressed with the food at all and can happily say we will never return. Only made 2 stars as its a nice looking place but sadly let down with quality of food and service. A place is only as good as your last meal!
