Stunning delivery of a hard to find Modules Mariniere with fab gluten free chips, good conversation and a very friendly atmosphere. Loved the place and the people!

We had a fantastic Autumnal weekend at The White Horse. A lovely warm welcome for us and our dog, fantastic food and wine on both nights and super comfortable beds. Thank you!

We had lunch here with friends and family having previously visited so expected a good meal. We had a friendly reception but waited a long time for the food to arrive considering we were the only people in. Two of us had fish and chips which was OK but the triple cooked chips were greasy and soggy. The chicken Kiev was very tasty but at £22 didn't come with any potatoes so that was extra which wasn't acceptable. The best bit of the meal was the extra portion of truffle fries with parmesan. Lunch for 4 people with drinks £133 😬

Book a room for the night, I had arrived at the hotel, and the car park and terrible lighting and was pitch black. - I tripped up and cut my face open, had to be rushed to A&E and did not stay in the room; however, the hotel charged full price and was unsympathetic to the situation. I will not be consider staying again.

Unfortunately, this isn’t a good review at all after loving this place for so long. We booked for a Sunday lunch for a table of 3 including our two year old son. I had the pork, my wife had the beef and we ordered a child’s roast dinner. First of all we ordered some drinks which, one didn’t arrive so I had to ask the waitress when it would come. When the food arrived it was immediately underwhelming. The pork portion looked large, but it was mostly fat, and ‘crackling’ was soggy. The roast potato’s were so dry and hard to cut, and the same goes for the Yorkshire pudding. The veg included 1 very small carrot and some dry cabbage. There was a side of cauliflower cheese, this was also disappointing. We paid the bill and left promptly, only to call the pub later that day to ask if there was anything wrong that day with the chef, and to voice our dissatisfaction with what was a fantastic pub. They apologised, but insisted the food is cooked to what they believe the correct standard, they have offered us a refund of one of the meals, however this has yet to be received. I really hope this place improves. It use to be a fantastic place for Sunday lunch. When you go out for food you expect to eat better than you would at home, sadly for this place, we should have stayed at home!

We stayed for three very pleasant nights and dined twice. An attentive manager supported by his young but professional resturant staff enhanced an excellent experience. Obviously with its good resturant grading we expected good food. We got it - A very good chef resides here. We tried fish & chips the first night - absolutely lovely. The second dinner we went for nibbles to start followed by Cod chowder dishes with new potatoes, amazing special fries & fresh peas with asparo. Very good portions were served and all were perfectly cooked. The french wine we chose was equally good. Next time we visit the area we will stay & dine here.

Pricey for a pub lunch in the middle of nowhere. With similar options in every village, I probably wont return.

We went here last Sunday 28th July as a treat for our friends who had put us up.Firstly,the young lady who took our drinks order of 2 halves of cider,and 2 pints of draught larger.Bought to us 2 pints of cider,and 2 bottles of Corona.The food wasn't overly hot,the roasties were quite hard,and the cauliflower cheese was burnt on top.Although the staff were pleasant enough,the service of just short of 15 pounds wasn't warranted.

I recently 'found' this pub whilst out cycling. We decided to eat here after a long dog walk, nearby and were happy with our decision. We shared a starter and pud, and both chose fish and chips with it being a Friday... ...we both agreed it was the best fish we'd eaten in a very long time. The chips need their own name, cos they're enormously thick, but good, nevertheless. Glad to note that the peas were crushed, as opposed to mushy. Beer was good as was service, with friendly bar staff. We will return.

We booked the private dining function room for a small wedding reception. Our communication with Ashley about what we’d like, what we could and couldn’t do, how we could decorate the room, and what entertainment we were allowed was clear from start to finish. On the day itself the room was laid out beautifully, the food was incredible, the drinks were plentiful and our guests were blown away by the service of Ashley and his team. There wasn’t a single thing we’d change about the day and I cannot praise everyone at The White Horse enough for their professionalism, their warmth and their hard work. Faultless.

We only stopped for a beer and had a great conversation with the owner. All very engaging.

We both stayed and ate here. Our room had no room darkening curtains or shades, and there is only a bathtub with a shower attachment, not an actual stand up shower, which was quite a disappointment since this wasn’t clear when we booked. The staff here are very nice. We ate dinner at the restaurant and the food was very good, but the portions are so small that we were still quite hungry after a full meal, so we went to the Tesco superstore down the road to get more food.

The food I, and my two friends, received was very mediocre in quality and served luke warm. The gnocchi with asparagus which was supposed to be a main covered only a third of the plate - a small starter portion but it cost £18.50! I would NOT recommend eating at this pub. I would also suggest customers taste the draught beers before ordering as they can be stale.

We have visited this place many times over the past 5 years We have always had a nice meal and the staff very friendly We had a family Birthday with friends the Sunday roast was poor the roast potatoes were dry and hard the vegetables were overcooked and the meat had no flavour. I made our reservations about the food. I was told he was sorry to hear that and walked off Not the response I was expecting. Alas we will not be recommending this venue to any of our friends

Went for an evening meal and unfortunately it seems like the chef has changed or was off and the wait staff were new/untrained. Took a liitle while to be seated and there was only a few tables with customers. Menu was much more sparse than the example one they have on their website. I had the chicken burger and it was just a piece of fried chicken in a bun with a few bits of limp lettcue and a couple slices of tomato. Quite dry and had to ask for mayo. For the price I would expect more components. Would get better at a Brewdog bar, and cheaper. Another party member had the gnochi and there was perhaps 4-5 mouthfuls. Staff didn't open or pour wine and did not know what sorbet and ice cream they had. So nothing so bad as to demand a refund etc. but be careful if using previous reviews as a baseline, quality has gone down and prices are the same. Go into any reservation with eyes open.

Honestly one of the best pub Sunday lunches I've had for ages. Simple menu of roasts and pub classics with one or two more modern gastropub options but incredibly well cooked and with obviously high quality ingredients. Lovely tastefully decorated dining room but also a proper country pub vibe in the bar at the front. Highly recommended!

Booked this place with great expectations, but felt it was overpriced. My husband had lamb & it was stringy. My daughter & I had the veggie option which wasn’t nice. Would prefer a veggie burger from our local kebab house!

We were briefly in the area for completely unconnected reasons, and the person we were visiting recommended The White Horse as a good place to have Sunday lunch before we headed back to Worcestershire. The pub is very popular but they managed to fit us in, and the food was delicious. Clearly it was cooked by a proper chef, and everything was perfect and made with quality ingredients. The White Horse beer I had was well kept too. Everyone received a friendly welcome, and there were lots of locals, some of whom were just popping in for a drink with the dog. Thoroughly recommend.

Fabulous pub in every way, a real gem! A really warm welcome and despite us not having booked, they found us a table in the comfortable bar area. Super efficient service, a perfect blend of efficiency and friendliness .Regulars came and went and all dealt with like they were friends. Beautifully styled everywhere, nothing pretentious or over done. And the food!!! Sublime Sunday lunch! Just wished we lived closer but would wholeheartedly recommend. 👍☺️

Absolutely love this place. The rooms - clean, comfortable, quiet and sensibly priced. Service - excellent, nothing is too much trouble. The food - just superb. We went to the White Horse Inn for a valentines day meal, the menu is not the same as they put up on the website but it was still a great menu with a good variety. The scotch egg started is a must for anybody who is a fan of them. The two mains and pudding were also very nice, all the food we had was nice and it was a good price for the quality. The only complaint would be when we were waiting for dessert they started making the tables up for breakfast which we didn't mind at all but the nice young server had the wrong plates and the way he was spoken to by the taller large member of staff who i presume was a manager was pretty disgusting, I think the landlord/owner should have a word with him as we didn't like seeing the nice server spoken to like dirt when he had done a great job and was just trying to do his job, just tell him he has the wrong plates and treat your staff with some respect.

Dinner on a Saturday night, busy but service was good and the food outstanding 👍 Will be back soon

Good afternoon - my Mum, brother and I stayed at the White Horse, on Saturday 9 December 9 2023, whilst visiting family in the area. It was a shame we only stayed the one night as we would have loved to have eaten in the restaurant. The rooms are really quite charming with good quality linens and everything one could want from a good selection of drinks to a lovely patio area. The bar and restaurant are really cosy and our breakfast was delicious. The produce is of a really high quality and we loved the fact the details of the produce are displayed in the bar area. Food itself was mostly pretty good, mussels were excellent. Although the staff were decent people and the younger members were really nice, the team lacked a general cohesive hospitality and awareness. Awful bloody flavour of Jazz, which felt forced and out of step, and then silence for ages, try some Chet Baker or something a bit mellower over dinner perhaps... place was empty on a Friday night...Shame as its a great spot.

We had Sunday lunch at the White Horse today and the food was absolutely delicious. Some of the best cooked roast pork I've ever had and everything was hot and seasoned beautifully. Thank you to all the team and we will definitely be back soon.

The White horse inn in Compton is very good. Quiet location and nice host. I wish to come here in the next year, but should be with better weather.

The room was clean, but if you had mobility issues the step into the shower was very high. Our bedroom door lock was broken, room 4 so door could not be locked, the breakfast was very good and all the staff were friendly. It was a great location for us and a great view out onto fields from our room. Tea and coffee tray in room. And comfy bed.

I only visited the restaurant and ordered the steak rare, with shallot. The steak came well done, overcooked, sadly turning good meat into dry, tough meat. Worse still, when serving me the dish, the waitress dropped the only vegetable accompanying the meat on the table. So far, nothing unusual, accidents happen and are understandable. However, instead of offering me the chance to put the dish back together in the kitchen with a new garnish, the waitress simply apologised and left. If I wanted to, I could eat the vegetables straight from the table. To summarise, it's a restaurant with a good atmosphere and potential. The service, however, has made it too expensive for what it offers.

Some of the food was cold. Service was slow. Menu, and food were definitely better when I visited a year or so ago. Not sure I'd go again anytime soon

We had a lovely Sunday roast here, sharing platter for two. However the veg portion was so mean. We were given half a carrot each and parsnips 😞. This was not expected at all considering price. I did complain and was given some more, though not enough. That being said the meat was excellent.
