We visit here quite often (35 minute drive from home) for tea, coffee and their wonderful cakes. On the back of this we went on Saturday for breakfast for the first time. I ordered, or thought I had ordered, the Bargee breakfast. Alas no, I was given just the full Fnglish. As we go out to breakfast frequently, I can safely say it was the most disappointing one for a long time. The smallest piece of bacon and the smallest sausage ever that I've seen. Sorry to be negative but I can only report what I find. My wife's smoked trout and scrambled egg was apparently delicious.

We arrived at peak lunch time with quite a queue to be served. However the queue moved really quickly and we were served within minutes. To be honest I needed the time to admire the cakes in the display cabinet and decide which one I was going to have! I ordered the mozzarella & pesto panini with the homemade coleslaw, and had the chocolate cheesecake. The food arrived really quickly and was delicious! Also another bonus for being dog friendly and giving our dog his very own little plate of dog treats!

I simply asked for no mushrooms, did not want them replaced with anything and was told no alterations. I said just leave it off! The chef came out and said is it due to intolerance? I said no just don’t like them, he said no. So I said ok I won’t bother then and just have a coffee. Then they said ok as though they were doing me a great favour! Been going here for years and now just struck them off my visit list. All I would say is get yourself organised and treat your customers (who are your life blood) with more respect and allow adjustments. Very poor service.

Very disappointed arrived at 11.35 for something to eat to find they stop serving breakfast at 11.30 and don't serve lunch until 12, some products like bacon and sausage sandwich avaliable between this time but when I tried to order the lady said there was a 30 min wait time on food, so chose a fruit scone would have liked plain but no option for plain, fruit was very dry and hard to swallow, during this time we noticed no one at tables was waiting for any food, so basically they don't serve food for half hour 😳 .

The enternce from the main road does not look appealing but the cafe overlooks the canal and there are a couple of shops alongside the cafe. Try it out, you won't be disappointed. Revisited on the Easter weekend (2022), there was a group of us for Breakfast, great choice suiting all of our varied dietary needs. Great service and the food was excellent. I would still recommend, but it can get busy, especially at the weekends when the cyclists descend for breakfast. But then they know a good place to eat!

Very busy and popular cafe with views of the canal. The marquee is filthy, tables are not cleaned regularly and at least 10 out of 14 tables were not cleared away in the whole time we were there. Flies and birds were feasting on people's left overs. Basic cleaning standards should always be in place but since Covid most food establishments have been stricter with cleanliness - not here. Lunch took so long to turn up I've posted review before having a chance to review the food.
