Please can you pass on our thanks to all your staff for another wonderful stay - this is our fourth stay at The White Hart and indeed the very best; fantastic service from every member of staff during a very busy time, especially from Liv and Julie and nice to see a hands on manager in charge! Delicious food on both nights and brilliant breakfasts too. The improvements that the new owners have made to The White Hart into another league and we very much look forward to our next visit, number 5!!!

Setting is brilliant, very cosy. Let down by disorganised operation, resulting in tepid soup served and on heating they left the butter blocks and toast on plate hence microwave melted butter and left toast limp. Pie and vegetables meal good. Disappointed.

What makes this place is the staff. Callum in the bar, our waitress (sadly don't know her name), reception staff and breakfast staff, could not do enough for us. Take into account there was 18 of us for a family 50th, and that it made it more amazing. We ate, we drank, we all stayed in the hotel and a good time was had by all. Totally recommend the place.

Me and my husband went for a birthday meal tonight and it was recommended by friends . It was a beautiful cosy decorated hotel restaurant. The food and the service was top notch couldn't fault anything. The cosy bar area with big comfy chairs and fire . We will definitely be going back and I would recommend it to anyone who's looking for amazing food at reasonable prices.

Great Hotel!!! I've looked at this hotel in passing quite a few times (we live in newton abbot) and thought it looked cosy. Well, our hot water was playing up, so we decided to go somewhere to stay where there was a bath. What a find! Dog friendly, warm, comfortable, nicely decorated, comfortable beds, hot bath (and a comfortable lounging/reading bath) and the food was great! All very fresh and local produce, including fresh homemade shortbread in the room. Yum!

We didn't stay, just went for dinner. Restaurant and food was lovely. Staff were not bothered to serve us unless we got their attention and music was too loud to chat.

Awful ~ totally soul less and generic ~ lacked any warmth or hospitality The rooms and decor need a revamp ~ it’s tired and very dated The breakfast of smoked salmon and scrambled egg on toast was not edible ~ Awful is the only word I feel able up use ~ Awful

The barlady was wonderful, serving us excellent tea when we needed it most! (After a cold walk and a wait for the bus). We also enjoyed one of the employees flagging us down in the square when he overheard us looking for a cafe. He was right, it was warm and lovely inside! Thank you team!

If you're after a quaint old inn break. This is a good one. Close to Exeter, Torbay, and in the heart of dartmoor. Lovely food, great friendly staff and very nicely maintained.

Lovely hotel in great little area. Room was great value, with homemade shortbread on arrival, and a mixture of teas and choice of milk (oat as well as dairy). Restaurant pleasant and staff polite and efficient. Food reasonably priced.

Had food here a couple of times now & had an overnight stay during the past weekend. I cannot recommend them highly enough. Food is beautiful, rooms are finished to a really high standard and very clean. Staff are lovely and helpful, bar has a lot of choice. Had our 2 month old baby with us and we weren’t made to feel uncomfortable or awkward when she was aggy. Very well done by the new owners.

This friendly 3* hotel is located in the centre of Moretonhampstead which is sometimes known as the 'gateway to Dartmoor'... Moretonhampstead is an unremarkable small town that goes about its own business having an ATM, Co-op shop and chemist. The White Hart Hotel is notable as being a good place to stop and spend the night before a twenty minute drive onto Dartmoor. It is three star at most but none the less has pretty much all you'd want for a pleasant night's stay. I had a very pleasant cream tea in a large lounge with comfortable sofas and chairs. The staff were kind and I noticed the hotel is dog-friendly which is a bonus too. Update: 8th Feb 2024 - the hotel is temporarily CLOSED and going up for auction.
