The White Hart in Wiltshire

Just had a great family meal at the White Hart. We used to love the food under the old management and chef, but this was even better. The little touches like home made bread with the starters made all the difference Really hope they succeed, we’ll be back!

Stumbled across this pub on a beautiful sunny Sunday afternoon drive. Had a delicious rare beef Sunday roast, with crispy roasties and vegetables. Such a sunny day we sat outside in their garden. Staff were lovely too - felt very homely. Would happily recommend.

Mothers day Sunday lunch £17 .50 pp for an awful roast - Beef chewy , 3 roast potatoes, no parsnips etc , very small dish of hard cauliflower with a watery sauce, kale that was undercooked with loads of hard stems, a frozen Yorkshire pudding not homemade, we were hungry & knew couldn't get in anywhere else so attempted to eat it. My daughter left most of hers. When complained at the busy bar. No offer of part payment or desserts to compensate etc. It's a shame because my mum ate there 3 weeks previously during the week for lunch & it was good. Feel we have been ripped off.

My wife and I had business to attend to just outside Corsham so we had looked on line for somewhere to have lunch. The White Hart in Atworth caught our eye because of good reports, we were NOT disappointed! First impressions as we walked in was of a proper pub, a warm welcome, good beer and a nice atmosphere. For lunch I had ham egg and chips and my wife had fish and chips, we couldn't fault it. Lovely!! Highly recommended. Well done The White Hart team and thankyou.

Sunday lunch was delicious, great roasties with good quality meat ( I had the belly pork and my wife had the beef) extra vegetables served separately were perfectly cooked and plenty of them. The service was prompt and attentive We went twice in 2 weeks it’s so good. Great to see the new owners ( Nicola and Tony) putting their own stamp on the place

Heard the Sunday roasts were amazing and we weren’t disappointed. I had the beef which was perfectly cooked and the selection of veg was really good, and included a separate dish of cauliflower cheese. The gravy was the best I’d ever tasted. I’ll defiantly be going back again.

Now under new owners,the pub is friendly,cosy,lovely welcome. Great staff,the menu has options for lovely starters an smaller plates. What ive had has been excellent.

We were visiting the area and had a delicious evening meal at the the White Hart. My wife had mussels for starter and I had Camembert. The mussels came in one of the best sauces I’ve tasted and the Camembert topped with a tasty chutney. Both were served with excellent olive bread, so good in fact I asked where the bread was from only to find it was made by the chef that morning. The mains were a well cooked steak with a flavourful butter, homemade chips, mushroom and vine tomatoes/salad. My wife had a buttermilk chicken burger , I tried the chicken which was really succulent with a freshly made perfectly crisp buttermilk cover. I couldn’t resist desert and wasn’t disappointed with the date pudding with toffee sauce. The pub had cozy fires and a great atmosphere and I’ll definitely be back when visiting next year.

What an excellent lunch today at the Whit Hart Atworth. Wife and I took a last minute decision to have a lunch out. We have seen the adverts for The White Hart so we gave it a try. Brilliant decision, olden style pub with welcoming log fires and equally welcoming staff. The lunchtime menu had a good selection of meals to satisfy anyone. I chose the flat iron steak my wife the Ham egg and chips. Both meals excellent and plentiful. It was so comfortable there and nobody trying to rush us. The mains were so good it tempted us to try the pudding which we very rarely do especially at lunch. My choice a massive cheese board, wife had the sticky toffee puding with honeycomb ice cream. Again excellent. Fully recommend the White Hart to anyone you will not be disappointed Thank you Dr. L. S. Reeves

I visited the White hart on Friday - Curry night - Kirsty gave us a very warm Welcome and was attentive all night. Despite accidentally receiving the wrong curry, it was still delicious. All curry’s weren’t your ‘normal curry’ but a curry with a different twist….for example mine was a Thai green and the one I should have had was an Indonesian hot and sour. The Calamari starter was also excellent. The atmosphere was excellent and I plan to make this a more regular eatery of mine moving forward. Great evening, great food, great price .

We are on a mission to find a new favourite place for a Roast and this is a goodie! We live in Bath and are often disappointed with an overpriced average lunch, this was a really nice surprise! £13.95, with SEVEN veggies including THE PERFECT CAULIFLOWER CHEESE! Thank you! Lovely friendly service from the moment we walked in, reserved table with our name on, nice touch. Fast service, tasty spuds and let’s just mention that cauliflower cheese again! Hubby says he enjoyed his pint too! Teenagers cleared their plates, no complaints from them. We will be back! We will recommend!

Visited with my wife and two grandchildren after a long day at Longleat. All staff were very friendly and welcoming. Food was really good and children well catered for. The later included a supply of games to keep them amused. What pleased me was being a pub with a good number of locals and not hearing any language that made me concerned to have young children present. Might be a small thing but after recent experiences it’s important particularly when out with the family. Highly recommend and hope to be back …… particularly given we now have annual passes to Longleat! Thank you and well done to all involved in creating a great an welcoming environment.

Always been a good local pub but during lockdown they are serving a good menu with a decent variety. Tonight we had scampi and chips plus tagine with rice. Both were excellent - thank you White Hart for being a good community pub.

When we moved to Atworth last year the first thing we did - obviously - was to check out the local pub, particularly as it was within staggering distance of our front gate.What a great welcome we received from hosts Kirsty and Nathan, and this set the scene for what is a super-friendly local pub which does all the usual things plus many others which go together to make this the true heart of the village.As well as enjoying lovely food and great choice of drinks, you can borrow a book, buy an antique, choose a DVD to watch at home, have a game of skittles in the skittle alley or play boules outside in the pitch which the pub created for the village during the first lockdown (when they weren't offering take-aways and delivering food orders to the local populace, that is).All this is on top of the many, many special events run by the pub including charity breakfasts, live music events, carol singing, quiz nights and other money-raising events which have pumped thousands of pounds into local charities.Lovely pub, lovely people, just the way it should be,

Have to say I have never had a bad experience here. I have eaten at the White Hart on many occasions and always enjoy the food but also the environment. Staff always polite and attentive a cracking village pub. Would highly recommend.

We had a really lovely meal last night. The steak and ale pie was so tasty and came with mash and peas but we had the option of chips and veg which we took, and very glad we did. The last day of 25 percent off which we didn't know when we booked so it was even better value for money. Will definitely return.

We've visited the White Hart in Atworth many times over the last 30 years having lived in Atworth in the 90s.Its always been very popular and the food has always been first class. But this time we were very disappointed. The beef was tough, difficult to cut and even more difficult to chew.Very poor and not worth the price. We should have complained and sent it back, but we don't like making a fuss, although we did tell the waitress of our thoughts. We will not be returning!

Evening meal with my wife, very good covid precautions throughout which put us at ease. The food was of a good standard and the drink range is also good. The staff were excellent, well worth a visit.

Went 9/7/20; pub has just re-opened with a range of safety measures in place (staff wearing face masks and gloves, one way system, app in place for placing orders, appropriate spacing, limited numbers, one way queues etc. Happy to leave contact name and details for track and trace. Felt like they got the balance right and none of the measures felt like a hindrance. Well done on this.Had lunch and drinks. Steak pie was phenomenal; crumbly butter short crust, sizeable beef chunks and a rich gravy. Was accompanied by mash and a range of vegetables and cauli cheese. Very generous portions. Also had burger and fish and chips. Fresh food, reasonably priced and good attentive service.Would return. Go and out and support your local, indepdent pubs responsibly.

Had a lovely dinner with a fresh pint from a new barrel. Really nice service with attention to detail from all the staff and nice to be able to speak to the chef directly. A pate served with freshly toasted bread and some chutney was nicely set off with a chicken curry that was also very good. I wish I could have spent a few more evenings there!

Just come back to our hotel in Beanacre after a great meal at the White Hart. We received a warm welcome in the cosy bar and had a good table by the fireplace. Our drinks were brought over and a helpful young guy took our order. Good traditional menu choices and a specials board. I had an excellent meaty steak and ale pie with veg and mash and my wife had sea bass from the specials. Both meals were excellent. Sea bass perfectly cooked and a real steak filled home made pie. Really good service and atmosphere in a proper old country pub.Thanks for a lovely evening.

We went to The White Hart on a Thursday night and decided to have the two rump steaks for £21. The meals arrived quickly and the steaks were cooked beautifully, exactly as we had asked (medium to rare and medium). Everthing about the meal was spot on. The mushrooms were particularly tasty. Would highly recommend.

Visited the pub for their weekly quiz night. Great atmosphere, cozy surroundings and good hosts. Fully recommended.

We lunch here most months. The meals are excellent and prepared to order. We usually use the offers which keep the cost to a very reasonable level. The staff are efficient and friendly. We always make a booking at holiday times.

Kirsty was super helpful from initial contact to answering an array of questions about the menu for pur group. Kirsty replies quickly and fully. The hot buffet was excellent value and was served piping hot for us in the Skittle Alley, which was warm and well set out with an eating area, and loos next door. We had a really great evening and the crew are keen to return to the White Hatt and use their skittle alley again later in the year. Thanks Kirsty and team.

The family went here on the way back from Stonehenge. We were looking for somewhere that was vegan friendly as daughter is trying to do Veganuary. This was brilliant. Excellent food for everyone, meat, fish, veggie and vegan (we all had something different) and really lovely staff. Great pudding selection too. We will definitely be back when we are next in the area. A lovely find.

What a lovely place to eat!! We were passing by and didn’t no the area so googled pubs for lunch. This one was highly recommended and I can see why. Although the eating area is small, the polite lady behind the bar managed to squeeze us in without a reservation. Our waitress was so friendly and helpful. Portion sizes were huge too! We had such a lovely meal here. If we didn’t live far away, we would definitely be returning! Great atmosphere and lovely food.

We had my wife's 30th Birthday meal here, the staff went above and beyond to help with the birthday cake, making sure everyone was happy. Even though it was busy we never felt like we had to wait to get served.

We needed a country pub that would be open early and able to feed 16 of us including children. From the first email right the way through to paying the bill....Outstanding service and the food was Very Good, nothing was too much trouble. High chairs, colouring books for the kids, extra bread for Nan you name it...Kept in touch with us throughout without being over the top....We cannot recommend The White Hart enough, we will be going back as a family and individually..... Made to feel very welcome, as a solo female. Seated in a descreet area of the pub, so I could see what was going on but not over looked by others. Good food, service a little slow, however the staff apologies for this.

Went with my brother and his partner. We had three courses sharing as we went so got to taste a lot of food and it was all good. Favourites for me were the steak and beer pie, and the lemon tart.

Visited on a Friday evening, fairly early seating. Menu seemed reasonable and I opted for the special swordfish steak main at 15.95. Very disappointed with portion, think steak cooked well but came with only 5 chunky chips and small little portion of roasted veg. Opted for the treacle pudding which came with custard, again disappointed as stone cold in the middle. Despite the waitress changing and giving me a newly heated pudding overall pretty poor.

This was a spur of the moment decision to call for Sunday lunch, and we got lucky as they just had one table spare. The ambience was great and as we sat in the beer garden waiting for opening time we where entertained by some kids and a lovely dog called Ralph. The food was excellent and great value.A very pleasant time and would certainly recommending a visit.

Having passed this attractive pub last week my husband and I decided to give it a try for lunch today. We were greeted by a friendly staff member who was very informative regarding the menu and availability of certain dishes. The menu was extensive and we spied the '2 rump steaks for £21.95' deal, available Tuesday to Thursday. Having ordered, we waited only a short time for our meal, which was huge. The steaks were done perfectly, as were all the trimmings, including the huge pile of chips. Haven't had such a good steak dinner in ages!

A very enjoyable Sunday lunch for 3 vegetarians, 3 meat eaters and 2 quite fussy children. We were very happy with the choices on the menu (some vegan) and all liked our meals. The staff are excellent - friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere relaxed and welcoming. Thank you. We will be back!

6 adults and 2 children all had a wonderful Sunday lunch here! Kids eat free which is amazing and the food was absolutely delicious. Great veggie options too which doesn’t happen often! Friendly staff who are happy to help. Will definitely visit again!

We were a party of four: two had the Sunday roast (lamb), I had the steak and ale pie; my wife had cauliflower soup: all four dishes were simply magnificent. The best pie I have ever tasted and I am on the wrong side of 70, something of a pie connoisseur! Lovely ambience in the pub. You've just got to go there. Landlady a very welcoming person. Obviously very much part of the village, lucky them!

Pure village pub. Great atmosphere, amazing staff and landlord and landlady. Food here is delightful and the team just can't do enough. Best local experience of any pub this kind.

From start to finish everything was superb!

Very nice welcome, lovely setting, good selection of beers and drinks and a good selection on the menu with an additional specials board.

Just back from a lovely meal at this local pub. My Venison in a berry sauce was delicious and tender. The atmosphere was good and it looked like they were in for a busy night. My husband had the home made steak pie which was well presented. For desert my Chocolate Ameretto with Raspbery Sorbet was so yummy and not at all sickly. My husband had Syrup Sponge. Glad we went early as we hadn’t booked. Well worth a visit.

We held our son’s christening party in the skittle alley and Kirsty went above and beyond to ensure that everything went well for us. Always very responsive to our calls and questions and nothing was too much bother for her. We were able to set up the room before the event with balloons etc and the lasagne was lovely. It’s nice to have a separate space for a party that is also close to the pub for if people would like to buy their own drinks. I would highly recommend having a party here and we will probably have another one when we have another occasion to celebrate.

I use the establishment very often, both for food & liquid refreshment. Very warm and friendly owners, 1st class staff and an abundance of varied menus, all expertly cooked on the premises. I can, in all honesty, Highly Recommend to One & All xxxx

First visit to The White Hart and what a truly lovely time. Friendly staff, great atmosphere. Excellent food. Whitebait starter was really hot and fresh. The mushroom starter was so yummy especially for my vegetarian other half. Followed by great scampi and chips and the chilli burger which was enormous and so tender. A great night. We shall return

14 visited on 28th December and had the skittle alley for the afternoon. We had a fantastic afternoon playing skittles and having gorgeous food also.

Thank you for fitting us in. Had family visiting. perfect spot, loved the food. Left as a happy lot. 😊 Great food

This is such a fantastic place, the food the staff and people are all amazing. Such a friendly place.

I have just attended the annual Christmas quiz evening where our group tucked into a variety of menu choices including the turkey dinner. The food was lovely as usual and the service was excellent (where else do you see the waiting staff get a round of applause as they left the building later in the evening?!). The atmosphere throughout the night was everything that a 'local' aspires to and so much of that is down to Kirsty. Her attitude is amazing, she is genuine and very warm and the whole night was great, not least the money raised for a very good cause. I cannot praise the White Hart team highly enough, something I can't honestly say about our quiz team. There's always next month.....and the next!

We held our wedding party at the White Hart Atworth. Kirsty and Nathan did a fantastic job throughout the day and evening. The food was delicious and buffet outstanding. All the staff were excellent and our 150 guests have all said what a fantastic day they had and what a lovely venue it was. Thank you for all your hard work White Hart, you helped make our day. I had the pleasure of having lunch here on several occasions during my stay in August, the food is lovely I will go so far as to say that the Sunday Roast is as good as my Mums!!!!. The service is outstanding.. friendly, polite and anything they can do to make your visit enjoyable they will do... I am not usually one to post reviews but Kirsty and Nathan are outstanding hosts. I attended the Stagg wedding it was the best food and service ive ever had from a venue ... I was completely blown away, by their every thought to detail. They transformed the pub to look absolutely beautifull . I think its the best wedding I have ever attended. I highly recommend it for any occasion . Hayley from Australia.:)

My Dad and his wife recently held their wedding reception at the White Hart and it was absolutely stunning. The owners could not do enough to make sure the afternoon/evening ran smoothly and everything was perfect. They really put their heart and soul into the day and it meant a lot to all of us. My two young sons were also really well looked after and Kirsty even provided activities to keep them busy during the speeches etc. On top of all of this, the food was absolutely delicious!

We tried to book our usual place to meet family for a get together lunch but couldn't get a table for 9 people so we thought we'd try the White Hart. It was a great choice and our meals were delicious. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. We will certainly return.

We are very lucky to have this pub just around the corner from us. They can always be relied upon for fantastic food (the fish and chips are to die for!), they have great live music at the weekends and they’re always involved in charity fundraising events. Very child friendly with a new outdoor area for kiddies and there are often deals on kids food making the overall cost very reasonable. The menu and everything on it is delicious! Really friendly staff who go out of their way to help and serve with a smile. Such a rare thing is a village pub that actually works hard for the village and gives back to the residents, while welcoming visitors and non locals too!

We are very lucky to now be able to call The White Hart our local! Wonderfully friendly staff and owners, a relaxed and classic pub atmosphere and the most amazing food. We have frequented with friends for birthday lunches, for dinner with family when they visit from afar and as a couple for our anniversary. The food is faultless every single time, as is the service. The charity events are fantastic and despite being ‘newbies’, we still felt welcomed by all. I would recommend The White Hart (and the Fish & Chips!) to all, for any occasion.

We rang up and asked if we could book a table, we were told it was fully booked after a few minutes they were able to find us a table. The service was great and food arrived quickly and was delicious.

Due to personal health problems we have not been here since last year Their Fish & Chips ( served on wooden board ) is still, in my opinion the best in Wiltshire We have been eating here for many years & have never been disappointed

This pub really is the hub of the village and the range of activities they put on is amazing! Yet again we went for Sunday Lunch, which was a good as ever. Great meat, wonderful vegetables and probably the best homemade Bread and Butter pudding ever. Oh yeah and the beer selection is pretty good too!
