A great stay at the Old Mill Hotel in Salisbury, within easy walking distance of the town centre. A lovely old place with the mill water actually running through the dining room! We were checked in and made comfortable by the lovely Lisa KP and next morning she was up making our breakfast. I’ve never had a more perfect poached egg. Thanks, KP! John.

Have visited several times in the past but this time under new management the service was poor. The beer was not up to the old standard had to return the pint. An order for a sandwich took 45 minutes to arrive after 3 requests as for when it would arrive. Will certainly not be visiting again no comparison to how the previous owner managed

We booked to have a Sunday meal here with family. The day before the reservation we were phoned to say that there was no Sunday lunch offering, that wasn’t really an issue but clearly should have been in reflection. When we got to the restaurant we were left waiting for 5 minutes before anyone greeted us and took us to our seats. When we finally got served to order drinks there was a very long wait for these to arrive and took even longer for the server to come back and take our orders. We were not told of items being missed until we order that item and we’re just told sorry we don’t have any more of that. This was at 1pm so early in the day to be running out of items…. After an hour of us initially sitting down we finally got our food, all I can say was it was fine. Don’t expect anything decent it was okay pub food at best. I had ordered one of the specials a Katsu curry, it was a very basic curry sauce with some chicken and rice, nothing special about it, for what it was it was very over priced! Service needs to be drastically improved here I won’t be returning any time soon as other guests around us seemed to be having similar problems.

On the positive side. The hotel is quaint and situated next to the river. The walk into Salisbury is around 15 minutes & is very picturesque. On the negative side. The hotel rooms 1, 2 & 3 are above the bar & the noise is terrible you can hear every conversation until the bar closes. The rooms are ok, a terrible leak in room 3, to the point you get wet feet when going to the bathroom. The noise from the rooms above is also bad, I wondered why there were ear plugs provided in the bedroom. The food is average at best, the menu is really limited. I came away feeling shattered with lack of sleep due to the noise from the bar & the rooms above.

The Old Mill hotel was where we chose to hold our wedding reception earlier this month. The whole event went very smoothly thanks to Lisa, Tobias and the rest of their team who went above and beyond to help us pull off the event. Because of them we were able to hold an intimate but amazing party for my family and friends that we will all remember this for years to come. The setting was magical, the food was amazing and the service was so friendly, accommodating and unbeatable. Thank you so much for all your help at the Old Mill Hotel. The hotel will always hold a special place in our memories and we can’t wait to be back

I booked a table here following an excellent experience here last year. Firstly, I didn't receive a reminder email of my booking which wasn't necessarily an issue, I tried to look at the menu on the website but it said page not found. I was half expecting to arrive to find the place closed down. Fortunately there were people sat outside. I told the barman that we had a table booked. He said to wait for the Manager. We waited. He then said order drinks while we wait. I ordered a Pinot Grigio, he had no idea what this was, I settled for any white wine. We continued to wait. In the end we walked into the (empty & cold) restaurant. We were told we could sit anywhere, we decided to go back into the bar. Asked for a menu. It was basic, hardly any choice and limited to 2 options, Ham & Egg or Cottage Pie. I asked if there was another menu as this was completely different to our previous visit, I was told sandwiches are available!! We finished our drinks and left to go to The Chapter House instead for dinner ... thoroughly recommend there. The Old Mill was a huge disappointment.

Lovely pub, in a lovely location, spoiled by parking fine that, to me, was too easy get caught by. I won't be going back again. Thanks for response: I did phone and, unfortunately, I got a "Nothing we can do. Not our fault, not our problem" type response (not those words, but that attitude). Call me old school, but when I visit a pub I am used to 'just parking'. Therefore, it wouldn't occur to me to look at and read signs, so it makes little difference if you have one or many signs. What would help is someone being on the ball enough to point it out when first going to the bar to order a drink.

We have often used this venue over the years as it is such an amazing spot, in my opinion it could easily be the best in Salisbury. We have seen many changes over the years and understand the pressures the business is under. However, it was getting better and the place had some life, a decent menu on offer and some effort had clearly been put in for the first time in a few years. However, yesterday we went for lunch and as usual ordered drinks inside and were given menus, I knew immediately it was in trouble again, the menu was terrible, no salad, no choices that were remotely interesting, drab and certainly not written by a chef. Anyway, we were there so opted for the safe option of burger and partner had a prawn cocktail (time warp?) On entering the garden, it was obvious the place has no management, no interest from anyone in fact. Grass hadn’t been cut for weeks, baskets all dead, rubbish everywhere. And by the look on the staff’s faces No one wanted to be there. 50 minutes till food arrived, mediocre is a generous description. No further interaction from staff (kept walking past empty plates/dirty tables. I genuinely hope that this place gets decent management in to sort

This is a beautiful place to visit whilst in Salisbury. The food and beer are a reasonable price (I did Sunday lunch) and the portions were very good. The meal was cooked well and the service was to a good standard. I never stay in the hotel part so I cannot comment. Staff were friendly and helpful. The location is a 10min walk from City centre along a scenic town path through water meadows and a view of the cathedral. On a sunny day you can sit outside and watch the world go by on the river (Avon). They have a large back garden with plenty of room for customers. And an outside bar which I believe is seasonal. Pets are welcome. The locals are very friendly and take time to chat; atmosphere was warm and excepting. Definitely a place to visit and you won’t be disappointed.

The room was well equipped and spotlessly clean. The hotel is a short walk from the town centre along the Town Path which is very pretty, with great views of the Cathedral. We ate in the restaurant at The Old Mill and all 3 courses were excellent. Very good beer selection. We finished the evening playing cards in the bar area which is really cosy. Unfortunately we had a bad experience. Food was average, nothing too special but it was ok. One of our burgers had the plastic from the meat patty still on. We would have mentioned it if someone had come to ask how our food was but nobody did. Nobody came after we finished our main and when we managed to get the attention of the waitress to ask about dessert, we were told that the kitchen was closed. However, the worst surprise came this month when we got a fine for 100£ for having parked at the "customers parking". Apparently you need to give the registration to the pub even though nobody told us (over the phone when we booked or on the night). Apparently there are signs "everywhere" but we obviously missed them (the car park was dark and we didn't go to the toilet or the bar so really we missed the one sign at the entry of the restaurant). We were a big group of mostly non-english speakers so we had enough going on translating menus and making sure everyone was ok. In spite of providing evidence that we had been at the restaurant at the time we were parked at their car park we have still had to pay the fine. Frankly I don't think the meal was worth the hassle of dealing with the fine and we are going to avoid this place in the future.

Waited a full hour for a portion of chips. Went in to enquire about said chips and and got a look from the person serving at the bar as if she didn't believe me. She then went to the kitchen to find out and came out and told me that all the orders had been fulfilled, insinuating that I was lying. I wasn't sure what else to say apart from that I hadn't received the chips. She then reluctantly handed over a small portion of chips and said nothing else. Not a single word of apology at any point. This is the second time we had ordered food here. The last time we dined at the restaurant and waited over an hour for food to arrive. We thought it was a one-off at the time but it clearly isn't

Great building and setting, visited on a Sunday lunchtime for a roast dinner which we’d booked. The overall experience was slow… the service was quite honestly dreadfully slow and our meals took almost an hour to arrive, the wait seemed endless. Food was really well presented but the beef was rare, not just pink, rare to the point of being undercooked. It was very thickly cut and when pressed on the middle of the slice it ran blood and not just meat juices. I had to cut around it and eat just the edges. No one came to check on us, so we left what couldn’t be eaten. When our plates were collected I mentioned the beef, but my comments were simply acknowledged with “oh OK”. For the money, it was disappointing and I wouldn’t rush back.

Charming very old building. The room is adequate size with full-size bed. Bathroom had very low ceiling. If you're 5'7" or taller it is a tight fit. There is only a hand held shower as no room to stand upright for shower on the wall. We were there during hot day. They have fan in the room, but really didn't help much. It was cooler in hallway so we had window open and our room door open. Great service from staff and a yummy full breakfast included. Only cons: parking lot was tiny and although sign said reserved for guests no one was enforcing the rule. We had to wait for non-residents to move a car before we were able to park. Also, if you're visiting during warm season, try to get a room on a side away from the river. Their were people up at all hours sitting, drinking, and pretty loud outside our window well past midnight. Overall, nice place to visit. Very close to town center and walkable to many attractions.

We had a wonderful dinner at the old mill. Atmosphere was great in this historical place. Service very pleasant and food very good. You can parl nearby but must register your license plate (it‘s free).

A fun and relaxed evening at The Old Mill. Good banter with the waitress team who helped make the evening very enjoyable. Food pretty good as well.

Awful place, service was terrible, and the food was cold, out of tin, tables uncleared and had been there for a long time. Other visitors left after not eating their food. Drinks given in Dirty glasses. Service very very slow and they all looked stoned and very unhelpful
