One of the best bars in Manchester, live music on Tuesdays/Wednesdays is unmatched, really good drinks (not just whisky available!) And an amazing selection for whisky lovers. We love it here!

Best pub I've been to in a long while. We just randomly chose this place and the atmosphere was great. I'd say its for a more mature crowd, not kids. There was a live act on who was Ok playing an acoustic set. Ales were good although expensive but where isn't in town now.

Enjoyed the open mic night. Look forward to going again

Brilliant whiskey bar, highly recommend. The bar man was great (forgot his name but he’s the chap from Durban). He had excellent whiskey knowledge, really friendly and had good banter. Definitely going again!

Lovely, relaxed bar with great live music. Shame about the obnoxious, entitled bar man concerned only with serving friends buying him shots. I eventually got served with an extra dose of attitude!

Really cosy place, felt really relaxed here. Quite busy even for a weekday which is great for business. A menu is definitely needed for this place, not knowing what the prices of somethings are is quite a gamble. Recent update, Saturday supposed to open at 2pm, ended up turning up at 1:45 and was told 15 minutes, ended up staying outside for an hour before actually being allowed to go in, it’s a Saturday, you should be ready before the opening

Great bar, with fantastic cocktails. Open mic night is EXTREMELY high quality. The bar man was rude, very passive and stand offish. Hopefully he was just having a bad day, but it has been a while since I've experienced service like that so have deducted 2 stars.

Well, this might be my new favourite pub in the centre of Manchester. They have an abundance of sofas, twinkly lighting, a suoer friendly atmosphere, and a great music playlist. I left just before the live music act started, but that is a thing here, too.

Had a really good night here with my girlfriend on Saturday night. They had some live music and the girl singing sounded amazing! Really good atmosphere. At the end of the night I left my rucksack by accident and didn’t realise until the following day. I turned up a couple of days later and they’d found it and had been trying to track me down to hand it back. Just wanted to say thank you so much guys 😌

Comfortable couches, music too loud and clubby for a whiskey joint. My old fashioned came drowned in ice and I'd be utterly shocked if there was any whiskey in there. Great atmosphere and very good whiskey selection. Much better places in town for better drinks.

We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves here, the Irish girl behind the bar was very helpful and knowledgeable about the different whiskeys. The live music was great entertainment.

It’s a nice place. Good selection of whiskey. HOWEVER, the male bar tender after putting the drinks through the till, at a cost of £9.90 very sneakily then added the maximum tip on the card machine making the total £13. Absolutely disgraceful.

Attended a whiskey tasting event on Easter Sunday. The whole afternoon was very enjoyable. Drinks were fantastic, (Aussie whiskey was incredible), live music. What more could you want.

If you like whisky go here. Great selection. The do cocktails too so there can be a bit of a wait at the bar. Good atmosphere too.

Great place for excellent cocktails Loved the smokey old fashioned and whiskey sours. Love music was excellent and the mood lighting and general atmosphere was amazing. With Dark and cool vibes. Normal wooden chairs inter mixed with large leather Chesterfields. Great for singles. Couples and groups. Stay very friendly and professional 👌 definetly recommended

Had an awesome time at The Whiskey Jar last night! The live music was fantastic, creating a vibrant atmosphere. The music selection was just right, and the best part? It's not too pricey for a whiskey bar of this caliber. Highly recommend for a night of good vibes, excellent tunes, and reasonably priced whiskey. Cheers!

Went to ther whiskey tasting and it was great. They have a large selection of whisky and other drinks at the bar. Friendly staff great atmosphere topped with live music. What else do you need for a Sunday afternoon experience 😀. Definitely going to there next tasting event.

Visited again for the Whiskey Festival and had a great time! If I see Joe around it’s a guaranteed good time!

Great atmosphere. Great drinks. Great staff. Great all round, we didnt have food but my god its the best way to end your night after a day in manchester.

Amazing set of musicians. Great vibe. Still got Chris Tavener’s The Daily Grind on repeat. Amazing cocktails and super friendly staff. We had lost our shopping (forgotten) at the place but were able to retrieve it after the new year once they reopened. Would highly recommend to find fresh local music, and amazing cocktails!

Impromptu visit to whiskey jar in Manchester. Had to try the cocktails as it was happy hour (everyday u till 7pm) 2 for 1 cocktails. Had a whiskey sour and a salted caramel old fashioned. (Note 2for1 is on same drinks only) absolutely the BEST old fashioned I have had. The atmosphere was lively and the dimmed lighting and sofa area seating gave the whole place a very chilled out vibe.

Held my birthday party here a couple of weeks ago and it was the perfect city centre venue! Guests loved the selection of cocktails and spirits, staff were really helpful when helping to organise the event and accommodated all our requests on the night.

Still a decent bar, but taken over by much better cleaner places. Time for a re-think.

Well stocked bar, nicely furnished and playing live music. They also gave me a soda and lime for free as all my friends were drinking which is always appreciated as the designated driver. The music was perhaps a little loud at some points and the queue for the bar can be long depending how many people are ordering cocktails.

If you're into live music, cozy environment and a different night out compared to what Manchester offers this is your place. I really encourage you to go to the days when they have live music because the atmosphere created surrounded by the musicians and public is special. The cocktails are a bit pricey to be fair but beer is good value for money. The local is full of sofas to create an unique place. 🇪🇸 Uno de los mejores bares en los que he estado en Manchester. Great time, make sure you go for the open mic nights or some other live music is playing, it did get rather crowded but the musician Zack really added a lot to the night taking all requests and creating a real fun atmosphere.

Great place. The least pretentious whisky bar we’ve ever visited. Down to earth staff who are genuine, knowledgeable & simply enjoy a decent dram - or 4! Great old fashioned class with a cheeky taster before showcasing 4 very different whisky’s too. Couldn’t recommend this place enough. Also very fairly priced, if you’re after a dram that is a little more special.

I attended a private party. It was really good. No Jack Daniel at the pub🤷‍♂️. That's where lost 1 star. Thanks for great time.

Went to this place in Manchester for a goodbye party with a bunch of friends and we had a very good time, really nice place, amazing drinks especially the old-fashioned whisky cocktail :) Highly recommended if you are visiting Manchester for a great night out.

We had no food but we did have whiskey we came for an open mic to watch keddy sowels perform, it was goddam amazing, stunning performance in fact all the acts were great even the compare whom we'd heard things about because of his legendary put downs to noisy punters but he was very warm and friendly a real believer in the power of words and music I think. That night has to be about the music not about some lary blokes talking obnoxiously loud like most venues!! Good work

Great aesthetics, great sound, excellent array of drinks with attentive and informative staff. The open mic compere was like a threatening David Brent though and soured the atmosphere somewhat.

Had a private function in the basement. Fantastic venue for a party and the staff couldn't do enough for us to ensure the night went perfect, Peter and Ursula were particular brilliant, big thanks 🙂👍

Great vibe to the place unfortunately let down by one bar member, I ordered whisky’s and got served two whisky’s unfortunately the bill came to more than expected - I asked for a receipt- I had been charged for three instead of two. When challenged the bar member (who I’d seeing doing shots all night) got aggressive and accused me of lying. I asked for the manager and he said he was was. Fail to believe the manager would have a white ring round his nose but that’s besides the point. I wish the real manager would contact me.

Really good place for up and coming live music if you chose the right night. A really good selection of drinks - especially Whiskey… predictably - served by friendly and professional bar staff . Could be great, IF, the compare will just chill out and let the vibe be cool.
