We asked our B&B hostess for a dinner recommendation, adding that we prefer pubs to fancy restaurants, and she recommended The Wheatsheaf. The food was good and the staff was friendly. Just right!

This is our favourite restaurant. They are always accommodating no matter what and can always produce a really nice meal in a relaxed environment. I can’t really fault the place. They have a small beer garden at the from and you can eat there, it’s really lovely. The food has always been good value and really well cooked. The people are just so nice and friendly that even my hubby, who is autistic and struggles with social things sometimes, feels comfortable and welcome. Great value for money and I wholly recommend a trip.

This is a centuarys old inn . Lovely garden to the side great on a summers day. The lounge bar is lovely old world charm with traditional thick walls and an open log fire. The staff are friendly efficient and add to the experience. The menu is varied and the quality of food is good for a pub come restaurant. Ingredients are fresh well prepared and nicely presented. The deserts are a real crowd pleaser and vary by the day. Good selection of wines and spirits all at a reasonable price. Expect to spend £25 per head with drinks etc mains are around the £8 15 range. In summary it is always a pleasure to visit.

Having not been in this restaurant for a year at least we popped in on the spur of the moment. Always a warm welcome from the staff. Not much had changed on the menu since our last visit. We both had the soup which was tasty and warmed us both up on a cold day. I went for my old favourites,, beef olives. As always very nice. My partner went for the fish dispatch she) loved. Makes a nice change from the pubs and restaurants belong to the larger groups in the area.

Meal was average . Stir fry sauce tasted vey like a well known cook in sauce and service very slow. However was busy and didn't seem to have enough staff . That said staff were very pleasant

Popped in with the family for a lunch last summer its a nice place with good food and a good bar there was six of us and we all enjoyed the food very much, the service was excellent the staff lovely and couldn't do enough for us. The Wheatsheaf Inn has a very nice feel to it with so I would recommend it for a romantic night with your partner or an afternoon with your wife and kids.

Used to walk down to this place from Coodham once a fortnight but then they started getting food wrong and staff justndid not give a hoot. Its a pub a wee but pricey for a village pub. But thats what it is. Ordered two curries, two steak pies and fish and chips. All awful. Told them no onions in the curry ALL ONIONS. Sent it back they kept same plate and picked out onions and we got back messy plate with hardly any meat on it. So sent back again. Then couldn't eat what came back. Complained to bar and eventually after 15 minutes of arguing and back and forth they offered alternative. Steak pie effort came out. It was cheap and nasty. The fish and chips where average at best

My wife and I often have lunch at the Wheatsheaf and on occassion invite friends. The menu is extensive and goes well beyond what is commonly referred to as Pub-grub. Highly recommended for lunch or dinner without breaking the bank.

Have visited this restaurant on many occasions over last 10 years, but since the original owner retired I don't think the service, surroundings or prices for what you get is up to that much now. Went recently for a meal with husband and our order was scarce to say the least and the price was over the top for what we had. Won't hurry back, such a shame as it used to be so good

We've been to The Wheatsheaf Inn on a number of occasions and there's only been 1 disappointment but to be fair they took my dish off the bill after they noticed I didn't eat it because the chicken had a few big veins running through it (obviously not their fault) so all in all I can't complain at all. Our food has always been very tasty and tastes like home made food just the way we like it. Every dish I've ever had has been fantastic so I'd highly recommend The Wheatsheaf Inn to anyone who wants the home cooked meal experience.

A slow service indeed. Lots of hype about this place. God knows why? As the food was average and the service slow. Poor range of wines.

Usually eat here and never had an issue. Today we called and waiting 15 minutes and not served. Approached the counter and older lady said it was table service and take a seat. (We knew this but had waited). Sat back down and waited nearly another 15 minutes and nobody took our order. We were walked past several times by staff and ignored. Left and went elsewhere. Really disappointed at being made to feel so embarrassed after others noticed clearly and those arriving after us were served. Will sadly not return as left to feel like we were deliberately being ignored. Completely embarrassing experience.

Popped in for a morning tea and scone. The service was really good, the price was very reasonable and the scone was good with plenty of jam.

We live between Deeside and Dorset and rarely in Ayrshire but down for wedding and decided to go to Scott’s as knew the owners through business over 20 years ago when they just had a couple of places & heard a lot about their massive success . Honestly , we couldn’t fault it and … we eat out a lot . From a genuinely lovely welcome from Beth to excellent service from all the staff ( Isabelle was particularly charming & efficient ) - wonderful choice of menu , terrific cuisine and good value for money …. With a charming view . Some people look to find fault wherever they go but , we genuinely found Scott’s faultless ( inc toilets , decor etc etc ) . Absolutely SUPERB - 10/10- well be back and Soon 🥂

The sandwich was simple but nice enough. Tasty cheese and ham. The macaroni was awful. Cold sludge made from cheap ingredients. Possibly the worst I've had. The place itself is fine but they really need to review their catering. It could be so much better

What a wonderful shop and cafe the hub of the local community. The manger Alex and Young worker Becca are fabulous such excellent customer service. I'm currently walking the entire UK coast path solo for the RNLI with my Big agnes tent Aggie since July 4th over 7,600 walked and I am staying at a campsite nearby yo rest a sore ankle. Wow I arrived and was treated like a local welcomed in offered coffee and cake. The atmosphere was heartwarming everyone happy picking up provisions hot food or stopping by for a chat. A lost dog was found and kept amd cuddled by a staff member till the happy owner arrived to claim his doggy ❤️ fully recommend this wonderful place. Thank yoy manager Alex 5 star .
