Very rude staff very snobby people in that end. Nothing interesting very boring old people area no one got smile 😒

Awful awful awful. Do not go here for a Sunday roast. Our food took over an hour an half to come we asked 3 times and got completely ignored. Tried to order a drink so many times was impossible. When the food did come the portions were TINY. 5£ for a side off potatoes where we recieved 3 potatos!! Our roast dinner had ONE tiny carrot on it. Probably the worst roast dinner and pub experience I’ve ever had. I don’t write reviews but this was so bad I had too. DO NOT GO HERE

Amazing Sunday roast. Huge portions and delicious Yorkshire pudding with pigs in blankets! Definitely will be coming back. Our server Kadir was great!

I was here for a lamp swinging session with retired work colleagues. Once the tweed clad horse racing hoorays had left it was a very pleasant evening. Beer was good, lamp swinging excellent.

Met up with friends and sat by the bar. The pub itself is cosy, clean and has a nice atmosphere. The staff are so lovely, they were attentive and the service was brilliant. We ordered starters and mains and I would say the food was the icing on the cake… there was a great menu from which to choose from and none of us were disappointed with what we ordered… soup if the day, prawns and mushrooms for starters and delicious burger, satay salad and gnocchi for mains… so nice… will be visiting again.. on top of everything else, there was ample parking… 10/10 for sure…

Had a truly excellent Sunday Roast here. Full of flavour. Surprisingly delicious potatoes(!). Great, friendly team, including Tēa who was tremendous. Would definitely recommend. We’ll be back soon!

Great food excellent service and good atmosphere

We’ve been coming here for over five years. It’s a beautiful pub inside and out, beautifully styled but still with a warm buzzy atmosphere. The service is always very friendly. Sadly in the past year the menu and its normally varied, lovely options for vegetarians have all but disappeared. Reading reviews - this seems to be a commonly held opinion and regular complaint but nothing seems to have been done. The starters are good- the mushroom rarebit is delicious and a firm favourite and they also have tomato and cheese croquettes. For main they don’t even offer any vegetarian options. Just 2 full vegan options, which if the chef bothered to check - are different diets and veggies and vegans have very different requirements in dishes. Why haven’t you finally addressed this?

A great pub and one of my favourite places in Surrey to eat. I've had a few things on the menu, but I always come back to the liver and mash. The beautiful manageress, Micha, informs me that everything in the kitchen is made from scratch, including the deserts. Highly recommend 👌

Excellent food really slow service. We had to wait an hour for our food order to be taken. No interaction from the staff had to ask for everything. It was not busy with only half the tables booked I can see why. Service wise and customer engagement much more required, which was disappointing compared with my previous visit.

Disappointing! Booked a table for Sunday lunch yesterday for my husband and I for Father’s Day. We were seated on a table for 2 near the tills and were forgotten about. Had to ask for someone to take our order after waiting for around 15 minutes and not getting any service. The server took our order and was so standoffish (lady in red top) and literally a second later said ‘ummm what did you order?’ We ordered the same - 2 roast beefs, so I found that a bit odd. Maybe a notepad would help next time. My food arrived first and my husband’s shockingly came out 10 minutes later. Half of my food was gone, so we didn’t quite get the chance to eat together. Awful roast potatoes! Worst I have had anywhere. Im giving a 2 stars because the beef and sticky toffee pudding were nice.

A bit of a shame. Would have always rated a 5* for the past 6-7 years but returned after not having visited for a little while has lost its magic a bit. Sat in the front where it's order & pay at the bar and just casual dining. Ordered a 'tapas'-like meal of bar bites and starters. Starting with the good, the mushroom rarebit, ham & cheese croquettes and whitebait were lovely. Really enjoyable and flavoursome. But a few dishes let them down including the chilli chicken wings and calamari & courgette fritters. At first, put it down to just an unlucky wing, tried another to give the benefit of the doubt, then the other of the two of us tried one to see if it was just individual opinion. In fairness...that's 3 of the 4 small wings on the plate, but we just left the fourth as they weren't enjoyable and we had plenty of good dishes. Not wildly unpleasant enough to complain outright. When collecting our plates, the waiter asked how everything was and saw we'd not finished the chicken wings, so we just said they were a bit dry and bland but that we loved the rarebit and croquettes. Waiter was really friendly and he cracked a joke, asked if we wanted to raise it as a proper complaint which we said we didn't feel strongly. No big deal made of it and had already paid so not angling at getting the dish comped off the bill. Thought nothing more of it. As we were leaving maybe half an hour later, the Chef was at the bar with one of the bar staff making snide comments under his breath, and THAT'S what's actually bothered us enough to review. We'd been fine just leaving it, or would actually have preferred the chef come up to the table and challenging us/asking for more detail if he felt particularly strongly about it. But for a grown man to snarkily mutter "oh is that them?" and "can't have been that bad if you ate 3 wings" in a catty way just left a bad taste (ironic). An interesting choice of career if you're precious about mild critique on some chicken wings and ignore complements on other dishes, in an industry designed around asking customers for feedback...unprofessional, petty and churlish. All other staff pleasant and helpful though so a shame it just rubbed us up the wrong way. Would genuinely have been easier to just whinge about us behind closed doors at back-of-house 🤷🏻‍♂️.

I came in on Sunday with a group of friends, having lived in the area for a few months I thought id try it out after hearing positives things about food and staff. We came for a Sunday dinner food was great and staff were really attentive and happy to assist. Would definitely recommend.

Went for mums birthday with family& two toddlers .Service was great& food to mum had a smaller meal which was just the right size for her.

We had a nice evening with friends The service from Te`a was excellent really helpful and attentive and smiley. I was a little disappointed in my Chicken dish but my friends enjoyed their food

I’ve been coming to the Wheatsheaf with my wife for 10years. We have always been served with smile and always felt welcomed by the team. The Wheatsheaf is consistently fantastic and by far the best pub in Surrey! Huge thumbs up to great people there. Respect! 🤘

Very busy Saturday night. Buzzing atmosphere. Bit crowded. Service good initially but rather slow to deliver main courses. Food nice especially the starters. The sea bream was overcooked and hence very dry though pleasant tasting.

We got the time of our booking wrong& they very kindly found a table for us. Highly recommend. Good choice on the menu & a specials board. Food was delicious definitely recommend the pie on the special board Staff were very welcoming and friendly. Toilets were spotless.

The wheatsheaf is our absolute favourite! We celebrated my 40th birthday there last night. We had about 50 people there and the venue was perfect! Zee and the team there looked after us so well, and took care with our requests. The food and drink was amazing, and everyone had a great night!!

Disappointing overall. Had arrived with hopes of a great late lunch as reviews are overall good and as a local(ish) who on occasion drinks here wanted to try the food. Starters were an omen for what was to come sad to say; calamari and courgette fritters, well fritters they were not, just sliced fried courgette. However not a crispy bite to be had as all, incl. calamari was oily and limp. Satay chicken, I do have to say tasty yes but no mention on menu that they would be cold, finally smoked mackerel pate was again nice but hardly a spoon full so lots of bread but little topping - left disappointed. Mains were not a whole lot better; beef was tough and pretty well done and roasties were so drowned in gravy as to have lost any of their crisp outer which was a shame, pork was ok although a little dry tbh and NO CRACKLING!!!! was told hey don't do it???side veggies looked as though prepared for a baby's meal very very finely chopped. Lastly fish and chips, well once my son has fought his way through the inch thick batter the fish was ok - not much more can be said. To be fair staff did bring more beef, though was only marginally better and more roasties again improvement marginal but by that time the opinion of the table was unfortunately set. We did as a gesture get the drinks at the table refunded which was appreciated, thankyou, but not sure we'd return sadly.

Dinner for four. Reunion with dear friends. Everyone’s meal was great and the Friday evening atmosphere was lively but not too loud. Wheatsheaf never disappoints. Staff are all great.

Went for lunch 2 people had rib eye steak which cost £32 and it was the worst steak ever. Chewy, tasteless, just horrible. Had the satay chicken salad it was very average, again tasteless. Very disappointing food won’t be going back

Two people paid £32 each for a so called rib eye steak…….please take this off your menu it is embarrassing

I was so pleased we booked a private room to celebrate a get together with friends at the Wheatsheaf, Esher. The room was perfect for us all and the staff were incredibly accommodating. They managed to adapt to various requests regarding splitting the bill. The service was timely and the food was really tasty. It made it a seamless and really enjoyable experience for us and I’d like to thank the manager who looked after us that shift.

Our initial greeting was very odd, the lady didn’t even speak. Took our name and showed us to a table with gestures, it was so strange! If we asked for anything it was interpreted as a total inconvenience to her. The food was fine but very expensive at £32 for a small steak, it was busy and had a nice atmosphere but the staff need to work on their people skills and the food portions align with the prices!

We were a large group for a 70th birthday and had Sunday roasts which was nice. The staff were fantastic esp the young staff members who served our large table. They were so polite and helpful. Loved their attitude towards their work as it made our experience there that much more enjoyable.

Food was very basic. All pre packaged and microwaved. Expensive for what is presented.

We thoroughly enjoyed the whole meal. My boyfriend loved his fish cake and the sausage / mash very tasty.

Pricy beer. Extremely slow internet service. Just walk to the bar.
