Always a fantastic atmosphere in this superbly well managed bar and restaurant. Comfortable and relaxing, the service from Pascal and his two excellent Colleagues, and the food is always first class from a small but very happy band of highly competent Staff.

Went for a roast, lovely local pub and the roast is fab. Was particularly busy and the wait was long, but the waiter did say it would be 40 mins Nd with good wine and good company it’s all good. Food is still fab and worth the wait and Pascal was amazing.

Lovely evening out with local friends and good food, service, etc. However, the significant downside, and reason for 3 stars, was the lack of any external lighting, which had apparently not been working for some time, when I reported it. When I left it was pitch black, slippery in the cold weather, and my friend actually fell on the unseen speed bump. When reported, the response was off-hand and I felt not taken seriously. Disappointing end to a lovely evening.

Lovely setting, warm and welcoming pub. Ample car parking ( although it was quite full on the evening we attended). This was a pre-booked Xmas staff. Service was quick and attentive. Food was OK… perhaps what you would expect from a pub at that time of the year. I am keen to visit again and try their standard pub menu.

Service was awful and the food was poor. Very disappointed as it looked like a really nice place and the beer was excellent. I think there were problems in the kitchen.

Ah, new chef apparently and couldn't figure timings because our food took 45 mins to arrive on a quiet weekday. Three meals badly over cooked/left to dry out and one OK (perhaps the one that was being waited for). Water forgotten for table, staff attentive, then not, waited to give a coffee order and gave up when no-one came over to take it. Said they were having a bad day, and did remove the cost of a main. Such a shame, we had friends for lunch who we don't see very often, and thought it would be a lovely midday treat. Hope chef improves!

Food was burnt black. We weren’t asked how the meal was before our plates were taken away (with burnt food left on it). Clean toilets. Lovely vibe in the restaurant.

A great place for Sunday lunch, food anytime and/or for a couple of pints with the family/friends. We went for Sunday lunch and it was very good. Delicious roasts, starters and pudding ! And the Managers & Staff are delightful, always cheery, helpful and welcoming. Thank you Z, Micha & Hannah and all the waitering and kitchen staff.

Will be back. Bit of a delay between starter and main but not too bad as a busy Saturday lunchtime. Lots of young children…but not too noisy! Nice art / decoration. Merci Pascal.

Arrived in cold weather starving, we were welcomed by Pascal and attended to at a cosy table. Starter and main course were served timely, nice and warm. An enjoyable occasion with a touch of ‘je ne sais quoi’

We had a super time on Saturday at the Wheatsheaf, following our afternoon of pumpkin picking! We were a large group (30 in total!) and were made to feel so welcome. Zee and her colleagues were fabulous, I cannot fault them, especially as we had several children trying to cause chaos 🤦🏼‍♀️. Even when I messed up our order (so sorry again!) staff were polite, friendly and understanding. The food was delicious and drinks options great. Would definitely recommend!

As regulars we noticed that both the menu options and the dishes portions have shrunk!

Excellent menu, food, wine list and service from Tea and the manageress, all made it a really good dinner.

Thursday night at the pub - the shepherd’s pie special was awesome as was the red cabbage. Great choice of wines and cosy friendly atmosphere. It was super busy and staff friendly and efficient. Will visit again. Thank you

Best place in Esher. The food is very nice. But Friday lunch was too busy and loud for us

The food was lovely, although they had run out of roast beef and the side vegetables with the roast where very small, and no celeriac mash. The restaurant is loud, so I found it difficult to hear my husband, and service was very slow. Our meals came out and then the veg followed 10 mins later. I asked for the bill at the end of our meal and then about 10 mins later the same waitress brought us dessert menus. I asked for the bill again which came fairly promptly and then left waiting to pay , so i just went to the front desk. I do not think I would visit again.

I came here for a family dinner last week and I really can’t fault this place. We didn’t have a booking but we were show a lovely table in the restaurant. The waitress recommended the specials and I had the treacle glazed pork steak and it was 10/10. My partner had the fish and chips and she said it was very tasty. The service was fantastic, all the staff were very friendly. I would highly recommend and looking forward to going back.

Using the private room at the wheatsheaf a party of 18 enjoyed an 80th birthday . Pleased to recommend as we’re delighted with great menu, good food and really high level of service. Thank you

I attend a breakfast meeting once a week at the Wheatsheaf, Zee & Hannah are just wonderful hosts, welcoming & so friendly. The breakfasts are fresh cooked & delicious - the dining room area is authentic & tastefully done. Highly recommend 🙌🙌

Having been several times before we were quite disappointed with our food, which lacked flavour.

Quiet Sunday late lunch - very cosy interior.

I usually love The Wheatsheaf however this not the best experience. The food, when it eventually arrived, was fine but by then I would have eaten anything. Very busy Friday night. Service was non-existent. Waited ages for drinks and food.

Great place with super food! The avocado mash home-made bread with poached eggs and salmon - is a complete breakfast to dream of. My mouth is watering only when I'm writing about it ... :)) Seriously - go and try it for yourself

Started with sharing a Fishcake, which was ok but watery spinach made everything taste watery. For main I had trout fillet, which had 5 bones left in and with a creamy sauce I thought it would be tastier. My husband had the calves liver which was fine but could have done with more mash. All dishes lacked seasoning

I’ve know Zee since she took over the Wheatsheaf I have always noticed such a personal and friendly service this reflects very strongly with all the rest of her team. She clearly leads from the top down that clearly reflects the fantastic service I always get.

Great spot for a morning meeting, great coffee, I decided to stay for lunch and was blown away by my lunch. My server, the manager, was amazing, professional and charming, highly recommend

We have been visiting this pub since we moved to Esher 15 years ago, it just keeps getting better and better. The food is amazing, and their Sunday roasts are the best by far. All the staff are real credit to the business. They are trained to a really high standard, are really friendly, polite and always go the extra mile. We regularly bring friends and family as we know everything will be perfect, every time! I would highly recommend The Wheatsheaf as it’s perfect every time we visit!

Last year, we came to The Wheatsheaf quite regularly and thoroughly enjoyed the food and service. We came back for the first time in a while for lunch, today, and it’ll probably be the last for a while too. We sat in the main dining area. Our server was not particularly friendly or engaging, which didn’t start things off well. The menu looked delicious, and we decided to share a the Chicken & Ham Croquettes as a starter. I opted for the Roast Pork, and my partner chose the Burger. The starter arrived quite quickly and was very tasty, although the chicken in them was a little overcooked. It then took a LONG time for the main to arrive. It finally came about 75 mins after we’d first ordered and was a real let down. The Pork was extremely tough and chewy, with a poor attempt at Crackling. The burger was mediocre at best, with a side of onion rings that tasted as if they’d been cooked in very old oil. Such a shame as this used to be some of the best pub food around.

I come into the Wheatsheaf every so often and I wanted to take the time to write a review after my meal on Sunday. I had a roast and the food was superb as it always is. The service is constant throughout all the staff. I can’t recommend this pub enough!

Awful awful awful. Do not go here for a Sunday roast. Our food took over an hour an half to come we asked 3 times and got completely ignored. Tried to order a drink so many times was impossible. When the food did come the portions were TINY. 5£ for a side off potatoes where we recieved 3 potatos!! Our roast dinner had ONE tiny carrot on it. Probably the worst roast dinner and pub experience I’ve ever had. I don’t write reviews but this was so bad I had too. DO NOT GO HERE

Amazing Sunday roast. Huge portions and delicious Yorkshire pudding with pigs in blankets! Definitely will be coming back. Our server Kadir was great!

I was here for a lamp swinging session with retired work colleagues. Once the tweed clad horse racing hoorays had left it was a very pleasant evening. Beer was good, lamp swinging excellent.

Met up with friends and sat by the bar. The pub itself is cosy, clean and has a nice atmosphere. The staff are so lovely, they were attentive and the service was brilliant. We ordered starters and mains and I would say the food was the icing on the cake… there was a great menu from which to choose from and none of us were disappointed with what we ordered… soup if the day, prawns and mushrooms for starters and delicious burger, satay salad and gnocchi for mains… so nice… will be visiting again.. on top of everything else, there was ample parking… 10/10 for sure…

We had a lovely Sunday afternoon family get together with great food and drink. And looked after very well by the staff. First visit and would highly recommend.

Had a truly excellent Sunday Roast here. Full of flavour. Surprisingly delicious potatoes(!). Great, friendly team, including Tēa who was tremendous. Would definitely recommend. We’ll be back soon!

We’ve been coming here for over five years. It’s a beautiful pub inside and out, beautifully styled but still with a warm buzzy atmosphere. The service is always very friendly. Sadly in the past year the menu and its normally varied, lovely options for vegetarians have all but disappeared. Reading reviews - this seems to be a commonly held opinion and regular complaint but nothing seems to have been done. The starters are good- the mushroom rarebit is delicious and a firm favourite and they also have tomato and cheese croquettes. For main they don’t even offer any vegetarian options. Just 2 full vegan options, which if the chef bothered to check - are different diets and veggies and vegans have very different requirements in dishes. Why haven’t you finally addressed this?

A great pub and one of my favourite places in Surrey to eat. I've had a few things on the menu, but I always come back to the liver and mash. The beautiful manageress, Micha, informs me that everything in the kitchen is made from scratch, including the deserts. Highly recommend 👌

Excellent food really slow service. We had to wait an hour for our food order to be taken. No interaction from the staff had to ask for everything. It was not busy with only half the tables booked I can see why. Service wise and customer engagement much more required, which was disappointing compared with my previous visit.

No problem parking. Warm welcome, Excellent service. Outstanding beef! Roll on next visit.
