The Wernley in Sandwell

Tried this pub twice now and will now use it as my regular for meals out. I travel about 4 miles each way and its worth it. Food is absolutely fantastic. The chef should be praised for the quality and presentation. Bar and serving staff are attentive and professional. Beer is served cold . Would definitely advise people to try here. Plenty of parking. Would advise booking a table on busy nights,Thursday to Sunday

As a frequent user of the Wernley mainly to have a drink and watch the football I must say there is always a great welcome and atmosphere. It may be a little busy at times but you can quickly get served with good quality beer and a laugh from the staff. Please keep it up ready for the next season!

It was pretty busy when we visited. Could only see two serving and running food. Our party of six was served promptly, and even though they were busy, our food came pretty quickly, too. It was presented lovely and was hot and tasty. Didn't catch any of the teams names, but thank you both for an enjoyable visit we will return.

The meals are getting smaller and the menu said my meal came with mango chucky but didn't the order got messed up the attitude of some waiters are disgusting. The drinks and pudding were nice.

First time here for years, everything was very good, service was great and food was delicious and excellent value, very clean and good atmosphere.

Fantastic meal last night ( chicken fajitas ), great staff and thanks to the chef who also deserves a mention. Wife had mixed starters which she enjoyed.

Family breakfast for Christmas Eve, 13 in total. Pub was busy but service was quick and friendly by Maggie, Andy & Octavia. Food was lovely.

I'm a regular visitor to this pub, mainly because the food is good. On this occasion I had been badly let down. I am diabetic and I ordered a pespsi max. When I though the drink I been served was a normal pepsi, I asked Andrew to confirm what he had given me. He rudely replied "you got what you asked for!" I told him I was diabetic but that didn't bother him. I left the drink after a few sips. When I got home I had to go to bed with a severe headache. This could have been much more serious. I'm sure this was due to being served the wrong drink. They need to listen and take more care. So much so we cancelled our next booking and booked a table elsewhere

We had a large group booking on a Sunday afternoon. The staff were able to accommodate us all and the food arrived hot and timely! A big thanks to all of the staff who did a great job, we will definitely book here again. We could order on the website or at the bar which made it easy for everybody. They didn’t mind the kids getting in the way at times and were very friendly - big thanks again!

Popped in on passing, really friendly staff and a good varied, reasonably priced menu. Food was really nice and would highly recommend the Chinese pork belly thanks to Julie and mandy saying how nice it was. Will definitely be back with family.

I visited the Wernley with friends on a Wednesday to have a catch up as we haven’t met for a while and what a lovely evening we had. Food was great and they had a good selection of drinks at reasonable prices. Staff were friendly and very attentive with a good sense of humour!! Would definitely recommend and hope not to leave it so long next time!!.

Terrible staff.Rude. Didn't say "Hello" or "Good evening", No eye contact .Every time we went to get more drinks, we had to wait until the girls finished their conversation in a side room, where they could easily see that customers were waiting. All the 'regular' customers were saying that this was the normal service at The Wernley., and to add insult, to injury those girls never announce 'last orders', they SHOUTED at everyone to "get out you lot, we've got kids to get up for", Luke was the only polite person on duty that spoke to us.

Great food & fantastic staff. Absolutely love this place great food with great prices. Totally recommend the surf & turf that's my personal favourite!

We found The Wernley entirely by accident when trying to turn the car around in order to eat at the Chiquitos at the end of the road. We decided to go in to the pub instead and wow, we made the right choice. Chicken fajitas, the chicken platter, a side of chips and 2 alcoholic drinks cake to a very reasonable £28, and we realised it was even more reasonable when the food arrived; the portions are generous! Absolutely delicious food - my partner completely demolished his chicken platter and particularly liked the choice of sauces offered. I was so full from the fajitas I didn't need the side of chips so had to leave them but not before trying a couple. Overall, we are really impressed with the food quality and quantity. We only spoke to one staff member but she was lovely, and the atmosphere is really lovely and relaxed. I loved the look of a few things on the menu, so we will be back, and bringing my father in law so he can take advantage of the ridiculously good over 60s deal!

We went to eat with some friends to the Wernley as they had recommended it as a nice place to sit and eat and relax. Food was nice. Service was good and as we left they asked us if we would like to get Emails from them with special offers. Overall a nice comfortable place to go and eat or just have a drink . Give it a try and see for yourself.

On an overnight stay at the nearby budget hotel we wanted somewhere to eat with our grandson and chose this place as we had a dining card we could use here. Maybe it was because there was a football match on but this seems to be more of a public house type place than a family eating place. Almost every table was full of men and none of them understood the concept of talking as opposed to shouting to each other. Food was of the standard in these type of places, but I was able to order a child's dessert for myself with no questions asked

We reserved a table for 8 at very short notice (20 mins), and was welcomed with such great service at the bar, the menu and prices were such good value. We waited less than half an hour for the food which was delicious. Will definitely be returning soon

Visited the Wernley for my sons birthday , we sat at car end of restaurant near the kitchen ( table 19) . While the food was good ( after they corrected a mistake with the order) our meal was ruined , we couldn't hear ourselves speak over the loud music coming from the kitchen , then to truly add to our Wernley experienced ,everytime a particular waiter ( american? Accent) went into the kitchen we were treated to a very loud torrent of disgusting foul language (c word , f word , oh we were treated to it all ,) It was so loud i actually recorded it on my phone !!! When I sent to bar to order desserts i asked the person serving me if he was the manager _ assistant manager he said, I pointed out what was happening and how disgusting the language was , his comment was _ oh that doesn't normally happen , NO APOLOGY, he then said I'll go and tell him to apologise ????? WHAT !!! I sent back to table and shortly after the assistant manager walked into kitchen and told the waiter to come and apologise , didn't do anything else . The w winter did come and apologise but said I've been told I'm to loud ???,. What about the language. Absolutely disgusted at what we had to listen to and the way the 'assistant manager' dealt with it , he acted like it was a big inconvenience me even saying anything. Disgusted !!!!!!

The service at the bar took too long and the staff were as miserable as sin. When we were eventually served we were told food would be 20 minutes. However, it actually took 35 minutes, and when it came, the food was stodgy and tasteless.

A very good experience for a Christmas Day meal & although we were on the 4 o'clock sitting, therefore the staff would've been on duty for several hours, we were still served with a smile. Food was good & served promptly & hot but we didn't feel rushed. Ample choice for each course & plenty to eat. Very good value for money. Our second Christmas Day lunch & it didn't disappoint . Not before time the wernley has recently undergone a recent facelift which has been a positive step forward, food and drinks are ok and competitively priced for the area. Some of the Evening staff have attitude issues towards customer's, which if addressed would put this family pub at the forefront of pubs in the local area.

Another lovely visit to the newly refurbished Wernley follow by shopping at Aldi just down the road. The pub is freshly decorated and the bar staff are obviously friendly. It seems that a lot of locals use the pub but unlike other places you don't feel the outsider when you visit a few times a year. The menu is extensive with meals from £4 each for two people. The battered mushrooms as a side are good at £2.49 for a good sized portion. Cheaper beer prices are also a bonus without the 25% hike up as you go to Harborne and town. The food is well cooked but a let down the water injected chicken which makes the texture rubbery. This however was cooked as well as it could be together with pork ribs. Use offer vouchers and AA membership discount to get 20% off. Well worth the visit.

Came here for lunch, had meal deal which was good value, fishcakes were lovely and staff were friendly. My only criticisms would be slightly sticky table and coffee was only luke warm but would recommend and would come back.

This pub is a great place to go for a cheap and filling meal. I ordered the Battered Halloumi and Chips with Onion Rings and an orange juice and it came to £10. The portions sizes are generous and the food was prompt and hot. The service was pleasant too.

We went here on the way back from an appointment as we frequent other Sizzling pubs and find them to be good. We had to wait to be served at the bar and when I asked for one of the cask ales was told there were none. I asked a question about the bitter and the response was "bitter is bitter".

I always visit this pub if I visit Birmingham as our relatives live within walking distance. Always great beer and atmosphere. Outside patio is great in the summer.

Large pub, where a lot of locals go, either men to have a pint on their own, pensioners or families. Really good value pub food, none of this made-from-scratch pricey stuff, just inexpensive hot meals from a good menu. Staff always friendly in a proper Black Country way, so it's a relaxed atmosphere. Plenty of free parking and cheap enough to go fairly often. The place doesn't go out of its way to impress, just does what it's there for.

Average at best, this newly refurbished pub is a glorified dining room.

This was one of our favourite drinking and dining places. It was re-vamped last month. Looks great! Lovely and clean, all the changes are good. The food is excellent and cheap, would certainly recommend it. However. the waiting time to be served is poor. The bar is certainly short staffed, we had to wait 10 minutes on two occasions to get served. Otherwise.....(if you can stand the wait), good vaue for money.

Went for a Father's Day Breakfast with my family. Only opened the night before after a long overdue refurbishment. As always food was good. My grandchildren really like going to this Sizzling pub for meals. It was busier than usual but we enjoyed it. I particularly like the 5oz Steak & Egg American style breakfast - sets me up for the day. Quite impressed with the refurbishment. Must be quite difficult to effect on what is a Grade 2 Listed Building.

Took my Dad and family on Father's day, second day after reopening. The decor looked ok but service was awful. Lady behind bar who appeared to be the Manager was so miserable. I don't go into a bar to see unhappy grumpy members of staff. Placed a food order, some dishes had to go back, had to wait for lots of things....not whar you'd expect after just reopening. I think money should be spent on customer service here as it really did let it down.

Wow we had table service today and Lauren , Kieran and Richie were fantastic. Love that service and wow the training has paid off.

Went to this pub over the weekend and have to say the managers attitude was very poor, the staff work well, but this pub would greatly improve with a new manager after the upcoming refurbishment.

My wife and I visited this pub Feb in2018. This is a sizzler pub, so basic pub grub and reasonable prices. I ordered the rump steak and chips. npow normally I order steak to be well done and I find it usually done medium, which is how I want it. However this steak was well done. Not to worry, that's my fault so no problem there. So anyway we went back a few days later and this time I ordered steak medium. Well to be honest I think iy was well done again. But never mind the rest of the meal was okay and I could still eat the steak, my wife had fish and chips which seemed to be okay.

Good value hot food served well. No suprises, you get exacrtly what it says on the menu. We particularly ike their breakfasts, steak and chicken sizzlers. Clean surroundings, large car park, suitable for disabled, clean and tidy.

This pub needs a refurbishment- NOW , not in the near future but NOW.

We went for food on a Saturday night we had not eaten here before. We ordered two burgers and chips and when it came the chips were so over done we left most of them, the burger was burnt and bacon could have been warmer...

This used to be a lovely pub and restaurant but visited yesterday for a meal and couldn't believe how disgusting the restaurant was. Broken window with the curtain pulled across to cover the draft as they had only protected it with cardboard on the outside....
