The Wenvoe Arms in The Vale of Glamorgan

Dropped in here without a booking last Friday tea time and managed to get a table for 2. Young lady who greeted us at Bar was excellant very friendly and very welcoming.Place was set out very nice food and service was excellant. I ordered the scotch egg for starter which was presented very nicely and we ordered Pork Belly and Faggots & Peas for mains.both were very good. Unfortunately our visit was cut short by a family with an uncontrollable toddler which was a shame because we really enjoyed visiting this lovely pub. Will definately visit again hopefully next time without the noisey nipper and loud grandmother. Thank you Wenvoe Arms team especially the lovely young lady that greeted us. Kind Regards Andrew

Popped into our local for a quick drink on Sunday afternoon- decided to get a take away Pizza which was great decision. Quality and taste spot on.

No good for 2 days when we stayed in Wenvoe on Vishwell campsite so had a drink. Red wine was off...old stock.

I'm Scottish so the chicken and mushroom pie was dry..

Had dinner here in the evening. There were spicy dishes that had chicken and beef. Both were very tasty and well seasoned. Nice atmosphere, both waitresses very nice, prices fair.. Would love to come back.

First time here, and we were made very welcome . Lovely staff . Food was very good , I would recommend it, especially if your staying at vishwell farm caravan site .

Thursday night is pie night and it’s hard to find a better Steak and Ale Pie for miles. 2 for £20 is excellent value!

The locals are friendly (most don't bite..) but if ya looking for a warm welcome from the Landlady you'd better hope someone's lit the fire. Don't know if the foods improved or any good as can't afford to eat there.

Rated it so low due to the landlady's attitude, she's so rude and for this reason I would not recommend take your money elsewhere

Utterly Awful on all fronts service and food very poor and over priced for what we had. When we arrived a request to sit near fire for my mum was declined and told it's not cold the heating is on. Fair enough as we would of taken a table of 4 for 2 of us. But please speak a bit more respectful not muttering to the chef lady said it was cold the heating is on this was overheard. Appreciate the lady serving was running about and we weren't don't be so defensive and rude in your tone and manner . Served a drink and menu within minutes can't fault that. . Curry of the day ordered and this was chicken and beef. Beef extremely tough; chicken curry was watery and no flavour at all. Poppadoms were stale and fair to say so was the service and certainly no after service. We left a lot and when paid no check from the lady I guess landlady if everything was ok. Shame as we eat out a lot and and fair to say worse meal had out in years and now we probably guess why many tables were empty. Won't be returning and I would think about what you order as home made curry beef and curry very bland and watered down. Shame but need to be honest for you to improve on service and quality of food.

Lovely cosy feel to the pub. Waitress was great. Steak pie was a tasty plentiful dish, and service was quick. I would have put 5 stars but the pub served me an alternative brand of drink without explanation or checking, and it certainly didn't taste better than what I'd asked for (as was the reply when I queried it). Good food offers and yes I would return but might skip the drink next time!

Excellent food and service again as always, but a big shame that we were unable to tip by card. Since COVID few people carry cash with maybe the exception of the elderly.. and I fear that these excellent staff are missing out on a lot of extra well earned money because of this inconvenience. Everywhere else allows tipping on card, and I know the card machine in question well. It's very easy to do. I can only assume the reluctance is due to tax purposes or something.

Went with our Welsh family and had a great evening the food was of a high standard and my steak and kidney pie was amazing. Pity it's one hundred and sixty miles from our home as it would definitely turn into a regular place to eat.

A nice village pub with wood-burning stove. Good atmosphere, pleasant service and nice atmosphere. Food was disappointing. Dessert was lovely but the Sunday roast dinner was not very tasty.

Oct 23 - First visit for Sunday lunch. Friendly welcome from landlady & young staff very pleasant. Meal was okay. Good portion of well cooked (not pink) beef and yorkshire pudding was lovely. Veg was over cooked, roasties very big round potatoes not particularly well roasted and gravy was bland like the Bisto variety, lukewarm and had congealed skin in it. Pecan pie was small for price but utterly delicious. Wouldn’t rush back for Sunday lunch but normal pub meals are usually very good. Oct22 - Lunch. Lovely warm welcome, great ambience, good quality delicious food well cooked that arrived piping hot. Staff had a “nothings too much trouble” attitude. Simply wonderful.

So we went for food on a wednesday evening on a summer night. Was told i couldn't eat outside even with all signs saying you can and tables having numbers on !!! Very disgusting, as i had 2 children with special needs and a baby in buggy offered a table tomdoors with mp space for buggy and virtually on top of another table. Also, I couldn't get down from the garden as steps anyway. Staff seemed rude and didn't give a dam. Dont recommend it in any shape or form and will never return. Not wheelchair/family friendly ! Plus side beefeater to the road was amazing and very accommodating, and I told them they hear this regularly about how bad service is at wenvoe arms

Highly recommended village pub and restaurant. There's a dog friendly bar area. There's also a restaurant area which is a dog free area. We were a party of 4 adults and sat in the dog friendly bar area for our meal. Each of us had different meals that included starters, mains and desserts. The atmosphere was friendly and joyful. The staff were chatty and welcoming. The food was excellent, freshly cooked and tasty, with a good variety of choice on the menu that is fairly priced. There's ample parking available in the carpark. We could not fault our visit to this wonderful village pub.

Our friends live in Wenvoe so we visit the restaurant quite often. The food is excellent and the service is also very good. We would definitely recommend 👌

Stopped here for a lunch break. Friendly and attentive staff. I had Faggots with mash and mushy peas in a rich gravy. Delicious. My wife had sausages and mash with peas and gravy. But beware as these were Glamorgan Sausages not mDe of meat but leeks/cheese in breadcrumb coating. Not what she expected so make sure you check if you want meat Sausages.

First time in the Wenvoe Arms today and it was lovely. The landlady very nice and welcoming and took drinks orders straight away. For food I ordered the scampi and my partner ordered the gammon and both meals were perfect and cooked well. The size of the portions were generous and the prices were very fair for what you get. All in all we had a very good experience staff wise and food wise and will definitely be going back very soon.

Nice local pub with plenty of drinks to offer, lovely gardens and nice food too, with very hardworking, polite staff. BUT unfortunately the landlady has a very poor attitude towards the customers, paying very unjustified and extremely rude remarks, with regards to other non alcoholic drinks, (small bottle of fanta) being brought onto the premises and NOT being drunk on the premises as a glass of lemonade was purchased instead from the bar, especially when you have just spent over £100 on food and drink, unfortunately will not be returning nor would I recommend the Wenvoe Arms

Today at the Wenvoe arms I was totally disgusted with how we were treated. My daughter in law joined us her two extremely allergic children. We spent over £100 pounds on food but took two cartons of Ribena for the children. The landlady was extremely rude to my daughter in law saying that only food and drink purchased could be consumed there. Everything my grandson has has to be scrutinised as he’s so allergic to most things. Ribena is one of the very few things he can.have. We tried to explain to the landlady who wouldn’t have any of it and spoke through gritted teeth to my daughter in law. Further to say I hope this goes viral to the surrounding areas ,Rhoose, Pentyrch and St Nicolas which is where we are from. Hence to say we will never frequent these premises again. You have lost affluent customers over a juice box of Ribena.

Lovely location, lovely staff. Bit ridiculous and petty with their policy not letting my 1 year old and 3 year old consume their own drinks despite our large food order. Landlady was beyond rude and quite aggressive in her stance towards her policy that only food or beverages purchased on premises are to be consumed. Would love to see what her take on this would have been to my son and his lactose free milk? Needless to say I will not being going there again. Beyond a joke and very belittling. There is a cost of living crisis be grateful for the custom!

We called in for lunch and a drink on our way to a garden centre. We were welcomed by Raquel and Lisa. Their customer service was excellent for the time we were there. The meal was excellent for the price. The atmosphere was good. We enjoyed talking to Raquel and Lisa. Would recommend this pub and restaurant. Looked after our dog Jensen with water. Thank you both. Another lovely meal at this excellent village pub. My wife and I took her mother for supper and it was pie night. So we had a couple of pies and my mother-in-law had fish and chips which she really enjoyed - making special mention of the chips. My Chicken and mushroom pie was excellent with masses of chicken and a good creamy sauce. The wines were good and the service was very good. The bill for 3 was just £58 = excellent value.

Meal was good but chips where like chip shop chips probably due to them having a chip van out in the car park Found the landlady quite rude saying this the staff were very obliging , the price is a bit high for food menu considering it’s in a village where local people rely on a community think it’s time the landlady should leave and let someone more friendly take it over

I WENT WITH A PARTY OF 14 FOR LUNCH. BECAUSE OF THE NUMBERS WE HAD PREORDERED USING THE MENU SHOWN ON THE WENVOE ARMS WEBSITE. THE FOOD WAS POOR (CHIPS UNDERDONE, PEAS HARD) AND THE MEALS WERE NOT VERY HOT WHEN SERVED. THERE WAS ALSO A SURPRISE WHEN WE RECEIVED THE BILL AS SEVERAL ITEMS WERE MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE THAN THE PRICES SHOWN ON THE MENU ON THEIR WEBSITE - THE MENU SHOWED TWO CURRYS FOR £14 - THEY CHARGED £19, BEEF AND ALE PIE WAS £10 ON THE MENU THEY CHARGED A WHOPPING £16.50 AND FISH & CHIPS, SHOWN AS £12 ON THE MENU WAS £15.50! WE SHALL NOT BE RETURNING!

Extremely disappointed. Greeted by a very rude landlady. Despite having preordered our meals from a menu downloaded on line, we were not able to have the meals at the prices quoted. Food not very nice - peas were undercooked and the chips tasted as if they had been reheated. Grossly overpriced. Never visit there again and certainly will not recommend.

Found landlady to be very rude and my meal was not very good so would not visit again and certainly would not recommend.

We visit the Wenvoe Arms regularly and always have a lovely time, the staff are friendly, warm and have always gone over and above for us. The landlady has always been accommodating and kind to us! Would definitely recommend and the Sunday lunch was great!!!...

Thoroughly enjoyed the meal and excellent service. I marked it down as, as we were about to leave a couple came in with a dog which immediately jumped up onto the seating and was licking the table. As we were leaving they then changed their seats to where we were sitting. I am an animal lover. But, a dogs place is on the floor especially at restaurants. I won't be running back there even though the food was excellent.

Nice friendly atmosphere, with log fire burning in lounge. Big open bar too with large TV for sporting events.

Had a nice Sunday roast and our children thoroughly enjoyed their meal. I was remarking to my husband that we’d return based on how well the children had eaten…then I heard how rude the landlady spoke about one of the staff openly at the bar...

Food is average nothing special and Luke warm, when informing the delightful landlady of this we were scoffed at and ignored. When asking for the bill the lady was unprofessional abrupt and spiteful. Advice to the owners you’re not always right and a hair brush...

We attended a lovely family and friends daughters 21st birthday party meal. Lovely choice of menu will be back.

5 of us had a great meal with good service here when staying nearby ahead of the Six Nations rugby. In particular, the steak and ale pie was excellent. Would recommend based on our experience.

Went here for my mums and sisters birthday food was served cold and when I spoke to the landlord,I felt very belittled and by his wife the food wasn't cooked fresh just rewarmed in a microwave spent £101.55 and then a £20 tax on top never again

The food wasn't cooked properly and when I complained there was no semblance of customer service. The manager was patronising and condescending, adamant the meal was satisfactory, no proper apology. Poor service, such a shame as a lovely pub

I have never come across such a rude landlady in my life. Absolutely no customer service, some meals were poor to mediocre and the fish was undercooked. Woe betide you if you make any comment or complaint. Certainly won't be back.

First time visit and want there as I had heard lots of good things. It was well deserved! They were so accommodating, even though we had a few extra with our party at last minute. The food was all delicious and well presented.

We had the most delicious food last Thursday at the Wenvoe Arms and will be returning. Can highly recommend Steak pie Lamb Shank and Lasagne . The staff were very accommodating and freindly.

Made very welcome, good service. Food overpriced for tiny portions especially the desserts eg £6 for tiny portion of cheesecake.

Grubby table, dirty cutlery and sub standard food. We asked if our table could be cleaned and an elderly lady with short hair (who looked rather unkempt too) told us the table had been ‘wiped over’ and if it wasn’t good enough we could go...

Posh Nosh, great selection of ales, beautiful village pub, plenty of parking at the rear.

Brought the family along for Sunday dinner due to the high ratings. There was only roast beef and roast pork available, and we all chose the mixed plate. The plates came piled high with nice fresh vegetables, with lots of rich gravy, but the slices of meat were rather sparse. I think we will go to a carvery next weekend where we can choose the portions we want and get better value.

Great ales. Food is classic pub grub. In my party of 6 everyone commented that the cauliflower was undercooked. Too hard to eat...

Had a meal at the Wenvoe Arms in Wenvoe near Cardiff last night as staying in the area for a couple of days. We were really impressed by the food, it was excellent and speaking as vegetarians we were very pleased to see that there...

Lovely little pub with plenty of outdoor space. Disappointed as we checked out the menu beforehand but the actual evening menu didn’t bear any resemblance to the actual menu on offer and prices were much more than advertised. They really need to update their website.

It is an authentic place to eat, it has 2 large, very pleasant outdoor terraces, a good variety of draft beers and the food is very good, you can tell that it is all homemade. We loved the site.

My first time here, (and i live local) Very nice establishment. Food was very nice and service was quick. Staff very polite. There is a nice sun terrace too. Will definitely return.
