Used this place as we needed accommodation for a night to visit a local restaurant. A very well appointed and comfortable room. Car parking at the rear also a bonus. Good bar downstairs. The big bonus is the host, John. A very obliging and helpful chap.I cannot comment on the food but, Sunday lunch there is very popular. There is a bit of work in progress but, nothing to worry about. We would use again.

My husband and I went to The Welshman's Arms on the evening before Valentine's Day. We'd had a nice long walk around the town and took plenty of photos. It was our first and, sadly, last visit to that pub. We will never go there again! It began well and the bartender seemed friendly but when I went to use the washroom, there was a (dirty) mop and bucket propping the outer door open, I moved it, because I wanted to have privacy and shut the door. The bartender came, at speed, through the bar area to stop me. He was shouting out to me which caused people around the bar to look over, this was very embarrassing. He told me to leave the mop there. At first I thought he was joking, the situation was so bizarre, so I laughed. But he was deadly serious. He said I couldn't move it so I said, ''I want it shut.'' He said it's never shut. He pointed out that the two cubicles had doors (the one I used had a broken lock). I insisted on shutting the door. When I came out of the washroom and went to put the mop and bucket back he took it out of my hands and said that the door had been open for four years because of COVID. He was very cross and so was I but I remained calm, I was astonished. My husband and I left and we won't be going back. On the board outside a Valetine's dinner was advertised, for the following evening. I hope the pub owners weren't expecting any ladies to attend because we ladies are not allowed to use the washroom in private! Added to that, he happily let someone sit at the bar, vaping.

Booked for a group of friends. The owners were very relaxed and although initially there were 20 of us booked, we were not asked for a deposit although we offered one. The lounge area is beautifully done out and very cosy. We were served very quickly with drinks at the table and then ordered food. The whole atmosphere was relaxed, warm and friendly but this was surpassed by the absolutely delicious food. We had a choice of four meats, sauces were offered and there was more than enough vegetables. What particularly pleased me was that we were given mashed potatoes and roasts, whereas many places serving roast dinners offer plain and uninspiring boiled potatoes so this was a very welcome treat. I cannot fault this place for Sunday lunch and will be making regular bookings here in future. This place is a hidden gem, thank you!

Visited Pembroke Dock to see some friends. We used The Welshman’s as our local whilst we were there. We have done this for a number of years, but this year we found that the pub had new owners. What a difference, we always liked the place, but it looks so much more inviting, and the welcome from the new owners was excellent. Normally my wife and I would find a table tucked up a corner and keep ourselves to ourselves, but this time we found ourselves sat at the bar chatting all the time we were there. I can only say thank you for making us feel so welcome. We would recommend this pub to anyone visiting the area.

After a last minute decision to stay in a nearby hotel & in need of a beer, I was directed to The Welshman's arms by the helpful hotel staff. This is a lovely, traditional pub & as soon as I walked in & stood at the bar I felt at home & could hear some locals engaging two Australian tourists in conversation. It wasn't long before I too was included by a friendly local, never once intrusive but polite, friendly & welcoming. The beers started flowing, as did the conversations & laughs as I got to know some of the interesting characters there! I also gained some invaluable local knowledge of best beaches & coastal roads to take on my journey the following day. I was among the last few to leave as I was having such a lovely time chatting at the bar with the landlady, Jen, & Mike, once everyone started to peel away. It really did feel like it was a local pub I had been frequenting for years! To summarise: Great beer, lovely cosy surroundings with friendly, warming & welcoming staff & punters to match.

I had a week off work and just fancied a drive to wales to have a look around some castles...as you do. Spent my Wednesday night in this brilliant pub with new friends I made at the bar.The pub is split into two sides: a swearing and no-swearing side. The swearing side has a pool table, juke box and fruity and has a nice and interesting style to it with pictures of movie stars and such hanging on the walls. The non swearing side had a similar look but was fully decked out with lovely looking chairs and tables. Plenty of room for people dining out.Ok so I've been to a lot of pubs and I can normally tell when a pub is a "dog" pub as I can smell it the second I walk in. The landlady, Jennifer (if I recall correctly), had an Irish wolf hound the size of a polar bear (I have a picture posing with it at the bar) but you seriously wouldn't be able to tell as they keep the place spotless. I was very impressed.Anyway thanks for putting up with a drunk Englishman and I hope I see you all again! Thanks for the shrimp Jen! I spent two nights on a business trip to Pembroke Dock. Having been disappointed by the food at The Shipwright on the first night, I thought I'd try somewhere different on the second and chose The Welshman's Arms instead. I'm very pleased that I did. The interior is cosy and inviting. The welcome could not have been warmer, including that from Henry, the pub's enormous (and very gentle) Irish Wolfhound. Only one real ale was on (a wider choice would have been nice), but what I had was well kept and reasonably priced (£2.90 a pint). The food was cooked to order by Jenny, who was happy to cook pretty much anything you asked for. My chicken breast wrapped in bacon came on a huge plate with excellent sauté potatoes, homemade coleslaw, beetroot, onion rings and a salad. Really good honest pub food. £12.50, which was good value considering the size of the portion. I was even given a free bowl of homemade tomato soup before my main, just because they wanted to know what I thought. It was delicious, packed with flavour. If you find yourself in Pembroke Dock, I would definitely recommend a visit. I hear the Sunday roasts are good too.

We visited this pub whilst staying at Pembroke Dock Travelodge. The meals are reasonably priced. We ordered steak and ale pie with chips and peas, and it was really nice, and very generous portion size. Our little boy enjoyed it, especially playing with Henry the dog! The owners and staff are friendly. The only thing that could improve it would be to have a few child's choices on the menu such as chicken nuggets or fish fingers etc, as toddlers like ours can be very fussy with their food. And maybe some dessert choices would have been good. Overall though this is a really nice pub and I would visit again.

Echoing previous reviewers- don't let the exterior put you off! Inside, it's a warm, cosy place, and very handy for the Travelodge nearby. Food absolutely excellent, and massive, massive portions. Had to wait around 45 minutes for food, but I think that's because everything is literally cooked from scratch. We ate here first on a Saturday and then went back in on the Sunday, when it was much busier with local workmen (who I'm guessing are the usual clientele), and the pub were only doing roasts. I'm sure their roasts are excellent, but personally I'm not a roast fan, so this was a little disappointing from a purely selfish point of view. Still, the meal on the Saturday was brilliant.

Staying in the Travelodge down the road on a bank holiday I was desperately short of options. Other places were not doing food and even Tesco and Asda had closed down for the night. I was so glad when they said they were serving food and chose pork chops. They were wonderful, moist meat but with crispy crackling the best I've had in years-usually the meat is too dry. The accompanying mash and veg were plentiful and also tasted great. Its not fancy, or even trendy but for a well cooked meal this was hard to beat.

An absolute gem of a pub. Don't let the simple exterior put you off, you go in and enter an aladdin's cave of curios. It was so comfortable and friendly on a chilly evening with good value beer and house wine. Loved it - and Henry the dog deserves a special mention!

The food is very generous portions, very good quality. The pub has been refurbished and feels very shiplike. The owners are very friendly and its very welcoming. I have had many pub lunches and evening meals here. One of the best places in Pembroke to eat.

if one is unfortunate as i was recently as to be marooned in the rather sad little town of pembroke dock for a few miserable hours, then you could do far worse than enjoy a drink an a chat with the friendly propieter ,barman, house pet and character Henry the very friendly Irish wolfhound ,and friendly locals. As i approached the town 5 hrs late for my ferry(or on the bright side 7hrs early for the next one!!!) i noticed on my left a very inviting looking pub and made a note of it as i did'nt expect much from town.parked my car in the lonely port carpark, the only one there at 8.00 pm(still didn't get on 1st) after a short and depressing stroll around the town it quickly became clear there was absoloutely no where but the welshmans' arms would do for me,so off I trod back the way i came. When i walked in to the right was the public bar with local lads watching a football match on the t.v. not really in the mood for t.v. so went to the lovely gem of a lounge bar with roaring fire.cosy in the extreme.after a very long trip down with a stop in the slightly more interesting town of Camarthen, feeling shattered, lonely and a little depressed with 7 hrs to wait for my ferry back to Ireland, not only was I made feel very welcome but a friend and local. The local real ale the name of which just escapes me was excellent and kept very well by peolple who know what thery are doing.Obviously I could'nt enjoy it as much as i would have liked to but just enough for research purposes and not enough to land me in hot water with pembrokes finest boys in blue, believe me i could have been blue-er. When I went in I was'nt feeling the best with a very irritating head cold, with associated nasal discharges etc ,it was after i reluctantly left that i realized i had forgotten all about it as i made my way at 11'ish to the superb indian restaraunt on the instructions of the the very kind animal loving couple who were seated next to me,which in itself is worthy of a review. My 7 hrs positivley flew by.And i vow to return to that place.and the 7 spices.

Stopping in Pembroke Dock with friends who have just moved there and needed somewhere to take them for Sunday Lunch. They had not been to the Welshmans before and were dubious about most of the hostels in the area, We were told about The Welshmans Arms by one of their Neighbours. From the outside it did'nt look to promising as its right on the main road but once inside WOW... a roaring fire and comfortable traditional pub interior welcomed us, great food choices, good sized portions - we were hungry and it was more than enough for us! as well as good, fast and freindly service. The quality of our meals for the price was very very good, I had the Roast Beef, Ed and Sue had the Roast Chicken. We were sated to the point that we could'nt eat a pudding. The dining room got quite busy but I noticed that they do a take away service for Sunday Dinner.... Yes a take away service.... for Sunday Dinner... Sunday Dinner..... Innovative to say the leastOur experience got better as we relaxed after our meal on sofas beside the fire, we were thouroughly entertained by our hostess and the mixed clientelle who's friendly banter kept my scouse buddies in stitches. I returned to watch the football in the Bar side of the Welshmans on Monday evening, I was pleased to find that bar food was still being served at 8 .00PM.I had the Chicken Supreme, again it was a large meal and very good value with the same level of good service we had received on Sunday. The Bar has a different ambience with the clientelle being mostly contractors who were friendly, chatty and a bit louder. There was no hint of an 'atmosphere' that you sometimes get in bars where they show sports. I enjoyed both my visits to the Welshmans and will be visiting again.I only found out that they have letting rooms and apartments as I was leaving on Monday, I did not have a look but I will most definatley be checking them out next time. All in all a fine hostilery for the money and very convienient for South Pembs beaches, castles and the Stenna Line ferry service.

We were staying in Pembroke Dock for a week and decided to go to the welshmans arms for a meal as it was the closest place to our accommodation. It didn't look much from outside but when entering the arms we found it to be lovely and inviting. The owners were absolutely fantastic, so friendly and welcoming. We ended up staying for the whole evening instead of just popping in for a quick bite. The bar has a roaring fire in it with leather sofas which was fantastic as this was a cold October evening. The food was good, We had steak and chicken. The steak was a little salty and dry, but came with some nice side dishes. The chicken was absolutely perfect, so tender and came with a lovely bbq sauce. The arms is mainly a 'contractors pub' but don't let this put you off as it really is a gem, and we will deffinatly be returning! We found when speaking to the lovely owner that they have rental flats and letting rooms there as well at very reasonable prices. All in all we were very happy with our evening out at the Welshmans and would most deffinatly recommend it to anybody visiting the area.

Traditional, characterful pub owned and run by a decent man. Good local customers and selection of drinks. No food but if you want a welcome where you dont have to feel like a holidaymaker, this place is for you.

It was a rainy Sunday in Pembrokeshire. We were hungry, and a Google search pointed this place out. We almost knew what to expect and fancied a chinnese. Anyone with physical limitations do not try to access. No lights to the path and pitch dark. Once you're in it's cold and sparse. A few tables to accommodate sit downs but this place runs mostly on take aways. The cook was very busy. A young man taking orders, serving and dealing with customers coming in and out. Bit chaotic. We kept our coats on ate our dishes, which were nicer than expected. Worth a venture ... some fun a bit like faulty towers. We would go back.
