Had a sandwich which was dry round the edges. Served by grumpy chef. Chips were good. Goujons not served anymore so why have it on the menu. Fish and chips were OK.

Very disappointing I had garlic chicken & chips. The chicken had seen better days and the chips too. I was also worried to see a young man wiping down the tables using the same cloth & no cleaner. Our table was sticky so not a good sign. We won't be going back.

Came here earlier in the year & really liked it. Great pub with a conservatory section on the seafront elevation, which allows you to take in the lovely sea views as you eat & drink. The interior of the pub is warm & welcoming too. The garlic chicken was fresh, as was the salad, & the skin on fries were nice and hot. The taste was great, & portion sizes are very good 👍 The other meal was a prawn cocktail with salad & again ticked all the boxes. The two set us back about £28, which isn't too bad considering where you are, & what you get. Drinks prices are ok, with a couple of 1/2 pints of coke costing just over £4. If you've got a dog, the good news for you is that they're welcome. Lots of families, couples, & small groups of friends seen in here too. Highly recommended

Popped in for dinner with family, ordered 3 meals, chicken salad which was OK, ham and leek pie which was leathery and sausage and mash with fried onions, I think the onions might of been fried once in their life but they were a sloppy mess when I got them, the food arrived so quickly within minutes, that's when you know there was a microwave involved 🤮 for the amount they charge for a meal it's definitely not worth it for a microwave meal, such a shame because the view is amazing and the table staff and the lady taking the orders were friendly

My wife and I popped into the Waterside for a late lunch on a day out in Hunstanton. We had a glass of wine each and then I had cottage pie and the wife had a prawn salad. Good, decent quality food, reasonably priced and generous portion sizes. Nice comfortable pub with great views of the sea, can recommend and we will visit again.

Joined friends for some coffees and a catch up. Girl serving the drinks didn't seem to be very interested or engaged. Certainly didn't feel there was a friendly welcome for paying customers. Their USP is their position so possibly everything else doesn't matter. Not sure if they bother to monitor their reviews as they don't respond.

Popped to Hunstanton for a day out. Called in this pub for lunch as Rain started. Decided to order sandwiches On the menu was cheese,Ham,Tomato,Salad these all being separate. Went to order a cheese and tomato sandwich as this a simple request and as they do them separately was expecting them to say yes but no was told they can't do it. I've never been to a pub where they can't make a simple sandwich especially when they have the ingredients. Food was nice but not sure I'd return as been told much better pubs in Hunstanton

What a let down ... a lovely location, but sadly the customer service at the bar and the food let the Waterside Bar down. The bar server was not friendly, and came across as though she was simply tolerating the job. The gentleman at the food desk was a little friendlier. The young man who bussed the tables and brought the food order was the staff member with the best attitude. The food a disappointment. I ordered Beef and Ale Pie with mash, peas and gravy. It looked lovely. The gravy was served in a little jug, which was great. The peas and mash were edible, but definitely not the best. (Peas slightly undercooked and the mash definitely not creamy or buttered.) The pie however not good at all, and the chef is totally to blame for this. A chef knows that puff pastry changes and toughens if not heated in an oven, yet this is what I was served. What a disappointment. Never, ever heat a puff pastry pie in a microwave - it just doesn't work! While the beef inside the pastry was tasty, the pie crust was unfortunately inedible - totally destroyed by the ineptitude of the chef and the microwave. A great view and location for a drink beside the sea.

Shame!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have been here many times over the years relying on their basic but acceptable offering but not again unless certain things change. What lets this place down is their inability to accept that if their food is poorly sourced/cooked and a customer complains then there, would normally be good reason. If a chef can't cook a particular product on the menu which was chicken breast then he shouldn't be in the job or that product should not be on the menu. Nor should staff be in their jobs if they do not accept a perfectly reasonably stated complaint but instead be excessively rude. All we got is finish your drinks and go!!!!!!!! These people seem to forget that customers pay their wages. My advice would be to avoid until reviews about food quality and staff rudeness subside. Their sister restaurant, the Marine Bar or the White Horse at Holme would have probably been a better bet but one never knows nowadays.

As it happened . We walked in at 8.42 , apparently they stopped serving food at 9 . We asked if we could eat , very politely. We got barked at “ your got two minutes “ . I walked off with a paper leaflet that was a menu . My husband then got shouted out “ so what do you want “ . As a chef with 35 years in the industry, I went with the best option , that was A quick .B was not going to poison me . So two scampi !!! Ten seconds later which even by Maccy D standards would have been slow . He demanded £23 . No please thank you . Not even “ so would you like a drink “ . I then slinked outside , just hoping it was a bad night . I understand it’s annoying when someone comes in that close to closing. Beer was flat , so he poured it into another glass . Nice ! Scampi appeared very quickly. It was reasonable. Salad was ok . Scampi was reformed ( ie chopped up cheap stuff ) . We already got our cutlery as I got shouted at when we ordered to “ knives there!!” . The only saving Grace was the sunset . I could not get out there fast enough . And hot foot back to out hotel . Apparently on asking around it “ normal “ . I’ll leave the rest of it there , as I’m don’t leave reviews . Good or bad . I’m not a keyboard warrior and I’m take most reviews with a pinch of salt . But wow , there are ways to talk to people , and I’m certainly not going to spend my hard earns cash and time on such a childish cocky man

We are regular visitors to Hunstanton but have never been to The Waterside despite it being advertised as "pet friendly". This week we gave it a try, well three try's really. The first time we ate indoors with both dogs, our meals arrived in a timely manner and the empty plates were testament to it's quality. On the next two occasions we sat outside on one of the terraces, again the food and drinks were good quality and nothing was wasted. We found ordering safe and easy, all of the staff were cheerful and helpful and we and our two dogs felt safe.Just one downside, the number of tables and chairs crammed onto the outside terrace area were far too many for the space, the terrace wasn't too busy during our visits but I would not feel safe if all of the tables had been occupied

This busy prom-side restaurant was surprisingly relaxing to visit during the pandemic due to their well signed and explained distancing procedures. I knocked a point off because the ordering procedures aren’t so well explained and the two older gentlemen who took our drink then food order were a bit ‘tutty’ with us for not knowing and having to ask. The food was well cooked simple seaside fayre. Portions were massive ( far more than we could eat) and the prices reasonable for a pub right in the middle of the town backing on to the prom with a view of the sea. We liked it very much and would revisit.

Well was a lovely sunny evening in Hunstanton and as we had some business to attend too we decided afterwards to have a stroll along the front with our 2 year old grandson, we had got him a small ice cream and as we passed the bar thought we would like to have a pint and some tea to finish the evening, at arrival inside the door we asked if there was a table for the 3 of us and was told yes once the ice cream had been eaten, we said we would take our business elsewhere which we did to Joes family bar up the road, I feel it a bit petty we couldn’t take him in with his ice cream it would have kept him quiet while we waited for our main meal and drinks, I have worked in a gift shop/restaurant and would never have turned a small child with a ice cream away if we had hot food or a burger and chips such like I could understand ‍♀️, last visit here about 3 years ago with the family we was invaded with flies while we ate our meal, thought we would give it a try again but no don’t think we will ever bother again, just puts you off over something so silly

We were not offered ten minutes of trying to figure out their ordering system with Wi-fi and website so poor we attempted to get attention via their red/green card system. At that point a double glazing glass panel partially failed and we were asked to move on safety grounds. No problem! Two minutes later asked to move again same reason! We then sat at our third table for a further 25 minutes. Watched table after table seated and ‘anything to drink please’. Meanwhile no table service for us.After all three tables had been served we were asked if we would like a drink. Yes! It’s hot we were thirsty. We watched three more tables get food and at least 6 tables get drinks as we sat in disbelief. We had come in for a family meal but by 55/60 mins with not even a drink on the table we walked out.Clearly understaffed, under planned and poor training. You lost not only the family meal and drinks for four today but any future business from our family again.I’m quite sure the owners will reply with apologies and some excuses but an hour to not even serve drinks is totally unforgivable and entirely unprofessional.I have experience in hospitality and I don’t think I’ve ever managed to ignore a customer for the duration this place did.

Stopped for drinks 3 times during our day out at Hunstanton. (As we have regularly done for years)Lovely staff, great drinks. Clean loos. Fully COVID safe. Oh and a lovely view of the sea no matter the weather. A lovely place to have a nice cuppa or something stronger. Although we didn’t eat this time, we have in the past and it’s always been good.

We were waiting for a few seconds just inside the door to be seated for lunch. I was just about to pull my face covering up when an older member of staff, who we presume was the manager, raced around the counter to the door and shouted at me to wear a face mask. I explained that I was just about to do that at which point he started tutting and shaking his head. I politely told him that I did not expect that attitude even in these difficult times at which point he started quoting the latest Corona virus death rates at us. We turned around and left!

Just returned from a lovely weekend in Hunstanton (23rd-25th) for my partners birthday. We visited waterside on the Friday night and the Sunday afternoon before going home. The Friday night was faultless, great service, attentive and quick. Unfortunately the only reason I haven't given you guys top marks is because the sunday afternoon before leaving the service was extremely slow, we waited a good 10 minutes to get seated at a table and then there was another very long wait to get a drinks order taken. And then another long wait for someone to take our food order, I was a bit confused that these had to be ordered at separate times. BUT the food was delicious both visits, empty plates all round. This hasn't put us off in the slightest and we will definitely be returning but hopefully the terrace won't get forgotten about next time.

The waiter brought two pints to our table and tipped one over me - it soaked my top and jeans and all my magazines/newspapers and phone. No apology at all and then after bringing a replacement drink he made us pay for the full round. I was soaked and stank of beer. The manager, who we had met earlier, did nothing and as some others have commented he is rude and lacks any social skills. The least I would expect is an apology and maybe a free drink. These things do happen and I didn’t make a fuss at all but was shocked by the lack of response or professional courtesy.

Visited on an overnight stay in Hunstanton. A warm welcome and quickly shown to a separate dining area overlooking the sea. The location was superb. The young man serving was friendly and it was easy to attract his attention when required.Everything was table service due to Covid and it worked well apart from having to pay separately for each set of drinks and the meal. My husband actually had to break off from his meal to input his PIN for some drinks as the bank required it due to a series of small transactions. The food was fine. My steak pudding wasn’t one of the dishes described as being home made, but it was well cooked and tasty. My husband’s Sirloin steak was a good price for such steak, but rather tough and he couldn’t eat some of it. I was a little surprised that they couldn’t meet my request of mayonnaise for my chips, but not nearly so much as when I asked for the dessert menu. They don’t do any desserts! We left and got our desserts from a supermarket, but the evening out came to an abrupt end. We had planned to have dessert, coffee and probably one or two digestifs. In a way I am pleased that we didn’t know about the limitations on the menu before we chose to eat there as we did love the view and atmosphere. We don’t normally go out for half a meal so sadly won’t be going back. This bar was between our hotel and the sea, and had lights blazing ALL night, not just the neon bar name but bright white lights from many windows. It unnecessarily spoiled the view from our hotel window. Such a waste of electricity.

We visited the Waterside Bar in Hunstanton recently and was absolutely astonished by the Manager's complete lack of any interpersonal skills whatsoever. He was abrupt, impatient, unfriendly and downright rude. There was no warm welcome at the door, no polite conversation & just a quick disinterested march through to a table. The atmosphere was cold as was his demeanour. We have, in the past, had many lovely meals here in a happy friendly welcoming environment. However, unfortunately, we won't be visiting again.

Maybe be dog friendly but the manager hates people. Was so rude. Don’t expect waitstaff to be servile but polite is a good start. The only positive was we shared a laugh with other diners about how rude he was and we all left after one drink order. Went to the Gin Trap Inn in Ringstead and had a 100% different and massively positive experience. I know the hospitality industry is suffering but the Waterside needs to try harder!

We went here on 9th october by chance. We were made very welcome with our dog. We were given a great table overlooking the sea. We had a prawn and beef sandwich which came within a very timely manner. Both came with crisps and a salad and the bread was lovely. Fantastic value for money.Approx £5 each. I would have posted a review anyway as so impressed. However having gone to The Hoste in Burnham Market the following day and paying £7 and £9 for awful sandwiches and having my post removed, I felt I had to praise our experience at the Waterside in Hunstanton. We are going back there for lunch tomorrow.Well done the Waterside!!!

Been before when visiting Hunstanton. Different this time, due to Covid. They are following the rules and feels very safe in there, for anyone who is worried about this. Internet & 3G kept dropping out making it hard to order on phone, easily solved by being provided with a paper menu and ticking what we wanted. Good they have a back up plan. Food is good value, very reasonably priced in my opinion, staff always helpful. Menu more limited but again due to Covid, like many places

During our first ever visit to Hunstanton - a midweek in Sept- my wife and I went to the Waterside Bar which overlooks the promenade and beach, for lunch. We chose this pub for it's location overlooking the sea as the weather was good. There are a number of very clear and enforced social distancing measures in place. On arrival at the entrance, we were met by a gentlemen who was looking to offer us a table inside - most were occupied. but we were able to chose a table for 2 which was outside on one of the 2 terraces. There were a number of tables inside, The menus were "once use" paper. There is a booth inside where you order for and pay for your food - although there was no number on our table. You have to queue separately to order and pay for drinks at the main bar. Both the booth and bar have protective plastic sheeting. We opted for main course each - one x sausages (3)/egg (2) and chips plus one roast beef salad. The sausage dish was pleasant enough. The portion size of the roast beef and salad was impressive. Sadly, much of the beef was rather dry and well done rather than the "succulent, rare" meat that was advertised on the menu. I was at the bar when the waitress delivered our meals and my wife said that she was rather "off hand" when she realised that I hadn't collected any cutlery at the time of placing my order. She did deliver it for us. Have to say that before leaving I went back to the booth but couldn't find any notice about collecting cutlery when ordering and I know I wasn't spoken to about this by the person who took my order. Despite the good Covid19 disciplines which seemed to be operating inside, there was no evidence of any table sanitisation on the terrace we were using.

Called here for drink and lunch. Sat in covered front area, to be surrounded by dogs barking, running around off leads and dirty windows. There seemed to be 1 older woman attempting to be in charge of 3-4 very young staff members. She asked us to sanitise our hands and gave us a table next to the door.We were shocked when we asked the senior staff member if it was table service....and she laughed at us saying "errr not here it isn't, you have to queue for food inside then switch to another queue inside, for drinks. This is what you get here!!"We commented that due to covid restrictions, we thought at least food would be, she replied no!Food was very good and drinks fine, no complaints there. As you can see from the photos, no one was attending to the door and we witnessed 20 or so people just walk in the door, not sanitizing and NOT being asked to do this by the staff. We mentioned this to senior staff member before we left and she shrugged her shoulders at us!There is nothing in place regarding sanitising or checking on the door. It seems to be more of a mo at making effort than anything else.I will be reporting to the local council tomorrow.

When we arrived we found a place to sit (there were 4 of us). The only free table was a dirty table that hadn’t been cleaned, we waited a few minutes but nobody came to clean it so my Dad decided to clean it himself with the spray and blue roll that was left on the radiator next to the table. Also a safety hazard - what if a child had got hold of it, it was just lying around! We were served by a rude lady (blonde hair, not the young girl she couldn’t be helpful enough). When she dumped the chips down on the table, the salt & ketchup sachets slid onto the floor and she just walked off. The food was nice and we all enjoyed our food, I just think the service wasn’t great, and it should be cleaner. No member of staff was wearing a mask/visor or gloves. Also when we went to the toilet afterwards, there was a signed sheet on the door to say when they were last cleaned, they are supposed to be cleaned every hour, and they hadn’t been cleaned for 3 hours before our visit.

My family and I were walking along the beach and decided to get some food for dinner. My dad went in to check that there were seats and that dogs were allowed. When he went up there were 3 tables moved together so we could seat all 8 of us. However, the table wasn’t clean so we waited for someone to be free to clear up. When the lady arrived, she took the glasses with her hands rather than a tray (which isn’t necessary but safer and cleaner) and said “you can’t sit all 8 of you”. Rather than guiding us on where to go, she walked away. We tried to explain that it was already like this before but she just walked back and said “actually you shouldn’t have sat down at all” and walked away. Instead another couple sitting down gave us an idea of where to sit but we were on opposite ends of the balcony. The lady returned and barely wiped our table with a bit of blue roll and a spray as she missed most of the table in a rush. We continued to order food and drinks; of which the glasses came out dirty and as I went to drink my plain water I could smell a fruity drink from whoever drank before me. When the food came out my family didn’t like the pizza, and the steak didn’t have a sauce. So only 5 people actually ate what they ordered. I tried to eat some of my brothers salad but the vegetables were dried out with no dressing or anything! When ya using the bathroom, there were signs had fallen off the wall and the floor was a mess. 3 members of my family work in the catering industry (one of which in a posh restaurant, whereas I work in a pub). I understand how busy and hectic it can get and that different places have different procedures with COVID 19 but the lady wore no mask or visor, barely cleaned the table and had a go at us when there were no signs asking us to wait, and we were told it was a walk in place. We even saw another family walk in and sit down by themselves and she said nothing! I just ask for a bit of respect from the staff as I would respect them. I’m never recommending this place!

First visit was on Friday 17th July. Dirty feel to the place. Dirty glass with a big smudgy lipstick mark around the rim of the glass. I'd already drank some before noticing. If that person who left their lips on the glass had corona virus, there's no doubt it would have been passed on to me. The glass was lip smudgy and disgusting. The barman changed it for me when I complained. New glass, fresh pint. Nice gesture but not much of an apology. LAST visit was Tuesday 21st July. Again, dirty lip smudgy glass. The barman (white shirt, grey hair, assistant manager I think) took my drink back and just poured the contents into another glass. He came across like he was doing me a favour. Literally, no apology. I asked for a plastic cup this time, my logic was that I would be the only one to drink out of it (as they clearly do not do the washing up here). The plastic cup smelled of the dirty greasy kitchen. I think they are just so used to people going up to the bar asking for a clean glass, they are tired of saying sorry. My sister had to changer hers too and so did some other customer as I was walking out. Staff miserable apart from the young girl clearing the tables, wearing a black mask. She was very polite. The food. I ordered classic fish n chips. The chips were quite nice. The fish was RANK. Stodgy uneatable batter, fish itself was ok at first but the more I tried to eat it, the less I was impressed. Clocking other people around me eating, there were plates all over with the left fish and the horrible batter. No one was eating it. Also, when I helped myself to a paper food menu, one of the table ladies said to me "you're not allowed to help yourself to those". I asked her how am I supposed to know what food is on the menu and she said "I would have brought one over to you". She just walked off when I told her I had been sat there for ten minutes already. Nasty place. Nice view, that's it. Save your money for somewhere else is my advice. Or take your own cup!!!Apart from what I have already said, it just feels uncomfortably dirty

Went for a drink here this evening after having a nice walk along the beach to be greeted by a polite man who serviced us our drinks. Upon pouring my tonic in with my gin I thought the glass looked dirty but thought it might just be water marks. Upon sitting down with this drink I then discovered this was not water marks but dirty and also a ketchup stain on the outside which I hasten to add this was not from me as we did not eat here. I took the drink back to the bar and asked the bar man for a clean glass which he gave me another dirty glass I then said this is also dirty. He then embarrassingly picked up a further 20 glasses which was also dirty. He informed the bar maid that these were dirty and that they needed to go back in the washer. To which she rudely spoke to him and said no they don’t it’s just salt water! I showed her the ketchup mark on the glass and said this is not water marks! Rude rude women do you not know that the customer is always right. I would not give a customer anything dirty at anytime especially at a time with COVID. This is also the same lazy member of staff who we witnessed clearing tables in the outside seating area and did not wipe any tables down. So this tells a story in itself!

We were not expecting much from the outside facade as it is very plain and unassuming from the roadside ( a lot nicer from the promenade) However, it was nice enough inside and very busy when we visited. A typical "urban pub" interior and not themed or OTT. It felt welcoming and homely. It was not overly noisy inside, with the usual protests and noise from hungry kids etc, plenty of dogs in there too keeping their owners in check, it was a good atmosphere on the whole and very dog/ family friendly. The food was excellent too and good value. We'd definitely stop here again. The only downside for me was that I had to wait at two separate tills for food and then drinks but otherwise it was a good experience with very friendly staff.

Probably my worst WS meal ever. 3 sausages almost burnt, they were tasteless and well overcooked which I said to the server who grinned at me. The chips as usual most were hard and inedible, peas hard. Served in a bowl with gravy all over the chips. WS has had a problem with hard chips for months, I have complained to staff and emailed head office to no avail. Thats it I AM NOT eating at a WS any more.

From arrival, the personalised touches really made for a memorable experience- homemade cakes, gin and tonic in the suite, relaxed but efficient service and delightfully presented accommodation. The pub and restaurant is wonderful, the food is exceptional. The service was wonderfully attentive and relaxed, the prices were good value.
