Excellent party venue!!!. We had our wedding here 06th September 2024 and it was absolutely perfect. The setting looked magical, a historical building dating back to the era of William Morris and Liberty designs that we all still love today. The rooms with exposed brickwork lit by fairy lights and candles...with beautiful outside areas to sit and enjoy on the banks of the river wandle, Abbey Mills a truly hidden gem. The owners John and KC were beyond amazing both with planning and the food was perfect. We had a 3 course carvery dinner and homemade buffet in the eve. All guests were impressed at the quality of the food and the beautiful setting, we had 3 rooms, the main room with seating, dancefloor and dj, the cafe for the buffet and a quieter area to chat, and the conservatory as a games room with pool table, cocktails and alcoholic slushies. Please take a look at the Watermill for any parties or events you are hosting. We comfortably sat 50 daytime guests and increased to 100 in the eve with room for a dj and dance floor. The venue can host more guests if needed. We had the perfect wedding day thanks to the hard work of all the team at the Watermill. Thank you all so much. Karen x

We have used the Watermill regularly for the lovely carvery and the great value breakfast. We recently got married and decided what better venue for out celebrations. The food was fantastic and the owners went out of their way to ensure we had a fantastic evening. If you are looking for good food or a venue for an event it is well worth enquiring.

Had a lovely walk on a sunny Sunday from Morden Hall Park to Merton Abbey Mills. You wouldn’t know this was a carvery from the outside though, as it’s hidden in the back. The food was good and filling, although a little expensive for what we had. It’s the decor that loses points for me as it needs a makeover. The toilets are embarrassingly cramped too. Plenty of room inside, which is not always a good sign.

Atrocious service. Paid an extortionate £17 for two cheese on toasts. Already too expensive. After 20 minutes we asked where the food was to be told the first lot had gone in the bin and it was coming. Concerned about how you get cheese on toast wrong, a couple of minutes later our food arrived. It turns out that the way you screw it up is by melting cheese onto soggy bread. I asked for a refund and got one. My partner ate hers because she was so hungry. The staff were surly at best and rude at worst. No apologies given. Won’t come back.

We booked as a party of four for the Sunday carvery option. The food was pretty standard carvery fare...reminiscent of those pressure-cooked vegetables so often found in school dinners. It was OK, but nothing to write home about. The disappointing thing for me was the RIDICULOUS prices charged for alcoholic drinks...£11 (yes, that's eleven pounds) for a pint of lager! Not somewhere I would return to, unfortunately.

Stayed at the Premier Inn five minutes away. Luckily wandered around and found this place. When Premier Inn turned us away for breakfast we tried here. We had full English and coffee x2 and it was delicious and £5 cheaper than Premier Inn so good value. If we return we will eat here again. Great location with other bars and cafes too. Little gem we hadn’t realised was there until we explored.

This place has kept us sane over there last 17 months! When Government guidance allowed, we were able to have an al fresco drink and sometimes food. It was just lovely to get out, when guidelines allowed and we wanted to be outside somewhere that you didn’t have the stress of having to prebook just for a quick drink. We’ve had lunch, a roast, the carvery was not open at that time and it wasn’t as impressive as other reviews say the carvery is, and most recently a burger and Chinese food from the newly introduced evening menu. All good value, simple but tasty food. We always sit outside on the plentiful seating in the bandstand area, it’s always busy with an assortment of groups, couples and families. The replacement of the hotchpotch of tables and chairs with the chunky wooden tables and bench seats makes it look tidier and more inviting now. A real go to for us, not just to the Watermill but Abbey Mills in general as there are so many food and drink options available.

Food is really good and priced very affordable, however the reason I gave it three stars was due to the “RUDE” waitress. Her service made me lose my appetite but I did give the food a try and would recommend and hopefully you won’t experience the rude lady. The gentleman that was there was very friendly and courteous though.

This is "the place to be" for breakfast. We found the Watermill Grill following a shambolic visit to the nearby Premier Inn who took our booking for breakfast but couldn't cope so they just closed the restaurant!! We called the Watermill but couldn't get through, a few minutes later they called us back!! This was even more impressive when we got there and saw how how busy they were - fantastic customer service which was matched by a great "Big Breakfast". If we are ever in Meron again we will visit. HIghly recommend a visit.

if you don't like this place then you probably don't understand the beauty of simple dishes. Me and my friend visited here yesterday. We were dreadfully hungover, it was a sunny day, we wanted a roast dinner. After scrolling through various online menus that featured delicacies such as 'chilli jam' 'chesnut stuffing' 'orange butter' and 'coastal greens' at places where the roasts were priced at £20+ we saw 'The Watermill', an old watermill tucked away in SW london and knew immediately that it was the place for us. We arrived at the location (at the moment only outdoor seating due to covid), it was tucked away near a stream, the place was bustling, full of life, the sun beating down. we worried we might not get a seat, however theres lots of seating available so we soon enough found a table. The man who took our order, (who i can only assume is the manager due to his self assured, relaxed, big boss daddy energy), made us feel right at home. He had a cup of coffee in hand, and blended into the crowd in his casual attire, but don't be fooled into thinking he's not paying attention. that man is ON IT. He had a watchful eye, overseeing that everything ran smoothly, and seems to have a knack for knowing what the people want and providing it, no b*llshit. The menu is FAB, a wide selection of food available and very cheap for london prices!!!! We ordered at the bar, and soon enough our beautiful roasts arrived, a large portion, with everything you need on the plate, we especially appreciated the cauliflower cheese. If that's what you want, this is the place to go. We ordered milkshakes to go, mine strawberry and my friend's banana and went on our merry way. the shakes were SO GOOD!!!!! creamy, frothy, thick, but not too sickly. WE WILL BE BACK xxxxx

I honestly can not believe some of these reviews giving this restaurant a bad name. I have been going there for this carvery for many years, as it is the best carvery I have ever had, with the most tasty and tender roast beef, and crispy roast potatoes, with a good variety of veg. including crispy parsnips, and I give this restaurant full marks. Also due to the coronavirus it has not been open for a few months, but I am sooo looking forward to the re-opening.

Disappointing but we thought we'd still have runny eggs to look forward to. False hope, as when served the yolks were hard boiled. How difficult is it to cook an egg? The restaurant is dated and tired with boxes of stuff piled up in the entrance area. Tables hadn't been cleared quickly or cleaned after previous customers. Service was adequate but not overwhelmingly friendly. The restaurant was busy so obviously some people are happy with what they're offering. Whether you fancy a coffee outside to pause from a river walk or craft shopping, in the restaurant or cafe sections service is always congenial and the food cooked well, and it's good to find somewhere that can actually produce great chips and a champion crumble. The roast is fabulous, well flavoured and knocks any of the chain carveries off my map. Great comments are always overheard. We live locally to the watermill restaurant and cafe and have been going there for many years. The reason I wish to write this review is down to the fact of two main points. Firstly i would like to make people aware of the great attitude Leonora (Kasey) has towards bringing something different to what many people see, as simply a cafe, serving cafe food. Yes you can go and eat all the regular type meals one would find in a cafe! but Leonora decided it was time to Introduce "The healthy option"The healthy option, which consists of a different menu as the weeks go on, is simply great. The three or four options one has, is most definitely strong enough to wet ones appetite, and is always cooked with love and great taste" Leonora introduced smoothies into the menu also which are a great way of introducing the less educated with regards to healthy living into the mix. A great job overall. We will keep going back for this time and time again. And the second point i would like to make is the Sunday carvery. It has to be without a doubt the best Sunday carvery I have ever been to, and again you will see us there most Sundays, unless somewhere in the world.Don't be deceived by the fact that the watermill is seen mainly as a cafe, ask about the healthy option, and if it's available, give it a try. PLUS! it's great value!Roxy prince of ROXY5000 THE BAND. LONDONP.s It's not on the healthy option, but! if you ever go to the watermill and Leonora has cooked the "beef wellington" you MUST have it. It's TOP restaurant quality at a low price. That's amazing!!!!!!!!!!

Was craving a roast dinner on a Sunday. Booked a table here to have a carvery. Food was hot, flavoursome and inexpensive. Interesting oriental twist on some of the veg, but I liked that! Was better than warmed, overcooked, bland veg you get at some larger carveries.

This little cafe is great. It's simple, a good range of food, and has a good amount of outdoor seating in the heart of Merton Abbey Mills.Breakfast there is good value. They also have a range of sandwiches and baquettes which I've enjoyed. The staff aren't all friendly but they aren't rude I would say. Most of them are quite young to be honest and it's seems the older lady's are the rude ones!

We called into this restaurant for breakfast before setting off to Wimbledon for the day. It is situated on the Merton Mills site known as London's alternative market. They offer an extensive choice on the menu. We sat outside and then realised that you have to go in and place your order and pay for it, which we did.We chose the full English £5.65 and poached eggs on toast with a side order of bacon and coffee. Total bill just over £11.The food was cooked to order and was great. It would have been better still if they had warmed the plates.Ideal for a cheap and hearty breakfast to set you up for the day.

Service was unattentive, unhelpful and not very friendly.Food wasn’t great: ordered a vegetable moussaka and it has lots of vegetables but potato instead of aubergine, the fundamental ingredient of any moussaka!Place was clean-ish, decor ok, toilets not great either.Won’t be going back and won’t be recommending it to anyone.

The best way to describe this place is a cafe - we had lunch on a Wednesday during half term, there was no service at all, you had to go to the counter to order to then be tutted at by the lady when you forgot to order a drink. The food was mediocre at best, would be better off going to McDonald's

Just been sat in eating breckfast and a women walked in with her dog, I was expecting the staff to tell her she wasn't welcome with her Dog. No she wasn't she was sat down and served with a cup of Tea, isn't this against hygiene laws??

Been searching for a long time for a decent Breakfast in Colliers Wood area, usually I have to get on the Bus to Wimbledon and go to O'Neils not anymore! Very nice laid out place to the point I thought it looked too posh to serve Breckfast till I read the menu, will be coming in future. Only minor criticism would be that the staff all looked miserable.

I visited this Carvery with friends last week, it's by far the best Carvery we've been to. Meats were cooked to perfection, (not overdone or dry) veg was very tasty especially the honey roast parsnips (had to go back for seconds!) I would definitely recommend this place for Sunday Lunch. +++++

Came here over the early May bank holiday weekend. Staff consisted of bored looking late teens/early twenties waitresses. The place was almost empty and lacked any kind of atmosphere. We were completely ignored, no one made eye contact, they simply walked around us to avoid serving us. Very odd. The Watermill restaurant is more like a builders breakfast cafe with the laminated menus consisting of chips, beans, sausages, jacket potatoes... We will never come here again and would advise you not to until the staff have been replaced or if you just want a cup of tea and toast.

The pub is situated by the river in the Abbey Mills area of Wimbledon. Sometimes the river is full of midges but it was lovely when we visited. Food was okay, nothing memorable but not bad. Probably better to visit for a drink on a nice sunny day and a potter around the Abbey Mills stalls.

Stopped by for some lunch on the early May Bank Holiday with the family. There's a good range of food on the menu - the beef burger was very nice but sadly the fries were tasteless (and seemed to have been refried a few times). The service was distinctly average even though you needed to order at the counter - food was getting cold whilst the young staff worked their way round the restaurant trying to remember who ordered what; some kind of system is definitely needed.

Although the Filipino staff were quite friendly, this is not a great place to eat at. The carvery was awful with the roast pork having a distinctly Chinese style flavour to it. The selection of vegetables was very odd with parsnips and onions on the trays. They had run out of Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes and stuffing and the wait for these items was about 15 minutes. This restaurant was quite busy as they must get a lot of passing trade from visitors to Merton Abbey Mills. We will definitely be choosing another nearby eatery on our next visit and would advise others to do the same.

Tend to think we have a monopoly on the best chippies up north, but this one is really, really good! Good sized portions and excellent quality cod. A bit pricey, but well worth it for the quality of fare provided.

High quality fresh fish, haddock on my most recent visit, superbly cooked (crisp, but light batter), and very friendly service. Also licensed.. I had a cup of tea, but next time will have a glass of wine. I also (being originally from Yorkshire ;-) had mushy peas. Also had tartar sauce. Overall, couldn’t be bettered I’d say.
